Luck may favor the bold, but victory favors the prepared. We decide that the situation is too much for us to handle at this moment, and an expeditious retreat into the hallway that leads into the rest of the ship seems to be our safest bet. The ionofuser's gauge is climbing quickly, only a few more seconds until its power cells reach capacity. As it charges, the tentacles become more and more frantic, flailing and slapping the metal ground in a noisy display of force, forever extending towards us. A thought comes to us as we continue to back away, and right after the ionofuser reaches its maximum charge, we flip the switch on the side and power it off, unplugging the cord from our suit's power pack. The result is instantaneous, the metal tendrils cease within seconds, gingerly lowering themselves to the floor in a loud clatter, now only pulsing and throbbing slightly as they worm their way around very slowly. So our theory was right, or at least the result was what we had expected. Whatever this being is, it craves energy, though how many types of energy it desires we don't know yet but electricity is apparently one of them.



Now we have left the cryo-chamber, standing open in the crossroads of several hallways. Looking down each one reveals no changes from the room we just left, more tendrils have pierced through holes in the ceiling, out of ventilation grates, these things must be integrated into the entire ship. We will have to be cautious, any extra devices we activate could draw more attention, and we have no idea what else could be out there still. The floors are marked at the entrance to each hallway, as we know they are at every crossroads, giving simple directions of each section of the ship like roadsigns. The ones that we see, minus the obvious Cryo-chamber which we have just exited, are marked Main Deck to our left, Engine Rooms to our right, and Galley directly ahead. Each hall is equally dark and foreboding, but none of them appear any more or less dangerous. Harking back to the read-out that the computer gave us, we know that the Engine Rooms are uninhabitable, so the other two are definitely more immediate options, but if we are ever to get this ship moving again, we will certainly have to fix the engines at some point. Our wrist-monitor springs to life again, flickering into existence with the familiar green screen. However, this time it seems to have uplinked to the ship's systems to download a ship map:

However, it only shows our current location, instead of the usual overlay for each area, the system must have been sapped, it won't give us the entire layout until we can reactivate the main computer. So now that we have some idea of where we are, we must decide where to go next.

> Take the left hallway to the Main Deck. There might be supplies or even survivors out there.


> Take the right hallway to scout the Engine Rooms. Easiest to check them now while we're here.

We could never forgive ourselves if someone was still in stasis in there and we just left them.
