Tokyo Ghoul: Targetted

Mitchs98

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
Arisu walked the dark streets of her ward alone with little light other than the light of her phone and the occasional flickering street-lamp. She had opted to take the late closing shift at her Cafe as well as clean up a bit, which turned out to take a lot longer than she anticipated. Other than the occasional car she was the only one on the streets. Sighing she looked at her phone and yawned at the time which read 1 AM. Sighing once more she pocketed her phone, wanting little more than to head home and get some sleep at this point. Thankfully it was only a few more blocks away so that wish would soon be granted.

@Llenamys

The attack of the CCG finished half an hour ago. She felt exhausted. There were three investigators who were waiting for her to take a position in a nearby park and then they assaulted her. One o them was even from the experiments of the CCG - a half-ghoul. She managed to deal with the two humans almost immediately, but the ghoul several times succeeded to wound her badly. Fortunately, her regeneration was enough high level. After a long battle amongst the trees she finished the investigator and get away before the reinforcements came.

Lenamy was walking down the dark streets. It was pleasant and quiet. Her footsteps were leaving little puddles of blood. She had to change her shoes as soon as possible. Her body was completely healthy, but she felt tired. Slight hunger crept into her stomach, though she had swallowed the three investigators before she fled. And the ghoul's hunger was unbearable... She had to find food and it would better to be soon. She ran as fast as possible, without attracting unnecessary attention. Soon she would have entered the unoccupied hunting zones of the ward. She felt her next victim...

Lenamy stood on an empty terrace, waiting in silence. Shadows hid her from sight. But this human was not like her usual victims. A girl. Still it had a nice aroma... Lenamy licked her lips, closed her eyes and crossed her hands over her chest as for prayer. Tiny ritual of gratitude, though she did not believe in any particular god. Once again she opened her eyes, and one was already red. She fell silent as a cat a few meters from her next meal and headed straight to the throat of the female. She could not wait to feel the warm blood and the new taste...

"Just a little bit further.." Arisu mumbled to herself, sighing, her building now barely visible in the distance. She could of sworn she saw something in the shadows but paid no attention to it, likely being some form of animal. She was much to focused on getting home. She then saw someone running towards her, a girl from the looks of it. She figured it was someone in a hurry to get somewhere and as such moved to the side a bit to avoid getting trampled, though she was a little to late and the girl ran into her side and knocked her over. She landed with a thud and let out a small 'oof!'. Groaning slightly she looked up at her assailant about to say something, that was until she noticed her eye. Her own eyes widened in shock, knowing full well that wasn't natural in the slightest. Panicking she moved to try to stand and run after letting out a shrill scream, though she tripped and landed flat on her face after a few simple feet. She rolled onto her back and looked up at Lenamy in pure fear. She had heard rumors of what she likely was, a ghoul. She never believed them of course, not until now. "P-Please don't hurt me. I-I'll give you anything you want! Just don't hurt me." She shouted up at her, cowering in fear and trying to scoot away.

Lenamy shook her head.

'And why I should not do it?', she muttered almost offended. Her kagune appeared and headed straight to the girl, but did not touch her pale face. The human quailed, waiting for the blow that did not come. 'I doubt you people spare any of your food. And no animal wants to die. Why should I even bother...'

'B-but...', stammered the female.

'You realize that I cannot let you go to the centre of the CCG and tell them about me, do you?'

The question hung in the air like a death warrant, as well as it was. But something woke insecurity in Lenamy. Almost all her victims begged for mercy, but she rarely paid attention to them. And yet... what she had to do? She could not leave the human to leave. She was not sure whether to attack. The situation was a stalemate. Just like in a chess game.

'Oh, well...' Lenamy approached the female slowly. The light of some advertisement shone on her face. She looked like a true incarnation of a nightmare.

Arisu wasn't sure how she should respond when she asked why she shouldn't kill her, knowing full well a ghoul likely thought differently than a human. She screamed and wrenched her eyes shut as Lenamy's kagune headed straight for her face, fully expecting to be impaled. Though, surprisingly enough she wasn't. She slowly opened her eyes to see the red tendrils only a few inches from her face. She was frozen in place unable to move no matter how much she was screaming at her legs to move. She didn't comment when she spoke about humans sparing their food, obviously referring to the animals they killed. When she mentioned the CCG and her going to report her she looked at her when she started approaching her. "I-I-I won't tell them. I promise. I won't tell anyone anything!" She shouted in response, starting to cry. "I promise. I-I'll tell you where I live? O-Or I don't know. Just please don't kill me." She whimpered.

'God... calm down', Lenamy said disapprovingly and clucked with her tongue.

She did not like to see tears. They reminded her of herself, years ago. The tears were a sign of weakness. Not that she could blame the girl. Everyone would be desperate if saw death before their eyes.

'I'll spare you.', suddenly she said.

'On one condition', she was extremely excited about the possibility of her wish to come true. But did the human would help her... 'Teach me how to be normal girl! Just like you! '

The girl's jaw dropped. Her eyes, still red and filled with tears, widened. Definitely this was unexpected.

'What do you say? Can you help me understand you? ', asked with enthusiasm the ghoul. The girl was too shocked to respond.

Lenamy took in her kagune, her eyes gained its normal colour and good-natured glow. She reached out to shake hands. The human shuddered.

'You can call me Amy for now. What's your name? '

If anyone watched at this time he could not understand why a very simple girl is absolutely terrified of his companion.

Arisu wasn't entirely sure how she even could calm down. Who could in this situation? Nevertheless she tried to, she didn't want to make this woman mad and make her kill her after all. She wiped her eyes on her arm an did her best to stop crying, though considering how close death was to her face it was incredibly hard to do so. Arisu looked shocked when the girl said she would spare her on one condition, though she didn't question it, she simply sat there and listened. Really, she was willing to do anything she wanted her to. Quite literally anything. At her request her jaw dropped slightly and her eyes widened visibly...was she serious? "What...?" She mumbled in disbelief. As she continued to talk it was obvious the girl was completely serious, she'd even retracted her kagune.

Arisu didn't know how to respond at all. Who would? She'd been nearly killed by a monster and now the monster wanted to learn to be human. Who in their right mind would believe something like this was possible? Rather than respond verbally she slowly nodded in agreement. Shakily she reached her hand out to shake hers, "I-I'm Arisu." She replied. "I...um...I'm not really sure what you want me to do though." She added, wincing slightly and hoping she didn't upset her.

Yes, it would not be bad if she had said what actually wanted. Being a human is a broad term...

'Well... to understand your thinking. For example...' It was not so easy, though, to think of a good start. 'How about a visit to the library?', maybe she should have been more specific. 'Or hospital... or, do you like to play paintball? We can start with that!'

She just wanted to see her reactions. That would be enough for a beginning. What do people like? What do they hate? They hated them, the ghouls. But why they did not accept them?

‘Hey, Arisu...’, Lenamy said after some reflection. ‘What do you like to do, really? What do you do?’
Does she like to play on any instrument?, Lenamy wondered. Perhaps on a violin or a piano? The music was a good thing. It did not judge anyone.

Light breeze crept between the human dwellings. Pity that over Tokyo never had stars.

Arisu nodded and slowly stood up, her house was behind her though she was sure Amy could kill her before she even got half way if she wanted to. She was surprised she had actually suggested something normal to do. She wouldn't mind visiting the library, she supposed. Though visiting the hospital was weird and she didn't exactly play paintball...if Amy wanted to do it she was inclined to do it. "Um...well...I'm pretty sure the library's closed right now. And it's kind of late to visit the hospital and play paintball." She replied. Despite everything and despite the fact she shouldn't be she was still incredibly tired. She tilted her head slightly in question when she spoke to her again, asking what she liked to do.

"Oh. I...I usually just read or watch TV when I'm not at work. I manage a Cafe a little ways away from here. " She explained. "I can take you there tomorrow if you want?" She asked. "And, well, it's kind of late...you can stay at my house if you want?" She added. It was an odd thing to suggest, but the girl could kill her anyway if she wanted to. Plus when she wasn't all freaky red eyed with tentacles coming out of her she was actually fairly nice. She was still scared of her, who wouldn't be? But underneath it all Amy looked and acted mostly human so she was slowly getting used to the girl.

‘Non merci! I do not like to sleep in other's homes. But the cafe sounds good.’ Many people knew ghouls loved coffee. It was one of the few things their stomachs could stand.

Lenamy walked past her, inhaling deeply the interesting aroma. Yet it remained pleasant meal. She had to find another victim, however, her hunger has sharpened. The ghoul took a few steps in the direction that had come. She turned and looked the girl with tilted head. She looked like a curious child.

‘Till a few hours, mademoiselle. Oh, where is actually the cafe? I do not intend to wait in front of your apartment like a fool.’

The risk was worth, maybe. Lenamy hoped the coffee was worth.

Arisu nodded slowly, internally sighing with relief as she declined her offer. She really doubted she would of been able to sleep with her in the same room. The girl didn't seem that bad a person, however, she didn't think she'd be able to get over the fact of what she was. Ever really. It also seemed the girl spoke french, or was french. She couldn't tell, honestly she hadn't paid attention to her much beyond her words and the fact she was a ghoul. Nevertheless she smiled lightly, her little cafe being something she was proud of. "Alright, that's fine. I just figured I'd offer." She replied. She tensed slightly when she walked by, about to turn to head home herself figuring she was leaving.

She paused and turned to her when she asked where her cafe was. It was actually preferable to her sitting outside her apartment waiting for her. She quickly pulled out a piece of paper and wrote down her address before passing it to her, "Here you go. Just in-case you get lost or something it's the one with the giant white cup of mocha on the sign." She told her. "Need anything else?" She asked.
