Treacherous Waters [Inactive]

Adam Trams strolled through the crowd. He was happy to see that some people seemed to recognize him and step out of his way. The crowd grew slightly quieter. He had come a long way to board this ship. Adam had been settling a few matters with colleagues in the outer reach; the diplomacy of his sword-axe had bloodily finalized quite a few contracts.

There are rumors even in this part of the galaxy. Adam smirked as the thought entered his mind. Although he walked confidently he seemed to sway a little bit. In his left arm he held an expensive bottle of wine, while in his right hand he grasped half a baguette. He took a pull from the bottle of wine and stumbled a bit. It was apparent that this was not his first bottle, perhaps not even the second. There were quite a few people out to get him now so despite his drunkenness Adam was on guard. He swaggered up the gain plank to the ship and passed two other men. He stopped and eyed the two men.

One was a smaller and skinny but had a cunning glean in his eye and the other was a bit taller with a small goatee. He recognized the latter as the captain. "Hello boys," Adam said to them, "You guy loo like you are ready to fly. I am anxious to leave this port as well."

Adam pulled the cork out of the bottle of red and spat it along side the ship. He ripped off a mouthful of bread and washed it down with a swig of the wine. Red juice ran down his chin. When he finished drinking he offered the bottle to the two men and asked them there names.

" Men are so disgusting. . . " Vi sighed and looked at the bizarre, soon to be drunk man before her. She sighed and grabbed the mop and started to clean the main hall. ' O.C.D, lovely thing to have! I get to clean up after children. . ' Vi though and looked around to find where she was.' Must be near the captain's room.' She looked at the door before her. She knocked on it, awkwardly sitting there. She didn't even know if he was in there. She sat for a few seconds, not knowing what to do if he answered.

Chuck turned to face the man beside him, as the tall, clearly buzzed man swaggered into the cockpit. "Well, I would say that's everyone!" He said with a smile. Dorian nodded in reply, and Chuck slammed the intercom button to say his piece. "Alright everyone! I'm closing the bay door now. Keep arms, legs, and feet inside the vehicle at all times. Enjoy the ride!" He mused, chuckling a bit to himself.

He then pressed an assortment of buttons; one closing the door, which was newly repaired. Another that turned on various orange hazard lights throughout the vessel, to signify that they were soon going to lift off. Dorian then, after ignoring the man for a few moments, turned to the new and final passenger. "Anxious to fly, indeed, friend. Feel free to choose a room near the back end, if you would like. Things can get a bit bumpy here in the bridge when we start moving." Dorian tried to keep on a happy face. The last thing he wanted was for the new passenger to discover that there's little alcohol on board besides a few bottles of wine Dorian kept for himself, and the pure alcohol in the medical cabinets. He truly hoped this man had brought some with him beyond his meager bottle.

Kyra walked around this ship trying to get a feel for the layout. she passed by the guns and as she looked at the controls her eyes shined. "hope i get to try these out." Kyra continued on heading for the control room of the ship figuring that is where the most action would be. Listening to her own foot steps on the metal floor she started to zone out thinking of her past.

Kyra is knocked back into reality as she falls on her ass after bumping into a rather drunkin man. She looks up as the people around turn to see what happened out of natural curiosity.

Alice sat down on the bed, taking note of a lump on the left side. It was funny to her that she noticed those things. She'd lived outside for so long that a lumpy bed shouldn't have been of any interest to her. Any bed at all was very welcome, despite her somewhat unfavorable analysis. She set her newest knife down on the bed and pulled up the hem of her dress, revealing a mass of cuts and scars under the blue fabric and lace that often covered her legs. Against her pale skin, the bright, stinging red of her newer injuries seemed terribly out of place. She had had a hard time living alone in her first years; almost all of the damage was a result of the carelessness and poor judgement that she worked so hard to bury.

She ran her fingers over one particularly large scar that ran along her left thigh; the work of bear which she had foolishly challenged in her haze of insanity. She had only been in the forest for two weeks at that point and she was starving. She tried to kill everything she saw, but her senses were dull and her tired limbs were so clumsy that anything small enough to be killed fled with ease. In such a time, a fight with a bear seemed a safe thing, if only she could get some food. She was terribly wrong, of course, and spent a good deal of time limping around the forest. The flesh around her old wound was still warped and held an odd yellowish hue. It was terribly ugly, but she was glad for it in a way. If she hadn't suffered such an injury, she never would have come to her senses just enough to realize that there are more kinds of food than just meat.

In that moment, Chuck began the lift; the engine revved in anticipation as the small vessel began moving forward, toward the runway. The door was now closed and sealed, and Dorian couldn't help but recognize the small, iron-fisted girl's craftsmanship.

As they began moving forward and picking up speed, both he and the pilot noticed that a young Kyra had fallen to the floor beside them. Dorian lent a hand to her, saying "Do you need help up?"

The vehicle continued, moving faster, and faster; approaching the speed required and the gate to finally achieve lift off. And, in a brisk moment, it did. Shooting out through the gate, the plane lifted into the air, almost unnoticeable by the passengers, except for the steady incline upward, toward the higher levels of the atmosphere. But, in only a few minutes, the entire ship broke through the atmosphere, and began shuttling through space.

"Well, that was easy. I thought that a clunker such as this would at least be a bit bumpier on take off." Dorian turned his head to say to the pilot, still paying some attention to the fallen girl. "Nah, this here plane is a beauty. She flies like a dream!" Chuck replied with a laugh.

However, as time progressed, so too did a small passenger ship. Not too close, but not too far. It approached at a steady pace, though it seemed to take a somewhat different course than their ship. But easy it neared, a clear pirate symbol could be seen on the side of it.

Hearing the other passengers outside, Alice perked up. She couldn't tell what was going on, but it seemed rather interesting. Approaching others was an unusual action for her now, but she felt strangely compelled to at least observe these others. She pulled her dress down, so that it covered her scars once more, and stood up. She smoothed down her skirt and bent over to pick up her knife. The heels on her black boots(stolen off the feet of a woman sleeping on a bench) clicked softly as she moved. She could be quiter, but there was no reason for it now.

She kept a loose grip on her knife as she walked slowly down the hall. The white ribbons that tied her twin braids fluttered behind her. She followed the sound of the other passengers, stopping just before she reached them. She wanted to watch, but at a safe distance.

Adam ignored the pilots request for him to find a seat in the back.

"I would rather stay, thanks."

He was enjoying a buzz of wine euphoria and wanted to watch the take off.

As the ship buzzed to life Adam felt a bump in his back. He turned around to see a small black haired girl lying at his feet. He extended his hand to help her up but suddenly lurched again and Adam stumbled. He threw his hands out to catch himself, but to his horror saw the remaining eighth of the wine bottle splash over the young lady on the ground.

"What a waste of fine wine." Adam pouted as he lifted the women to her feet. "Oh well. Sorry by the ways." Adam rummaged threw his bag and revealed a wedge of stinky cheese, some salami, and a flask. He made a crude sandwich out of it all and ripped it in half, offering it to the young girl in the blue and red splotched sweatshirt.

"Have some food in forgiveness."

Adam tuned his attention out the window and noticed the pirate ship.

"Ha!" He grunted. "What an excuse for a pirate ship. I play ones that size is my swimming pool. Lets hope there is more of them so this gets exciting." Adam ripped a bight out of the sandwich, chewed, swallowed, then took a swig of his flask.

"Pilot, can we smoke on this ship?" There was a large cigar behind Adams ear.

Alice could tell immediately that she disliked this new passenger. His immaturity and disregard for others made her blood boil. She hoped they would never need to interact. Anger was a dangerous emotion and in mere minutes he had evoked something she had spent years trying to repress. She would need to return to her room soon, for fear of doing something regrettable.

She gazed intently at her hand; her fingers turning white as they clenched around the handle of her knife. The could feel the wood digging into her flesh and she wondered if the pattern of the carving would be imprinted in her hand when she finally got her muscles to release. The lack of control in her hand was a bad thing, just like the faint tugging she could feel on the corners of her mind. If she looked hard enough, she could almost see her other self calling to her, all bones and wild eyes and matted hair streaked with blood. Alice shuddered involuntarily. It was a grotesque creature that lived inside her.

Chuck turned to the clearly intoxicated passenger, holding both a sandwich and flask of what appeared to be ale in hand. "Aye, you can smoke. Just keep it near the engineering department, next to the engine, alright? Don't want it to smell like smoke around the living quarters." He stated, turning back to the controls of the vessel, and the video of the oncoming ship.

Dorian looked to the video feed at the front of the ship, deciding what it was he needed to do. Or, rather, they needed to do. This clearly was going to be a group effort. Turning to the others behind him, the two girls and the no longer sober male, he calmly stated; "Until we can decide what this vessel's intentions are, we need to make contact with it. When the feed comes in, who is willing to talk to the possibly hostile ship?"

" Honey doll, I know how to make a man go to his knees." A strange voice said, in a southern accent. A girl came around the corner. She had her finger up to her lips, smiling. She laughed a bit. The girl just had to flick a finger and any boy she wanted would do her will. She had a, way of getting their attentions. It started with her voice, and ended with her lips.

Vi bit her lips from anticipation. Maybe she could have some fun on this ship after all.

"Har, har, har." Adam boomed his laughter at the attractive girl who had just dramatically entered. "I know men that would throw you across their knees. Most of them are pirates. There are only two things an aggressive ship like them wants, and that is credits and loot. The only way to deal with them is to attack them first."

He paused and thumped his index finger on the thick glass for effect.

"Send somes one over on a tether and a with a grappling gun and some explosthives while someone else distracts them with phony negotiations. I could do the talkin, might be some o' thems heard of me and they leave. Or send me ofer if ya think my plans to dangerous." Adam

slurred.

Alice frowned as someone was asked to step forward and negotiate. She knew it wouldn't be her. Not only was human interaction a weak point for her, but the wrong people could send her into a dark abyss. She took a deep breath, willing her fingers to release their grip, at least a little. She was gripping the handle so hard that the palm of her hand was beginning to bleed. The small crimson trickle down the blade made her all the more aware of her other self.

Her fingers refused to give up their death grip, despite her best efforts. She couldn't pry her fingers off now, not with others around. She glanced at the padlock and chain she had fastened around her ankle. It was often a source of amusement for others, but Alice found it absolutely necessary. It was most helpful in keeping herself contained during spells of haziness. She felt very sure that she would need it soon

"A grappling hook and set of explosives would be great, except explosives really wouldn't be our safest bet if we are to gain entry into the opposing ship. Such could easily destroy the individual's astral suit. I think we should try taking a diplomatic approach. If that fails, we can mount the guns." Dorian stated, trying to both reassure the others and himself that this plan was going to work.

However, after his last word was voiced, a steady beep starting coming from the controls of the ship. Chuck could be soon moving about, pressing a few controls, clearly trying to make something work. "They're trying to communicate with us! Are we ready for this?"

The silence in the room was tense. To Adam it seemed to last an entire week. "Baaa," he spat. "I don't like negotiating, better to strike first. I'll do it though if no one else wants to post volunteer. A few of ya gals go man those big ol' guns and get ready to fire as soon as things begin to not go our way...and things wont go our way I'm sure. Fire when you hear me say 'Unreasonable'."

Adam went and stood in front of the Hologram recorder and waited for the pirates face to appear over the display table in front of him.
