Personality:
Prince Kiyoshi Masamori is extremely passionate and self-confident. Underneath this, however, is a man that loves his people and wants nothing but to lead them back to their homes. He has the will of a warrior, unwavering in his goals. His mentality has stood undefeated for a hundred years. While the way of the samurai is strict, Kiyoshi tends to be lean towards a more lenient lord. He is not only capable of willing to converse and debate regardless of the topic. Kiyoshi has always been known to prefer people who will question his judgement. Being self-aware, despite all of this, is one of the prince’s most important traits.
Laws are strictly adhered to, even by this rightful heir. He is capable of rallying his troops to victory with his words. Those within his personal cabinet have a hard time seeing him as anything other as a young adult; oftentimes, Kiyoshi could be found lingering about and catching some extra sleep when he has nothing to do. He has a strong taste for liquor and typically remains in jest despite hard times. On the battlefield he is cold and calculated, in stark contrast. It is believed by many in his cabinet that Kiyoshi disassociates from himself when it battle; the only acceptable explanation to his drastic change in personality while shedding blood.
Weapons/Armor: 1 Katana, 1 Wakazashi, full-dress armor
One hundred and ten years ago, a boy named Kiyoshi was born to a waitress. For the first seven years of his life he was fatherless; believing that his mother was his only caretaker and not questioning it. They did not have any money. Kiyoshi had considerably less than his peers, often being made fun of for wearing clothes multiple days in a row. The first seven years saw his mother desperate for money to the point where he had gotten a job as a busboy at the restaurant his mother worked at. For hours on end, he would run around the shop, cleaning after people. There were often repeat customers that came back. After a while, Kiyoshi would perform various feats - either juggling or dancing, noticing that it provided him with extra money in tips after his meal. His charismatic presence was something delightful for those who visited the establishment and it was something that paid off. For Kiyoshi, seeing his mother content was enough.
Emperor Masamori had visited that restaurant on Kiyoshi’s ninth birthday. Upon meeting the man, despite his entourage, Kiyoshi had no idea who he was. So, he treated the man like any of the other customers. During that hour and a half he noticed the man had stood up and taken his mother out of the shop for an extended period of time. Enough for Kiyoshi to worry. Eventually, they walked back inside of the shop with his mother looking relatively distressed. However, she was alive. Kiyoshi continued working, not noticing that anything was wrong. All he knew was that if he continued to entertain people, he would get more money. Maybe that man had noticed.
That same night, the Emperor visited Kiyoshi and his mother at home alongside a few guards. He sat Kiyoshi down and explained to him who he was. Then he made sure the child knew that he was his son. Masamori told the boy that he had half-siblings; many of which were older than himself. They were conceived by various means, but a majority of them were birthed in-home with his current wife. Kiyoshi was then told he would more than likely never see the throne in his lifetime, but that he would do his best to make sure Kiyoshi and his mother had a comfortable existence. This was when the child learned of his father’s benevolent nature. A year later saw the prince and his mother moved to the capital before he began his trials to train as a Samurai. It was around this time that the Emperor introduced him to the same master he had, in order to train the boy in the magic that came with his lineage; electricity manipulation.
Ten years down the road his training had been deemed successful. It was the first time in his life that his father noticed his efforts; and told him to keep going. His anointing was one of Kiyoshi’s finest and proudest moments in life, despite it being a fleeting moment for his father. However, with this achievement, the boy’s motivations began to manifest. He thirsted for approval. To be useful to his people and as a result, became a soldier in the country’s most prestigious corps. During this time the prince garnered the nickname ‘Jinsoku’, in reference to his tendency to kill his victims within a few slashes. Decade after decade, Kiyoshi fought for his country. He shed more blood than his own father had seen in his own lifetime but he never had been recognized for his efforts by his father again.
The Earth Kingdom’s counterattack shattered their forces. Ninety percent of the army was annihilated. When the Emperor was murdered, his wife was taken as well. His children were slaughtered. As a result of the house being torn down from within their walls, many of the people belonging to the kingdom fled to Oceanius. Soldiers still left standing in the army became deserters. This prompted Kiyoshi and his soldiers to grab what was left of their families and flee, hoping to keep their lives but without a home to return to. It had not been until weeks later that Kiyoshi learned of his father’s death alongside the apparent murders of his sons and daughters that were left in line for the throne.
