Two if by sea (1.1B) [Making Friends and Influencing People]

This is for people who are going to the area by the Seattle docks to conduct trades. you've probably got some IC chat to figure out transportation and any pre-planning you're interested in.

I'm ready now, unless you have something to discuss. I have a bike, you have a car - I suggest we drive separately just in case.

"Sounds good to me. Besides, if you rode with me, we'd have to come all the way out here to retrieve your bike.".

On the way out of the facility, I beam Sheltim my contact number. I also make sure to record his bike's ID.

"Just give me a second. I'm also going to send a spirit with Robin."

After plugging the address into the auto nav, I settle down to review what we have on our vendor. Time to check out this shopping list and see how much leverage room I have. Anything I can save will make a nice commission..

Things I'm looking for on the shopping list:

* relative value of the goods

* relative availability

* legality

I also make sure to scan the credstick to confirm it is for the amount stated.

Unless you're interested in making a pilot/drive roll you'll probably be getting there at the same time Sheltim. Sheidow, you've got 20k worth of cred sticks there. The goods are perfectly legal but very low availability, it's relatively specialized lab equipment. Assuming just a general retailer search you find most prices in the 20.5k to 25k from resellers.

Once Misaki gets to the destination, she quickly reviews the list to double check if this is equipment that will fit in the car. After she gets out of the car, she finds Sheltim as he's pulling up.

A quick

[1,3,5,4,3,3,6,3] = (2) ... I wish these spoiler tags weren't so big...

to make sure the busy docks doesn't hold anything out of the ordinary, and she walks off to go find their contact.

Awesome roll :) nothing too interesting makes your radar, there's a low force watcher spirit flying overhead but it's quickly out of your view. The trunk of your car should have plenty of room for the packages.

Assuming you guys are ready

The building in front of you is a nondescript warehouse with a small attached office. The tang of the sea air rests in your nose and whatever was painted on the side of the building is almost completely illegible now due to corrosion. However the logo of a bird in flight with the words "Weyland Imports, helping you take flight" superimposed on it appears in your HUD as you approach the office door. Entering the office reveals a small customer service desk piled high with various papers. A small man with wisps of curly gray hair looks up from a large ledger as you enter. His eyes slide over Sheltim and settle on Misaki "Can I help you?"

"We here to pick up some goods. Our associate requested them, but is currently busy with some tests and couldn't pull away."

Misaki studies the old man carefully to judge his reaction. Time to see what we're dealing with.

Apparently my magic fu is stronger than my stare fu.

Maybe dice games aren't your thing? Nothing interesting turns up in your stare down.

The man nods without missing a beat. "Yes he notified me that his purchasing agents would be arriving today. Everything he requested has been acquired, however there is the small matter of cost." his eyes slip over to Sheltim again for a moment before returning to Misaki. "These devices are hardly something you can find at the megamart, it took some doing to get my hands on these. I don't think it would be fair for me to accept less then.." his pursed lips thoughtfully, "25k nuyen?"

The man points towards a pair of boxes atop a table running along the east wall. "Check it out, exactly as requested."

Misaki walks over and starts looking in the first box, taking care as it is lab equipment. As she checks each item off off her mental list, she tries to match them with any images she found on the ride out. Fortunately a few of the items were actually tagged to bring up data on her HUD.

Sheltim also begins inspecting the equipment.

Perception:

6d6.hits(5) → [1,1,6,5,3,5] = (3)

"Looks like everything is in order. Seems you were able to get much of it straight from the source, impressive. However, I'd say there's only 16 grand worth. Add in a nice finder's fee and I'm willing to offer you 17 thousand. Of course if our buyer's happy with how everything works out, I'm sure we'll be back soon for more."

Because it will be needed at some point. Feel free to continue the dialogue as long as you want.

13d6.hits(5) → [5,6,3,4,4,1,3,3,5,5,3,4,5] = (5)

The man arches an eyebrow. "17? Any less then 18 and I should be calling Lonestar right now about the robbery. Deal?"

Well that roll sorts out this trade discussion. Just to refresh my memory, do either of you have spirits here with you now?

"18 is a deal," Misaki agrees she pulls out the cred stick. As she slots it in the reader, she motions for Sheltim to grab one of the boxes and take it to her car. Grabbing the 2nd box she follows Sheltim back to the car.

When out of earshot of other workers, she whispers to him that they should meet up with the deckhead before heading back to the complex to do a good scan on the equipment to make sure everything's clean. After loading stuff in the car, she'll do another astral lookover to make sure everything is in good order.

No, I am not currently controlling any spirits. I believe all of Shelt's are with the other group.

Perception/assecing test on the goods: [3,1,2,2,5,3,6] = (2)

your inspection of the goods turns up nothing unusual. Sheltim give me an auditory perception check plx?

Both of my spirits are with the other group.

Perception 4: 4d6.hits(5) → [6,4,5,2] = (2)

Sheltim you hear the sound of footsteps behind you, turning around you see an orc and a human walking towards you from a nearby alleyway. They are wearing beat up jeans, the human has an old leather jacket on and the orc a black t-shirt with a logo you can't make out. The human flashes a predatory smile at you. "Got a present for us there?" his eyes falling on the box.

Sheltim examined the intruders, unimpressed.

Perception 4+2: 6d6.hits(5) → [6,2,3,3,1,1] = (1)

Keeping an eye on them, he gently set his box down behind him.

"We don't want any trouble."

You see what looks like a knife clipped into the orc's pocket.

The human speaks up. "Trouble? Of course not, we're just here to help you out with that heavy box." He gestures towards the orc next to him "Jimmy, why don't you grab that for him."

The orc begins advancing, Misaki exits the building about now carrying the second box.

Making a good deal always put Misaki in a good mood as she happily grabbed the other box and headed for the door. The mood quickly dipped as she stepped outside and saw Sheltim talking with a couple presumably thugs.

Misaki quickly scans the newcomers while her mind races for the proper way out. I wonder if I can talk my way through this or if I'll have to convince them it's not worth their time.

Perception (see what's going on and how much of the stuff to Shelt did I pick up on, as well as spot the heat) 7d6.hits(5); → [2,6,1,6,4,5,5] = (4)

(more spot the magical heat) 8d6.hits(5) → [2,6,1,6,1,2,5,4] = (3)

knowledge check on Ancients turf to remember if this dock is part of it 6d6.hits(5) → [4,2,4,1,5,3] = (1)

(whose turf is it anyways?) 4d6.hits(5) → [4,4,6,4] = (1)
