What's a mythological creature that you feel is underrepresented in popular culture? No mythologies are banned, let's go! for me it has to be the Kelpie <img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig13.deviantart.net/368e/f/2011/049/a/e/kelpie_page_1_by_porceliandoll-d39svue.jpg&key=98bdc7be020a650befae0b6e4cdfe6091f8767649835e5216a9500c4a0ee7573" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_1_by_porceliandoll-d39svue.j" /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig10.deviantart.net/f78e/f/2011/051/3/b/kelpie_page_2_by_porceliandoll-d3a0wk6.jpg&key=9d3d22807a6ac06e1a1095349f2ac4540a6bf13f3a26a2a830d6344ea7d94f2a" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_2_by_porceliandoll-d3a0wk6.j" /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig04.deviantart.net/342d/f/2011/062/e/4/kelpie_page_3_by_porceliandoll-d3auy1c.jpg&key=0fbbb7e49d9f890516ff160b69f85681511092b00e11c6c98c76466f4a382e2e" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_3_by_porceliandoll-d3auy1c.j" /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig00.deviantart.net/1ee2/f/2011/072/7/f/kelpie_page_4_by_porceliandoll-d3bj77n.jpg&key=06c1050ed236e8ed5759e704b8a7750c30f8480c4822ea4f047feccfe0b9d62f" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_4_by_porceliandoll-d3bj77n.j" /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig00.deviantart.net/4384/f/2011/076/4/1/kelpie_page_5_by_porceliandoll-d3bvcro.jpg&key=4fce9332c15b45390bd00b12ab63275abad21eb8278e161921c064e20e2601e2" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_5_by_porceliandoll-d3bvcro.j" /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig01.deviantart.net/5828/f/2011/079/8/7/kelpie_page_6_by_porceliandoll-d3c1rbn.jpg&key=536937742562ecbb1e7870c54369e2bffae3f693103da86cec0bd7802b95dbe2" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_6_by_porceliandoll-d3c1rbn.j" /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig13.deviantart.net/fa81/f/2011/081/0/3/kelpie_page_7_by_porceliandoll-d3c9ndl.jpg&key=b654a9759b6e09a735978a1bdddb948e96c594bb94ec404b46c37f46db82e9d2" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_7_by_porceliandoll-d3c9ndl.j" /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig10.deviantart.net/f4a9/f/2011/083/b/3/kelpie_page_8_by_porceliandoll-d3cc6vp.jpg&key=f25dbc5afd4dda4b52c81b2f9e055680b4824bf3ca15775f37ee78d0bee480f0" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_8_by_porceliandoll-d3cc6vp.j" /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig03.deviantart.net/6d7d/f/2011/083/d/6/kelpie_page_9_by_porceliandoll-d3ce9gc.jpg&key=0d0f7883426e890f7e8a4c20638d5d49534cddcb7d5bdbfc0cd901b432b170d0" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_9_by_porceliandoll-d3ce9gc.j" /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig12.deviantart.net/12b6/f/2011/085/c/5/kelpie_page_10_by_porceliandoll-d3ch8he.jpg&key=0a48a004179cee677fa6023e24a7e74910829b414b18811965d882e6d90d7b2c" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_10_by_porceliandoll-d3ch8he." /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig09.deviantart.net/ed53/f/2011/085/9/3/kelpie_page_11_by_porceliandoll-d3chl5w.jpg&key=5a40cf075986db98a451db6cb4fd833c372e50b5713c9a708d42b80858fccbfd" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_11_by_porceliandoll-d3chl5w." /><img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://orig12.deviantart.net/433f/f/2011/086/2/b/kelpie_page_12_by_porceliandoll-d3ckb3v.jpg&key=3aee78830002e9073a42e70b7f84662cfe4323b542deea32ec9fa8352b646ab9" class="ipsImage" alt="kelpie_page_12_by_porceliandoll-d3ckb3v." /> art courtosey <a href="http://porceliandoll.deviantart.com/gallery/25937237/Kelpie" rel="external nofollow">Porcelian Doll</a>

I'd say most of scottish lore, but yeah, Kelpie needs more fans and books and stuff. Imagine a spooky film about kelpies

Sometimes sy-fy vomits out good stuff and sometimes not. Heck, it might be best for a scottish film studio to make a film bout the kelpies.

I've actually read more books with kelpies in them than you'd think.

But, to be fair, one of them did take place in Scotland, sooooooooooooooo

Hmm, I'd say I'd like to see more of the lesser-known creatures of Greek mythology (I'm THAT nerd), like the empousai, the Scythian dracanae, and stuff like that.

Minotaur, Schminotaur. Give me the creepy snake ladies! xD

The Yōkai other than Kitsune, Tengu, and Ningyo. Also yes, snake ladies like Nure-onna and greek myth creatures! I rarely saw anyone playing or using harpies, empousai, and minotaur. Also, I wish to see more sphinx xD

:o

Do you actually like PJO or are you just using it as an example?

(If you're not, it's nice to know someone else besides me likes the Percy Jackson series xD )

Centaurs. The only Centaurs I have seen are Harry Potter series and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe/Prince Caspian/Voyage of the Dawn Treader from The Chronicles of Narnia.

Selkies. Dryads. Ancient Egyptian and Norse Mythology as a whole. Thunderbirds and Ziz. The only Phoenix I have seen in movies/literature is in HP series. Nymphs.

Ichthyocentaurs or The Ophiotaurus
To recap on what I said, The Ophiotaurus would be brilliant for a movie idea because it's said that it has the power to destroy the gods themselves. (Just a cool fact for you all :P )

Anything from African mythology. With the exception of Egyptian mythology, it really seems to be missing from popular culture. I can't even name anything from African mythology except for Anansi.

Folklore and myths from Asia (that aren't Japan/China/Korea). Yes these three have interesting stories, but I'd like for other countries for a chance at the spotlight.

Take for example,
Dalakitnon. They're a fairy race that lives in the Balete Tree (colloquially referred to as Dalakit, hence the race's name). They build airships out of the wood of the Balete tree. They use fireflies as a stepladder between the branches and their ship. If that isn't adventure fantasy material, then I don't know what is. B(

Lols, when I read the title, the first thing I thought about were kelpies.

I think some other underrepresented creatures would be Selkies, Manticores,

certain yokai like the one made completely out of hair or the woman with the mouth

on her head. Hmm, and I would also like to see more Chimaera and Sphinx's. Oh and Cthuluhu (for a friend)
