Multiple Settings Ultimate story Omniverse- The Human Forge: Fanning the Flame

Characters
Here
John gestures to the red glow in his chest that can be seen from the outside while he's in level 3. "The Human Forge." He says, a hint of pride in his voice. "And there's no need for thanks. I'm just doing what I was taught."

“Well you sure saved our hides. This same group successfully robbed banks in three other cities before this one.” The chief says “thanks again.” He goes to help fetch the criminals.

As John leaves the scene and goes back to his apartment, the thought of these robberies being somehow connected to his vendetta crept back into his mind. When he got home, he was greeted by the dispatcher's chatter on the police radio again. "We've got a shoplifter at the 711 on the corner of Breeze and Straight." He says. "The manager said this is the fifth time this week, and wants the police this time." John thought to himself. Shoplifting at the same location five times. You'd have to either be ignorant or desperate, or maybe both. He decided that, since he needed groceries anyways, he would check it out. He, once again, leaves his apartment.

The chief was already working on the report. No doubt the press would be going wild about this ‘Human Forge’ by morning.

When John got to the 711 in question, an officer was escorting a little girl with messy brown hair and purple eyes away from the store. John proceeds past them and goes inside. It seemed as though the police have it handled.

(( RoseAstasia RoseAstasia this would be where you come in and describe her actions.))

By the time John has gotten to the 711, the police seem to have everything under control; they have the suspect by the wrist with a half eaten chocolate bar in hand. The perpetrator? A little girl. She looks to the human forge with what looks like a cry for help. Her eyes are currently purple with a glint of yellow.

“Who do you think that guy was?”, says one of the two officers. The one grabbing the girls wrist.

“No clue, but I think he might be a hero considering his getup.”

The little girls hand turns into a jelly like substance and slips through the officers grip, “h-hey!”

The little girl starts running towards the alleyway.

“Hey uh...”, the other officer starts running after her before the one with jelly on his hand waves to stop them and shows him the substance, “maybe we should ask the hero for help.”

“Good plan”, the other officer says. He enters the store, “hey you! You a hero?”

John was at the register, grabbing his paid for and bagged groceries. "Yes, I am. What's the problem?" He notices that the girl is gone. "Point me in the right direction. I'll see to her." He says, then thinks for a moment. He grabs a two ham subs from the heated box, two bags of chips, five bottles of water, and a pair of chocolate donuts. He pays for the items, and then turns back to the officers. "Now, which way did she go?" He asks. They take him out of the store and point down a nearby alley. He walks down it. Towards the end, he can make out various small, colorful drawing scribbled onto the walls. They were cute, in a way. It wasn't long after that when he found the girl, viciously tearing into a chocolate bar. He bends down, and plasters a warm smile on his rather harsh looking face. "I've got something better for you here." He says, taking out one of the subs, a bottle of water, and a bag of chips and setting it down beside her. He sits down in front of her. "I'll eat with you." he says before taking out the same copies of his own food.

The moment she sees John, the girls eyes turn to a mixture of green and yellow before turning red and yellow. She goes into a defensive stance. Its obvious she doesnt trust him, “who are you?” She quickly looks down to the chips, and back to the man. Her eyes briefly turn green then back to red and yellow. She snatches up the bag carefully watching him, “why are you here? Nobody ever comes here...”

He opens the wrapping of the sandwich and takes a bite. He was tired. He went way too far at the bank. His muscles ached and he longed for sleep, but that could wait. This child was more important right now. It was his duty to help the people of the city. "The men from the store said you ran down this way." He said, taking another bite before opening a bottle of water and drinking some. "Don't worry though, I'm here to help you."

“No one can help”, she says, her eyes turning red and blue, “im just a monster”. She’s holding her hand, it seems to be partially missing and the inside looks like a pinkish jello. She opens her chips with her mouth and uninjured hand. When she eats a few chips, her hand seems to regain a tiny bit of mass.

This interested John. He had never seen anything like her before. "You're no monster." He said, his smile fading. "I know what monsters look like. You're way too cute to be one!" He chuckles, trying to cheer her up.

She puts her injured hand behind her back and backs against the wall behind her before sitting down her eyes turn a spark of green before turning completely yellow. She continues eating her chips not knowing what to say to that and looks back to her hand, “I am a monster. Thats what mama said.”, her eyes shift to blue again.

A few seconds pass and she is obviously eyeing the wrapped up sandwich.

The concept of a mother was something John didn't understand. He never knew either of his birth parents. He found himself wondering what he was doing here. Certainly, this child has seen things beyond her years. He stood up, grabbing his bottle of water, sandwich, and chips. He dropped a bag in front of her containing the donuts and the other four bottles of water. "One day you will understand how wrong your mother was." He didn't know what to say. "The bag has some water and some donuts - I think you'll like those - but I think I will leave you be." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small circular gadget with a blue and yellow button on it. "If you need anything, press this button and I'll know." He gave it to her. It was one of Captain Strong's. When the button was pressed, it would relay a signal to a pager that strong kept on him at all times. John had taken it soon after Strong's death, because the police used it when they needed extra support, and in cases that were outside their reach. There were plenty more where that came from, and the police seemed to stop using theirs, so he saw nothing wrong with giving it to the girl. "Oh, and stay safe." He said, before taking his leave.

As John left, the little girl started eating the sandwich. She still didn’t exactly trust the man, but she was desperate. She accepts the button and it absorbs into her hand. By the time she finished the sandwich, her hand had fully grown back to it’s natural shape. Her eyes turn blue as she watches him go. She reaches out to him, seeming to want to say something, but she says nothing and her eyes turn grey. She continues eating and looks around the alleyway. She grabs one of the extra mustard packets and uses it to draw something on the wall. A rough shape of a man.

John returns to his apartment, exhausted. He moves through the living room and to his bedroom. He removes his suit and puts his night clothes on before sinking into his bed, grateful to be done with the day, and hopeful that nothing will interrupt his sleep. His eyes close and he drifts off to dreamland.

It was midnight, and Akuma stood on the roof of an old warehouse.

It had seen the news. Everyone had. There was a new hero around calling himself the 'Human Forge', apparently the second of Strong- Who was very much dead by now, Akuma had been there to witness the old hero become a corpse. It was surprising news, then, that they had missed his sidekick. Oni would certainly be displeased, but Akuma saw this as the chance it was. Maybe this Forge could stand up to Oni better than Strong had.

Akuma just had to make sure that the hero lived long enough to confront him. It had already send several demons to search for the hero, disguised as crows and rats.

Akuma's men were transporting boxes from the warehouse to black vans- things necessary for Akuma's following plans. Normally, Akuma would let it's demons protect the operation, but today was different. A certain swordmaster had been disrupting it's operations for a while now, sabotaging and destroying whatever she got her hands on. These boxes held the weapons Akuma's men would use in their next hit, and they were important.

That's why it had come personally to oversee the whole thing. If that pest dared show her face, it would show her just who she was messing with.

Kirishima had been tracking Akuma for weeks, every warehouse robbery she disrupted told her just a little bit more about what Akuma was doing and where it would hit next, her guess was correct. Taking out its’ demons was easy. The Kirishima style her father taught her allowed Suzanne to swing her sword twice as fast as the average swordsman, that was two demons for every swing. She ran through the gang of demons like a ghost, barely seen. They were all dead within minutes and she arrived on the roof to meet her prize. “Akuma! You killed my parents, my brother, my sister, you will die, slowly and painfully. I’ll make you wish for the death your demons received before I kill you!”

Parents? Brother? Sister...?

"Ah, I see." Akuma said, turning around to stare at the nuisance. It's demons lay dead at her feet, melting into the shadows they came from. It examined her coldly, it's eyes hidden by the unnatural darkness over it's face. "The Kurushimas." It spat out. "You are a fool. What makes you think you'll succeed where your father failed?" The shadows around Akuma came alive, spawning two identical copies of it.

"It doesn't matters. Your family died because they knew more than they should. You'll join them soon."

The three of them fell to the ceiling's ground, bisected in two and melting swiftly. Then, from behind her, a spike made of darkness shot out of the shadowed ground aiming straight at her head as the real Akuma stepped out of the warehouse and rose to the roof on top of a pillar of shadows, grinning behind it's hood.

*Tri was just flying through the city when he spotted a broken warehouse. Intrigued, he started to fly over their, and spotted akuma*

She wasn’t fooled, that’s how this monster killed her father. She dodged and chopped the spike, she sees Akuma and jumps up after him, aiming a sword swipe at his neck.

Akuma snarled. Surrounded and attacked from two sides, as soon as the spike was sliced and it felt the heat of the fire behind itself, Akuma dived inside the pillar of shadows and leapt away from the warehouse from the pillar's base, leaving the fireballs to hit the swordswoman. "I should have known you wouldn't come alone." It said as it covered the street in black, inky smoke and hid in it, shattering the streetlights and plunging it all in darkness.
