Tokyo Ghoul

|| The Underdogs ||

Once upon a time in this forgotten hellhole that was called Tokyo, there were less than a handful of ghouls who grouped up together in order to achieve something that hadn’t been achieved yet. Co-existence between the two species. Acceptance in general. Of course there would still be those exceptions who’d rather get rid of the other than having to live together, there’s nothing one could do about that. But the only problem was that the majority of this country was thinking that way, especially in Tokyo where the crime scenes were on an all-time high.

These three people who wanted to become the example of being able to live together in piece met in secret with one of the head agents in the CCG after a lot of fights and discussions. They managed to come to an agreement once they decided to listen to these goals which took more than half a year. They got the support from the CCG, even getting appointed two human members in order to make it look even more appealing and less dangerous to the public. A lot of people were shocked and couldn’t believe their eyes, some even turned their back on the CCG as they felt betrayed. Some came to the realization that it was for the best but some just couldn’t get to see the possibilities of working/living together. They weren’t punished for their opinion as it used to be like this. Even the president wasn’t much of a fan of the idea but allowed it reluctantly.

Now out in the open [well their masks were known amongst the public as only then they could be shown, if it weren’t for that, they’d be hunted by those who opposed the idea of cohabitation] they had to prove that they could indeed live together peacefully with the necessary measurements of the government who would provide them with their food so they wouldn’t need to hunt again. Of course the government was against it so these ghouls had to find their food themselves by looking for corpses who committed suicide or something else that wasn’t caused by them. This group of ghouls and humans were called Lionheart.

The complete opposite of Lionheart were the Ravens who wanted more power in order to take over Japan and live their lives the way they wanted to. They each had their own goal they wanted to achieve and became the public enemy of the CCG. Some of them still wanted for the ghouls in Lionheart to see what humans were really doing to them while others had abandoned hope and saw them as natural enemies.

Whose side are you on? What will you do when certain decisions have to be made? Will you still remain faithful to your original ideals or will you change? Only you know.

Yakushimaru Emao

The world was changing slowly but surely. A new species was found not long ago, some thought it was a mutation that some humans went through and became those that were called ghouls. Others had another opinion about it and it kept going on like that. The only thing that was now in front of them was to make a choice to live with ghouls or stay in war with them. Due to the background of ghouls who killed humans as prey, their only resource for food. It didn’t stand on the good side of society and it was only normal for humans to be against their existence. Most of them did. However as times changed, people’s opinions began to change. Some ghouls wanted to do good and didn’t resort to killing for food, instead going to look for corpses of suicide or just those who died of age in order to survive. Others stayed the same and kept hunting. There wasn’t much of a choice as the government didn’t put any thoughts into it. Just seeing ghouls the same as a dangerous creature, a predator.

However now that a group of both ghouls and humans were made, they had a chance of changing Japan for the better. It was all in their hands with the few resources they had access to. Having some kind of support from the CCG was already an achievement as they finally managed to make them listen. Now this group of five, called Lionheart, had to set out and try to do the right thing. Only their masks were known to the public however for security reasons and their own well-being. They had the chance to prove themselves and become a hero for the people, protecting them whenever they could. That was their goal which would change the view on ghouls if they did a good job.

Unlike the group Lionheart the Ravens were polar opposites. Thinking about gaining enough power so they could rule over Japan, living their lives the way they wanted to without being judged for it. This could’ve been due to trauma in the past or just the way their personality was. Their masks are known as well but in an immediate bad way. Ones that humans should stay away from, flee on sight and call for help if they were being chased. Until this day, the CCG still didn’t come any closer to finding their true identity but perhaps with the help of Lionheart, that might change?

---

November 1st 2017. The weather was not too cold nor too hot. There were occasional rain showers but didn’t last for too long. The sun showing itself from time to time as if it were to check up on what was beneath it. As Emao walked through the puddles, holding her umbrella up so the rain wouldn’t make her completely wet. Her eyes were blank as if she was just a walking doll in dark clothes. She didn’t like to wear too much colour in her clothes as it made her feel out of place. Plus she also matched well with the look so she didn’t have any reason to change her style. Her lavender eyes roamed over the people, watching them as they passed her by. It was a habit of hers which she took up over the years of living alone as a ghoul, merely because she didn’t want to run into one of those psycho CCG.

Looking at her watch to see that she was going to be late to her job if she didn’t go a little faster. Sighing deeply before upping her tempo a little, making a straight beeline to the place she had to be. Once she arrived at the geek store, she received a staple of flyers in a box which she had to hand out to the people. Looking to the papers and back to the boss before giving a nod. Standing in an open spot where a lot of people passed, the box was placed near her feet, taking a few out at a time while shielding herself and the stuff from the rain. Randomly waving to strangers before handing them a flyer. It was an easy paid job and she also got some free stuff which was a nice deal. She just hoped the rain would stop anytime soon as it started to bother her.

As she stood between the train station, an arcade and a fast food restaurant, people were bound to get past her. Also the fact that she was noticeable with a bright coloured box near her feet and an umbrella with ducks drawn on it while wearing all black clothing was quite amusing to see. A lot of people found her lack of expression fascinating, some trying to make her laugh but to no avail. Even receiving a plush toy from a bet as they didn’t manage to get any expression out of her. They thought she had a gift but honestly it was just her face which barely showed any emotion. And their jokes were just lame too so that was perhaps why she didn’t react to any of it.

Yawning deeply as the job got a little boring after a while. Wobbling on her feet to keep herself busy. The box of flyers was almost empty but she still couldn’t leave until it was complete. Rubbing the back of her neck as she stood there. Lifting her head up to see the rain still falling down. Probably the longest shower of the day.

"Just A Snack"
Dampened alleyways screamed with the new footsteps as they sprinted into the darkened quarters, hungered eyes pierced through the darkness and towards the target. Without a moments notice the woman who had been running collapsed to the pavement, blood was already mixing with water as both made their way into a puddle around the corpse. A male ghoul was the culprit, he grinned at his new kill and moved into position to feast on the young girls supple flesh. The echoing sounds of her body being ripped into had taken no time at all, as the ghoul relished in the savory flavor of the body. A light sound could be heard and the ghoul twisted around, his ukaku exposed and ready to take out the nearest target to come by but silence took over the alley. Water dripped from his clothing as his eyes turned back towards his meal.

"Back on my territory you low-life scavenger.. I though we talked about this.. didn't we?" Akuro spoke and stepped across the corpse, she had been renowned as a fearful being to cross. Not only due to her unique skills and hunger, but because the fact she wouldn't hesitate to feast on even a ghoul. Her mask was upon her face and she tilted her head slightly. "M-my queen... I-I apologize for invading your territory I'll take my leave now." he spoke with a frightened tone as the ukaku was moved and the ghoul piloting it sprung to his feet and fired a barrage of rc projectiles. Akuro simply moved and dodged every one of them until she was just beside him, she could hear his heart beating in fear from this distance.

"Scum." The last words the male ghoul had heard before a fist connected with his head and his skull was removed from his body which tumbled to the ground, the blood beginning to flow thick from it as well. Causing all the water around Akuro to turn red with the blood of her tasty morsels, she licked her lips beneath her mask with a ravenous hunger building inside of her. She moved over to the ghouls head and lifted it up by the hair, allowing the head to swing about slightly and rotate so she could get a better look of it, "You really weren't much of a looker either.. oh well" she shrugged and placed the disembodied part back to where it belonged. Moving over to the rest of the ghouls body and ripped an arm from it with a hearty cracking of the bones that echoed down the alley but ended before the street. Taking a bite of the fallen flesh as her other hand held her mask to keep it from getting in the way.

She continued to eat as she walked towards the humans body, "Ugh.. you don't taste that great but you'll do for a snack" She said before tossing the arm that was missing a few bites off to the side and wiped the blood from her mouth on her sleeves. "Now to the main course" she then proceeded to begin devouring the young females body where the other ghoul had left off her eyes shifting in ecstasy of the taste.

'It's a beautiful day!'
That was the first thought that crossed my mind as I stepped from my apartment, the wind whistling and carrying the sweet smells of the honey suckle flowers I planted in a small pot outside my apartment. Birds chirped and people laughed, it really was such a wonderful day! Humming happily, I tapped the toes of my shoes against the welcome mat, which was the cutest little shape of a woodpecker with big cute brown eyes, (just adorable!!) and spun once enjoying the feeling of the breeze running along my skin and the cute little bugs whose chatter filled the air. Giggling I made sure to stick the , hand crafted by me and oh so adorable blue bird printed,
note on the front door for my roommate. Reading over once more just to make sure I didn't leave anything out 'Dear Mr. Angry Owl,
I'm off to work and to another beautiful day~ try not to brood all day about our lack of alone time, I promise I'll make it up to you!
You and me, for dinner tonight! It'll be my treat~
With lots of love ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️
~Rasu

Humming happily and satisfied with my note I hopped down the steps leading from my apartment and headed off to work. A smile kept its way on my face as the sun beamed down on it. Sighing contentedly as I boarded the subway, my hand found its way into my hair as my thoughts flickered to the lack of assignments issued to us lately. It was strange but I was sure it would pick up soon!
I wondered what was going on with the CCG lately...I tried to keep my ears open for it but I haven't heard and relevant or useful news besides the occasional 'LionHeart did this or that' but nothing that pertained to us...
' i wonder how the others are doing in their wards'
Suddenly the bus lurched to a stop, jerking me out of my musings.
Shaking my head, teal hair flying slightly, a let out a happy hum.
'I wonder what I'll make tonight...maybe I could grill the meat this time... no no best to sautée it and serve it with my special sauce!' I thought, grinning I could feel my mouth watering at the delicious thoughts of dinner tonight! Laughing joyously I picked up my pace and danced into my law firm.
" I'm here~ "
I beamed at the amused looks I received. Dancing delicately around the cubicles I greeted everyone by name before heading to my office where my assistant, Mai ketsuki greeted me with a nice fat stack of paperwork.
Almost immediately I felt the urge to cry. Mai gave me a stern look at the tears that threatened to poor from my light aqua eyes.
"Now none of that Ms. Ichibi, these need to be reviewed and signed by the end of work today, so no slacking off! " She chided.
I could feel a pout forming on my lips as I gave my best version of puppy dog eyes I had.
"Aww but sooo much Mai~ you gotta help me! " I whined, throwing my arms around her in a tight grip as she attempted to flee. Tough for her, my prey never escapes.
"Miss Ichibi!!" She flushed, I could smell the fresh delectable scent of it as it heated her skin... I nearly moaned out loud. Instead my stomach decided to do it for me with a loud grumble. At once the office became cold.
"Miss Ichibi... have you..."
she whispered, her expression tight. Her hands once trying to escape my hold, now gripped tightly to the sleeves of my blazer.
It was quiet... I swallowed thickly.
"...been skipping meals..?!" She seethed. The cold fury she had going had me quickly retreating to cower behind my desk as her hands slammed against it.
"You know that is not healthy Miss Ichibi! You need three square meals a day! Filled with plenty of fruits, vegetables and protein! I only ever see you eat those god forsaken chips! You need a proper diet!"
She lectured, her eyes glinting and I could just imaging the flames roaringly behind her back and lighting up her deep purple hair. Pouting again I whined
"But Maiiii I don't have time to eat! Especially now that I have all this paperwork..." I muttered the last part glumly and rubbed my stomach in silent mourning. Inwardly I smiled..1....2...3...and-
"That will not do. I expect you to take a proper lunch today as well as have a coffee for breakfast at least." She tutted, taking a good chunk of the files away and proceeding to fuss over me and my disorganized desk.
"Awww Mai your the best~ " I squealed, a happy smile instantly popping onto my face whilst a blush rose on hers.
"And call me Rasu Mai!" I teased, poking her inflamed cheeks. A strangled sound escaped her Lungs as she beat a hastily retreat out of my office calling out a quick
"Goodbye Miss Amaterasu!"
As she fled I grinned, plopping back into my comfy yellow chair. I grinned as I picked up a pen. That was to easy.

Kazuto Masamune

Kazuto took a step out the backdoor of his humble restaurant, took a cigarette from a box, stuck it by his lips and lit it. He chugged in a breath of it watched as a puff of smoke escaped into the atmosphere. In seriousness Kazuto did not really have a humble restaurant as he'd just received a Michelin Star recently, and it was going to be jam packed full of customers tonight looking to try his food. He was respected as a master of the culinary arts, but is a curious case having never been seen tasting his own food. Yet regardless everyone knew that his recipes and technique stood among the best in the world. However his success is just cover to mask his true identity in a post 21st Ward Extermination World. As a ghoul who sought to end the tyranny of the CCG and the current government it was necessary to remain hidden until the time was right. Kazuto raised a canteen full of some unknown liquid and poured it into his mouth before taking another puff of his cigarette.

"Aaannnd DONE"
I cheered, throwing my pen up into the air in joy. It has been a long battle with the all mighty paperwork, it wasn't pretty, but I remain victorious! Jumping up I did a couple of fist pumps in the air grinning. Giggling I hit play on my phone and began dancing to the song

"When I walk in the spot this what I see"
I did a shimmy and rocked my hips, twirling around rocking my fist. Back and forth, I felt exhilaration as I rocked out.
"Every body stop and is staring at me, got passion in my pants and I ain't afraid to show it"
I did dramatic hi thrusts around my office and sang along with it " I'm sexy and I know it~" I bobbed my head to the beat before taking a generous sip of my coffee before slipping out the door, pausing before Mais desk and wiggled wildly, hair flying everywhere and a pink flush of exertion covering me cheeks. Although it was nothing compared to the one adorning Mai's. It was a lovely shade of burgundy red... I ducked as she attempted to stop my wiggles and dodged her grasping hands. I struck a pose against the door, one hand on my hip which was thruster out and the other hand pointed straight up in the finger Gun position. I rolled my shoulders slowly as another song came on
" get your sexy on, "
I shot her a playful smirk and lowered my arm with the finger gun and slowly winked at her.
"Bang~ I'm off to lunch Mai-Mai!" I quickly chose that moment to escape as her face turned purple. Dancing out the door I hummed along to the song, occasionally doing hip swivels and ignoring the strange and amused looks around me. I quickly caught the subway that wold take meto another subway that would take me to another subway whic would take me to the 21st ward. , still humming happily. I loved American music, the had the most interesting lines. Slipping my phone out of my pocket, I quickly dialed in a familiar number and pressed the phone to my ear. "Hello hello Kazuto~ I'm gonna stop by for lunch kaaay? " I chattered cheerfully. Kazuto always had the best lunches and I couldn't wait to get to his ward, I might be a bit late, but I did finish all those files and I could always head home and work. Yes that sounded like an awesome plan! Now I wonder what excuse I'll use this time...

"Yo Ichibi-san, glad to see you come by today. I'll get a private table set so you can enjoy yourself... privately. I'll also prepare you the house special, don't worry its on me," he said before taking another puff of his cigarette, tossing it on the ground once he had finished it off. He took another swig of the fluid in the canteen and made his way back in the restaurant. Though he poked his head out through the one more time and said, "just come around front, a waittress will take you to your table." He then went inside and fixed on his apron, retreating to a private kitchen where he would prepare food specifically for ghouls away from the prying eyes of his sous chefs. Before doing so, he signaled to one of his waitresses who he knew was a ghoul to bring Ichibi to the special guest lounge. A few moments later, now that he had retreated into his culinary lair, Kazuto began preparing a special dish that he had been working on some time. This would be the first time he would be serving it to another ghoul besides himself and a few other friends.

Taking a block of presumably a human leg and butchering it into a nice filet, removing the meat carefully from the bone, and placing it on the grill. Then lightly salting it and covering it with other ingredients to enhance the flavor of human meat for ghouls. Kazuto had to spend years figuring out what other things ghouls can and could not eat, creating an entirely new field of cuisine that he could not reveal to the public. Once the thigh meat was ready, he swiped it off the grill, placed it on a plate, and covered it with a thick blood based sauce, taking inspiration of the Filipino Dish, Diniguan, replacing pork blood with human blood. While all this was happening behind the scenes, the waitress in charge of taking care of Ichibi waited for her to come around and take a seat.

At his glorious words of free food I positively radiated joy.
"Yay! Thanks Kazuto I owe you one!" I cheer back, humming a pleased sound as the bus lurched to a stop and I stepped of. My black pumps clicking against the ground as I hurried to catch my next bus. I frowned once I got settled and remembered what he called me.
" Ne Kazuto!! I told you to calll me Rasu, none of that 'Ichibi-san' stuff. It makes me feel like I'm at work" I pouted. Twirling a strand of teal hair around my fingers and sighing " I'll be there soon, in a bit, possibly Kay? Bye!" I ended the call with grin and shoved my phone back into the recesses of my blazer pocket. Just in time to as the bus lurched to a halt in the 19th ward. Blinking slowly I stopped in the middle of the door trying to comprehend just exactly where I stopped. When I did, I nearly sighed out loud. Unfortunately for me some pushy jerk decided I was taking to long and that it must be his civic duty to shove, yes physically shoved, me out the way. And then I was falling, it happened so suddenly I was suprised, and couldn't react to save myself in a human manner, inwardly crying at the possible stain my pretty beige blazer would get. When my shoulder hit the ground I gritted my teeth and let out a soft pained sound. I summoned tears to my eyes and, yes that's right you better feel bad, wiped them away with my 'good' arm. Almost immediately there were hands fussing over me and that rude dog was being given a verbal reaming by a group of very unhappy looking bystanders. As I was helped to my feet a gave the lovely little darlings that helped me a bright smile, assuring them I was fine , and sighing as my spacey mess caused me to miss my ride... well. I was all ready in the 19th ward, I might as well say hi to a companion whilst I'm here ne~
With that thought I whipped out my phone and dialed a well known yet not frequent called, number.
"Hey there Akurooo, I just wanted to let you know I'm passing through on my way to the 21st ward to Kazutos if you wanna tag along, but you gotta promise not take a bite outta me you hear! " I lectured, paused before adding
"Or anyone else for that matter Kazuto has a reputation to uphold and he can't have you ruining it by being crazy pants and chewing off people's heads Kay?" Most people who overheard my conversation thought I meant figuratively chew people's heads off, but oh no I meant literally.

Akuro Sugiyama
"On the move"
She had just began cleaning the blood from herself which was fairly easy due to the kindly couple who had let her walk in and borrow their restroom. The two human hosts like dead and half devoured in the house, she hummed gently before her phone began to buzz, drying her hands off she moved her mask from her face and left the building. She was walking on the sidewalk with an appearance that would fool any human into thinking she was the same as they were, a phone call was not something common for her so she picked it up and the voice on the other line was a friend, which was always a welcome surprise for her.

"Kazuto's you say... also why would I bite you? Last time I tried to is because I hadn't eaten in a week" She spoke with a small grin on her lips, the sidewalk she was taking had been completely empty which was weird but not too weird considering the portion of her ward that she was in. "I know I know.. Don't eat the customers or coworkers, you guys are so compassionate towards them" She sighed and shook her head, that was something she'd never understand. How someone could be compassionate towards their next meal, whether it be a human and a cow which would later be a steak or a ghoul and a human. She sniffed the area around her and quickly locked onto an aroma that was familiar, "Be there in a couple seconds and we can head over" She said and quickly hung up her phone. Turning back into the alleyway the girl ran through in a rather melodic pattern, turning on a beat and twisting on another almost as if the whole tracking was a game to her.

She could smell the scent strongly now and looked through the end of an alleyway to see a bus driving past, so she slowed herself and walked out casually her hoodie being a little wet from rain water. She looked either way at the end of the pathway and sniffed to find where the scent was strongest from, some of the humans looked at her and figured she just had the sniffles which was a perfectly fine assumption for her to deal with. She walked to the strongest point of the scent which was where a group of humans was leaving and there in the center was the girl she was looking for, "Rasu!" she spoke loudly and approached the girl calmly while making a little bit of a scene all the same. Each morsel that passed by her was but another to hunt down and butcher later, but for now she would leave them be. She stood before Amaterasu now, being a bit shorter due to her two-inch error. Akuro's mask rested beneath her hoodie so it was hidden which made things easier on her, "Guessing that bus stopped at the wrong place and dropped you off here?" She asked with a slightly tilted head and a smirk.

I grinned as the call ended and repocketed my phone, brushing away some gravel from my fall, and straightened my messy hair until it was back into it's usual style. The teal strands shining light blue in the light. I didn't have to wait long it seems, a familiar scent tickled my nose, and glanced around to great her, seeing her make her way through the crowd of people in her hoodie, I gave her a small finger wiggle wave.
"Nah some jerk wad shoved me cause I was thinking about someone~"
I teased easily, a small laugh coming out towards the end. Blinking I remember I somewhere to be and a schedule to keep! I checked my watch and began screaming internally. I was gonna be so late if I didn't get it in gear... I quickly began hustling to the next bus that would take us to the 21st Ward. I speed walked like the devil was mowing the lawn, and my ass was the grass. Gah! I keep burning more calories than I take in! I just want to be a nice curvy plump size is that too much to ask?! I need foood! Food...I felt joy bubble in my chest as imagined the succulent meal I was about to have, sigh, it really has been too long since I last ate... I just haven't had the time to go out and get dinner, I always end up skipping and I know it's bad for my health as well as my sanity. But seriously the amount of paperwork and phone calls I do never seem to ennnd! And then there's the whole Ravens thing and I can't slack off there either! Nodding my head once I sighed. Life was hard... but what's gonna work?! Teamwork! And that's why I had my friends of Raven. Grinning I finally tuned back into the conversation as I began boarding the bus.
"Sorry can you repeat that? I wasn't listening..." I laughed sheepishly, and twisting up and into the bus.

"Contain the Hunger"
Puffing her cheeks out in annoyance Akuro followed Amaterasu before releasing the air from her mouth once more, "I was fussing at you for getting off at the wrong stop. But I suppose it's a blessing in disguise, otherwise you wouldn't get to see me" She said with a smile. Looking about at the passengers she felt the need to hunt them but held it off for the moment since that would cause too much of an issue far too fast. She readjusted herself slightly to ensure she wouldn't be put into a rough situation with all these humans, some were closer to her than was probably safe. Honestly all of the humans in this bus were likely to be in danger if she had been needing to feed but for now she had her vision set on something else, something rarer to her.

She thought about Kazuto's restaurant, it had been awhile since she'd gone by there.. last time was when he was starting out. Of course that had been awhile ago and she'd eaten quite a bit since then she did know that there was a much greater likelihood of his improvement when it came to the culinary arts. She had to just assume that it would be better than last time, but that was guaranteed in her mind since improvement only took a short time. The ravens typically were in close contact with one another, which made it an easier time for them to coordinate and handle their work. Most of the time Akuro had a bit of a bad light shifted on her because of her rather... exceptional mutation.

Cannibal was something that she came to be known as, but she didn't mind it since it would strike fear into people. That fear that the other ghouls represented to her was humorous to an extent, but she could have a stronger impact if she went and got what she did recognized more, that's why she was sitting at the SS~ rank she was sitting at. Few knew of her Kakuja since she could control herself unlike the common belief of her actions, "So how's work been? I know your profession is pretty tasking right?" she asked kinda curious. The development of ghouls hiding in plain sight of work was nothing new but if they were capable of gaining an influence then it would give the Ravens a foot up, of course Akuro just wanted to slaughter all of the humans and weak ghouls in her ward to claim it but raven would need to raise their follower count a bit higher for sure if that were the case.

I tilted my head apologetically, and offered her one of my special chips. Which was really just human skin fried, kinda like pork rinds, but editable for ghouls.
"Yeah sorry I don't visit often, my job is slowly killing my soul, " I rubbed my tired wrists and let out a small sigh. Looking at her I rubbed the top of her and and snatched her into a hug giggling. Hopping to take her mind off all the meat in this bus.
"But it's oki you don't have to worry about me~ I will preserve! Though I do have good news!" I beamed releasing her from my poor average sized bust...I really need to eat more! At that thought my stomach decided to grumble loudly, alerting most to just exactly how hungry I was. Oh jeezub... I felt the tell tell flush crawl up my cheeksas smiled, embarrassed and began tugging on my teal hair.
"heh...it's been awhile since I've last eaten...."
I mumbled, my eyes quickly looking for a topic change, and it came! In the form of the bus halting to a stop in the 21st Ward a couple blocks for Kazutos. I all but ran off that bus, chattering nervously as I did so
"And Kazuto-Kun said it was on him so that just makes it even better cause it's FREE and it means that the dog in 23c will live to see another day unfortunately" I laughed, brightening up as my words slowly calmed my nerves, I didn't feel like getting lectured again today... though I did have really good news! One was that I had found two new ghouls that wanted in, and after screening them I was sure they would do well in the Ravens. Sigh such precocious little hatchlings~ one day they're learning to hint, the next their off eliminating CCG memebers! They grow up so fast... a tear nearly fell from my eyes as I lost myself to happy thoughts. But finally, at last, though the journey was long, we have made it. Beaming I straightened my hair and sauntered up to a familiar waitress and waved .
"Hi! I'm Amaterasu Ichibi, Kazuto is expecting us?"
I said quietly. The waitress bobbed her head and lead the way to the back where there was a private section for us, just as promised! I was so happy at the prospect of food I skipped to my seat, smoothing down my skirt and sighting straight as I eagerly awaited our meal.
"Soooo you wanna hear the good news?!"

Rei sat in his office chair with his eyes glued to the monitor at his front. The hum of office ambiance bled from his door into the otherwise unperturbed environment. There was only a singular noise from within that would break the monotonous nature of his surroundings; the erratic scrolling of a mouse wheel. "CCG pursues Apocalypse; criticisms of their continued allegiance with ghouls," the headline read. His eyebrows furrowed as he read line after line of nothing but libel and conjecture. This was not the first "hit-piece" written about the CCG since the formation of Lionheart and it would certainly not be the last. The image at his monitor faded into a jet-black. He felt his mind would turn to mush if he read any further. Rei paused briefly to lament in the dreary ambiance of his office before bringing a paper to his face. On it, was inscribed the names of each of the ghouls that involved themselves in the Lionheart program. He had already done some research and prepared a gift for each of them. His go-to gift for those he has not yet gained familiarity with was food-- unfortunately in this case that would be very illegal, so he opted for something else.

The CCG agent stood from his chair with an envelope in hand and stepped outward into the branch office. He was surrounded by many familiar faces, not all of them friendly. There were many among their own that scorned him due to the Lionheart program. You would find no other collection of humans who abhorred ghouls as much as your usual CCG agent. He, on the other hand held a lot of familiarity with their kin-- more than his "friends" realized. His secrets would stay secrets, at least he hoped. Rei kept his head downcast as he sauntered to his destination. He hoped to avoid any sort of insult or ridicule as he slipped past his coworkers. He could feel their scornful stares barring into his back. Finally, he stood in-front of a door with the name "Iwaaki Saena" inscribed on the forefront. Rei left his gift in an envelope and slipped it through the door's frame. He took off when he heard it hit the very bottom of her office's floor.

The letter read,
"Hello Iwaaki Saena,
I would like to take this opportunity to know you more closely. We will be working together and I firmly believe that teamwork is paramount to any successful operation. There is a famous chef in the 21st ward who has recently won a Michelin star. A friend of mine managed to snag some discount coupons to the restaurant. If you are interested, give me a call and a time/date.
~Rei Imahu"

Attached to the card was one of the aforementioned coupons. He felt some comfort after the act. The previous article set him in a sour mood.

When he returned to his own office, he found two sets of folders at his desk. Taking a seat, he peeled open each of the manila folders and gazed over their contents. They were casualty reports-- fresh ones. With a new and more attentive expression, he churned through each page of the report to fully digest their contents. The first one involved a young female who met her end in the 19th ward. Little remained of her body, aside from an ample amount of blood. Only a few feet off from the human's body was the corpse of a ghoul. There was a brief skirmish and a large power discrepancy between the two contestants. The final report involved the half devoured corpses of a human couple. The carcasses were first discovered by their own child who just returned from a friend's house. The perpetrator in both cases were believed to be the same individual.

Rei took hold of his suitcase and departed immediately. He needed to investigate the scene himself before anymore agents got to it. He had a lead, but could not share it. If he shared what he knew and how he knew, it would reveal too much about himself. He had to selfishly hold on to a lie, to protect his own image as well as the CCGs. Ideally, he would clean up this situation without a single person knowing. It made him feel bitter. The way he was forced to operate was antithetical to everything he stood for. The investigation scene was barred by hazard tape-- only those with the privileged to enter were allowed past its borders. As a first class investigator he held clearance. It was just as described in the file left at his desk. Two corpses, one human, one ghoul, and both horribly disguised. In his career he came across numerous scenes that were far more gruesome than this But, the way in which the victims had fallen was all too familiar to him. The crude chunks that were taken from their bodies and the way they were barely recognizable. He was certain now. He merely had to see it for himself to know for sure. This was her doing.

"Something Smells Good"
Akuro had been surprised by the hug and struggled a bit, her bust was not much of anything either. The chip was good at least and sated her hunger for the moment now which was pretty nice considering the tempting scents from all these humans who were around them. Upon leaving with Amaterasu from the train and towards the restaurant, "Well he wouldn't put my stuff on the house.. he knows my appetite a bit too well" She snickered at the thought of it. Her eyes moved a bit as she looked around the restaurant as she made note of everything and the humans within it. They entered into the private section and took their seats, she looked at the waitress and couldn't quite tell if she was a ghoul or a human but whatever the case it was nice of her to do this knowing who they were.

She examined her thoughts for a moment and began to go through everything, the kills earlier today had somewhat sloppily been done. But regardless they were enough to sate her hunger in that moment, honestly she wasn't seeking food but she wasn't going to turn it down either since the more she ate now the less energy she had to worry about using up. She did expect to get into a fight today, since every day you had to be prepared for that when being one of the most renowned in all the wards. But most cannibals were or at least the rumors of what they did was spread, regardless the fact that the ravens accepted her as she was had been a blessing in itself.

"Feel free to tell me the good news, to be honest i'm kinda curious now that you've pumped up whatever it is this much, since it's pretty handy to be in on the things you want to give out. Otherwise teamwork would be allot more tasking" She said and leaned into her hand while her elbow rested on the table. She didn't figure that it would be too much of a shock with whatever the thing was, mainly because it was just some news, nothing too urgent right. She knew that new intelligence could help though.. maybe they'd even manage to grow their group a bit more, if they had scared other ghouls or even gained their respect then it would put them one step closer to being done with the Lionheart group.

Kazuto Masamune

"The chef was not expecting another guest, I'll let him know now," she said as she flared her kakugan ever so briefly, letting the two guests know that she was one of them. The waitress then left the room leaving them to talk among themselves once more before heading back to the Kazuto's private kitchen where he had just finished plating the first dish. The man looked up at her, his eyes having also changed to its ghoulish black sclera and red irises due to the distinct aroma of cooked human flesh. The vents in the room were loud and booming as they were working to get rid of the smell that could possibly tip off more keen customers of what was going on in his restaurant. The waitress waved her hands at Kazuto to tell him to cut off the vents briefly, Kazuto then hit a button on the wall and the room suddenly became much quieter.

"What is it," the chef asked.

"It seems your guest has brought another with her," she replied.

"Short blonde hair, fair skin, toned," he asked.

"Yeah."

"I'll prepare another dish you'll just have to tell her to wait. I'll be out there to join them once I'm finished here. Meanwhile just take this to Ichibi-san, I'm sure she's hungry by now. Anyone with a half decent sense of smell could sense at least how good this will taste, human or not."

"Understood, Masamune-san," the waitress confirmed. She grabbed the plate and rushed back through the main kitchen with the dish in hand to the ghoul-only lounge. The chefs and other workers did not bother giving her even a momentary glance as they thought what was seemingly a well done pork chop was just ordinary human food, continuing to diligently work on the rest of the orders for the lunch rush. The waitress then came back with the dish in hand and placed it in front of Amaterasu. "I think you ordered the Chef's Special," she stated with a smile, "Grilled Thigh Meat doused in a Blood Based Sauce. Enjoy."

Amaterasu Ichibi

Just as I opened my mouth to tell her the good news, my lips tingling with excitement, the waitress returns. And before I even see her, I smell it. And nearly lost all good sense as twisted around to watch that juicy SOB come my way. I think I possibly drooled a bit even, but good sweet bejusus did that smell good! As soon as she set it out in front of me, my fork was already poised to attack. But suddenly I hesitated.
'am I worthy?'
the thought crosses my mind as I stare down the delectable dish in front of me. Then my stomach decided to make my choice by growling loudly.
"Screw it,"
I stabbed the fork into the meat and cut a piece of with a knife. Raising the meat up to my mouth I swallow back my saliva and quickly deposit the goodness into my mouth.
Stars dance behind my eyes, which have decided I was in too much bliss to keep them open. A pleased sound leaves my lips unconsciously.
"Kazuto is a god...!" I mumble as I swallow, I swear sunshine and rainbows were beaming from my Estes right now. "I'd say try some, but then I don't know if there'll be enough for me... " I pout, I would love to share with Akuro, sharing is caring after all, but...my poor tummy needs fattening up! She'll just have to wait.
"Anywho my good news! So you'll never guess what happened~ so apparently I have fanboys! Isn't that cute?! " I squealed in between bites, so good~ I'm definitely going to have to leave an offering for the almighty cooking god that is Kazuto. "So they were in a bit of a tough pickle with the CCG , had been trying to stave off their hunger and not show who truly were, they were orphans you see and grew up on the streets as long as they can remember."
I chewed thoughtfully, remembering the two scrawny 13 year old boys hiding in terror from the CCG. They couldn't even tell I was a ghoul, they had been so lonely.,.
"After I helped them escape, they kept appearing in that same ally right as I was coming home, looking so cute and hopeful, I just didn't have the heart to ward them off of my territory. So I offered them a position in the Ravens." I sighed, remembering their tear streaked face as I told them about what we do. They asked if it was like a family and if I would be there. At the word yes the air left my lungs at their hug attack. They were so lonely...
"Anyway I screened them for any connection to the CCG and none turned up! They're off the grid" like me. I beamed Akuro as I finished up my meal, sipping my fingers in the blood sauce for one more taste.

"Mamma Bird?"
Akuro shook her head simply at the scent, it wasn't the authentic stuff she was used to eating. She wouldn't lie it did indeed smell good but she had a preference to eat from the source of a target and get that freshness you couldn't get elsewhere. You could even argue that she had developed the palette for eating fresh flesh. "You need it more than me, heck I'd say he needs to bring you a second serving of it. I prefer a fresh kill" She said and her visible eye was filled with black and the red iris in the center stuck out just from the scent of the flesh. She sniffed and turned her head towards the door and stared at it, "Besides the ones out there are much more tantalizing to my taste buds" She spoke with an edge to her tone, much alike that of a beast sensing it's prey.

Hearing Amaterasu speak she nodded in understanding of the situation, "Being off the radar is never a bad thing. Keeps the target off your back" she said with a sigh and leaned her head back over the top of her chair. She had been living with that target on her back for quite a few years now and it was a common thing for her but those that didn't had a much easier time getting away with things, Akuro stretched her arms out and made a gentle groan from it before it ceased. "So two more initiatives, Orphans to top it off" she said sitting normally in her chair again which caused her hair to sway slightly and reveal her other eye for a brief moment before covering it again with the curtain of hair.

She smirked to her friend, "So can I call you mamma bird now? You got two chicks but.." she paused for a moment and leaned forward on the table. Her eye locked on to Rasu's as the smirk remain prevalent, "Do they know how to fly?" She spoke in a manner that seemed to be judging worth at the same time as an honestly curious and thoughtful one. "To simplify I'm asking if they're going to be capable in combat. Actually do you know what kind of Kagune they have?" She asked seeming to show a general interest in the two new members. But her intentions behind it were uncertain as to whether she was asking for the sake of a hunt or for that of knowledge to keep in mind for the future when they fought together, "I won't eat them since you have taken a liking to them. Just for you" She said with a wink to her friend who sat near her.

Haru Kazumi

It was like a dream. Who knew a time when ghouls and doves working together would come? The news came to her during her shower, the radio playing at high volume. She was just as surprised as everyone else, but she immediately jumped at the opportunity. She once dreamt she could live in peace, a time when the CCG would be the least of her worries. Now, with the formation of Lionheart, she could almost grasp it. Only the power hungry and the stubborn stood in their way.

She ran her fingers through her damp hair, the pitter-pat of the rain on the surface filled her ears. She loved the rain. It gave her awareness of her surrounding: the ranging steps of people she passed, heavy as they hurried, light as they strolled; the cacophony of their chatters; the cars rushing by in on the wet road; she heard it all. She ran her fingers through her damp hair, her eyes fixated on nothing. She made her way through the crowd, gliding through the sea of people as if she wasn't blind. She could tell their positions from the way they walk and shifted, the way their shoes splashed on the puddles on the pavement and the rain pelting their umbrellas and clothes. It felt like she could see again.

She seemed to walk aimlessly along the street, but truthfully, she knew the place by heart. She could hear the old man playing his harmonica for spare change again across the street. She could hear the loud noise and it's patrons made and feel the vibrations its machines made. She flinched when a young girl unexpectedly squealed after winning herself a prize.

"Hah... It'd be nice to play and win myself a stuffed animal." she told herself. She stood in front of the arcade, her hands in her soaked sweater's pockets. Her pale eyes stared blankly inside, watching as she stood under the rain. It was then when her ear perked to something new. The paper waved in the air, the sound of it crunching slightly as someone took it. It was followed suit by the another aper gliding on a surface before waving once again. She knew what it meant. Someone was out giving flyers.

She walked over to the person, her nose quickly picking up the they were a ghoul. It only piqued her interect more. "I'll take that, thank you!" she said, grinning as she gently took a paper the person was giving out. "I can tell that this work often takes longer than it should." she continued, acting as if she was reading the flyer.

Kazuto Masamune

The man emerged from his private kitchen with another plate in hand. His work finished with a delectable treat just right for the other ghoul that had entered the premises. Normally he did not like uninvited guests, but the fact was that Akuro was another partner of his as a Raven, he felt obligated to let her at least enjoy what they had to offer at the restaurant as well. Every step of his through the kitchen commanded the respect of his sous chefs and other workers as he brought his dish over to their table. Each of them looking at him and recognizing him as the de facto ruler of the kitchen. Normally he would give his staff his undivided attention and make sure that their work was up to par, but today he had other plans of course. Kazuto then drifted over to the bar and prepared a few drinks, mainly espresso with different shots of flavoring he had prepared himself to be palatable for ghouls, and brought them over to the ghoul-only lounge.

"Hello, ladies," he stated as he walked in and took a seat by Amaterasu, simultaneously placing his new dish in front of Akuro and placing the drinks in front of each person in the room. The dish was a plate of what was seemingly Nigiri with thinly sliced chunks of red meat on top of what seemed to be blood colored rice with a side of Sashimi of different cuts of presumably human meat. "Go ahead try it, I've been working on these for a while now. It turns out there are a variety of different things we can eat, but have to be paired with human flesh to be tasted. The rice you see here is real rice, just boiled in blood instead of water, letting it soak up the flavor that ghoul taste buds don't immediately reject, so it still tastes like rice the way humans taste it too. And the sauce I used for the steak is a blood based sauce mixed with a variety of spices and sauces..."

He paused for a moment and realized he was going on tangent with his discoveries in the art of cooking for ghouls. "Anyways, what's your guys' business over here. Is there some important news you needed to bring me or what?"

Amaterasu Ichibi

I let out a playful gasp as she teased me about eating them. It felt good to finally talking a little more openly, I hope she felt the same, jeebus knows she should interact more. Grinning, I tucked a stray lock of teal hair behind my ear and placed my fork down. Sitting up more, I wiped my mouth with a napkin and laughed a little.
"Well, they survived so they are pretty sufficient. I wouldn't say they're on our level or anything, they still have room to grow though " I paused narrowing my eyes playfully at her in a glare. "And no you can't call me Mama bird!" I sniffed "but yes they still are my chickies" I fought the twitch in my lip, attempting to remain mock stern. To be honest I was a little worried about the boys , Hiashi and Harano, but after some test it looked like they would be just fine...hopefully.
I was just about to crack when a familiar scent washed over me, instantly lighting me up. Turning I offered him a finger wave as he came to sit beside me. I sighed inwardly at his formality. One day...,one day I will bring that man off his niceties! Quirking a smile at him, i looked at him.
"Well I came to see you of course Kazuto! And Akuro came along, isn't that great~"

"It's bland but.. not bland?"
A small smile came across Akuro's face as the idea had been shot down rather quickly, but she didn't mind it since the whole premise of it was to tease and pick fun at Rasu a little bit. The fact it had worked so well didn't catch her as trivial to be honest, "Well whatever the case we can bring them up to be stronger" She said with her how sternness since weakness among her comrades was something completely unorthodox for her. Or maybe just unusual since most of the ghouls that accompanied her were either strong enough to be considered equal or stronger in other ways, such as their abilities to blend in and such.

Seeing Kazuto walk about the table she gave him a wave of of her hand, which consisted of her index and middle finger giving off a two-finger salute to him. "Greetings!" She spoke simply before looking at the plate which had been brought to her, she blinked a little bit at it first off being confused as to what it even was. But that issue was quickly dismissed as Kazuto explained it to her, "Honestly gourmet secrets are interesting to hear.. I just know I couldn't do them in practice" She spoke with a shrug before returning her view back to the plated food. Regardless of knowing that Kazuto wouldn't poison her, or at least she hoped not, so she continued to be a bit precautions in her own mind regardless. She never had learned to trust fancy foods since they didn't have a simplistically and well defined signification of them being what they were since they were served with other foods that had fancy names like horderves.

She trusted her companions though and picked one of the human Nigiri up with her fingers and popped it in her mouth rice and all. Chewing for a moment she tried to figure out what she had even been tasting. It tasted like flesh and blood for a moment then some weird dull taste filled her mouth, it was like a very weak coffee but weaker. Almost tasteless like water but it still had something to it that was just off the mark, she took this moment to let the slightly confused expression pass from her face. "Humans are odd.. why do they enjoy eating something that holds such an odd flavor?" She asked before taking a piece of the Sashimi like flesh and ate it. She motioned to the plate inviting either of her two companions to eat some of it if they wanted, "I had a big breakfast so if you guys want to try some I won't stop you. Though I do have to admit, your handiwork is something superb Kazuto" She said before taking a moment to relax slightly. She thought about it for a moment and maybe she was the one with the weird taste.. she did like the flavor of her own kind after all so maybe she was the odd-man out.

Yakushimaru Emao

Luckily the rain had stopped by now. Closing her umbrella, shaking off the rain drops so it wouldn’t get on her clothes later on which would’ve been a hassle to go through. Ruffling a hand through her hair so it wouldn’t just lay flat down due to the humidity in the air. Her eyes flickering towards the people who also put down their umbrella’s and took of their raincoats as they didn’t need it anymore at the moment. It was a lot nicer now that the sun came through and gently caressed their faces. Despite her being an evening person, she still like this part of the day as it was less… gloomy and depressing. Don’t get her wrong, she didn’t think the nights were that bad, they just had this mystery hanging around it.

She was almost down to the last papers. Perhaps five more and she was free to do whatever she wanted to do. It was nice to not have a job with a steady contract, preferring the freedom of side-jobs as she could still make a living out of them without having to waste her life behind a desk and look at the annoying faces of her co-workers day in and out. It wouldn’t take long before she would snap then and perhaps tear of someone’s face whenever something bad was said about her. That would of course immediately lead to the CCG barging in and taking her into custody and who knew where they would put her then. The mere thought made her sigh deeply as she absolutely wanted to avoid that part.

Just as she was about to call it a day, one more person took the last flyer from her hands. Emao slowly looked up at the girl and nodded in silence as she didn’t know what to actually say to this girl as she was a complete stranger. At least she hoped that it was. “Mhm… Well, I found the most strategic spot which is here so it doesn’t take as long as it used to anymore.” She responded as she picked up the now empty box. ”It’s about a sale at the geek store. You get 15% off if you buy 3 items.” She informed the girl. And just as she said that, the boss came to check up on her. Giving her an envelope with the correct amount of money in it. Thanking the male with a light bow before turning back to the girl.

Her eyes then went to the arcade. ”Want to go play something?” She asked as she didn’t have anything better to do. ”Though I have to warn you that I might completely destroy you in a 1v1 game.” Her voice was slightly more provoking as she started walking towards the building.

Rin:
It was all over in less than three minutes. The man's shaggy coarse brown head hit the lovely jigsaw carpet with a muted thud in less than 30 seconds of him being there.
1 minute
then the others, A fair haired mother, with a mole centered right smack dab in the middle of her cheek, A small Little boy with square framed glasses and a transformers toy of which not even two minutes ago his mother had scolded him for bringing to the table, and lastly a baby. Not even 1 years old petite little thing with a chubby face stuffed with mashed carrots and it's own fist. They all fell before they could mutter a sound. The only tell that they even comprehend their fathers death was their eyes. And good God their eyes. All a deep chocolatey brown filled with mounting tears of horror. All except for the baby of course, the small baby who continued to stare at it's fallen family in confusion. As if asking "why are you asleep? It's not nap time. Feed me!" It then shifted it's attention to the lone figures in the room clad in all black with a blank mask with slited eyes and a long spikey person with a pretty purple and red glow.
2 minutes
the baby gurgled and reached towards the pretty purple figure wanting to taste, ignorant of the blood ignorant of his lost family, so blissfully Ignorant.
It's head hit the table, with wide curious chocolate eyes still open.
He figure retreated into the man. He left.
3 minutes
The house exploded into flames, the orange and red tendrils rising into ththe air and scorching the ground. Eating the wood and grass, swallowing the bodies inside, and leting loose a laugh of black smoke that choked the air.

"Hmm. With how powerful you warriors claim to be..."

A large hand jabbed to the side of the alley wall, thick fingers digging into the brickwork. It slowly dug deep grooves into the surface as it moved forward, a heavy grinding noise accompanying it. The two doves stood with melee quinques drawn, visibly shaken from their encounter. One sported a deep gash across their forehead, a gift from a savage blow from a swinging forearm, the other had her arm hung loose at her side, obviously broken from a crushing grip. These injuries were light given the adversary they faced, one who seemed to possess insurmountable strength and skill.

"...you have disappointed me greatly. If this is all humanity has to offer..."

The hand came loose from the wall, a few bricks coming with it, and it rose to grasp out at the two quivering investigators whilst obscuring the face of the hand’s owner. Still the massive figure approached, footsteps thudding heavy as they rang out in the deserted alley. Truly, it was a scene of doom straight out of a horror movie, these two humans would die here. He would ensure it.

“...then your race is doomed.”

They raised their quinques fearfully in anticipation, but it was not enough. Without changing his stance, the large mountain of a man seemed to surge forward swiftly with inhuman speed, made even more unbelievable by his gigantic size. The hand ended up over the head of the male investigator to the right. The man paused for a second, dumbfounded as to what was happening and why he couldn’t see anymore. A loud cracking and then squishing sound was heard from him as his head was crushed, disgusting gore and gristle exploding out from the massive hand. The body fell limply to the alley floor.

Turning to the female, he approached once more. In a panicked attack of desperation, she charged him with her halberd in an attempt to run him through with its bladed point. The strike was blocked as the shaft of the weapon was grabbed by thick fingers, holding the weapon easily inches from impaling the body. The woman’s face grew with shock and pure terror at the simple sound of the shaft of her quinque snapping in two, the strength necessary to snap quinque-steel being an immense requirement.

Snap.

The woman’s body fell to the floor, dead. The man, known as Blackguard by the CCG and ‘Marx Hawthorne’ by the other members of the ‘Ravens’, turned on his heel and promptly began making his exit from the area. He did not bother reporting in about their deaths to the other Ravens as this wasn’t merely just usual job. The 12th was secure from the CCG simply due to Marx’s active hunting of their kind. Paradoxically, this merely lead to more investigators being sent to the ward, but that was the plan after all. They would exhaust their member and quinque supply at the CCG soon enough, even more so if they sent their more powerful doves. And if anything else, it was convenient to have your food come to you.

However not these two. They were skinny recruits anyway, or the male was anyway, and they didn’t have much meat on them for consumption. Even Akuro would have questioned whether to bother tucking in. Although Akuro would eat just about anything, and the thought made Marx wrinkle his nose in disgust. He did not inherently dislike the ghoul, but her habits and practices were absolutely revolting. Eating one’s own kind was quite possibly the single most disgraceful thing a ghoul could do, aside from selling out their own race for the CCG. That latter point was partly the reason Marx had joined the Ravens, after all.

It was through all this thought that Marx had finally completed his next task. After having cleaned himself up in Ichibi’s apartment, Marx had departed for the 19th district. It had been a little too long since he had checked up on the goings of their most hunger-crazed ghoul, not out of any concern for her of course, but instead to ensure the CCG were not drawing too many leads from her careless antics. It was Marx’s job to directly deal with the CCG as he was most capable of fighting them head on without injury. Did he resent or regret his role in the Ravens? Not in the slightest. It neatly aligned with his own aspirations anyway, so what was the harm of gaining a few strong allies in the process.

As he walked the streets of 19th, Marx noticed the flashing lights and tape of the police, specifically the CCG. It seemed that Akuro had been busy after all. Approaching the scene, he had two officers politely bar his way, explaining that he was not allowed to go any further as it was a crime scene. The street was part of a fairly secluded neighborhood and there were not many bystanders out and about during this time. Not that he would have cared anyway. His expression was hidden under the white hood he had, but the serious matter-of-fact look he gave them seemed to startle their previously apologetic features. Two hands snaked out like pistons to grab their heads, crushing them immediately. It was his signature execution method, to ensure the CCG knew he was the one hitting back with a menace.

After having thrown the bodies callously to the side behind a police car, Marx continued forth past the tape. Soon, the shadows of the alley began to encompass him, further hiding his features in the dark folds of his hood. It would be essentially impossible to identify his face now, although that was of very little concern to Marx. The man observing the corpses just several feet ahead was about to die anyway, and there would be no witnesses.

The eyes of the single father began to slowly open to the bright colors of the television causing a certain soreness that caused the man to grunt a little bit. His daughter laid sound asleep on top of him her head using the mans chest as a pillow and his arms as blanket. Although it was still early in the day the young girl had kept her father up all night with constant crying and the need for constant attention had worn the man down to heavy exhaustion, but of course in his line of work exhaustion was the least of his worries. When he wasn't taking care of his precious daughter or molding the minds of his young students he found himself patrolling as his alias of "Scorpio" to ensure ghouls were behaving themselves and to detain those who would feast on the innocent. While at first extremely cautious around the humans of the CCG he found himself actually enjoying their company finally seeing them as allies rather then a dangerous enemy. In fact, if it had not been for the birth of his beautiful daughter he probably would have never joined Lionheart. The sheer thought of his daughter being able to grow in a world where humans and ghouls no longer hunted each other like wild animals was enough for him to put aside his differences and become the example for the young ghouls who were still afraid of the CCG. It was a world he was willing to fight for as it was the ideal place he wanted for his daughter. A life without fear and hatred. A life he himself, nor his beloved wife, got to experience.

That is to say he didn't join without a few arrangements being made in the process. Such as constant supervision over his house and a having a CCG member babysit his daughter so that he could perform his duties without worry. Suddenly there came the sound of knocking at his front door which caused the young girls eyes to slowly open only to deliver a long yawn before passing out once more in the arms of her father. Lifting himself from the recliner keeping his daughter in grasp he walked over to the door to answer the knocking from what he presumed to be the babysitter. As he opened the door the noise of rain engulfed his ears as a man who held an umbrella in his hands stood before his sight. The father welcomed the man into his home thanking him for taking time away from his duties to watch over his little girl. His instructed the man on how to properly take care of his daughter explaining that what she wanted was based on how exactly she was crying. He instructed the man on where her meals were though he wasn't sure he could quite handle to smell of corpses, however, as a CCG member he was certain that this was a simple task that could be overcome. Soon he handed off his daughter into the arms of the babysitter placing a gentle kiss on her forehead as she continued to lay fast asleep. Soon it was time for him to take his leave as he had a long day of patrolling ahead of him and being even a second late could result in the death of an innocent human. Quickly walking into his room he pulled out a black suitcase that had a combination lock to where he kept his white mask and scarlet red cloak. Unlocking it he starred at his mask as if it was his very own reflection. He had been very successful in combating rouge ghouls that happened to be in his territory detaining over a dozen lawbreakers so far that feasted on the living, however, the mask itself resembled a symbol of both unity and betrayal.

He placed the mask over his face throwing the red cloak over his body before taking off into the pouring rain. Due to his success the 7th ward was often quiet and peaceful. He was close to his students considering them all to be apart of his family despite them being simple humans who would instantly fear him if they were to discover who he truly was. Due to his fatherly nature it wasn't uncommon for his students to come with them with their personal problems including those that concerned the loss of loved one to a rouge ghoul. The amount of tears he witnessed from each heartbroken student was another reason he had joined the organization. Seeing the students losing their loving parents and siblings often reminded him of when he lost his wife, and often gave him nightmares about losing his daughter. It was a sad world they lived in, but at least now he was making a difference. He searched his ward high and low keeping to the alleyways and to other areas where human occupation was severely low. It had seemed it was going to be another quiet day in his ward, but that isn't to say he hadn't heard all the upcoming stories about ghoul activity in the other wards. While his job was simply maintaining his own territory he was simply too concerned with all the troublesome misguided ghouls that had been killing the innocent. Of course this would mean leaving his own territory and venturing to unknown enemy grounds, but the man was willing to do anything to keep the peace amongst the warmongering species. Soon he found himself venturing deeper into the other wards hoping that both his fellow Lionheart members were doing well and that the CCG was maintaining control against the ravenous enemy. The heavy rain eventually found itself dissipating to reveal the shining sun which hopefully would cause the other ghouls to take a break from hunting down their prey.
