using new WoD attributes for Exalted?

X-Salted

Bust :(
Has anyone tried using the new WoD attributes for Exalted? Exalted 2nd ed still uses the traditional WW rules (which is still good in my book) yet I still find the appearance attribute to be lacking or of little use as an attribute. The only attribute changes in the NWoD is that appearance was turned into a merit, perception was reduced to a derived atrribute and replaced by Resolve. Since the NWoD game mechanics don't differ too much from the original WW rules I was wondering what are the pros and cons in implementing the new attributes to Exalted? If no one has tried it yet I guess I'll be the first.

Aye. Looks like I may have to create a whole bunch of charms for Composure and Resolve if I want to use those attributes. I'll give it a shot though this sounds like I will need a lot of time to brainstorm and research on.  If not then  I can always use the original rules. I only wish the appearance attribute could have been put to better use.

They've started to put them to better use in 2E; Hybrid Form is now based on it.  Also, there's the new social combat rules.

Personally, I wouldn't do it because it requires WAY too much thinking and reconfiguring involved, and then you have to let the players know all those house rule changes, which are a lot, and then it could get really really complicated.

I've thought about it too, but I think it would just be too much of a pain in the ass for all involved.

I am using nWoD Attributes and share your views on the Appearance Attribute, though I don't think this is the thread to get into yet another Appearance discussion. We have had a few rather long-winded ones already :)

In my games it works fine with Resolve and Composure replacing Appearance and Perception. I do not use the merit system any more, so a character's appearance is entirely up to the player to figure out. Gives the players a little more responsibility, as this can be exploited. We haven't had any problems with that in my group, though.

As to Lunars and alternative Attributes: I guess I should have sat down and given the Lunar charm tree a makeover, but I haven't. I think Im too lazy. It works ok, though. When we bump into a charm based off Appearance or Perception we just decide on the spot where to move it. Generally we convert Perception to Wits and Appearance to Composure or Stamina.

So far I have used Composure with Socialize (but not much) and Resolve with Lore (to determine how much the sorcerer got out of his studies). Generally we don't roll that many dice, so the stats are most of the time more a vague guideline for roleplaying, than actually determining what comes to pass ingame. Except in combat, of course :)

Hope it helped.
