Together Again - Story

"Hm, wow. Hey there," Aya looked up from where she had been texting several people at once, looking the new arrival up and down. "Huh. Ren! Or should we call you Aurora now?" She added with a grin, cocking her head to the side and trotting forwards, wrapping her arms around her old friend quickly and squeezing her into a hug. She had never been a hugger growing up, she had been too shy, but now she was so affectionate and way more confident.

Seto looked toward the entrance with a frozen shock, his mind uncontrollably overflowing with thoughts, like; Who is she? Did I lead her here? Where have I seen her before? Then suddenly, the thoughts stopped abruptly to the sound of Aya's voice saying the lady's name. Ren? Holy cow, you changed a lot, he thought as he begun to scratch the back of his head. Usually when Seto is thinking this much, he does this. Snapping out of the confused stare, he begins to get more comfortable, shifting his weight to one foot and crossing his arms. He smiled and told Ren,"Welcome to the party." Seto kept trying to think of any negative events that happened before she moved, but he couldn't remember anything related to her, except that she was his friend and what she used to look like.

Kumiko felt her patience quickly begin to dissipate as Noburo continued to to challenge Kai, her attempt to draw the topic of conversation toward something else having failed entirely. Rather than back down he just kept pushing on, the tension in the air becoming thicker. She wasn't sure why she expected any different. The comparison he just had to that of a villain was rather fitting, now finding him to be acting comical and melodramatic as Umeko began to crack under the weight of his words. For all of his ranting about how they were different he certainly had a knack for falling into his old habits. Surprisingly it was Makoto who had spoken up to stop his behavior. At least some of them had grown in the last decade.

"Ah, that's good. Glad to hear it," Kumiko said softly in response to Emiko's words. Something about it rubbed her the wrong way. She couldn't accept that she had some kind of personal paradise after everything that happened. Umeko began to attempt to comfort Kai by sharing the story of what had happened to her father, raising a sensation of mixed discomfort and regret over the topic. After how kind she had always been to her she had wished that there were some way she could have thanked her before she left, but she simply couldn't relate to these kinds of things. Loss wasn't something she was unfamiliar with, but the things she lamented over were far more abstract. All of the people in her life up until now that she had actually cared for had left or been cast aside by her own hand in order to try and attain a brighter future. As she reflected on this, she could only think that some of that 'poison' Kai and Noburo had just been arguing about would be fantastic right now.

"So, Emiko!" She spoke firmly above the group, the restraint that she had been holding up to this point weakening now that they were so close together. Since everyone else was intent upon bringing up all these heavy subjects then there was no harm in letting a bit of her frustration seep through, right? "You say 'attempting'. Does that mean you have some new big lead?" She asked, eyes now locked onto the woman as a smirk crept unto her lips at the choice of where she placed her emphasis within the words. "You can share that with us, right? We were friends after all, we certainly wouldn't betray that trust."

As she prepared her next statement in her mind, she found her and the entire room suddenly distracted as the last member of the group finally arrived. Staring blankly at Ren, she couldn't help but feel that she looked familiar. Was that normal? She did know her after all, yet the memory of the air headed little girl didn't seem to match up with this person at all. "Hey. We were starting to wonder if you'd show up." Kumiko said, her expression not even showing the slightest hint of pleasure as she continued to try and sort out whatever memory her mind was trying to recall from the back of her mind. Aya referred to her by another name before walking forward and embracing her.

"Aurora, huh?" Mumbling aloud, she tried to piece together the connection that she made. Suddenly it hit her, now staring wide-eyed at the pink-haired woman. "Wait, wait. Aurora as in the singer? Seriously!?"

Noburo turned his attention away from Ren or Aurora going back to his thoughts. Noburo had never lossed someone like Umeko and Kai hed. All of his family was still alive and healhy. "Maybe I should apologize. After all they where your closest friends. Alright if I get a chance later I will suck it up and admit I might have been wrong." He nodded to himself and listened to the rest of the group welcoming Ren to the tree house. Some seemed more half hearted then Others, Of course his was the most lame greeting of all.

Umeko remained in a sort of silence. She glanced at the others, but she just wanted to dart away. She found herself watching Noburo. How could he refuse to understand. She had always been able to diffuse his antics before, but instead today she just cracked. She stood and removed herself from Emiko. She decide instead she move to the window. She stood looking out away from everyone. It had been so exciting at first. She just want to meet and see everyone again. To talk about old times, and what everyone was currently doing. But no everyone get hung up on the pain or their own selves ideas.

Then there was Ren who sucked all the attention away. Umeko was jealous. She’d never be the girl who was beautiful. She was tall, flat chested, and to athletic to be found attractive she guessed. She had dated a few fellow athletes in her time, but she was always to focused on her career and trainer to put much effort into dating. It was nice to be lost in her own thoughts. She could focus on how she’d never date anyone instead of her father. This got her thinking. Maybe they shouldn’t be thinking about past memories. They should be making new ones. Sure they had all changed, but the core part of themselves had to still get along.

She perked up at this thought. Enough to have that large grin on her face again. She turned back to the group slamming a fist into her palm. “ Say, Guys who wants to go out and have some fun tonight. Let go do the stuff we couldn’t as kids. Lets not try and be friends from the past, but friends in the present. Let's go out and do something fun!”

"And what do you have in mind?" Aya asked in a voice that was almost a purr, so different to how she had spoken when she was younger. Her confidence practically radiated from her now as she moved away from the wall, swaying her wide hips lazily from side to side as she approached Umeko. Usually when she wanted to have a bit of fun she went clubbing or something, but there was a chance that her friends weren't into that sort of thing-- perhaps they could go out to dinner as a group or something and properly catch up. "I'm up for anything, so long as you let me get changed first."

@Masia

Noburo felt a pair of eyes on him but he didn't move, Instead he merely remained sitting with eyes closed. The excitement in Umeko's voice caused his head to turn and his eyes to open. There Umeko was standing with a large grin on her face choosing to focus on future memories instead of past ones. Just seeing her smile and enthusiasm was enough to get a non pessimistic reaction from Noburo. He was going to say something when he heard the purring voice of Aya. Out of almost instinct his head turned towards the voice and his eyes went straight to her hips as the swung back and forth. After a few seconds he realized what he was doing and quickly Turned his head away and started starring at a wall. "Well I'm not allowed to go to work today so I am free." he lowed his voice to a barely audible whisper as he cursed the school board and their stupid contracts.

She would catch Noburo and his linger eyes on Aya. She'd give him a little smack to the back of the head. " I was think dinner..and." She went hushed. She wanted say drinking. Even thought their had just been a fight over it. She had no aversion to alcohol. He fight had merely been Noburo's distaste full attitude. "Maybe get a look at some night life. I'm like Noburo here I can't go back to work today. I also need to change. I'm not going out in a track suit. Not today at least." She was smiling again. It was good. "I'm sure once were are out we can find a good time guys." She gave a strong head nod of yes to herself. She was certain once they got out and starting have fun, they enjoy one another again. She would then pull Aya and Noburo closer to herself. Whisper to the two of them. "And on a more hush note...A few drinks might help everyone feel a bit more at ease. But that hush hush." She gave a quick subtle glance at Kai. She didn't want to hurt him, but she also knew all of her friends were grown adults now. They were free to indulge in whatever they wanted.

Noburo felt an impact on the back of his head, "Ow what the hell" He hissed at Umeko. he turned around and was about to say a string of insults but seeing the smile on her face caused him to promptly shut up before he did something stupid to upset her again. Then without warning he was grabbed and dragged off of his feet and into close proximity with the two girls. To close to close to close! He tried to struggle out of Umeko's grip until his brain registered her words. "Understood" he whispered.

@Masia @ailurophile

Noburo's hiss would only get a large grin out of the tall Umeko. The grin soften as she watched him turn to around to face her. She knew behind that look was a man holding his tongue. It made her proud. He thought about something before he said it. With his whispered understood she'd swing and arm around his neck. She had never been good at staying out of someone personal space. She almost pulled the two into a side ways hug on each side of herself. "Good." She laugh again. That idiot from the bottom of her belly laugh. She didn't really understand Noburo's struggle to remove himself from her. Did she move to suddenly? It never crossed her mind that it might be that fact he was in to close to herself and Aya.

Time skip thing!

Noburo looked himself over in the mirror of his car. He had changed clothes once he got home to something more suitable for going to dinner with his old friends. After Umeko had brought up going to dinner everyone had willing (some took more convincing then others) to meet up at 6 oclock for dinner at a restaurant nearby the tree house. Noburo now was dressed in black slacks with a black jacket covering a light blue polo with a tie that matched the color of his shirt. It wasn't the best he could do but it fit the occasion. He also had an old wrist watch that he picked up in England. He checked the time, It was currently 5:30.

Noburo sighed as he opened the door of his car and stepped out into the parking lot. He adjusted his tie and walked inside and made sure their reservatons where still valid and thankfully they where. He told the person that he would be back in a few minutes and walked back outside. Once he got outside he walked away from the windows and door and leaned against the wall. Well Noburo you said you would apologize to Umeko and Kai and now is the time to do it. While you are all eating you can say it fast and deliberately that way it will be over quickly. He nodded to himself as the coversation continued to play out in his head.

Umeko had triple checked herself in the mirror before she had left her house. She had made sure Emiko was settled. She had been ready much to early. Always excited and she'd jumped the gun and showered and dressed way before time. She'd left Emiko so her own leaving early. She played with the thick texture of her sweater as she walked. She'd worn this for a press conference once she hoped it would be proper for dinner. A brown thick knitted sweater that ended at her elbow. A gray skirt that was a little shorter than what Umeko would've liked, but for her that was most everything. Umeko may not have had the figure of the other girls, but she had long then muscular legs. The young woman had legs for days. She had pulled the dark brown ankle boots out of the closest. She'd worn them once sometime or another. Her old house, or well current home as well, wasn't far from the treehouse so it wasn't far to the restaurant either. She chose to walk instead giving herself sometime to settle her heart beat.  She should gone for a run, before that would've done the job.

Her brown hair was thrown into the best bun she could manage the shorter strains beside her bangs held back we a few gold colored clips. Surprisingly even sporty Umeko ear were priced and she'd found a pear of pearl studs for the occasion. She'd even broken out the make up, just a natural look. That was more than Umeko wore on the everyday though. She'd thought about wearing pants or being a little less dressed up than this, but she remembered all the other girls this morning. She was worrying at her nails now. She'd been extra careful to make sure every speck of dirty was removed from under them. She couldn't compete with out attractive everyone had become. Fuller figures, cute outfits, and long beautiful hair. She was never brave enough to be more feminine. Today she would be. Honestly Umeko was an attractive woman. Thin and tall she'd fit right in with a group of models.

She was to caught up worrying at her nails she walked right by Noburo standing outside. She was only about 15 minutes early right. She'd hoped she timed it right.

Aya's ample bust had always been a source of private embarrassment when she was younger, hence why she had donned baggy jumpers and loathed the idea of the beach or the swimming pool. Now, however, as she was getting ready to go to dinner, she found herself reaching for one of her more daring tops. It was not the most revealing by far, but paired with a mini black body on skirt, it was far from the conservative outfits she had once favoured. Would her friends stare, maybe even disapprovingly? There was a chance, but... Let them look, she decided.

After ruffling up her blonde hair and applying a fresh coat of lipgloss, Aya grabbed her handbag (and a light cardigan) and headed outside to go to the restaurant. She felt confident, and yet nervous at the same time-- some people had changed so much that it was as if they were strangers. To be fair, she thought as she passed by a window and caught sight of her reflection, she had changed a lot too. Outwardly, at least.

In her daydreaming state, Aya almost accidentally ignored Noburo completely, but caught sight of him just as she was about to pass by and whirled around to face him.

"Oo, somebody put in an effort."

His thoughts were interupted by aya's voice and his eyes opened. Their stood aya in a black mini skirt and a white too that reavlead just enough to grab a guys attention. He focused on her face and used all of his will power to keep his eye from going downwards. "I enjoy looking nice for certain occasions. I will also take that as a complement." he looked down at. His watch again and started walking towards the door. "Come on little miss proper. Might as well go sit down at the table."

Noburo wondered if any of them we're waiting in side, he got his awnser as he stepped in the door. Waiting inside was Umeko wearing a brown sweater an a black skirt though here was longer then aya's. It was a very different look then what Noburo had ever seen but the outfit did fit her. He quietly made his way behind her and tapped her on the shoulder.

"Get out."

Seto was abruptly woken up and chased out of the kitchen by one of the staff, through the dining area and out the door. He didn't remember how he ended up falling asleep in the kitchen, but he did remember waiting for his childhood friends to meet him there. Thinking back, Seto could've swore he noticed Umiko, and Noburo in the entry way. Taking a deep breath of the cool evening air, he looked around hoping no one he knew saw that since this was the third restaurant he got kicked out of this week.

Verrrp, veerp. His phone stared vibrating in his pocket. Instinctively he reached into the pocket and pulled his small flip-phone. Curious, he flipped the top open to find out what it was, a text from his work. Seto took a few seconds to scan through it, skipping minor details and getting to the point. There's a concert he has to help set up for tomorrow night. He'd invite everyone to come see it, but he forgot to tell everyone what he did for a living, and what happened in the time everyone moved away.

Umeko made a little startled jump at the tap on her shoulder. She had be preoccupied with argument in her head about how maybe she should've just worn pants. Maybe this would seem like she was trying to hard to be like the others. Did that make her seem less confident than her past self? Noburo's tap woke her from her thought and after she settle the little jump she was face him and Aya. She was nothing back a large grin and bright brown eyes. "Is that a tie?" She'd poke Noburo tie with an eyebrow raised. "A tie...How fancy." She was laughing again. A good sign she had moved on from their confrontation in the tree house earlier that day. "Aya, you look great. " She really didn't know what else to say to the blonde. Even Umeko had to keep her eyes up.

The noise from the kitchen got her attention though and their was Seto. She was waving towards him. She was hard to miss even in a large crowd. She'd keep waving until he made his way to them.

Noburo couldn't help but smirk as Umeko jumped from him tapping her shoulder, it was an entertaining reaction. Her comment on his tie caused a crown to cores his face before disapering when she laughed. He was glad to as we she was back to normal. "Well excuse me for trying to look nice. Plus seeing me in a tie is probably about as unusual as seeing you in a skirt, though I will admit the oufit works for you."

 He watched as Umeko started waving at something and caught sight of Seto. "would you two go grab him. I will go sit down at the table." Without waiting for a reply from either Aya of Umeko he walked over to the front desk person and spoke to him. The man nodded and showed him the way to the table. The table was big enough to fit 10 people and it was arranged in a cirule towards the back of the room. Noburo sat in a spot that had a wall behind him so he could lean against it If he wanted to.
