Half decent.
The universe we live in is tiny, sparsely populated, and about as nurturing as a seasick crocodile. Or the Grinch. Sopmehow, in the cold expanse of space in the outskirts of what most know to be existence, some elemnts reacted, some stuff exploded, some lightning struck some mud, and then we were here. Or so the story goes. None of that really matters, though.
Because none of it is real.
Throughout existence, the knowledge that all of life isn't real is commonplace. Any ten year old would look at you like an idiot of you didn't know this. But to be able to understand this - to truly intuit the knowledge that this is fiction - that's rarer. Approximately three dozen people have managed to understand this, and with it, came new strides in knowledge and understanding.
And the revelation that, knowing this is fiction to that extent, lets you adjust the author's words.
These three dozen people were among the most powerful people in existence, through their time. Though gradually, succumbing to madness, ennui, or being sealed up, none of them remain in a form that can effect change. Each one understood it in a different way. One decided he was the protagonist. One thought he was the antagonist. Their stories ended simultaneously, and I'll let you guess why. One decided to create witih the power, and she created a vast empire, inherited to people with much less skill or compassion than she had. One did nothing with their power, and ended their own life, due to death's inability to take them. The last, most well known of these individuals, realized that, if that was the case, then no one else was real. This individual, who shall remain undescribed lest some unforseen backup plan release them, killed l;arge swathes of existence. Half the population. Our own, tiny little universe was left completely unaffected precisely because of how unimportant and unknown it is.
Today, you have awakened to the realization. All of you., The force of power of not one, but several beings awakening at the same time has rocked the very foundation of existence. Politicians get together to discuss what to do, diplomats prepare gifts of worlds in case that should be something one would want, and already a few foolhardy groups are coming to try to kill you. What will you do, when the personification of death sees you as an equal - one that could be a superior? When entire nations, consisting of what amounts to a billion earths, fear your wrath? When all you know is that nothing is real?
Whatever you do, remember. There are those more powerful than you. Those weaker than you can still harm you. And never, ever trust another Awakened.
Welcome! So, to those that think that having reasonable weaknesses are boring, how about you hop aboard the OP train? Mop the floor with Zeus, bully Fate into doing what you ask, know that there are only a few hundred beings across infinity that are as powerful as you, and precious fewer that are greater. And you, dear reader, can outshine them all.
I'm just looking to see if anyone wants in. A great, great deal of freedom is provided. From going around mastering types of magic to involving yourself in inter-universal politics. Or, just sit around with your fellow Awakened and talk about how terrible the author of this mess must be. Heavily inspired by in regards to the powers and origins of the main characters.
