Fantasy Vanguards

|| Ellise Volkov ||

Ellise couldn't help but straighten a little at the feeling of a hand clap onto her shoulder, her body tensing at the admittedly unexpected action. She normally had rather good sense for when someone was approaching but the female had been absorbed in to only her own dazed world but overwhelmed by the noise and sudden burst of light in the auditorium. At the familiar voice's comment she simply gave a small nod, one which caused a few strands of hair to fall loose from behind her ear and gently sway onto her pale face, she didn't question their reasoning nor excuse there was no point, after all, she trusted Gale and in return the feeling was exchanged in a mutual manner, it was the most effective and efficient route.

Speaking of which her efforts to leave the building had been interrupted by her friends sudden appearance, the thought causing her to glance up and towards the doors, “C’mon, El, it doesn’t do well for either of our complexions to stay in such cramped spaces!” Complexions? Gale always was one to bother with such trivial things such as looks and such, of course Ellise minded being in the sun for too long and all, much preferring a shaded area than the direct rays upon her snow white skin but it was tolerable for the most part.

She allowed herself to be pulled along for the most part, her arm tugged along in a rather floppy manner by the person in front of her, dodging this person and that as they eventually made their way out of the building, it was then Ellise finally decided to speak to the other.

"It's…. Good to see you."

The words were stated in her usual monotone voice, and her expression barely changed from it's unimpressed base but you could tell a small smile attempted to curl its way onto her light pink lips, her head tilted slightly as she spoke and she held the book slightly closer to her chest, her glasses letting off a slight glare in the outside light, the mouth movement showing off the two, small white fangs hidden within. The statement was genuine though, she had missed her friend in their time apart and though to anyone else the statement would seem like a lifeless and casual thing, for Ellise to have said it was honestly quite the surprising and 'friendly' change.

LEE HYO-RIN

The crowd she was amongst seemed to move at a turtle’s pace. Rin had lost count of the number of times she took a few steps only to halt and wait for a minute before she could move again. It was as though the people at the head of the group was allowing everyone and their grandmothers to pass through the entrance before they were willing to exit. More than a few times, Rin had to bite her tongue in order to resist yelling “Get a move on, slowpokes”, which would no doubt have gotten her a few enemies even before class started. And since there were beings here who could wrap their hands around her neck before she knew what was going on, shouting at this mass of strangers wouldn’t be a good idea. Even so, she wished at the very least that people would have better courtesy and common sense to both move and chat. Not stand around blocking others’ way.

But as luck had it, the boy who was sitting next to her didn’t get lost amongst the throng, instead sliding into the little space beside her. He evidently wasn’t put off by her enthusiastic chatter either and was actually actively engaging her in conversation. Which was a plus because while she liked to talk when excited about something, being the only one chatting away wouldn’t make her feel any closer to the other party. Tucking her hands in her hoodies’ pockets, she slanted a glance at him, using this time to take a proper look. Mason, as he introduced himself, was not much taller than her, though he certainly was lankier. Rin was sure he didn’t work out much, and was slightly concerned about how he was going to adapt to the undoubtedly intensive physical training in the Academy before mentally dismissing it. Sink or swim would be entirely up to the individual.

“Incredible, it certainly is. But, you know, now all this orientation’s over, the next thing to look forward to are classes. Hopefully we’ll be in at least one class together, eh? I didn’t exactly came with anyone I know and would be more comfortable with a familiar face.” Rin shot him a smile, walking sideways in order to make proper eye-contact.

Shrugging her shoulders, she glanced at the couple of vampire-human pairs that were lucky enough to be close acquaintances with something akin to wistfulness. “Vampire partner? Nah, ain’t got one and haven’t got a clue who it’ll be. I assumed those like me would need to find a suitable half during our years here. Kinda impossible to fight the Rot alone, yeah?” She paused as something in his tone poked at her sub-conscience. “What about you, Mason? You one of them lucky enough guys to already have a potential partner? It’s gotta be sweet to already be on the next level of familiarity with a vampire. I mean, imagine me trying to find one here that’ll tolerate all the chatter. The few of them that caught my eye look like your typical loners. You know, those with all that ‘I’m not interested in small talk, shoo’ vibe?”

Julia Valois
"I understand Major. I am very much aware of a vampire's inner voice or *ehem* 'That blood loving prick' as Axel used to say." Julia once again giggled at her own little joke. Relieved that the Major has accepted her little invitation. Drinking alone in her own room has gotten boring even and she really wanted to visit the old bar she used to frequent. Back then, she would go there with Axel or the others but its impossible now for obvious reasons. That being said, she was slowly running out of things to say and she did have a lesson to plan

"Ah, pardon but I have to go. I'll see you at 8pm by the main gate. À plus tard!" Julia bid farewell and saluted one last time before walking towards the main building. Half her mind thinking about lesson plans and the other half on what to wear later.

Ann Cromwell
"Oh finally, the crowd thinned a little!" Ann happily declared, hopping off her seat and dusting off her skirt. After adjusting her scarf, Ann took one last look around, noticing the large muscular woman sitting near the back of the auditorium. After a brief moment of staring in shock and mentally noting her large bust, Ann quickly went to work slipping her way through the thinner crowd at the door. Her small frame helped out a lot and she got out pretty quickly.

"Ah.... Fresh air..." Ann jokingly announced as she took a deep breath in and grinned. Ironically, in doing so, she just missed Julia walking away just around 5 meters away. The same Julia she was eager to find earlier but it doesn't matter for Ann now. After all, she was as free as a bird for that moment.

"Right... The dorms should be... that way...?" Ann's good mood faltered as she realized that she was now more than a little lost. Taking a wild guess, she walked towards what she thinks is the dorms while looking around. There is clearly a varied cast here, humans, thinbloods, medians, and purebloods. Each of them similar yet unique as they have their own cliques and mannerism. But the people that catches her eye the most has to be the loners. People that are either socially awkward like her or just solitary people by nature. It was... nice to see them around. That being said, she noticed a boy sitting off to the side. A common sight sure but there is something about the way he carries himself.

"Hm...?" Ann slowly approached, noting his body language and the way he looked around. As she drew close, she slowly moved her hand out and started waving it within the boy's theoretical cone of vision.

"Is he.... blind...?" Ann muttered to herself as she stared at him with awe and fascination. After all, what's a blind person gonna do in the Vanguard anyway?

Candice Roseden - Mana 83/83

The British girl looked at the person approaching her with a curious look in her eyes before she straightened up to greet her, wait him? Her eyes watched his movements carefully and she raked his body with hers not seeing anything remarkable close to a feminine posture or developments. "My name is Candice Roseden and forgive me for asking, are you German?" The Guard was well educated and she'd travelled a lot on her mother's wishes and she had stayed in this place already for a night, the Academy was in Germany for crying out loud. Candy took his hand, as much as she didn't want to but showed common courtesy to the man before her, it was always good to be on the good side of him. Him meaning vampires. He was small, about her height and a small smile etched into her usually relaxed features, the Lion found this funny but knew better than to judge a book by their cover. Her feminine hands shook gracefully as she kept eye contact with him, occasionally flickering to his mouth where she had seen the canines. "Alois, I'll keep the name in mind," Candice smiled at the new-found 'friend', curious as to who he was paired with, she'd meet otber people this way. Correction. Humans, she'd meet other people, like her, humans, delightful.

Wish, and so shall a cute girl come forth. It was a curious thing in all honesty. More than a few students had noticed him already, some had seen him around the academy before, some could sense his considerably potent mana and some were concerned about his blindness in relation to his role in the academy. Surely a blind person couldn't contribute much to a military academy in terms of actual fighting? Perhaps if he telepathy or some other support role, but no. William had none of that, although he did like to trick the less intelligent people into thinking he could read their minds, but instead William did have a rather offensive ability. One that would more than startle those who underestimated him. He had also noticed the french girl who he had overheard arguing with what he assumed to be her brother. She was looking at him too, but it was the one that had approached him that really drew his focus. He would save the other one for later.

"It's impolite to stare without an introduction. Perhaps you would care to share with me your name?" A charming smirk had already donned his face as William quirked an eyebrow quizzically, clearly amused by the girl who had slowly approached him in a confused stupor.

"And yes, I am blind. Hence this..." He lifted the walking cane that was resting beside him, the ornate wood light and easily to lift. Placing it down again, William got to his feet confidently, without a hint of hesitation or doubt as to his balance - opposite to how most blind people would act when walking unaided. Offering a hand to the female student politely like one would at a royal ball, William's smile became more genuine as his cool grey eyes gazed into hers, magnetising to look into. Or so he had been told, it had been years since he had seen them for himself.

William could not see hers either, but he could sense every part about her with his mana-sense. A vampire girl who was about a foot and a bit shorter than him, slim body and long hair. A rare specimen indeed, her curious attitude all the more interesting. Perhaps William would play with her for a while, he hadn't found out about his partner yet for some reason so he had time to kill. One of the staff must have forgotten to notify him, or maybe they just forgot he was a student and not part of the permanent faculty. He had been here long enough after all. Either way, it was good to get to know others. Today was the dawn of a new life, a fun life.

Mason Patch
"Ah, yeah. I do have a partner already. He's pretty cool," Mason answered honestly. He did admire Reiner but the guy was still intimidating to the human. "But I think even with a partner fighting the Rot's gonna be hell." His tone remained casual, but he couldn't shake the sudden despair that hit him. He didn't want to talk more about his partner or even mention his brother--someone would recognize his last surname eventually and he was happy to deal with that later than sooner. "Yeah, they seem kinda stuck up," he agreed about the glaring vampires, happy to move on to a broader subject. "It's probably because they're old and hungry." He laughed at his own joke, though hoped one of the vampires didn't hear him. Was that racism? Maybe that was a subject he should breach with Reiner, though that could be an awkward talk. His thoughts pushed him into a sudden silence as he contemplated it.

He continued to follow Rin through the crowd. He would, of course, bump into other much larger students and apologize quickly. He hated crowds. He disliked people at best. Somehow, though, being next to someone who was friendly helped keep his anxiety at ease even if his craving for a cigarette only grew. He supposed he'd be able to duck away soon, even if classes were to start today. Were they? He had no clue, and he didn't want to burden Rin with a question she might not know either. Mason sighed and tugged lightly at his scarf.

Soon enough, they made it out into the hall where students dispersed. Mason's gaze quickly found an exit to the outside, but he wasn't so impolite to just ditch Rin. Not without saying goodbye, anyway. "I can breathe again," he said, stopping to sigh and spread his lanky arms now that he had the space. He paused, contemplating a goodbye that didn't make him sound like a smoker--it was a bit of an embarrassment in the 22nd century. "Anyway, I'mma get some fresh air before classes...or partner assignments...or whatever is.. going on," he finally said. He took a step back, not wanting to just zoom away--he didn't want Rint o think he disliked her or something. So he added, "But yeah, hopefully we have a class together or something. Thanks for tolerating me." He laughed at his lame joke again, offered a small wave to give her time to say what she'd like. Then he'd turn on his heel and slip out the nearest exit to the outside, rummaging through his pockets for a cigarette and lighter.

Vanilen Ainswurth

The elder scoffed lightly at the memory of Axel and his....odd personality. "Yes, he did always say that. I always called him lucky if that's all his was. Mine is a bit more....let's just say volatile. Though, I pray you never find out personally." Vanilen was, of course, referring to the blood link. Humans got a taste of what it was like to have that beast inside of you and it wasn't uncommon for some of them to be permanently scarred from it, depending on how present The Beast is. In Vanilen's case, he hadn't preformed thr link after his 3rd partner. He instead just fought in tandem with his partner and that was usually enough to get by. Hopefully, he wouldn't even need to do that with Julia.

The soldier returned her salute softly and gave her nod of understanding as she went off to do whatever it was instructors did for their classes. Vanilen had been offered that position as well but it takes a person of a much warmer heart than him to run a class of impressionable youngsters.

The officer eventually left the area and followed the scent of the only other 100+ year old in the entire academy. It appeared that he was locked in conversation with one of the new students. By the looks of em, Vanilen didn't expect anything of the two except a heartbreaking death when one or the other died. Such as it was with twins.

The younger elder vampire waiting for Silentium to finish before approaching and giving him a respectful bow rather than a salute. The gesture was more of a greeting for the pureblooded and Silentium was the only one he preformed it for. Him and Vanilen's sister whenever she came around to torture him a bit.

Francis Gundyr

The bigger male easily stepped into Tyson's open arms and wrapped him in a manly bear hug before releasing him. He took a step back to observe if what his old friend was saying was actually true and via keen observation, Francis figured that Tyson wasn't lying. He had certainly bulked up a bit and was looking much more like a man then his soft self from the past. He still looked softish but at least it was a manly soft. Similar to a fluffy lion.

"Well mate. I look forward to the day you prove me wrong. Though you should probably remember that I 'ave been fighting all my life and that 'asn't changed since we last met. You got a lot to live up to Ty." Francis spoke like some strange mixture between an older brother and sworn rival. The merc was truly excited to see how the other man had grown but that doesnt mean that Francis ever stopped growing either.

Then his attention was turned to the twin sister of his friend, to which he offered a nod of his head and wink. He remembered that Aceline was never the type to talk much but she looked as though she got worse with age. Instead of being anti-social and quiet, now she was anti-social and sassy. Still, the mercenary had fond memories of the three of them together playing around as children.

Though that didn't stop Francis from seeing Ace as a member of the other sex, as when Tyson revealed some hilarious information, Francis cracked into open laughter while they jabbed at each other. After they were done and he had regained his breath, he attempted to make her feel less flustered "Don't worry about it Aceline. At the time, it was perfectly mutual. I just didn't have the luxury of telling you due to my occupation." He said honestly. He hoped it would help her feel a little less embarassed. It was a childhood crush but they were both adults now and things change. Though, she was still very beautiful there was no dying that.

"Well, either way, I just wanted to say hi before I went back to the dorm to organize my stuff. Nice seeing you two. Stay safe." He said brightly as he waved his goodbye and turned to walk down the opposite direction.

Alois Jäger

Purple irises lit up with glee as Candice accepted his handshake with an acceptable amount of enthusiasm and gripped her hand with just as much. Alois cocked his head to the left slightly as his eyes roamed over Candice's form, her body language expressed her friendly and welcoming demeanor as far as he could tell. It wasn't hard for him to notice the lingering gaze that seemed to focus on his mouth, specifically his fangs. He had forgotten that some humans are prone to being weary around his kind for fear of being drained as if all vampires were batshit crazy. "I am German, born and raised! It's nice to make a new friend like you Candice, hmmm I think I'll call you Candi from now on. Candi sounds a lot cuter." Alois stood there for a second as he shifted his weight from each foot before realizing that he hadn't responded in a way befitting of a noble. "Oh I forgot to ask but, where are you from Candi?"

TIME SKIP: 2 HOURS

The students set up their personal rooms to their liking within the two hours of downtime that was given to them, along with idling about. Some made friends while others made rivals and others just kept to themselves for the remainder of the time. Regardless of what they did, eventually the time came when they all had to move to their respective classes.

(Player characters will be in the same class together for simplicity and organizations sakes)

As the students of Class Foxtrot collectively trickled into the classroom, they would have waited awhile to find that there was no professor in sight. None at all. Upon further examination, a note was taped up on the black board that read,

" To all new students,

Proceed to the training fields. We will not be starting today off with books and reading! We have something a little more fun planned for you guys. Plus it will be a good way to get to know one another.

With love,

Professor Kilton"

Confused but willing, the students of Foxtrot followed the directory until they arrived at the training fields. The fields were vast and contained all manner of obstacle courses, arenas, practice dolls, training equipment, and even
environmental battlefields. But all of this paled in comparison to the huge black doors at the end of the fields. There stood one massive black building. The only building in the entire fields. The building shaped like a colossal rubix cube, at least 7 stories high and equally as wide. The students would see another note that was directing them to enter the building. Cautiously, they swung the giant, black doors open and inside was an empty space the size of the building itself. The inside was a dull grey color. Rather bland to look at but completely flawless in painting. The solid dull color all around gave the illusion that the building got even bigger the more you stepped inside of it. It was like entering a separate dimension. There would be no way to tell where the end was or even where one was standing as the inside of the doors was colored that same, mysterious grey. The door began to fade away as the students walked deeper inside, there only point of reference being a random, red haired man standing a ways off beside a raven haired woman.

As they got closer, the pair looked over to the crowd of students with a smile and a quick salute. The red haired man took a step forward

5f2b2eefa027fed3f657f34894602755.jpg

"Yo! Hello Foxtrot! I'm Professor Kilton and I will be teaching you guys the greatness and glory of combat. I will be teaching tactics against humans and vampires, magical application, war strategies against The Rot . My wife over here, Lana Kilton..." The male paused for a moment and whispered loud enough for the class to hear, "Just call her Professor Lana so we don't get confused." He then returned to his normal octave, "Will be teaching a wide variety of martial arts, physical conditioning, and Blood Links."

The red head took a step back and the tall raven haired woman, now known as Professor Lana stepped forward to where her husband had been standing.

2175f67874028b3293435c807ccdc2fd.jpg

"There will be some classes that we teach together and others that we will teach separately. Do not think that gives you reign to get away with things when one of us isn't teaching that day. My husband and I hold no secrets from each other. You will treat us with all the dignity and respect that you would treat any officer. Any one who violates this will receive severe punishment from yours truly." "You guys really don't want that." "Silence Harold."

"Either way, you will be taught everything you need to know about battle. Whether that be against the mutual enemy of the Earth... The Rot..... or against a nation that may decide that the Academy of Byrgenwerth is nothing but a nuisance. We are both masters in our respective fields and we expect to be treated as such."

The woman, Lana, took a step back and allowed her husband to take the front once again and he smiled warmly at the students, "Now, Professor Lana wanted to run you guys through an ABSOLUTE living hell for a training session on your first day but I was able to talk her out of it. You can thank me later, believe me."

"Instead, what we are going to do is show you guys the importance finding a partner."

"I'm sure you guys have heard stories of the Blood Link and what it entails or what it means and how it works and blah blah blah rumor gossip rumor. We will teach you about the Blood Link but today I think it would just be best to SHOW you what the blood link is like. The trust that is needed.... and the great power it can unleash."

The somewhat laid-back professor shoved his hands into his pockets and let his brown eyes sweep over his new class this year. This looked like a pretty good batch this year. Last year's batch wasn't anywhere near as promising.

"So.... any question before we begin your first lesson recruits?"

Excited. That was the one word flowing throughout the red-haired pyromancers mind as she eagerly bounced around the campus towards the auditorium, she'd been practically exploding with energy since the moment she arrived, rushing from this to that with boundless enthusiasm as she checked out the dorm room she was allocated and wasting no time in going off towards the next location.

Once arriving she'd taken a seat near the front, watching in wonder and amazement at the presentation but more so at the amount of people in the huge building, she'd never seen anything this big before in her life! Was this what the city was like? She could barely keep her lips sealed during the headmasters speech, she just wanted to get out there and!- well, quite simply put punch something. Once finished she stood quickly to the point of almost tripping on her seat and face-planting into the ground in front of her, a light pink blush covering her light complexion as she saluted the man and the mysterious looking woman behind him, she couldn't help but send a shiver down Yume's spine, someone she'd defiantly be careful not to get on the bad side of, that was for sure.
_______________________________________________________________________

After leaving the building she'd mostly just continued to explore the large grounds of the school, attempting to speak to a few people but either becoming too embarrassed to continue speaking or fumbling over her words so badly that she just let the slightly traumatised students leave. It didn't take her long to unpack her things properly, there wasn't that many of them after all, being raised in a dojo meant that a roomy-area wasn't really where you slept, that was reserved for training. Her bedroom had only been roughly the size of a broom-cupboard and she was perfectly happy with it, but this was the kind of space she'd only dreamt of having and in the end her stuff filled up so little of it that she made note to try and purchase some more items so that it didn't look quite so empty.

Heading to class she adjusted her clothes and combed through her slightly messy hair once with a hand to make sure she was at the very least presentable, after all everyone around here all seemed so 'fancy'. Though upon arriving into the classroom with her fellow students all that was found was a note attached to the board, following the directions she came face to face with the impressive training grounds, her excitement only continuing to grow as she held in what most would consider a rather girlish scream for the otherwise tom-boyish female. It was only when approaching the gigantic building she thought of the odd note properly, "Wait- did that note say love?~…." She couldn't help but blink a few times, giggling a little in a nervous manner as she tried to think of what this professor could be like.

Entering through the ominous black doors had been not so much scary for the girl but thrilling and she ran into it as quickly and blindly as an innocent child, luckily coming to a halt in front of the two prior arrivals, "Wow! This place is awesome!?" She yelled out into it, throwing her hands into the air before calming herself down a little to listen to the pair speak, each taking it in turns. The male seemed pretty much as she'd expected from the kind of notes he'd left, but she had to admit the woman was a different story, they seemed like a totally odd pair, the female so refined and well-mannered and the male…. Oh, what was that word she was thinking of again?

Either way she stood there patiently once he'd finished speaking, glancing around for a few moments before it suddenly came to her, "A cowboy!…." She said a little too loudly towards the man, pointing to him in an oblivious manner before slowly lowering her hand and turning a shade not unlike a beetroot, "Did I- say that out-loud? oops." She muttered under her breath.

Mason Patch
Mason had finally indulged in a cigarette, and his anxiety ebbed immediately after. After, he had returned to his room to snack out of the care package his parents sent him off with. He would be tempted to nap, but he didn't want to risk missing his first class so soon after arriving at the school. So he had set up at his desk instead, flipping through his graph paper for a blank page before starting to draw. He knew his weapon's design by heart, and he began by scribbling it onto the page. Then he would go ahead and make adjustments, numbers in his head with each stroke of the pencil. After the two hours...He would get no where, and he'd growl in frustration before tossing the crumpled work into the trashcan. He looked over at his unmade bed and unpacked bags, deciding that there were better things he could've done with his time--but now it was too late. Glancing at his phone, he released a long sigh. It was time for class.

He shuffled along with other students to the training grounds. He was happy he wouldn't be diving straight into heavy textbooks, but he found himself apprehensive of what was to come. He loved being around other people, but having to interact with them was difficult. Hopefully he'd finally have some time with Reiner either in class or after...Though as he entered and gazed around, he only saw other first recruits. He tugged at his scarf, eyes flickering to the couple that stood before the class.

He listened politely--as you should to your professors--and occasionally allowed his gaze to wander around at the other students. Then he felt a little sick as they jumped right into a speech about partners. Mason already knew his partner. He didn't want to have to be paired up with a stranger and hope they didn't hat him. His gaze wandered--maybe Rin at least made it into glass. Granted, she wasn't a vampire, and he couldn't very well practice some sort of Blood Link with her. So when the students were asked if they had any questions, Mason hesitantly raised his hand.

He blinked at the fiery red head who seemed to be shouting nonsense at the professors. But he remained quiet until he was called on. Then--maybe jumping the gun--he would ask, "What if we already have a partner?"

Mira Kingston
On her way out of the auditorium, she would pause to eye a soldier. He was conversing with a blonde, but unlike the raven haired headmistress, she did not recognize him. He had the classic red eyes and a crest on his person. She felt like she should know him, and her brain rummaged through names and faces she grew up so close to...And none fit. If he was one of them, why would he be here, risking life and limb to protect the world? Risking being caught staring, she would narrow her gaze in some confusion before quickly continuing. It was not something she wished to confront day one.

Mira quietly ducked out of the auditorium--one of the first, free from the crowd and small talk. Her first instinct was to return to her dorm room. There, she put on a cheesy action film to play off her large laptop. Then she unpacked her belongings as she listened to it play. She didn't have anything to decorate the walls with, but she was able to fill her closet and dressers with a variety of black clothes. She made her bed, which would also be covered in black. And finally, she put in heavy curtains to block out the bright, bright sun. It was distracting.

Her unpacking wouldn't take the whole two hours nor the movie, however, so she took a moment to braid her hair, watching herself in the mirror. Mira did not smile at herself, but she slowly ran her hand over the braid, relaxing at the soft touch of her gorgeous blue hair. With a glance at the clock, she found she still had most of the time to do as she pleased...So she turned off the movie in exchange to spend time in an online world where she didn't have to worry about purebloods or The Rotten or making friends in a new school.

Mira arrived late to the training grounds, just in time for an obnoxious red head to yell at the teachers. Her gaze narrowed at the human, the best she could come up with in her mind being "Well, at least she is genuine." Shoving the thought aside, she would glance between the two professors and silently take her place among the crowd of students. She may have missed something important, but she didn't seem particularly concerned. Like many others, she would be thankful to skip out on reading dull text books, and she was even hesitantly excited to see what sort of training the new recruits would be facing.

For the duration of her break, Ryan had slowly unpacked all of her things. She hadn't been in a hurry and if she was honest, hadn't really felt like doing anything. Still it had needed to be done. She had set about opening the few boxes Loren had given to her, his words on the matter being, "You are way too lazy to have remembered even the most basic of items. I bought them for you. Forgetful nerd." He had smiled so brightly at her that she couldn't stop the similar one from breaking out on her own face.

He hadn't been wrong. Luckily for her, she had such a caring best friend. Inside of the carefully packed boxes were things she really hadn't thought of. Toiletry items, a set of sheets, a warm blanket, a few comfortable looking pillows, some packages of underwear, a few bulk buys of her favorite drinks and snacks and at the very bottom of the very last box, her mothers leather armor, reconstructed and custom tailored to her body. The mixed cocktail of emotions that had swept through her had been something she couldn't describe.

After that little surprise, her mind had shut down on her. She had moved as if on autopilot and finished unpacking the rest of her belongings.
-----------------

She was still in a sort of daze, up until her Professors started talking. Her mind seemed snap back to itself and she watched them with a laser focus. At the mentioning of partners, Ryan felt herself tense up. She had known it was coming, but it didn't make the reality of it any easier. She had seen what the loss of a partner could do to someone. Honestly, she wasn't very sure she could handle it. She couldn't handle being dependent on someone. Not now. Not after being on her own for so long.

What if she didn't like her partner? What if her partner didn't like her? What if they weren't compatible?

A loud, irritated sigh escaped her lips and she ran a frustrated hand through her wavy white hair. Great, this was already turning out to be a disaster.

ASSEMBLY

Gehrman was just another one of the fresh faced young pupils stepping off the bus and into the impressive auditorium. Never before had he seen such an amazing place, and filled with some many promising youngsters. There were a few of the other students that caught his eye as they pass before him, a few incredibly cute looking students that is. But he just rubbed the back of his head and breathed out a heavy sign of discomfort. "Being stuck in a school again, and in such uncomfortable clothes is a real chore, I hope I can get to the fun stuff soon." He thought to himself as he adjusted the collar of his shirt. He felt like he was being strangled by his clothes, and no amount of pulling or tugging would give him the relief he wanted. The first chance he got he would be rid of the damnable clothing for something that is a bit more comfortable.

By the time he was done adjusting his collar and gritting his teeth in frustration he realized most of the students had already packed into the building, and found their respective seats, and now it was his turn, though easier said then done as nearly every one of those seats had been filled, and he couldn't spot anything in the growing darkness, so he slunk over to one of the corners of the room, retreating into his jacket as if making himself small would turn him invisible. He'd hope none of the senior officers would notice. Gehrman may have thought he was a tough guy, but some of those vampires and battle hardened humans looked terrifying as shit. So he would stay quiet.

The man on stage was probably one of the most badass looking of them all, meaning he rightfully earned his position. Gehrman was hanging on every word, though he was surprised at how short that would be. In the movies people always make some emotion moving speeches that drive soldiers to tears, and muster the fears of even the most stubborn coward, but the Dean's words were concise, to the point, and overall had an impact. The lights soon followed the salutes and the applause, which he awkwardly tried to mimic, much to the annoyance of a senior that was standing all but two feet away from him. He bit his lip and tried to hurry out, having already caused trouble. Normally he would be more confident, but something instilled a feeling of unease into him since he got here, it was probably all the vampires. When one of them were hungry he always got scared shitless.

AFTER THE MEETING

Now that he was out of the auditorium he finally felt like he could breath again, and he let out a heavy breath with head hung low. "Whew that was easy, nothing to it really." He said all to himself as if boasting to impress some chick. He stood back up, straightening his back and dusting off an imaginary piece of dirt from his shoulder. "Now I should probably unpack my crap and head to class, I don't want to be late, and I can't wait to see who I am going to be paired with." He knew enough about the school that he was going to be paired with a vampire at some point, but he was excited enough alone just to meet his other class mates, he might finally make a friend. After spending so much of his time alone or on the street it was more than a little refreshing for him to get some real interaction in. He was sure anyone he would meet would be impressed by his stellar attitude, and maybe he could even find some like minded individual, or another pyromancer. The thought set a fire in his heart that blazed as hot as the sun. As giddy as a little girl at school he merrily skipped to his dorm room with his backpack swinging left and right, hitting him in the back every few steps, but it bothered him not. He was going to show this school exactly what he was made off.

He made it to his room, and when he turned the door knob, and opened to see what awaited him he was surprised. It was a spacious room that was kept impeccably clean and tidy, and was nicer then anything he had known for a long time. Having once been stuck in a cramped one bedroom apartment with his grandfather, he was use to sleeping on the floor or a pull out couch, for once he had a real bed all to himself. One that he was all to happy to flop on, and toss his bag to the side. He had been traveling for so long that he couldn't help but surrender his eyes to the weight he felt pressing them down, and let the blackness swallow him up.

Time passed by without his consent and he was sure that everything would be okay, but the minutes quickly turned to an hour, plus more and when his eyes shot open he realized that he had ten minutes to get ready, and book it to class or he would be late. He practically tore off his shirt, and flung his bag back onto the bed so he could rummage through it like some rabid raccoon in search of a more comfy shirt. He bolted out the door slamming into walls on more then one occasion. His head darted left and right looking for the classroom. "Shit shit shit, I'm going be late, where the hell is everyone?" He said sprinting down the halls until he finally found the room. The panic and exertion for such a full forced sprint left him out of breath and he took huge breaths trying to catch his breath, looking much the fool to the entire class. "Don't worry, I'm here, I'm here. Whew!" He let out a laugh. Though his face quickly contorted into a confused expression when he saw everyone gathered up on the black-board, and joined the little party to see what it said.

"To all new students, Proceed to the training fields. We will not be starting today off with books and reading! We have something a little more fun planned for you guys. Plus it will be a good way to get to know one another. With love, Professor Kilton"

"Dude nice! No reading on the first day, this is my kind of school." He blurted out with a gleeful smile. Whoever the professor guy was he liked him so far. Combat training sounded much better, plus there was going to be some mingling, maybe he could find a cute boy or girl to hang out with. He did notice there was a red headed girl who looked as excited if not as lost as him. He could feel the heat radiating off of her, another pyromancer. He would be sure to say hello once he got the chance.

So he followed all the other students through the fields, past the many obstacle courses and training equipment, and lurked leisurely behind the girl Yume. When they got inside the massive black-grey structure the first thing he did was look up. It was massive, and he idly wondered if he threw a fireball if it could hit the ceiling, and stoking the flames of his ego he bet that he could, but held off since there were two more senior looking people in the building near the middle. Crap one was a hungry looking vampire.

The man gave something of a speech about how much he loved his evil and cruel wife, or something along the lines, he hadn't really been paying attention much. He liked the man, but the woman he felt pretty iffy about. She held an air of dominance that could crush most people under it's weight, and she had a hungry look in her eyes like all the students here were just part of some buffet, or at least the human ones. It made him feel a little bit uneasy, so he decided to switch his focus back to the male professor, Kilton. That was until the fire haired girl screamed that he looked like a cowboy, and Gehrman couldn't help but snicker at that and nudge her with his elbow. "Dude he does look like a cowboy, I'm glad somebody else see's it." He shared a laugh with the flustered looking girl. "Good to meet you, I'm Gehrman Hunter, what's your name pretty thing?"

Kamiya Akihiro and Yamada Hanako

"Yo, Hanako, where were you earlier," Akihiro asked.

"Just taking care of things with Humura-sensei," she replied in a whisper.

"I see, I see. But you know..."

"It's important to be punctual," Hanako completed his sentence, "but it was a bit of a pressing issue." She then patted Yasuomaru to show Akihiro what she meant. He nodded after realizing the importance of their meeting. That blade was a family heirloom signifying that Gin had nominated his successor as head of the Yamada clan. Though it seemed kind of odd that Gin wouldn't have given the blade to Hanako himself unless there was some other issue. He drove those thoughts out of his mind to try and focus on the lesson at hand. An interesting concept, The Link, the ability to forge two persons souls together to form one fighting force with a vampire and human sharing each other's greatest strengths.

Next to him was another student who seemed rather distressed. Deciding to be the least bit kind, Akihiro decided to comfort her, patting the student on the back. "Shinpai shinai de," Akihiro said to her while smiling calmly. Hanako averted her gaze from him, though she was sort of jealous.

Ryan Decker

Ryan tensed as she felt the hand on her back. Her first instinct was to pull away and so she did. Her hands came up quickly into a fighting position. When she heard the man speak, her arms slowly dropped, but not all the way. "I'm not worried." She said quietly to him, not wanting to cause a scene. "I'm irritated." After a moment of assessing the threat level, her hands finally dropped from their defensive position. "I don't want a partner. Yet here I am, being told I'm gonna need one." She ran her hand through her hair again, a habit she had picked up over the years. One she was sure would only get worse before it got better.

She didn't like being touched, but she also didn't want to be rude. She could tell that the guy in front of her hadn't meant any harm and was trying to be kind. Something she hadn't really experienced much of in her life. Deciding not to be the dismissive asshole she usually was, her head bent in a somewhat awkward but genuine bow. "Names Ryan. Ryan Decker. I appreciate your kindness but please don't touch me." Her blue eyes wondered over to the girl standing next to him and she gave the same polite yet awkward introduction.

Freyja Wionne

He was an easygoing, rugged man with wild hair, faded clothing, a ripped leather jacket, fingerless gloves, chains and boots. She was an intense, crisp and neat lady, with impeccable looks, hair as black as night, and wore clothes that accentuated her body, especially the legs that seemed to go on forever. The two instructors were just one more evidence that love bloomed in the strangest places. Freyja quietly nodded as she stored this at the back of her mind. Furthermore, it would appear that the lady would be the one giving lessons on physical conditioning and martial arts. Byrgenwerth was indeed quite interesting.

She let them talk and banter. They made to seem like an uneasy couple, but Frey could see more to their relationship than that. They smoothly transitioned between each other, almost as if they were two halves of a whole. They did not complete each other’s sentences, but instead, they complemented the other in merely their dialogue alone. They were partners. The more she studied them, the more the little gears in Frey’s own hand turned. If a Blood Link was based on trust, then perhaps these two were on a completely next level than initial appearances would imply.

Frey rubbed her chin, thinking, and formulating a proper question in her head when Professor Kilton offered to answer some for them. She duly ignored the sudden outburst from one of the girls present. The next voice came from one of the boys, this time, a proper question. Murmurs began to rise in the background. She shut them out and thought for a bit.

She raised her hand, then said to the professors slowly, “Excuse me,” as if she were unsure of her own words and how to pronounce them. “You are saying that we will be partnered.” She paused for a short moment, then continued. “How will it be done? Trust cannot be forced.” She paused in between each and every sentence, leaving a gap between each of them, and made them short and simple.

Idris Alder
After orientation the two siblings returned to their respective rooms to finish unpacking and relax for a bit before their first class of the day, even though the siblings were close, they still needed some time away from the other at some point otherwise they'd get sick of each other. Idris spent the better portion of his time in his room where he finally finished unpacking his own things, having spent most of his initial time at the academy helping his younger sister move in. He quickly got the place in order putting his things away and tidying up the place like the neat freak he is. Once everything was in place the boy found himself laying back on his bed as he considered his situation. Byrgenwerth academy... how on earth his sister had decided to come to here of all places he didn't understand, she had never been much of a fighter, so why come to an academy for the toughest of the tough, dedicated to fending off human and vampire kinds worst enemy? It was uncharacteristic of her, and it worried him deeply... At least he was here to help if she needed it, and, well he might as well enjoy himself while he was here too. There were plenty of interesting characters around to talk to and now that he was on his own out here he had no reason not to. It would be a new start here and Idris was excited to see where it would lead, for him and Emily.

His thinking was interrupted by a subtle buzzing coming from his coat pocket, which he reached into to produce his phone, checking to see that the alarm he had set was going off and he had 15 minutes until his first class. With a shrug he thrust the thing back into his pocket and stood slowly to grab his things. Slinging the black backpack over his shoulder he set off towards his first class of the day. It was exciting to say the least, Idris was curious as to what they would be learning on the first day of school. The ever present question of just who he would chose to partner with loomed in his head, but he brushed it aside, when the time came he would find someone he liked. His first thought had been that he would simply partner with Emily.. but she was being weird about it so he didn't really trust his odds with her. After being redirected from his classroom to the training fields he entered the grey building after a few other students and watched as the two professors gave their introductions. The two of them were interesting in their own right, like night and day they hardly seemed compatible with each other, but Idris shrugged the thought off, love blooms in the strangest of places after all.

Emily Alder
A small yawn escaped the young vampires mouth as she made her way back to her dorm, already worn out from the long day she had been through with the flight over, unpacking and then the orientation. The first thing she did when she entered her dorm room was plopping down onto her bed and nodding right off, only to wake up around an hour later, no less weary than she was originally but cautious about nodding back off again when her first class was so soon. Sitting up on her bed she decided to prepare for the bust day ahead of her. She reached for her bag, a brown bag that hung at ones side by a single strap which she began to fill with things she thought she'd need, namely notebooks, pencils and the like as well as textbooks and a few books from her personal stash, just in case she had some free time to read. After making sure that she was properly prepared for todays classes Emily decided to doodle in one of her notebooks while she waited to head out, nothing in specific really just whatever came to mind.

As it finally came time for her to leave she grabbed her things and headed out the door towards her first class of the day. Only to be shocked when she noticed that they wouldn't be doing anything in the classroom, but instead were meeting in the training field. With a small sigh she made her way out in that direction, hopefully whatever they were doing wouldn't be too physically intensive just yet.. she was nervous about just how she could rank up among her fellow classmates, worst case people might even see her as weak and she would have a hard time finding a partner, a thought that only served to make the girl worry more. Lost in thought on the way towards the great building where the rest of her classmates were clearly going in to she couldn't help but bump into a few people along the way, muttering brief apologies before moving along. Quit worrying! Everything will be fine! she told herself, taking a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm her nerves, it was already difficult being around so many people without having to worry about things like potential partners. Everyone seems nice here, don't freak out. That thought helped a bit, after all it seemed most people were just as interested in making friends as she was. Emily listened to the two speak, seemingly put at ease by how casually the two instructors spoke to the class and with each other. They seemed nice, helpful even, clearly she didn't have to worry about anything among so many friendly faces.

LEE HYO-RIN

Wrinkling her nose, Rin tilted her head to the side and snickered. Unlike Mason, she didn’t really worry about being overheard, instead talking with a smile, tone light as ever. “Old? Nah, I think you’ll be able to tell if a vampire is older than they look, right? Like they’ll look or sound wiser. Or at least, that’s how it was with the older ones I met. I reckon they’re just hungry. Or, you know, jittery from nerves. Wouldn’t blame them if they were, honestly.”

It took a lot longer than she liked to finally be faced with fresh air again, and RIn thought it was high time she returned to her room to prepare for their first lesson. Apparently Mason seemed to have similar thoughts, for he quickly bid goodbye. “Haha…I should probably be thanking you instead. I’ll see you later and make sure you don’t be late to your first class!”

By the time she managed to navigate her way through the vast Academy grounds back to the dorms, the two hours of downtime had dwindled to an hour and a half. Fortunately, she didn’t have a lot of personal possessions to arrange. There was only a few articles of clothes, another pair of sneakers, some books, her power fists and various gifts from her family and friends. Things that she would not be using in the near future went into her backpack and occupied a corner of the provided wardrobe. Everything packed away neatly, Rin set an alarm for twenty minutes before class started and spent a good few minutes studying the map of the school in order to remember which route to take. When the alarm finally went off, she was fiddling with her notebook, jolting down the components of her chosen weapon that she would definitely need spares for.

Dumping the notebook on the bedside table with her pen tucked between two pages, Rin hastily made her way out of the room and towards the location of her designated classroom. It was a bit surprising to read the message on the board, and she thanked her lucky stars she opted to stay in her sweats and hoodie. Training fields meant physical training…at least that was something she had confidence in.

Said training field was something beyond even her wildest imagination. A single glance over the entire place revealed all kinds of obstacle course, training dummies, equipment, etc. She would dearly like to challenge herself on a course sometime in the future. However, for now, she headed towards the black building far ahead where figures could already be seen entering. The black double doors were rather intimidating at first sight, and the interior didn’t help either. Vast as it was, she couldn’t help but feel trapped. Nonetheless, her disposition brightened as she spotted the two professors. Their demeanour and speech certainly lived up to her expectations, and she focused on their every word. However, she couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed when Professor Lana finally finished. So they weren’t getting started straight away. Understandable, seeing as it was only the first day. Eyes darting around to take in the unique mix of individuals that made up Foxtrot, Rin raised her hand almost immediately to ask a question, only to draw it back down when a rather muscular woman asked a similar question she had been wondering. Also, why were they showing the students the effect of Blood Links when most didn't have a partner yet?

The pair of instructors expected many things to be asked or said. The reaction among new students was always the same. Worry, wonder, doubt, excitement, and sometimes all of those at the same time. However, even the harsh Professor Lana could not stifle a small giggle when one of the students suddenly blurted out that her husband looked like some kind of cowboy. She covered her mouth and turned to look the other way, any way except at Professor Kilton.

The professor in question looked at the girl for a moment before cracking a smile and shaking his head lightly. He had half a mind to defend himself but he decided to let her be. After all, she turned as red as her hair after she realized what she just blurted out. An good icebreaker if nothing else, which is funny considering her knack for pyromancy. Though after that, the legitimate questions started to arrive. They were the usual concerns so Professor Kilton lifted a hand from his pockets and gestured through the air as he answered the common things one by one in the order asked.

"If you're already partnered, it can only mean you were assigned to an officer of this school because your personality and powers complimented them well. That or you knew them from before. So if that's the case then good luck. You won't be seeing any action anytime soon but they will be training you personally when we aren't. Hope you have a nice one."

The red head moved on to the second question asked by the rather large, muscular woman, "Of course not. Other academies in the world....well I should say most, assign partners according to complementary abilities. Brygenwerth does things a little differently. The first partner you ever make is one you must choose yourself."

"The bond is not something to be taken lightly and requires trust. So, that is why you choose your partners here."

..........................

Crimson eyes watched carefully, unseen to students of Foxtrot. So far there was nothing outstanding about this class other than it had more lone wolves than the others. That was a recipe for failure of Vanilen ever saw one. It was a damn shame as well. Quite a few good ones in this bunch, "Why is it that the young must always insist on doing things on their own? Even at their age, I believed in comradrie and team work. Unity. Yet, the only they seem to care about is themselves and their own agendas. People die because of idiocy like that." One might think that the Major was talking to himself but in reality, he was talking to the instructor(s?) that had had the same idea as him.

Willow Hallend

Willow grew bored easily in her dorm but didn't feel like going outside. She only had to wait a couple of hours to see some action, even if it was stuffing her nose in a book. Willow got out her sketchbook and a pencil and plopped on her bed. Her sketchbook was as thick as a book and extremely worn with frayed edges and the spine was barely holding the pages together. It had every drawing she ever drew in its pages and she had plenty more available. For her, the sketchbook was like a reference sheet. Every drawing had another one she had added when she gained more knowledge that provided a 3-d model of her drawing along with notes on how to properly animate it. Willow went back and added more information here and there if she could and so the cycle continued. She had a section of the sketchbook that she used for conversion meant to help with transmutation as well but she didn't add too much info there since it was one of her weaker points.

Willow sketched out a rare humanoid drawing and used her boredom to add meticulous details that she would normally not care to add until she saw that it was time to go. She had a few minutes to spare so she changed her outfit to her normal black bodysuit and combat boots that looked kind of weird on her and left.
She shoved past people to get to the blackboard to read what everyone else was looking at and she smiled happily when she saw that she wouldn't have to be in a cramped classroom.

The instructors soon introduced themselves and Willow was rather taken aback on how..nice they seemed. She expected one of the old vampires who looked like they sucked happiness as well as blood to teach. It was even more interesting that the two instructors were married and got to teach together. Willow took notice of the lady's really long legs as well and tried not to laugh.

Willow apparently wasn't the only one who had commentary on the instructors. Some girl called Professor Kilton a cowboy randomly and Willow rolled her eyes involuntarily. It was nice that people kept their childish nature but eventually they needed to get rid of it.

The professors moved on to more pressing issues about Blood Links and Willow realized she didn't have anyone. How was she supposed to just find a partner in this mess? Not everyone would be compatible with each other either. Willow sighed and scanned the area before resting on a face. She didn't have time to have a life story chat with every single person to find her perfect partner, so picking randomly would have to do. Willow made her way through the crowd and eventually made her way to the girl and stood in front of her. She looked nice enough and not childish either. Willow realized she had her normal piercing analytical gaze and softened her features and smiled warmly at the girl. She saw the tips of fangs protruding outwards and sighed in relief that she hadn't randomly approached a human that she couldn't even partner with.

"Hello there! I know we're supposed to actually have an understanding of the other person before talking about doing the Blood Link thing but I don't know anyone here therefore i'm just scouting the vampire population. My name is Willow by the way, nice to meet you."

Candice Roseden - 83/83

A couple of hours had passed since she met the boy named Alois, he was kind and definitely seemed nice. Walking into the room with a content look on her face, no longer filled with worry or confusion, she was ready to knuckle down and team up to fight for her home, then she saw the note. The smaller girl pushed through the other students to read it before following the flock of what seemed like nerves and anticipation to the area outside. Candice had admired the architecture along the way before the group came to a stop in a large training area, she then began admiring the facilities, creating elaborate team games and working out complicated obstacle courses. Then her gaze was snapped back to the man and woman before her. Rose chuckled at the mention of cowboy and mentally agreed accompanied with a nod. " I don't blame her," she chuckled again.

"The Link, sir, miss, does it come with mental problems, or to be specific, can they see into our heads and ours into theirs?" she asked a serious question, no one wanted their mind being read like a book by a stranger but she was happy to work as a group, excited really. "I'm excited for group work but will it push so deep?" Candice carried her question forward to whomever would answer it, stepping forward to the front so she could see and they could hear her better. She for one did not have a partner, no vampire had connections to her family until of recent and even then the Roseden Family made positions clear, don't overstep your boundaries. The human girl tilted her head, arms crossed as she stood with confidence in front of her instructors, she was interested to learn more, the Link was interesting.

Gerard Slepnine - 184/184 Frenzy 0/2
The vampire rolled his eyes, turning on his black polished heeled shoe back out the door and onto the Training fields, he straightened out his shirt, he had ditched his blazer in his dorm room, he was quit hot and Gerard didn't appreciate sweaty-ness unless he was actually working and moving. The vampires eyes darted to the girl with fiery hair and a matching face he chuckled smiling at her, adding a wink too. "How cute," he said aloud his right hand fiddling with his left cufflink on his long sleever shirt. He ran a hand through his hair and smiled at the vampire woman. Hot. That was all he could say, the seductive dress and the slit up her leg, she was gorgeous and he loved it. Too bad she was married. "Pfft, if I could find me a partner like you, I'd be a happy man," he said aloud flashing the crowd a dashing smile.

He listened to the questions asked and made a face at the question posed by the human girl, he did not want someone poking in his head and began rolling his eyes at that idea. "If they are giving me blood then what's the problem?" Gerard chuckled, half serious, half joking. Yeah no. No mind poking. Gerard looked at everyone around him, different people from all over the world but the most extraordinary and elite. It was interesting to say the least and Gerard was itching to get into the field and find his Link, hopefully not with the added mind reading.

"Ah good to see you again, brother Van. Yes... I am quite concerned with the well being of our comradery I fear the youngling won't be able to handle... the more intense emotions that come with being... well... you know the drill."

He paused only briefly to consider the information he had available to him.

"Although carefully examining his file.... he seems to be a rather promising candidate, besides... we have much time to work on getting to know one another. Ah!"

He looked down to the auditorium from the catwalk they were positioned on, overlooking the students through a one way mirror at the top of the gym.

"It appears that our new recruits are just arriving... time to tune in. Shall we?"

He gave a subtle point to his ears before leaning forward on the railing and listened to the two professors go through the routine of introducing themselves and the day's introduction. After a while he turned to Van once again.

"You'll have to forgive me but... I don't recall the name of your partner. How are they? Any foreseen problems of your own, old friend?"

EWALD REINER KLEIST

The two hours of downtime given before the first class of the first day started, Reiner spent it napping. He awoke thirty minutes before the scheduled time and decided to wander a little, exchanging conversations with the few staff and officers, learning bits and pieces of information and gossips he missed during the period he left the Academy for. There were surprisingly few new information he missed so Reiner found himself striding in the lone black building of the training fields slightly earlier than planned. Only a handful of students were present, so the vampire decided to head to the well-hidden observation deck where Vanilen, Silentium, and a couple other instructors were located.

Inclining his head in a respectful greeting to the pair of older vampires, he slipped into the next available space from where he could oversee the main area clearly. It didn’t take long before the majority of Foxtrot gathered and the lesson officially began with the introduction of Professors Lana and Kilton. Even as he observed the other students, he kept an eye on Mason. The boy looked the same as usual, maybe feeling a little out of place, but the nerves weren’t too obvious. However, as he scrutinised this class further, he couldn’t help feeling a smidge disappointed. There were a few tentative interactions between the students, but most seemed determined to have as little to do with anyone else as possible. That was a lot of headstrong individuals, which might spell the doom of Foxtrot even if quite a few looked to have combat experience.

“It’s a waste of energy to fret over this now. By the time they graduate or face their first battle, they would have learned to curb their headstrong personalities. If not, well…a few deaths due to stupidity might straighten them out, cruel as it may be.” Every class had a few lone-ranger types, even his. The deaths of a couple of them had served excellently as an example of why teamwork was essential. Reiner waved his hand in a half-circle to indicate the entire Academy. “But that’s what they are here for, isn’t it? To learn to trust, fight, survive, etc or have it beaten into them.”

Mason was most likely going to have to endure both, for Reiner was not going to go easy on him during training.

Emily Alder
Emily was stunned for a moment, she blinked and looked up towards the taller girl curiously, she had never had someone just walk up and start talking to her like this, it was odd. She watched her for a moment, the piercing gaze sending a shiver down her spine, what exactly was her angle she wondered? It was then that she noticed the awkward silence between the two and cleared her throat to speak up "oh! Er... nice to meet you" she said awkwardly "...My name's Emily.. um.. nice to meet you". It was already clear Emily was no conversationalist, she was already racking her brain for something else to say. This girl was looking for a partner, and it was true Emily was looking for one of her own as well, maybe they would work well together? Emily had no idea really, she didn't even know how to gauge weather or not they would be compatible! But then again she was trying to make friends here, she knew she had to branch out a bit, maybe it was worth the risk? This was a new chance for her! A chance to make a name for herself, to get some friends. Without wasting another moment worrying about it she spoke up once again "Ah yeah.. I don't really have a partner either.. I don't... really know how to get a partner anyways, are they assigned?" Quit mumbling! Ask her already! she lamented herself "A-anyways, if you don't have anyone else.. maybe we could pair up?" she suggested with a light shrug.

Kamiya Akihiro

"Sumimasen ne, " Akihiro replied in Japanese. He pulled his hand away and casually placed them back into his coat pockets. Realizing that Ryan could most likely not understand a word he was saying, then added onto the sentence the translation in his best English, "forgive me. My name is Akihiro. Akihhiro Kamiya." He then held out his hand to point toward his long time friend, "and this is..." Hanako stared at him, then looked away with disdain. Akihiro was embarrassed with her behavior, but he excused it anyway. "This is Hanako Yamada," he stated humbly, "it's nice to meet you, Ryan."

"Nice to meet you too," Hanako mumbled ungracefully while crossing her arms. She turned away and rested herself against Akihiro, only looking at Ryan every once in a while out of the corner of her eye.
