►- ► ' The Story " Arcane energy, the power to weave spells and achieve the impossible. No one fully understands it, not even the most brilliant scientist in Atama. This forsaken power was first discovered unintentionally, by a renowned scientist that called Atama his home. The brilliant man was called Harry, by his loved ones. His lovely wife fell ill, the poor woman was stricken with the black plague. What used to be beautiful, perfect skin was now covered in dark boils and bruises. Regardless of his brilliance, the man was not able to create a cure for his wife. Desperate to save her, he plead to the gods that he himself did not believe in. They decided to give him what he wanted. This is when the most unpredictable form of arcane energy was discovered, alchemy. The man was praying at his wife's bedside when it happened. Onlookers said that he began spouting blood, spontaneously. The white sheets that covered his dying wife were coated red. The man was dead within seconds. After an autopsy of his body was done, doctors discovered that his heart seemed to have vanished. It was not removed surgically, it seemed to disappear in an instant. His wife however, somehow recovered, her skin was as beautiful as the day she was born. The woman looked new, reborn.
Energy lines are responsible for holding the world together. They transport arcane energy from place to place, completely invisible to most humans. By tapping in to these energy lines, a normal everyday human can tap in to an untold amount of power. There are junction points where many energy lines cross, these areas are called hubs. Experienced magic users will find themselves with an amazing amount of power near these areas, inexperienced users will find that it is impossible to control their powers fully. After Harry's death, people became curious. The witch of Atama was the first to discover the full potential of arcane energy. After the first incident transpired, she awoken feeling new and reinvigorated. The world around her changed, she saw blue translucent lines cascading across the skies. She called herself, the awakened, others who were able to see energy lines followed suit. That was when she discovered the power form of arcane energy. She was able to absorb energy around her and transform it in to brilliant displays of power. She could ignite a forest with a single thought, or pour rain upon the farmlands for days.
Some looked at her as a demon, sent here by the devil to tempt man with cursed powers. That was why they hunted the woman, and burned her alive at the stake. By controlling the fire around her, she was able to survive and fool the towns people, opting to go into hiding. That was when she met Azazel, the father of energy lines. Azazel told her of his greatness, and the power that he could give her. Azazel was the one who inspired the witch of Atama to take revenge on the city folk that damned her. She took in followers, recruits, and dubbed them as the forsaken ones. Afterwards, the witch created a covenant of like-minded individuals. This covenant was composed of powerful sorcerers and sorceress. The witch performed countless experimentation's on her followers, creating absolute abominations. These abominations were permanently corrupted by dark magic, altering them in to something inhuman. With her followers and abominations, she alone brought the city of Atama to it's very knees.
It was time to repent, under the energy line hub that rested atop of the castle of Atama, she brought forth a demon in to this world. Azazel, the herald of destruction. With the birth of the energy lines came Azazel, a being made entirely of arcane energy. He was the only one capable of destroying energy lines entirely, using his powers he eviscerated the energy line responsible for providing light for the world, making the sun's light vanish entirely. Under the cover of the permanent night, the witch of Atama and her followers desecrated her previous home. The High Priestess was the only one capable of stopping her. Like the witch of Atama, she could see where energy lines connect. By transforming herself to pure arcane energy she was able to reform the energy line that brought light to the world. Thanks to her sacrifice, the city of Atama was able to push back their foes. The council of mages and the royal army pushed back the witch's remaining forces. Azazel was sealed away, by the city's grandest mages, transforming his scaly body back in to arcane energy along with the high priestess. To honor her, they dubbed the high priestess as the overseer, celebrating her sacrifice come October. Some believe she still watches over their city from above.
Many years have passed now, as the kingdom has succeeded in rebuilding itself. The witch of Atama however, is still alive and well. A small village, close to their city was completely destroyed. There was one sole survivor, who claimed that the sun vanished, whilst monsters rampaged about their beloved city. The council has kept this piece of information away from civilians, the overseer's festival is approaching, and this kind of talk would create a lot of panic. For now sit back and enjoy the festival, unbeknownst to the darkness that gathers mere miles away from the city.
hey, if u read all of this I am pleasantly surprised, i did this plot awhiiiiileeee ago on another website and have ever since been trying to reboot it on here to no success
but yeah, it would make me really happy if i knew at least one person read it
tbh i dont expect this to start merely because the other interest thread i posted several months ago did not get a single reply (yes i am salty)
theoretically if it did, we would be in the middle of a festival to celebrate the human-godess known as Athena ie the high priestess
then bad guys attack city is destroyed
surviving heroes need to make plan to beat bad guy getting help from foreign cities
i can describe the magic in detail (this is an old plot so i can just copy paste stuff) but pretty much anything is allowed
there are three main races, elf, human, and dwarf, who live in the main cities, the rest sort of are just off in small villages so if you have a unique race thats on you
profiles should be detailed as well, a lot of thought should go in to characters, like a least several paragraphs
for posts i would expect 300+ words a post
