Realistic or Modern Unity of the Gifted

Never bother anyone again? Panic was sparked within her as she mentally ran through the implications of that phrase. Confirming her suspicions, images began to flash through her mind without her consent-people screaming, falling, blood, weapons flying, Daichiro covered in blood....

She tried her best to stop the visions, but she couldn't. She couldn't get it out of her head- Daichiro standing there, his clothes drenched and stained as red as his eyes. Her breathing sped up, and her heart began to race. Never in her life had she seen something so brutal. Gritting her teeth, she clutched at the edges of her desk so hard that her knuckles turned white. Damn it. What the hell have I walked into?

Even as he daydreamed, Daichiro could sense her apprehension.

Relax, miss Elena. Whatever situation you believe you have walked into is nothing more than a figment of your own imagination. What happened between myself and those thugs should have remained between us. You shouldn't have had to suffer for it. Since you did, I took matters into my own hands since I knew the law would not. This world is better off without people like them, if you can even call them "people." Just relax and go about your business as usual. You need not stress yourself over something I did to people who you should not have to pay any mind to in the first place.

Hopefully she would calm down, but seeing as how she could somehow sense what he had done, he supposed it couldn't be helped that she was panicking. So long as she kept to herself and stopped worrying about it, she would not have to suffer any further tragedies on her own end. At least, he hoped not.

As much as Daichiro's words set her on edge, she knew that he had a point. Elena looked up from the work which she had (not) been doing, and took a moment to close her eyes and farm her nerves. Then, she turned in her seat, and locked her eyes with his for the second time that week.

You may be right, Daichiro. I don't care about the punch-I'm used it that kind of thing-but I've seen some of the things they've done. It was all I cold think about last night. She managed a small smile. In fact...in a weird sorta way, I respect you. But aren't you worried about what will happen to you? What if it gets traced back to you?

Daichiro shook his head.

It won't get traced back to me. 95% of the damage I did was via telekinesis. What will they conclude? That I used my hands to rip them apart? Physically, I never touched them so there are no fingerprints at the scene for them to trace. The weapon and two or three cuts I did cause can be easily explained as simple self defense. Given the number of people there, what else could it have been? Me choosing to attack a force that large by choice? All I have to do is say I was running away from the hooligans and found myself trapped in the warehouse and defended myself. Once I cut the first two the others ran away and I left the scene afterwards. The law will have no choice but to believe me based on the evidence. Whatever happened to their bodies afterwards is going to be up for debate and speculation, but they can't blame an average high school student for ripping bodies apart like that when there's no evidence to support the claim.

(Hey I'm sorry for not replying sooner)

Elena wasn't sure how to respond. On one hand, she was relieved-Daichiro wasn't going to be apprehended, at least. But the unsettling feeling in her stomach didn't go away.

That girl....Alexandria....how is she? asked Elena.

Daichiro let out a soft and almost imperceptible breath.

She's stable. I was helping her relieve the stress her power was placing on her yesterday. She should be fine. She just needs a bit more time to rest.

Alexandria

They called his cousin to come get me. She arrived five minutes later as they were helping me into a wheelchair. I looked at her. "I don't know where my mom is-she's always been here..."

Saeko walked in and met Alexandria, coming forward and giving the girl a gentle embrace.

"I'm sorry to hear that, dear. I am not your mother, and I guess you must be missing her right now. But as far as I have been told they attempted to contact your mother but have not received a response. I'm sorry." She said gently as she stroked the girl's hair.

Meanwhile, back in school, Daichiro was reviewing the events of the killings in his mind. The way those men worked didn't strike him as ordinary, even for a bunch of low life's. No, there was something more going on beneath it all. Something bigger and more sinister than just random abduction and attempted rape. Much more.

But he couldn't put his finger on it. Just what made it seem different? Was it the organization before he began killing? Was it the fact that they continued to pursue Daichiro and others like him even after he hospitalized them? He couldn't figure it out. Someone must have been giving them orders to do this, as common thugs were too cowardly to continue to pursue an opponent they knew they couldn't defeat, let alone one which hurt them as badly as he had the first time. But who would do this?

Alexandria

"She's never not responded! Something is obviously wrong...!" I was obviously getting worked up, and I couldn't focus on not letting my heart beat start going too fast.

Saeko didn't really know what to do. All she could do was keep a hand on Alexandria's shoulder.

"Please, try to relax dear. I'm sure your mother is fine. Just be patient. It won't do to get too worked up about this."

She thought for a moment about something, then looked back down at the girl.

"Do you want me to contact Daichiro?" She asked.

Alexandria

I looked at her, still upset. "I don't know..." I said. "I want my mother, she has to be in trouble or something! She's never been late before!" I thought about it and looked down. She had, though. She randomly felt overwhelmed and ran, leaving me alone. I prayed that this wasn't another one of those times.

Saeko brought out her phone and texted Daichiro.

Daichiro, miss Alexandria is feeling lost and frightened about her mother not coming to see her. What do I do? She asked in the text.

A minute passed, and finally her phone vibrated to let her know she had received a response.

There's nothing we can do about that. We have no way of contacting her mother or figuring out where she might be. Miss Alexandria will have to make due without her for now.

Saeko sighed, putting her phone away. It was typical Daichiro to see the colder, logical side to all of this. But did he always have to be so blunt? She shook her head slightly and put her hands on miss Alexandria's shoulders again.

"Sorry hun, but Daichiro says there's nothing he can do. He has no way of contacting your mother or finding her-"

Her phone buzzed.

Wait, I may have a way...

Back at school, Daichiro put his phone away, got up and walked over to miss Elena, and asked her mentally to step outside with him for a moment. The teacher noticed, obviously, but because of his fear of Daichiro he didn't say anything. He let them leave quietly, and once they were outside he turned to miss Elena.

"I need a favor, and I know I have nothing to make you feel obligated to oblige but please hear me out. Miss Alexandria's mother is not going to see her, and I have a feeling I know why but I have no way to confirm it. You, on the other hand, seem to have a way. Will you come with me to see miss Alexandria? I believe we can figure out what's going on and help to put her mind at ease about her mother... Or figure out what's going on and be as gentle as possible revealing a sad or frightening truth. Either way, I haven't he power to accomplish this so I need your help."

Back at the hospital, Saeko gave miss Alexandria a reassuring hug.

"I guess I was wrong. Daichiro says he may have a way to find out what happened. He'll need some time though, so will you come home with me for now and rest? I promise he'll get to the bottom of this."

Alexandria

"He...he can't do anything...?" I asked, scared. "Anything at all? She needs me...please, you have to help me do something..." I begged.

Saeko gripped her shoulders a little harder.

"Shh, I said he believes he can sweet heart. Please, just give him some time. Daichiro says he might be able to do something, but I need you to relax. Come home with me for a while, and let him figure this out. I know he will."

Saeko leaned down, gently scooping the girl's head in her arms and pressing it to her chest.

"I know, I know. You're scared for your mother and worried that Daichiro could fail. I know. But it'll be okay. I promise. He'll figure this out somehow. Now let's go home and rest." She whispered.

Elena stared up at him. You're asking me...for help? Elena had never considered her powers to be anything but a hindrance-she'd used them as a simple commodity, but while they made her life easier, she couldn't stand having them. And here she was, being asked to use them for good? I guess that could work. But what about her privacy? I have very little control over what I can see. I might see more than I'm supposed to. But I can give it a try...
