Ursurper 1x1 (Mitheral and Becky)

Deruk was listening to what was said and sort of grinned at Katsya. She was funny as per usually. She felt alittle nervous about this new person. Who was this person? It felt like yesterday was years ago and now she was pulled into the politics world again. She smiled however and went to get ready. She didn’t know why she had to go with him to meet this person. Shouldn’t she just stay in the background since they weren’t really official yet like they talked about last night. They agreed that they were in love with each other . She didn’t know if it was because they actually liked each other or because they were both strangers in a strange land. Either way she didn’t care she was glad for him.

She was dressed up in jewels and she didn’t like it. At first they where to heavy and she asked them to be changed “Maybe something a little less heavy but still nice?” she suggested not wanting to see like she’s rich and powerful when in fact she too was just a slave who knew how to speck the right language. She remembered the time she spent on the slave boat and almost began to become afraid. She didn’t want to meet the person who thought it was okay to do that to people. She sighed sadly looking at herself in the mirror when she was finished getting changed. She was wearing a gold laced white top and something in-between a skirt and shorts which also matched her top. She thought the the cape thing was a little too much however she wasn’t in any state to process the strange worlds fashion sense. She shrugged and then was lead back to Duncan “Fashion here is weird” she says a little bit uncertain about her clothes. She examined the person as they both walked into the main meeting hall she assumed. She grinned sitting down as Duncan showed her, her seat to his right. She sat and narrowed her eyes looking across at the person in front of her. She said little and almost had no expression until she proposed that they both betrothed. She knew what that meant she smirked and almost laughed a little. She pushed her feelings aside and remained silent.

She looked at Duncan as he introduced her to the person. Her eyes widened as the muttering fell completely silent. Deruk felt a little embarrassed about this and blushed a little. Now the whole world knew they loved each other. She was hoping people would find out gradually like in a normal situation however they weren’t in normal situations anymore so she quickly composed herself. She smiled sweetly at Duncan then to the woman *

Chavi forced her expression to remain as neutral as she could. This was not a part of her plan. But she had been prepared for the possibility. She nodded her head toward Deruk. “Strange name. Foreign … as is yours. My congratulations. However, I should point out that what I speak of is a marriage of state. And neither Phaedon nor Stygea forbid a royal from having more than one wife. So again I would ask you, do you have so little regard for the lives of your people that you would not give time to consider this proposal. Besides, what if she is barren? An emperor should have many sons.”

Duncan’s own eyes narrowed. Somewhere in that state was a veiled threat. He frowned. “This is not a matter to which I will come to an instantaneous decision. It will require discussion with my betrothed and my Advisors. That is a discussion for closed doors. I will remind you of this, my first condition will require the freedom of all your slaves. That means if you have ANY claim to them, they will be freed. Until that is done, do not return. If I hear of a single drop of blood being shed as a result of this condition, do not return. If you leave my port with them, do not return.”

Duncan turned to Deruk, “Anything you want to add?”

*Deruk frowned looking at the woman it was true a king could have many wifes. She looked at Duncan and spoke in there own english " She wants you to marry her..." she says alittle sad and feeling as if she didnt want to share. She tilted her head her eyes widening as if she was seeing something strange she sat back and shook her head. She sighed looking at the woman examining her. She seemed horrible and bratty. She looked at him seriously and just shrugged "I dunno" she just says feeling alittle helpless "Atleast she'd be a good queen....she knows all this stuff better than me" she says sadly. All of this was in english "And all the slaves would be free either marriage or war...." she smirked over at the woman and narrowed her eyes she seemed honest enough and then there would be peace "But I dont want you to marry her" she adds with a smile "I dont want to share you....but if you have to for the sake of peoples lifes." she nodded*

Duncan truly considered this situation … unfortunate. He had honestly planned to invade Stygea in the course of time - but on his terms. He had no real wish for a truce. He hadn’t planned to speak at all in front of Chavi lest their faces betray their thoughts. Deruk was going to have to learn how to handle herself in a court better. But this was also one of her better traits. She was basically honest. And that he considered a far better quality.

He spoke in English as well. “I really don’t care to BE shared,” he grinned a little uncomfortably. “I know a lot of guys back home would die to be in my shoes, but …” He almost growled. “It sucks to be the King. Don’t worry about what you know or don’t know. Listen to your heart and leave the tough decisions to me. Just understand that in my absence you will have to find a way to lead. Have faith in yourself and our people will follow you.”

“Emperor,” one of Duncan’s older and more vocal Advisers spoke. “If one wife cannot produce an heir, than tradition dictates that an emperor should increase his chances. Perhaps you could begin your own harem - with the requirement that each harem girl be a volunteer.”

Duncan’s jaw dropped as he stared at the Advisor. He could swear he saw a twinkle in Attamir’s eyes. The old codger was the worst of the lot when it came to reminding him of all the traditions. He could swear the man made some of them up just to annoy him.

Duncan turned to Chavi. “Well, Princess Deruk says no. And I really don’t need a harem. But, I could use a maid. You’d be paid well for your service...”

“Maid!” Chavi looked angry. Her guards started to draw weapons.

Duncan was already on his feet his blade out. “Those blades clear their sheaths and that will be the last thing you ever do!”

“You are trying to provoke me!” Chavi stated angrily.

“Yes! And it is working. Do you realize this is one of the few times I have graced my own court not caked in mud lately? If you truly plan to be a wife of mine, you’ll learn the value of work. You will find life with me very hard. Is that what you truly want?”

“It was my father’s wish. I have my orders. And if I cannot secure an alliance, he …” Chavi stopped, her eyes casting to one side.

Duncan’s eyes scrutinized Chavi. He still didn’t trust the Stygean. But he was aware that royal and noble women were often valued only for the treaties they could secure. “I am going to have to think on this. You will be put up in guest quarters. Stygea is going to have to accept Phaedon laws - some of them. This business of slavery is non-negotiable. Before I will ever consider an alliance, Slavery will have to end in all of Stygea. The rest is going to take time to work out. Princess Deruk also voiced an opinion that would be correct. She was taken from her family before she learned many royal customs. And she is a stranger to ours. You … and my Chief Adviser, Attamir, will have a hand in teaching her customs and courtly behavior … if I take you on as … whatever. I haven’t quite decided yet.”

“So … that is negotiable?” Chavi’s smile returned.

Deruk frowned hearing the girls situation. She was also trapped in a web of things. It wasn’t really her wish to marry. Deruk smiled over at Chavi and thought maybe they could be friends. She narrowed her eyes and looked at Duncan and smiled. Deruk watched the men put away their swords and she was reminded of hers that she always wanted by her side. She sighed wanting to have Wishper again. It was a nice dagger that always made her feel safe. Deruk rubbed her eye tired and looked around. She spent a lot of time recently reading about the magic of this land. She learned some tricks that she knew she could do to someone. She smiled alittle naughtily. She thought she had a talent for the magic here. She drew her attention back to the matters at hand. She smelt dinner cooking and watched at Chavi was taking to her guest room. She looked at Duncan “So….what’s going on?” she asked tilting her head looking at him alittle foolishly “Can me and her be friends ?” she asked wondering and getting up to leave. She blinked watching most people leave the room. She examined Duncans face and saw his troubled look. She frowned feeling sad for him. She didn’t care a small number of people were still in the room. She put a hand on his hand “Are you ok?” she asked concerned
