Kino walked out of the grocer's with a bag of apples and a small tub of blackberries. His fingers were stained with berry juice and he popped a blackberry into his mouth. He looked over across the street to see three (four?) figures standing. Students like me? He thought. His ears twitched and his tail swished in anxiety.

Ippy saw someone over the street and waved, spotting his ears, she grinned. "Hey!" She called over, hoping to get his attention.

Kino looked at Ippy and smiled shyly. He walked across the street and stopped a few feet away from the group. He ate another blackberry nervously.

Ignoring Simon, Ippy ran over to meet Kino. "Hey!" She called, grinning. "I uhh... Like your ears! They are so fluffy!" She said, petting her own cat ears, almost as if she was fantasizing about how she would go about petting his ears.

Kino blushed and looked at his shoes. "Thanks..." He said quietly. "Your ears look.... Velvety soft," he replied. His eyes brightened. "Hey, would you like an apple?" He asked, pulling out his bag. "I have a Gala, a Red delicious, a golden delicious, a Granny Smith, a honey crisp, a ginger gold, and a pacific rose."

Sinon sighed, "Does she often run away like that?" When he turned to look at Lole he saw that because of Ippy running off she no longer had anything to keep her upright and was about to fall to the ground. Simon quickly rushed to Lole and catched her. "Good lord, that was almost too close"


(My assumption here is that she was sitting up and leaning on Ippy's shoulder, sleeping)

"Thanks, I haven't eaten in a while... Granny smith, please!" Ippy grinned at his offer, her tail gently twitching. Lole woke up to the sudden change in support. "W-wha?" She looked at Simon, still terrified.

Simon saw the fear in her eyes. "Don't worry, your sister is right over there" He pointed towards Ippy. "You were about to slam into the ground as she ran away but I catched you" He smiled at the girl, hoping that she wouldn't panic.

Ryu was walking around town, minding his own business when he started to hear 4 people talking. Ryu decided to check it so he headed their way.

Lole ran over to Ippy , tackling her from behind in a hug. Lole completely ignored the strange boy her sister was talking to. Ippy got pushed forwards a little bit from Lole's surprise hug, barely avoiding falling over onto her new friend "Lole, are you alright?" Despite her being the one that was 'attacked' she was concerned for her sister. "The man with the stick is scary!" Lole cried out, causing Ippy to give another annoyed glance at Simon.

Simon sighed and stood up. "Fine then, next time I'll let you fall into the ground" He turned around and started to walk away.

Ippy sighed, "That's exactly why my sister doesn't like you... She hates contact with people she doesn't know. Just mark it down as childhood trauma, okay?" Then she turned to Lole, "Why don't you go talk to him for a bit... If you don't, then you won't get over it for a month!" Letting out a small giggle as she nudged Lole towards Simon. Lole hesitantly stumbled forward and stood next to him, not saying a word.

Kino blushed hard when Ippy nearly ran into him. "Uhhh... You.... You ok?" He asked shyly.

"Yeah, sorry... My sister does that pretty often." Ippy replied, not noticing how much she was blushing in return.

"It's ok," he said, pulling out his Granny Smith apple and handing it to her. "Here." He looked at Lole and held out his apple bag. "Would you like one?"

Lole flinched and shuffled further from Kino, closer to Simon. "Don't mind her, it would take a while for her to trust you enough, even to just talk to you, let alone accept food." Ippy said, taking an apple herself to hand to Lole. Lole took the apple and sniffed it a few times before smiling and taking a bite. "See? I'm sure if you get to know her, she will trust you soon enough." Ippy said with a grin.

Simon crouched down to the same height as Lole and smiled at her, "Well then, Lole, could you tell me, what's so scary about me?"

Lole flinched as Simon talked to her. Instead of speaking back, she just pointed at his bamboo sword.

"Aaah, my sword huh? that's understandable, weapons sure are scary, however" Simon took his sword off his back and placed it down next to him "I do not plan to hurt you, I'm sorry if I seemed intimidating at first but I promise that I won't hurt you or your sister over there" He nodded towards Ippy.

Ryu rounded the corner. He saw several people having a conversation. Ryu decided to be friendly so he ran over. "Hey! My name is Ryu! Nice to meet you!" He said, holding out his hand reluctantly, waiting for a handshake.

Kino smiled at Ryu's friendliness. "Hi!" He shook his hand.

Ryu sighed. "I haven't been around much, my dad wants me to take summer lessons. And in summer lessons he means he gets to beat me to death..." Ryu frowned.

Simon sighed "Great, another newcomer, Lole, I can see that you get uncomfortable around strangers, so could you try and focus on me for now and then go talk to one at a time?"
