I. INTRODUCTION
The year is 2070. Following the events of Black Tuesday that plunged the world into chaos, monstrous mutants and ruthless automatons now roam the earth. As a consequence of the incident, rogue Ember weathers have also threatened to sweep away the ideals of past civilizations while survivors of a wartorn world must fend for themselves. With much of the mainland continents ravaged by war and catastrophes, the collapse of nations and society led to the rise of vagabonds and isolated city states. Meanwhile, the Kessler Effect of space debris led to the destruction of the world's constellation of satellites, and in turn further collapse of society - plunging earth into a new dark age.

Amidst the chaos, a conglomeration of refugees and exiles banded together. Led by Captain James "Ulysses" Kuechler of the multi-mission frigate Exodus, they exercise a strict code of neutrality in the ongoing conflicts between remnants of former superpowers and rising warlords. Despite their creed, Exodites are primarily composed of former operators, Prometheans, and Ravens - sailing from seas to seas offering their logistic and security services to smaller communities in return for fuel and supplies that perpetuate their journey.

In this age of darkness, will you dare to rove the tempestuous seas in search of the truth and pave the way for a brave new world?

II. CONSPECTUS
Vagabonds: Exodus is a post-apocalyptic action roleplay with fantasy elements that will focus on a band of sea-faring survivors as they embark on many adventures and perhaps unravel the truth of their woes. In Exodus, you will take on the role of an Exodite operator serving onboard a multi-mission frigate of the same name.

You may choose to play as a human, a unique Raven of their proliferated series or a powerful Promethean with supernatural abilities, aboard the multi-mission frigate Exodus. As the story is mostly wired towards scavenging and mission-based operations, combat in-story will vary depending on the scale.

Refer to the lore page for further information on the primary threats and what to expect in this world. Feel free to ask questions.

Seems like there's a lot to take in for this one,a couple questions.

Is this chapter of the RP only now getting started,or is it ongoing/restarted?

Also

A laid-back captain with varied experience in combat during his time on land. From 2045 to 2047, Kuechler was embedded with the CIAs for intelligence support operations against the Syndicates. Following his return to the Navy, the man remained there and was eventually given command of his own vessel - the Multi-Mission Frigate USS Endeavor.

Does this imply that the Endeavor/Exodus is AWOL from the US Navy and that'll cause complications down the line?

On the topic of Ravens,do they generally have legal personhood/the ability to earn such? Which is to say,can they quit their (military) job and look for a new (civilian or otherwise) one/survive their jobs being made redundant? Or are they at the mercy of whoever "owns" them with no recourse?

Also,is there any superficial physical or behavioral characteristic that can distinguish a first gen Raven from a second gen? And can a second gen survive having their centralized protocol governors disabled/removed or is it something they have to cope with no matter what?

Hello.

This is a standalone story that's just getting started. Connections to my previous RPs are for flavortexts.
No prior knowledge is required to participate in this one.

Yes. Mayhaps.

On the topic of Ravens,do they generally have legal personhood/the ability to earn such? Which is to say,can they quit their (military) job and look for a new (civilian or otherwise) one/survive their jobs being made redundant? Or are they at the mercy of whoever "owns" them with no recourse?
On the topic of Ravens, their sentient consideration varies by factions and states. Some consider them as tools, while some states have systems of citizenships.
Exodite Ravens (crews and marines) are more like Ceto's divided self in different bodies, rather than individuals.
If you're going in as a Raven character, it is likely you managed to disable your own surrogate command governors. Though you may decide if it is the case, or simply bypassed with repercussions later in the story.

Also,is there any superficial physical or behavioral characteristic that can distinguish a first gen Raven from a second gen? And can a second gen survive having their centralized protocol governors disabled/removed or is it something they have to cope with no matter what?
1st-Gen are more resilient, and considered too "human-like" in how they grow and react. Physically, they require more replacement materials for repairs and upgrades compared to 2nd-Gen.
2nd-Gen can still survive after having their governors removed. (Case: Ceto's CS)
Though the process varies depending on the model. Some may be hardwired, and is prone to neural killchain attacks. You can choose whether or not you want to have such vulnerability, as it also works as a bridge to trace and locate the phisher.

I'd also love to throw my hat into the ring!

I was planning to go for a Promethean character but I did want to ask if there was some underground faction that "researched" on Prometheans by way of exposing various humans to extreme amounts of ambrosia to see which traits/types of people would become Promethean and which would succumb to becoming Reds? This is more out of curiosity as I might use that as a background though I'm not entirely sold on it.

Hello folks.

gecko present
Welcome back!

This is giving Punishing Gray Raven vibes - I like it. Interested.

Will read all the lore later.
I haven't played that game yet. Let me know if you have any questions!

Nah, it won.

I'm interested.
Welcome! Feel free to start writing your character.

intrigued, it's been a while.
Sure has. Time to get back into writing!

Hi!

Ooooohhhh feels like a graphic novel. Nice! K will read the lore first

Welcome! Been a while since I've seen ya!
There were attempts scattered throughout history to weaponize ambrosia by human trials. In the present time, it is even more likely the case, though not known to the Exodites (yet).
You may elaborate your take on such a faction when creating your character.

This is interesting. I noticed there's a mention of artifacts in the lore page; is there more information on those?
Indeed. More information will surface as we progress through the main story and relevant information about them will be added to the Intels section on the lore page.
So far the Philosopher's Stone is considered as one of the most powerful Akeshic Artifact, in relations to the origins of Ambrosia and Promethean powers.

Can I ask how rare these artifacts are? I kind of latched onto the idea of a character who wields one as their signature weapon, but if it's not something you want us starting off with, I've got backups.

Yeah! Great seeing you again! Okay, I was thinking that if I'm going down the experiment route is that my character was handed off to the exodites by some secret deal— basically got sold to the army and just happened to be placed there. Then they broke off and went rogue so my character is just thankful for the relative freedom lol

Gonna brainnstorm a bit more but thank you!

Glad you asked. Artifacts can be pretty rare. Though some do surface every now and then, as to why and when - it could be random or part of a design. Gotta find out in story!
If you wish to utilize an artifact, it is possible. Perhaps not the prize in its entirety, but a piece of it. That way, there are room for growth and discovery on the artifact itself.
Though, do keep me in the loop as to which specific artifact you would like to utilize (in DM if necessary), in case ideas overlap.

Likewise, friend.
Take your time. Feel free to elaborate more in DM or in OOC. I'm curious about this tradeoff scenario.
More than happy to assist where possible!
