Welcome to Sheyne, a little village in the foothills of the Sheyne mountains. It’s the home of our heroes, a ragtag group of friends who periodically go exploring. You see, a long time ago, a great civilization existed, a civilization of wise men and women, of Magi. They had powerful magic capable of unthinkable power and destruction – and they used it. On second thought, maybe they weren’t so wise after all. The civilization of the Magi imploded, but the world kept turning. The secrets of their power have long since been lost, but remnants remain. Some of the spells and techniques have survived, many people are born with the Blessing of the Wyrm and are able to harness this magic for themselves. None however, have ever come close to reaching the prowess of the ancient Magi. … Which brings us back to our heroes, sifting through ancient ruins that are periodically uncovered by rockslides, hoping to find some artifact, some scrap, some clue to the Magi’s powerful existence. People would pay good money for that. Compounding their troubles will be the more sentient of their salvaged remains – free-willed war golems, immortal sleeping soldiers – and other scrappers who are very, very interested in their find. So interested, in fact, that they may have just caught the king’s attention.
