Hidden deep within the heart of New York City, and yet in plain sight at the same time, vampires have co-existed with humans for centuries. Co-existed is a relative term, perhaps, since the identities of these vampires went unknown by the people walking the streets right beside them. Nevertheless, they occupied the same city, walked the same streets, and participated in the same activities of daily living. For a while, it seemed like the only difference between the two species were the way they received their energy, and for a while, that difference was subtle enough to go unnoticed and allow for the peace to remain. In fact, peace may be an understatement. With the head of one of the three vampire clans acting as mayor of the city for years, they were more than accepted in the community and blended in well as humans.
It was only recently that things began to go wayward. The mayor died in what was concluded to be natural causes, with only the other vampires recognizing that it had to have been a murder. Who would murder the mayor, and why they would murder him are questions answered less easily. Tensions that have existed between the three clans have only heightened following this, and with a "them vs. us" mentality growing up the clans, the desire to just peacefully coexist with humans is beginning to seem less and less feasible by some.

Looking for literate, committed writers only :]. If you can't post 2x per week and give us a couple paragraphs per post, this may not be the right group for you. If you're up to it, however, please keep reading. We'd love to have you!

There's nothing worse than a roleplay overrun by one person, right? Let's keep the godmodding to a minimum, y'all (or... to a nonexistent level). While every character will have their strengths and weaknesses, no character will be particularly more powerful than another overall. None of the characters will have any supernatural powers outside of: immortality (they don't age and can recover from almost any injury), unnatural strength (stronger than humans), unnatural senses (better sense of sight, smell, hearing, taste, touch compared to humans), unnatural speed (faster than a human). It's possible that I would consider an extra power for an elder vampire but I would prefer not to to keep things level.

Involve everyone, and make an effort to be involved :]!

If you think you would enjoy writing with us, comment on this thread with the role that you would like to apply for and what you envision the character being known as within the group (ex. are they the leader, the brains, the joker, etc) so we ensure we have a nice diverse cast. This isn't a first-come, first-serve roleplay, so feel free to go for any role (even one someone else is trying for) unless it's officially marked as being "TAKEN". HUMAN || YOU PICK HOW THEY FIT IN
status: open.
Clan I: The Lucinius Clan
With origins dating back to the start of the Roman Empire, this clan has wavered in size and homelands over the years, but their ability to claim power wherever they landed has remained strong. They are widely known as the most respected and eloquent of the clans, even on an international level. The head of their clan had been mayor of New York City for nearly a decade, with the clan appearing to be the picturesque American family to the human world. To most of the vampire world, they were the perfect example of how species could co-exist, and how blending into society wasn't such a bad thing. With the death of their clan leader and a suspected murder case at that, the clan has been thrust into a state of chaos. Seated at the top of the food chain, they inevitably have made some enemies over the years. Between other vampires that saw them as goody-two-shoes and humans who found it incredibly difficult to be a criminal in a city now ruled by "people" who seemed to solve every crime that happened. Now, it's just time to figure out which one of them did it. Revenge, anyone?
Clan II: The Ventari Clan
While they may not have claimed such a powerful stance in the modern world, The Ventari Clan have proven themselves to be the bridge between the other two clans. They've held true to their vampire forms and haven't accepted humanity for all that's expected of them, but at the same time, they haven't attempted to cause any trouble among the humans. It's a good thing for everyone that they haven't, as they're recognized for as having the largest force in terms of size. Their ability to act as a united force on the surface and within is unique to their clan, and they tend to be the clan that tips the scales and allows decisions to be made among the community depending on how they feel. Some within the clan see The Lucinius Clan as mere puppet heads because of this. Could one of them went rogue and taken out the mayor to allow their clan to claim what may just seem like their 'rightful spot' at the top?
Clan III: The Abarra Clan
This clan may appear to be the least "family-like" in terms of the various walks of life that the vampires come from, but The Abarra Clan has a longstanding reputation of being one of the most welcoming clans to walk the earth. They think of themselves as the misfits of the supernatural society, and seem to make it their mission to go against the grain. If anyone's causing trouble in New York, it's probably one of these ones but with fellow vampires ruling the city, they've taken advantage of causing trouble with little to no repercussions. Could all the fun have gotten to their heads and they ended up having a little too much fun?
