Two conflicting sides

In this world the most sentient creatures are divided into two classes, Human and Ghoul. Ghouls have been our mortal enemy ever since we diverged in evolution, and are monsters that only seek to kill us. All around us there are innocents being maimed and murdered in cold blood, only to fuel monsters in place of men. In what way are we supposed to coexist with another being who uses us as cattle? If they ever had the chance to overtake us in terms of power, we'd become nothing more than a beef cow to their masses. It is our goal as the CCG and the Doves to eradicate these monsters before us ourselves are eradicated. In terms of life, no ghouls can come before our species own. If we must eradicate their entire race in order to preserve ours, then that's exactly what we'll do.

The main issue regarding ghouls is the factor that they can disguise themselves near perfectly as our kind. If we are to eradicate them without harming innocents, there needs to be proper evidence in hand in order to commence a wiping operation. It is our sworn duty to protect the people, which makes those ghoulish bastards our sworn enemies.

Give their views of one another

Our entire lives we live in the backbeat of society's drums. In terms of life, ours is far harsher than that of the picturesque ones of the human populous. Each day we go out into the world fearing we may one day not return to our children, or return back to see our children gone instead due to the goddamn CCG. Due to us living our lives being hunted like animals we don't think years at a time, rather what is happening at the current second. Why waste time on planning for the future if you may never even make it to mornings light?

It is true that we kill humans, but unlike the media makes it out to be we usually don't do it for fun. Most is the keyword here. We do it in order to survive, as without human flesh our bodies rot away with the going months. Have humans even felt how its like to have your insides being eaten by itself, because in our reality it is all too common. We don't have the luxury to go out and eat whatever we want, as human food does nothing besides weaken our bodies due to us not being able to digest it. If it is a crime to live the only lives we've been given, I honestly could care fucking less. In this world we are perceived as monsters, however all we want is to live. It just so happens we must kill in order for that to be done. If we have to kill a few in order to save our own kind from a bitter demise we must do it, for our own innocents are dying due to humanity's misconduct. Our numbers are faltering more by each passing night, so those among us must live to see another tomorrow.

Such is the fate of our cursed existence.

The Plot of the Roleplay

This roleplay will be nurtured by the path our characters take in the story, much akin to the choices presented in TellTale Games or the Butterfly Effect principle. Despite the story being founded by open roots, I do have a plot in mind to help the roleplay progress along. This roleplay will be taking place in between the ending of Tokyo Ghoul and the beginning of :re onwards. I picked this time-period as it was often left uncovered in the manga, and felt it would lead to a major change in the story if acted upon properly. To those not accustomed to the manga, this factor won't matter all that much if you join. I have a handful of people who'd help explain some things that appear later down the line.

Now down to the actual plot.

This plot will be cannon to the first segment of the original Tokyo Ghoul storyline, with it changing paths as :re starts kicking in. The changes in action will be those of crucial events in the storyline (example: someone lives even though they were supposed to die/die when they were supposed to live.), and will be discussed with the active rper's before being acted upon. I actually plan on changing the outcome of some of the CCG's actions, such as the Auction raid taking a different turn, or maybe even allowing Tsukiyama's family to not be found out by the CCG. Even though these might only seem like slight changes, these will cause major ripples in the fabric of time.

This roleplay is not going to be a open world shit show, it will be following a plot with differing endings. If you aren't into character driven plots, this rp might not be for you.

Mood

“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.”
― Kurt Vonnegut

Slightly on edge due to stress and lack of sleep, probably best not to push him too far. If you want to phrase it better you can just call him irritable.

“I’m not gonna lie, I might be a ghoul but I have morals. You’re just a little girl, just go...” said Eiji under a shagged breath. “Just please run elsewhere, get help, just don’t stay. I can’t restrain it, this festering appetite is tearing me in two." Eiji inhaled a deep gasp and took a moment to think. "To me, you’re just a teenager, to this monster you’re a prime fucking steak. Do you not read me you goddamn morsel?” His speech was becoming more snarled as he spoke until it finally was nothing but animalistic guttural noises - apparently vanishing alongside his humanity. “I… tried… I… don’t… want… what… new… prey?!” Drool was now in place of his words as he glared at a new victim to sink his fangs into, the same girl he attempted to restrain himself for a few moments back.

"No, you can't... Stop!"

The words he said no longer made a sound, as the thing in place of his former self was no longer him. The creature that took it knew only destruction, and Eiji knew the girl stood no chance. “No don’t you fucking do it, she’s just a kid. We have a code, don't you dare!” Eiji was screaming out into a void of oblivion, hoping that the racket would somehow cause it to cease. The beast, to his dismay didn’t even flinch and soon gore was the only thing he could see through the lifeless eyes of the monster. All of it coming from a child. “What have you done? What have I done? Stop it you motherfucking ANIMAL! STOP US ALREADY!” Eiji continued to cry out, but alas it continued on as if it was fueled solely by the girl's shrieks. As each bit of flesh was torn off her body, her cries reverberated to Eiji from the outside in. Her outcries were the only noise he could overhear, and all he wanted it to do was end. “Please jus-"

“Excuse me, sir, your coffee is ready”, said a waitress while poking his cheek to get him up. "Huh?", Eiji uttered with a slightly confused tone of voice. "Your coffee, you ordered it a few minutes ago.", the waitress said as she slid it towards his limp body. "Oh yeah, sorry about that." his expression changed quite a bit as he began waking up, and he promptly took the mug of coffee into his grasp. "So it was all a dream I suppose, I mean I woke up from it afterall. If it is though, why did it feel so real? It felt as if I was in that very room myself...", he began to ponder to himself. As the server bustled away though, Eiji took a drawn-out sip from the mug, letting the bitter flavor flood over his tongue. "Not bad.." , Neilson said under his breath. It was honestly a pretty damn good cup of coffee, and he'd surely come here again if able.

As he took another slow sip from his mug, a T.V overhead flickered to life which displayed the local news channel. On it was a broadcast from the CCG services, and they were seemingly going over reported ghoul sightings.
"All across Tokyo, there has been an increased sighting of dangerous ghouls. These dangerous ghouls are also roaming types, which makes them harder than usual to pin down their exact location. One such roamer is the binge-eater known as "Blackguard". This ghoul is wanted on multiple counts of murder of CCG Operatives and civilians alike. He is not opposed to eating or killing anything in his way, and due to these factors is now declared an S rank."

"Another ghoul on the prowl is the S class known as Split. Although he has a lower body count than the former, he is known for cannibalizing on ghouls across the city. Despite his main prey being ghouls, he also seems to go after humans with a slightly higher rc count than normal. It is due to these reasons both of the ghouls are to be reported whenever possible. These creatures must be brought to justice." With the broadcast ending, the T.V shut itself off and resumed its slumber. As the T.V flickered off, Eiji glanced at his watch. "Hm, still morning. Guess I'll order another cup of coffee..."

Res wandered the streets with his hands in his pocket. He sighed as he pulled a phone from his pocket and input the code on the lock screen, *0824* read the phone before it unlocked and a normal looking picture of the beach popped up on the screen with an array of applications with ranging purposes. He swiped to the right a few times before coming across a dating app. He opened it and smiled as a large amount of pictures of cute girls popped up. He checked his messages to see that a cute looking girl had messaged him about a possible date. "Hmm." He said looking at the date and time. "It's been around that long. I could use a meal." he said with a smirk as he responded to the girl under the fake alias, Rin Miro.

[div class=Text]Rico walked towards the CCG HQ in the ward with a plastic bag in hand. He was about to start his shift at the HQ offices, so he scrounged up a few chocolate bars, a 4-pack of ramyeon and a couple of sodas. Rico needed some snacks to keep a sugar high up for his shift. Being a desk jockey was far too boring a soldier like him. He preferred to be out on the field, but it always came back to doing paperwork. Stopping in front of a electronics store, Rico watched a news report through the TV on display. The newscaster gave a report on Blackguard and Split, two ghouls that have been making life hard for Investigators these last couple weeks.

Not really wanting to head back to his desk job yet, Rico turned into a nearby cafe and sat down in one of seats. He set down his bag of snacks in the chair across from him. He orders an iced coffee and turns his attention to the news, reporting the same story as before. Looking to the side, he saw a young Japanese man...no...half-Japanese man, ordering a second cup of coffee as the report ended. Trying to start a conversation, Rico looks at the stranger beside him says in relatively poor Japanese,”Crazy stuff, huh? These ghouls running around killing people. I guess if they have to eat humans to live, it's understandable. But those that kill like that Blackguard guy... tsk"

N a___S o r i

The sky was uncharacteristically clear today. Sori stared out the window, fingers drumming against the glossy black screen of her new Cintiq graphics tablet.

Tokyo was pretty much what she had expected, which was surprising. She’d been mainly going off tourist reviews, which didn’t tend to portray Tokyo ghoul life very accurately, when she had picked out her apartment- a quiet little building lodged at the edge of the city, away from the main hubbub of cars that plagued Tokyo’s center. The buildings were packed densely enough to be cozy, but empty enough to be lonely. Perfect for a recluse like her.

She turned her tablet on, blinking as its screen flashed blue, then white. The next chapter of Tasty! was already laid out on its canvas in scribbly blue strokes, the booted heel of the main character stomping heroically through a CCG dove’s jaw. Feedback on this latest arc, in which main character Uni Lee stormed a CCG prison in a murderous rampage, had been overwhelmingly positive (though this was due in part to the fact that Sori counted the shocked Facebook posts of terrified humans as ‘positive’) and all she wanted was to release the new chapter as soon as possible.

There was a knock at her door. Sori sighed.

Her legs cried out in protest. It was genuinely painful to get up. She’d been working out for all of last night, trying to get back in shape in case the Korean police handed off their case to the Japanese and she had to deal with doves once again.

Ugh. How tiring. Scratching at the messy bun her dark hair was pulled back into, Sori trod on over to the door and cracked it open.

“What is it?” she asked grumpily, blue eyes blinking lazily at… at her smiling neighbor, who stood at the door holding a tray of beige cookies. Sori recalled seeing the woman before, picking up wild strawberries at the local mart. She gave off the buys-scented-candles-and-only-uses-organic-herbal-essence-lotion vibe that Sori absolutely abhorred.

“Hello,” the neighbor said in high-pitched Japanese. Her hair was bobbed, giving her a youthful appearance that stuck her anywhere from high-school-age to mid-twenties. “I’m Ayori- Ayori Nakagachi- and I live next door. Ah… welcome to the neighborhood!”

Ayori stuck out the tray, which smelled intensely of brown sugar.

“These are all natural and made with soy milk, not regular milk or butter. So even if you’re lactose intolerant, I’m sure they’ll be delicious.”

Sori blinked, slightly taken aback, before recovering enough to give a lazy smile back. “Oh… I see. Hello,” she said in lilted Japanese as she gingerly took the moving-in gift from the girl. It smells revolting. Ugh, I want to puke. “I’m Akime Ito. Nice to meet you.”

They made enough awkward small talk to satisfy Ayori, who was apparently an accountant at a local startup, while Sori lied about her name (should she have gone for a less distinctive one?), her occupation (graphic designer, ew), and her age (she really had to go out more often, if she could pass herself off as 23.)

To her relief, Ayori left just five minutes later, grinning like an idiot. Sori waved away Ayori’s promises of treating her to coffee (“I know this really holistic place, the furniture is all hand-woven wicker”) and watched the woman’s figure retreat into the apartment next door.

Feeling considerably exhausted, Sori shut the door and walked back to sit down at her graphics tablet, dumping the smelly cookies into the trash while she went. It was only while she picked up her pen that she realized that she had forgotten to turn the tablet off while Ayori visited. Uni Lee with his blistering red eyes yelling blasphemies against the CCG was all over the screen.

Oops.

She looked back towards the shut door through narrowed eyes. Hopefully Ayori hadn’t seen anything.
After all, those watery, all-natural brown eyes didn’t look very tasty.

Res yawned quietly as he walked into the apartment building that matched the information he'd been given. He pulled a slip of paper out of his pocket and looked at it. Room # 231 read the small slip of paper in his hand, all crumpled up. He sighed and walked up the stairs onto the second floor. He looked at the door numbers until his attention was taken by what looked to be a middle-aged woman holding a tray of cookies in her hand. He hung back until the woman had left the door and began walking towards her apartment. "Excuse me." He called out to the woman in broken Japanese and a slight Russian accent. "Could you help me find..." He pulled the slip from his pocket, "Room 231 please? I just moved in and I have no idea where to look." He said as a thin smile crossed his lips. The woman turned back around and started calmly towards him. "Of course! It's a good thing I caught you in time." She said innocently and directed him towards the apartment next door the one she'd just visited. "It's right here, if you don't mind I've got some things to tend to." She said as she gave a small wave and walked out the door. "Yes, thank you very much." He said somewhat loudly as she left. When his door closed, his smile faded and he pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and patted the bottom before putting one in his mouth and opening the window farthest from the door.
