The tale of Vampire Knight has changed.

What if Yuuki Kuran had converted into a pureblood earlier than expected?

Now fate has been thrown into the wind.

What will happen?

The thick snow fell on her face. The tears stung as they became frosted over against her cheeks. A sweet taste was on her lips as she opened her blood red eyes for the very first time as the lost Kuran princess. Yuuki stared up into the eyes of the Pureblood, who she now recognized in an entirely new light. All of her senses were heightened. She could hear even the tiniest of butterflies beat its wings. Her grip on the fabric of Kaname's long sleeved trench coat tightened to the point of her knuckles turning pale. Yuuki realized this quickly and released him. Placing a hand on her neck, she noticed that the fang marks weren't present anymore. "Wh-What happened?" Yuuki sat up on his lap. Zero had seen this whole thing. His eyes were red. "What have you done, Kaname?! I knew I smelled another Pureblood here!" He reached into his pocket and pulled out the Bloody Rose. Yuuki gasped. "Zero! Don't! H-He's my...he's my brother!"

Finally, Kaname could taste the blood of his sweet sister. He had yearned for it for so long and now that his sister's blood danced on his tongue, it felt long worth the wait. He had tried to seek alternatives when his desire grew like a fire, but nothing could ever replace her. He knew not to take too much and lifted his fangs from her neck. Filling his mouth with his own blood, Kaname lowered his head and kissed Yuuki gently and released the blood from his lips, allowing it to trickle down her throat.

Kaname pulled away, to see the face of Yuuki Kuran, his sister. Of course, initially it was of shock. He supported her back while she sat on his lap.

However, he knew Zero would come. Kaname knew that any explanation from him would be received only with hostility. It was alright because he knew Yuuki would defend him, after regaining her memories. This would have been a more happier reunion... if he truly was her brother.

Zero was in shock, for the most part. What accompanied was anger and resentment toward them. "Shut up! I don't want to hear anymore!" He wanted to pull the trigger, but couldn't bring himself to do it. "Kaname, what's she talking about?! What did you do to Yuuki?! There is no blood drinking on campus! You know that!" All of this yelling from the silver haired male was giving Yuuki a headache. She passed out, falling into Kaname from lack of energy. Her body was trying to readjust to being out of balance for ten years. Mother....Father...I-I should have known! I should have been there! Yuuki dreamed of them, of her childhood. So much blood. All she could see was red. NO! MOMMY! STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! KANAME! HELP ME! "ANSWER ME!" Zero barked at Kaname.

Kaname's eyes were downcast for the most part. Yes, he was happy that he could be with his sister again, his lover, but... he wished that Yuuki could have stayed in her happy litttle sandbox for a little longer. Easily, he caught Yuuki in his arms and lifted her up bridal-style. He never looked up to gaze at Zero. "I would be even more happier if I was truly her older brother." Confused, Zero yelled in anger, "What do you mean?" Kaname sighed as he expected Zero would bombard him with questions. "Even for a lowly vampire like you should sense that Yuuki is, with no doubt, a pureblood daughter of the Kuran family. ...But then again... you are also something that hunts us. What shall you do?" With that and Zero's silence, Kaname left, bringing an unconscious Yuuki to the Moon Dorm where Hanabusa and Akatsuki stood guard.

"So... Yuuki was a pureblood vampire all along." Akatsuki stated without emotion. Hanabusa's reaction was different. His eyes widened.

"She's your... sister? Then..." Akatsuki went over to put a hand on Hanabusa's shoulder.

"Hanabusa, no daughters were birthed to the Kuran family." Kaname quickly corrected him.

"No. Yuuki is the true daughter to Haruka and Juri. And she is the child born to be my wife."

Hearing voices, familiar voices, Yuuki stirred, her fiance's voice a heaven sent sound. "Ha-ruka..." It seemed as if the world stopped just by the sound of her voice. She shut her eyes tighter, picturing that face. "Ju-ri..." she grabbed Kaname's coat again. "I have to... talk to...Yori." Yuuki opened her eyes. "Kaname, I have to talk to her. She thinks I'm coming back to the Sun Dorm." Senri came out of his room. "Oh, it's you. How many times are we going to let a human in here? It's not getting any easier to avoid th-...." he took a good whiff of Yuuki. "I see." Takuma's eyes softened at the sight of his friend. "Don't worry about it, Senri." He then returned his attention to the Purebloods. "Is she going to sleep in your room, Lord Kaname?" Yuuki blushed visibly, hiding her face again.

By the names Yuuki was murmuring, she must have been thinking of her parents as she pulled on his clothes once more. When they entered the Moon Dorm, she had opened her eyes. Yori. Kaname knew her as his sister's human friend. "Of course, Yuuki." He helped her down and stand up. His noble friends came to question his bringing Yuuki to the Moon Dorm. "Wherever she pleases." He wouldn't force it upon her. "Akatsuki. Hanabusa. Please look after her. I must speak to Headmaster Cross." Kain and Aido bowed and said yes. Kaname then turned to Yuuki and smiled kindly before leaving to speak with Kaien Cross.

Still standing there in her pajamas felt awkward to the princess, made worse when Kaname left. "Alright, are we ready to go?" She wasn't used to having anyone bow to her, so just watching this made her heart do an acrobatic routine. She waved to everyone but the two that were told to come with her. It was strange even now! A few weeks ago, Yuuki was a human on the Disciplinary Committee and now, just under a half hour ago, she received her first five years of memory all at once. Yuuki could remember waiting on her couch, peeking out her window for Kaname to come back to the Kuran mansion. Haruka and Juri would be smiling at her the whole time. She could remember Kaname promising her a special rose encased in resin. Realizing that she was still being watched, Yuuki left the building. Kaien Cross knew that he couldn't keep Yuuki forever, but that didn't make it hurt any less. He was rifling through his drawer for his only picture of his kids together, well, the only one he kept in his office. A wide smile creased the principal's face. His glasses fell from his face as he swept his hair backward, remembering the last time he'd seen Yuuki's true parents. "They were so brave, yet, so scared." His head was in his hands.

After knocking on the Headmaster's door thrice, he was let in. "Have I come at a bad time?" Upon seeing Kaname, Kaien jumped up and tried to straighten himself up.

"Ah, no, no." He straightened his glasses and put both of his hands on the desk in front of him. "So... Yuuki is... a Kuran again." Kaname had a sorrowful expression. "What's wrong? Aren't you happy--" Kaien sniffled. "--that Yuuki is a Kuran again? Your sister?" Kaname smiled sadly.

"It is a very happy reunion indeed, but... I was just unprepared." Kaien raised his eyebrows.

"Unprepared?"

"It was far too early for Yuuki to awaken. I wish she could have stayed human for a little while longer. Yuuki... would have been happier that way."

Kaien got up and threw a female Moon Dorm uniform to Kaname, which he caught. "There's no going back now. Make the right decision."

Kaname stared at the Moon Dorm uniform in his hands for a moment, then left without a word.

Yuuki made it to her old hallway in record time, another advantage of her newest capabilities.

"Yu-Lady Yuuki!" Hanabusa corrected himself, glad that the majority of his fans, hopefully all, if Zero was capable of his duties on his own, were in bed. "Aido, I'll be fine." Yuuki told him.

"He's talking about you needing to be careful when you go inside alone." Akatsuki calmly came forward, eyes on the new princess.

"Yes, I'll be fine." Without any more dialogue between them, Yuuki walked into her old room.

"Yuuki, you're back." Her friend, Yori, sat up, rubbing her eyes. Her curly hair in her face. Yuuki smiled. "Not for long. I got transferred to the Night Class."

"You what? How's that going to work? You still have to be on the Disciplinary Committee, right?"

"I don't know. I spend so much time with them that I guess it wouldn't make a difference." Yuuki packed her bag in silence for the rest of her final minutes in this room.

"I'll see you later." Yuuki dipped her head and left the room, returning to her new building with her guards. It was strange to call Kaname her future husband, as well as her ancestor and brother.

These words swam through her head as quickly as a seal trying to escape a killer whale. Before she knew it, Yuuki was in a private room, right next door to Kaname's.

Yuuki dropped her bag off inside, and left. She knocked on her fiance's door, then peeked inside as the door swung open. "He's not back yet."

Kaname glared at the uniform as he walked. While making his way to the Moon Dorm, Ruka walked in front of him, blocking his path. Kaname gave no expression, even a slightly puzzled one. Ruka most likely had many questions about Yuuki, but like a noble vampire, she never would ask too much. "Ruka." Her face was a mix of expressions. Confusion, betrayal, sorrow, but most prominent was submissive, because Ruka knew her place. It wouldn't be with a pureblood.

"Lord Kaname... I--"

"Why do you look so apologetic?"

"I've discovered what has happened from the scent of the blood and the surroundings. Forgive me, my lord. I have been a fool. Only concerned about no one's feelings, but mine. Until I was finally faced with the truth..." Ruka bowed. "I shall do what you ask, my lord."

"Very well. Then I shall say something that is very unfair." Ruka held back her tears as she saw herself as undeserving to release them. "I trust you."

Her expression perked up and she was beaming. Ruka respectfully bowed to Kaname again before saying, "Thank you very much."

Now that that confrontation was over, Kaname continued on to the Moon Dorm. As he walked down the halls to his room, Kain and Hanabusa bowed in respect. "Lord Kaname."

"Lord Kaname."

"How is Yuuki?"

"Just now, awaiting you, sir." Kaname nodded and went on as his friends watched him from the back.

He found his sister and bride peeking into his room. Seeing her made his mood better, so he held up her new Moon Dorm uniform with a generous smile. "Yuuki."

Yuuki had been listening to Kaname and Ruka for a short time. She always knew Ruka loved Kaname, and a part of her felt guilt for what she had become. When her name had been uttered, Yuuki turned on her heel. "Kaname, I didn't touch anything!" She held up her hands, then lowered her gaze to what her brother held in his hands.

"I know he's upset about this." Yuuki murmured. "I didn't mean to upset him, Kaname. I didn't know." She saw the boys behind him and felt really uncomfortable as she took Kaname's hand. "He's not mad at me, is he?" The princess laid her head under his chin.

Her eyes and hands felt the uniform that she would be forced to wear. I'm not different from him anymore. He's not out of my reach. "What about Ruka? Is she mad?" Yuuki moved back. "I can't believe how many people are upset or angry because of me. My father, Ruka, Zero, and there are others that are mad because of me, but not necessarily at me."

Yuuki brought her hands to her throat and winced. She had never been so thirsty, and now, it would only get worse. Her eyes glowed, illuminating the darkness with her scarlet orbs.

Kaname chuckled when Yuuki jumped with only an utter of her name. Moments like this always brought him memories of past times. How he wished he could have legitimately born to Haruka and Juri Kuran. Kissing her forehead for a moment, Kaname gave a calm reply. "It's alright. I believe you." His smile had never left his face. It felt great to be with Yuuki again and not have to hide anything anymore.

Kaname would always support her, so when Yuuki became distraught, Kaname tried to calm her fears and embraced her. She would most likely find it embarrassing, but the business of the purebloods were never the business of the nobles. Fortunately, Yuuki's immense thirst for blood distracted her. "Shh... Yuuki, you have nothing to fear. Let's go inside and you can tell me everything."

Yuuki bit the inside of her cheek, drawing blood. "Why doesn't your thirst affect you as badly as mine does me?" She took the uniform from him and set it aside. Yuuki couldn't take it anymore! She grabbed her husband and pressed him against his wall. Her tongue scanned his neck for a vein, then she stopped. "I'm sorry. I can't hold it back." She bit him, savoring his peaceful, proud, strong blood. Yuuki pulled away before she could get lost in the taste. "I haven't been like that at all until you came back." Now that she was herself again, Yuuki smiled with satisfaction. "There's just one thing I don't understand. Mother put me to sleep after wiping my memory, so, how did I end up in that...in that snow?" It was still a touchy subject. "I went to sleep, seeing Mother bleeding, then I woke up outside in the snow, my fangs gone and a coat on."

Once Yuuki was in the room, Kaname shut the open door to his bedroom, leaving Kain and Hanabusa in the hall. He stroked her cheek as her thirst for blood peaked. When she asked him why his thirst did not affect him as badly as her, he said, softly, "Because I've had many years to practice. You are new to the process, but it's okay, Yuuki. I willingly volunteer." Not one look of surprise appeared on his calm visage when Yuuki forced him to the wall and bit into one of his veins. She needn't say that she was sorry. He embraced her again and attempted to comfort her as blood ran from his neck to hers. "Yuuki, you needn't apologize to me. You don't have to apologize to me for anything. This is only natural."

He was glad Yuuki smiled again even after returning to being a pureblood. She asked him how she ended up in the snow and said that it befuddled her. "It was a snowy day. Haruka died in battle with his own sibling and Juri spilled her blood to hide your vampiric side. Of course, I wouldn't let you freeze and I watched over you as you glanced at the snow. I wanted you to know more than red and I wanted to show you more as white is the presence of all colors."

Yuuki remembered feeling her energy get drained from her as she lost her fangs, that had only just come in any way. "They were killed by someone that they believed they could trust. I have no doubt that he's coming after me next." Again, a vision of red and blue was embedded into the princess' memory. "I remember the last time I saw him. He isn't the most affectionate relative, is he?" Yuuki smiled, despite the situation. She felt a pull, the desire to return to where her memories began. "I know where you went when you left me with the headmaster. You went back to our home a few times, then I bet you stayed with Takuma." Holding Kaname like this felt as if Yuuki were back home again. She was, of course, but this just confirmed it. "The headmaster told me a lot about Mother and Father, even the night he met them. He told me he saw Father running after a little boy, and heard Mother screaming for him, for you." She closed her eyes. Kaien tried to pull the trigger, but...he couldn't. He saw how scared they were, how scared you were when you ran into him...literally." Her arms tightened around him, binding his arms to his sides. "He told me that he couldn't see the difference between vampires and humans anymore. Everyone gets scared, and Mother was pregnant at the time." Yuuki could have kept going, but was sure Kaname would have preferred to get up off the wall. She backed up. "Kaien couldn't do it." Yuuki remembered that snowy day. "You had this planned all along, didn't you? You put up with my nagging, Kaname, for ten years. I don't understand where you get the patience."

For many years, all he had to worry about was Yuuki. He didn't have to see those cold and distant red and blue orbs that stared maliciously at him. Those eyes belonged to Kuran, Rido, their uncle who had been spurned by their mother. Kaname shook his head. "No. He isn't. But I won't let him hurt you." His eyes showed that he was sincere.

Yuuki began talking about the days of old. When they were a whole family with Haruka and Juri. Kaien was a good man for seeing beyond mere vampire and human. Ultimately, there really is no way to tell, except for a vampire's fangs. But humans had a type of "fangs" too. That snowy day... He planned it all. "Yes. I would put up with anything if it meant staying by your side and making sure you had a happy existence."

"He's not coming here as long as I'm here. I'll kill him myself for what he's done." That was a promise. The sick man had the audacity to kill his siblings for no reason whatsoever! How could someone look into the eyes of someone that he 'loved' and not even bat an eye as he kills them? "He won't hurt you ever again, Kaname." Her hands settled on his cheeks, still cold from the snow. "It's morning." My first morning as a vampire. What do I do? "The transfer! I'll be late!" Even though most of the Night Class was in their building right now, she still had to make sure the Day Class got to their classrooms. "I have to go, Kaname. I'll be fine."

Kaname watched as the morning sun rose from the bright horizon and covered his eyes. He'd gotten very used to it seeing as his sister had been a human for many years and it had been up to him to look after her. It still didn't mean that it hurt no less. Groaning softly, he removed himself from the window in the hall and went back into his room, but not before running into a frantic Yuuki. She had been panicking abou the transfer and told him she had to leave. He gave a soft nod and a gentle smile before watching her leave. He wondered how it felt to embrace something that she had known about so much, such as the sun, and to back away in confusion as if she hadn't known it at all.

Yuuki, of course, received shocked faces and frantic voices coming from the Day Class people. "That's enough. All of you Day Class students need to go. The transfer won't be happening today." The sun was hurting her, but not as much as it probably should have. Yuuki stayed in the shade. "Just get moving." She moved them away from where the vampires should have been last night. "Yuuki Cross?" "Is that Yuuki?" "Did she get hair extensions?" "She got transferred?" These questions gave the princess a headache. Thankfully, she heard Zero gripe at the crowd, causing them to double time it out of there. Yuuki thanked her old friend and sat on the front porch of her new building. She couldn't talk to him now.
