A steam-like substance flowed from a fallen body in opaque, swirling pillars. The figure, who was tugged to safety, tripped on her own foot upon entry and skidded along the wooden floor ungracefully on her side. She groaned from the intrusion of pain streaming from her legs and to her upper torso.
A mangled yap followed by a squeal was overheard from ahead and Usami's vision snapped to the source. The source of the noise came from Ravyn, who sat by the double doors, with a Poex corpse disintegrating beside her. Ravyn must have also stolen a life judging by the crimson red that marked her blade, and from the way she cradled her wrist, a painful injury was evident. Usami found herself perplexed as she looked at the corpse. How was she feeling so calm when she blatantly ended not one, but two creatures' life?
Usami's eyebrows furrowed at the grim thought, rested her head back onto the wooden floor, and stared at the ceiling. Was her vision blurry earlier? She tried to lift her arm but to no avail. The limb was dead weight from exhaustion.
"What... happened," a voice made out from behind. "Are you two alright?"
Usami jolted in her spot and groaned in response, causing a spasm of aches to enter her chest area. That's right. Adrian made it through safely, but then Usami remembered his wound. Perhaps using the word 'safely' was a bit of a stretch.
She rolled onto her stomach and slowly pushed herself onto her knees. The attempt was a struggle on its own. Blinking repeatedly, Usami's vision was phasing in and out until she could make out Adrian's body. Using her visual prowess excessively will mess with her normal eyesight, she ruled out. She suspected she'd be more cautious from here on out.
Usami got a good look at the male. Oh, how nice. Ravyn got him seated in a chair; meanwhile, she flopped to the ground like a fish. (She wasn't aware of Ravyn tossing Adrian's body onto the ground).
The streak of dark red painting down his shirt brought Usami to inwardly cringe. She brought her head down in a dip. Usami felt she was held responsible for their injuries. She claimed she had their back and even provided the plan, but in the end, she failed to protect them. The small voice in the back of her head rebuked, believing she wasn't responsible for their lives, but Usami pushed the voice further down the depths.
Gritting her teeth, the dark-haired girl pushed herself to her feet- staggering and swaying without her crutch to steady her. There was still steam releasing from her body as if she was a fresh, hot potato. The pain was obvious on her face with every movement, but she had to move. She dragged her limbs like the undead. She deserved this pain, she thought as she made her way to Ravyn. Usami assisted the redhead to take off the backpack, careful not to touch her or cause any more pain.
The girl fished out the remaining packet of crackers and the bottled water despite her trembling fingers. Twisting the cap and ripping open the pack, she then nudged the food to Ravyn and placed it next to her. If she refused, Usami would send her a firm look or otherwise feed the redhead herself. It reminded her of her father, who would often neglect his health and force Usami to maintain it for him.
"Please eat," she said to the redhead, remembering how little she ate during lunch.
Usami then set her sights on her other teammate. For a moment, she hesitated to approach him. She's never dealt with this bad of an injury before. Usami shimmied off her gym jacket and folded it. They would have to stop the bleeding and find something to clean the wound. Finding a bandage would be helpful in this case...
Usami shifted over to Adrian, looking uncomfortable with her jacket in her hands. "Gomen nasai," she mumbled before pressing the jacket onto the bite wound.
While pressing the jacket in place, Usami took the time to assess her surroundings. Though her vision was still hazy, she could tell the dining was massive- not a doubt larger than her old apartment. She spotted a set of double doors on the other side of the room with what appeared to be a note stuck on one of them. She felt compelled to check it out.
