Fantasy Unnatural Academy

The next few days I had just done as I usually had. I couldn't practice with my scythe and bow, there weren't any facilities that were set up for such things. There was an archery club that met up a few days a week, but it was after school, when I would be helping Mr. Nakashima. I had heard about some areas near the outskirts of town where people would train. So, instead, I just kept studying alchemy, and I had gotten a key from Mr. Nakashima to his classroom, so then I could use his equipment whenever I pleased.

I finally had finished one of the few alchemy books I had left and headed into the cafeteria, grabbing some toast, scrambled eggs, and an orange and sitting at a table by myself.

Todd entered the cafeteria, snagging some eggs and cereal before sitting down next to Joe. A young woman handed him a flier, smiling, and saying something about her religious experience. Todd, politely, thanked her and glanced over it, crumpling the paper as soon as she was gone.

"Damn cults. Had enough of them in my life."

"Yeah... I mean, religion is fine, but when you start participating in sects that are actively opposing one another, that is when I draw the line. It stops being about faith and it becomes more about 'My religion is true', and then things become violent. As of right now, we're sitting on a powder keg just waiting to go off. I don't want anything to do with these groups in all honesty, because I know that it's going to end terribly for them." I bit into my toast. "So," I swallowed. "How did you sleep last night?" I tilted my head.

"Fine, once I muted the sound around me," Todd said, yawning and stretching. "Gets kind of load with the whips and chains and such. I'm used to it most of the time, but, eh..."

"Yo" Mikkish said as he walked up to Joe and Todd "Can you believe that shit? Guy got away. But Johnny law sucks in all situations I guess."

Mikkish sat down at their table "Sick of being stuck here. Who wants to, I don't know, go to the city and hit on bitches? Or the beach? All kinds of cool shit going on that we're missing out on being here."

"Um... what about whips and chains?" I blinked a few times and looked at Todd before Mikkish sat down. "Why does there always have to be an interruption before I can get a straight answer...?" I sighed softly. "Hi Mikkish... the law doesn't always fail. Yeah, there are bad officers, and this force seems highly paranoid of mages, but surely not everyone in their ranks are completely close minded bigots. He got away, yes... but that might've been just because of one man not believing us, not because the rest of the force was incompetent." I looked away. "You shouldn't really call women that... it's disrespectful..." I rubbed the back of my head. "And it's not safe to go out on the streets, not with all of those criminals on the loose. I know it's a bit boring that we have to stick around here, but we have to stay away until everything's under control, you know?"

"Trip to the city sounds fun," Todd said, poking at his eggs with a fork. "Being stuck here would suck. We could hit the mall or go to a movie or something like that. Or, hell, the beach. Let's go swimming."

"God damn, dude. You know the news is blowing shit way out of proportion. Its not like a fuckin apocalypse out there." Mikkish said to Joe "I like the wolfman's idea."

The image of pretty ladies in bikinis, all laid out on the beach side by side conveniently for his own viewing pleasure came to Mikkish' mind.

"Hiding in this little shithole is for pussies anyway. Worse we will have is someone trying to sell us meth. Come on, guys."

I sighed softly, I had been paranoid about going out on the streets. I mean there was a massive breakout, not just one or two prisoners. "Alright... also... uh... why did you call him 'Wolfman'...?" I tilted my head confused. "Uh... nevermind." I got up after finishing my food. "Meet you guys out front, just have to go grab my things." I got up, put away my tray, then went upstairs and grabbed my scythe and bow, then went down and waited out in front of the school for the other two.

Walking on the way to the beach, everything seemed so...dystopian. Mercs were patrolling all over, and sirens were constantly in the distance. There were even a few pulled over mage, pulled over by the mercs, on their way to the beach. One was even being beaten by stun rods. Either this mage had no magic to escape with, or the stun rods were disturbing his magic abilities. Perhaps that is why they all had stun rods at the campus.

But despite all of this, the beach was full of people on this sunny day. The ocean sparkled and the sky was clear. It was strange, how craptastic things seemed right behind them when such a beautiful scene lay before them. Mikkish laid down his towel, and set down his things, but them immediately left them and went to hit on a couple blonde girls.

Osto finally decided to try to take Jessie to the beach. "Let's just get the bus," he told her, and began rummaging around, looking for change. Then he realized something else. "Actually, it's getting late, we should get back to the campus." Osto then grabbed Jessie's hand, and lead her back to the academy. "We'll go tomorrow," he told her.

As soon as we reached the sand, I began pulling my clothing off. I was wearing some black swim trunks under my pants. I slammed my scythe down into the sand and hung my clothes off of the handle and set my bow and quiver against it. I looked around and tilted my head. "Um... so... what should we do?" I looked over at Todd.

Jessy glanced up at the sky then back down to Osto she pulled away, not really enjoying him dragging her around she stepped back " Ooor...we could go right now so no one will see us or know we're gone " she smirked and began walking towards the way to the beach

Osto raised an eyebrow, then smiled, and followed after Jessie. An idea occurred to him. "What if we slept out under the stars?" He asked her.

Jessy blinked " you got a blanket? " she asked knowing they had nothing but bathing suits she glandd back to him and then looked away

Osto chuckled. Jessie had a point. "No," he began, "but I can make one." He smiled in a knowing manner. Then he spotted the beach. "I think we're here he told Jessie," and had almost began to strip when he realized he was in Jessie's presence. "I should find somewhere to change," he told her, and quietly walked off behind some bushes.

Jessy blushed a bit and went off to a small group of trees stripping down she changed into her bathing suit and came back out holding the bag with her clothes up near her chest, she was glad this fit

Osto came out from behind the bushes, wearing the blue trunks. He looked at Jessie, and smiled. "Shall we go in the water?" he asked her. There was no one else around, and Osto liked it that way. Without waiting, he ran off, and walked into the sea. He dived underneath the waves, and resurfaced, just far enough from the shore so that he was up to his neck in the water, but close enough so that he was standing. He gestured for Jessie to follow him with a smile.

Todd's attire for the day was, in direct contrast to his surroundings, dark. He had a black cap on his head, and his trunks were black as well. He glanced at Joe, and shrugged, glancing at his surroundings.

"Mikkish is busy trying to get laid," he stated. "So, I guess we either chill, hit up someone for conversation, go flirt as well, go swim, or go eat. Or we could go to the boardwalk. They seem to have some things going on..."

"O-Oh... um..." I blushed and looked to the side. "Uh... Todd... Idon'tlikegirls!" I said quickly, looking down, I was afraid that he would be a bit... well... like most of the other people from my town. "Um... so... if... you flirt... I don't think I should be involved, you know? Um... I've never flirted anyway, so I'd probably just get in the way anyway." I rubbed the back of my head.

Todd, however, had vanished during Joe's hesitation, completely missing the confession, and was busy chatting with a hunky, male redhead in a lifeguard jacket, who seemed very interested in what Todd was saying. After a couple of minutes of not so shameless flirting, the lifeguard was scribbling something on a scrap of paper and handing it to Todd, who grinned, and said something that made the lifeguard blush, before returning to Joe.

"Did you say something?" Todd asked.
