Fantasy Vampire Familes RP (Still thinking of a name)

Battle-Sister May

Professional Heretic Slayer
So, still kinda new to the site and all that, but I wanted to go back into RP making! So, my first idea was to make something simple, so I thought "Why not vampires?" So, I'll describe what I have in mind!

Tl; dr: Two vampire families with different philosophies fighting over control of the world. Also, vampires were originally Egyptian.

Background

(Note: This is an alternate version of Earth.(Duh...))

Many centuries ago, Egypt was ruled by a queen once known as Neferis, a woman who was obsessed with that which every pharaoh feared: Death. Her intrigue was not something that came with the wish to rule forever (at least not at first) as was the case with many of the kingdom's rulers, but it was something that came to be after the death of her father, Amenhotep V. Her older brother stepped to the throne, and she went on to become a priestess of Anubis, breaking most traditions of her people, but mostly overlooked. In a few years, she was a well known ritualist, and skilled embalmer. She still had close ties to her brother, Emperor Seti I, and when she came to visit, they would spend hours talking about many subjects. But her favourite subject was one her brother preferred to avoid, and that was death.

But as years passed, her brother discovered himself dying from a disease in his lungs. He had bouts of violent coughing, most than not with blood. And he too started to see his sister's interest in the end of things. But his was a more selfish way, for he didn't want to die so soon. He asked his sister for help, and they prayed many times together so that the gods would grant him health, to no avail. Seti died not long after, leaving no heirs of his blood behind, and so it was that the crown fell upon his sister's head. Crowned as Queen Neferata I, she was thrown in a deep disarray and depression because of her brother's death, and from early on decided the same would not happen to her, that that same suffering would not be suffered by her peers. Apart from that, she was a good and benevolent ruler, always looking to the welfare of her subjects, but she had a dark desire. She planned to rule forever as the only queen of Egypt, she planned to achieve what no other ruler had ever attained, but all of them desired: Eternal life.

She tried many things, most of them based around alchemic concoctions, to no avail. Years went by as she tried to finally reach perfection in her elixir of life, but nothing came of it. She was about to give up when she was contacted by someone, a dark wizard known as Zamir the Black. Exiled from his own home, he looked for shelter, and in exchange, would present the queen with power unimaginable, the power over death itself. She accepted his deal, and, giving him shelter inside her own palace, she started to learn what he had to teach, in secret. Zamir was a powerful necromancer, one able to raise armies of undead in a whim, and from him the queen learned everything she could. Zamir had plans of achieving lichdom, but they were cut short when the queen ordered him executed as a traitor of the kingdom.

After the deed was done, she took her master's notes for herself, and using his ritual to achieve the form of an immortal lich as a base, she developed an improved ritual that would keep her youth eternal, with the use of black magic and fresh blood. And so the queen was set to rule forever. Neferis ruled for a whole century, and the people around her noticed how the queen never seemed to age, and how the children sent to work as servants disappeared without trace. Neferata did not sleep, drink or eat, and this distressed them. Before things could be unveiled, the queen picked those closest to her, namely her high priest, remaining siblings, husband and captain of the guard, and offered them a choice: To die, or to forever be at her side, and they chose the later. Now turned into immortal beings, those that followed the queen's wish and ritual were known as the Lahmia, and they proceeded to rule the empire with an iron fist for centuries to an end. And they were the first vampires.

It was snot until much later, when what remained of the priesthood that did not blindly follow their undying rulers rose against them, with a good number of their people to back them. They overthrew the Lahmian from the throne, killing 8 of Neferata's 11 in the process, leaving the queen herself, her husband and child. For them, a worse fate awaited. Exiled from their home, they were cursed by their own people, and the gods listened. The vampires would be immortal, yes, but forever thirst for blood, and their cold skins would sear in contact with the sun. Holy items would forever be shunned, and they would forever walk the lands as monsters in the dark. Their names were forever erased from history, so no one would remember the immortal once rulers of Egypt.

For years after the fall of the Lahmia, queen Neferata and her remaining ilk walked the lands, forever sheltering themselves from the accursed sun, but they were not so easily defeated. The ritual that once turned them vampires was impossible to reproduce, with how little resources they had. But her husband, an alchemist of his own, discovered that they did not need it. They simply needed to feed their now cursed blood to a willing subject, and new vampires would be created... The age of the vampires was not yet over, but only beginning, after all. They migrated with their new members to Europe, and the new "family" was known as house "Acheron".

Plot

Centuries later, after the ultimate demise of queen Neferata in the hands of a hunter, the vampires were split in two factions within the Acheron coven, both of them led by a brother. Mannfred Acheron led the vampires who believed they should do their best to hide themselves from humankind, and act with subterfuge and care. He knew that their kind would not last long if mortals decided to hunt them down, and saw acting subtly to be the best approach to ensure their survival, the same approach queen Neferata preferred for her followers. His twin brother, Lothar Acheron, thought differently. Lothar believed in the supremacy of their kind over the mortals, that should be their slaves and cattle. He wanted vampires to rise up and take what was theirs by right, since they were stronger, faster, and generally better than humans.

This divide in the leadership led to both factions splitting from one another, since a single leader could not be chosen from the two, and the dissolution of the Acheron strain. Two families rose from the conflict: von Carstein, led by Mannfred, and Draken, led by Lothar. Both differ greatly from one another, and fight over supremacy of the elder blood. Their conflict has finally reached a stalemate in the small town of Raven's Tower, England, said to be the final resting place of a powerful necromancer of old. The prophecy of blood, written by queen Neferata a few days before her death says that "(...) the line that claims the soul of the dark mage shall be the one to finally rule over the elder blood."

The Families

The vampire families (also known as "bloodlines") have since their split fought a cold war against one another, seeking to finally lay claim to the elder blood as theirs, and have the philosophy of their strain widespread among all vampires. They are described below:

- Von Carstein

The von Carstein bloodline was founded by Mannfred von Carstein after the death of queen Neferata (at the time known as duchess Isabelle Acheron), and follow a passive philosophy. They believe vampire-kind should hide themselves and pull the strings of fate from the background, making things go as they plan through influence and prestige. They prefer to abduct their prey and enthrall them, keeping them as personal human cattle. They are considered to be "civilised vampires", and tend to dress up in an outdated fashion, but always in haute couture. Their members will generally be part of the local high society, with great influence within the city. They are currently led by Vladimir von Carstein and his wife, Maria von Carstein. They tend to have white hair, and metal coloured eyes.

- Draken

The Draken strain was founded by Lothar Draken after the death of queen Neferata (at the time known as duchess Isabelle Acheron), and follow an aggressive philosophy. They believe vampire-kind should show itself to mankind and claim their place as rightful rulers of the world, and dominate them through force and power. They prefer to hunt their prey, killing them and leaving the body to rot on the spot of the kill. They are considered to be "feral vampires", and tend to mostly dress in the manner they want, but generally find a trait in dressing in dark clothing. The members tend to be part of the underground society, with some influence on the criminal world within the city. They are currently led by Seth Draken and his consort, Lana Draken. They tend to have dark hair and gem coloured eyes.

So far this is all I have. Anyone interested?

In the good or bad way?

In a good way. I like how detailed you made this world. But it can get a bit wordy which I think will initially scare people. Roleplayers tend to be lazy readers truthfully. I'd add a tl;dr at the top or bottom to sum up as to what the roleplay entails.

Thanks for the tip, placed a small tl; dr on top of it all.

If this ever gets its footing I can see myself as a Carstein. Or the black sheep of the Draken family.

I'm still thinking if I should add more bloodlines other than those two, but I think it would get too overwhelming and lose its focus. But, Carstein and Draken are both good options to follow. I forgot to add their physical particularities, I'll go do that now!

I'm interested! ^W^

Cool!

Interesting... Also, I love your Warhammer 40k signature~ I prefer the Tau... Don't blam me... But the rp seems great.

Tag me when you create the thread, I can't promise I will join, but I will see if something opens up and provides for space to join.

this is hella cool !

I love how you started with old Eygpt instead of the typical Victorian age vamps.

I'm interested and if you ever need help with anything, hit me up ✌️
