  • Prelude
    The year is 1892.

At the conclusion of a months-long ordeal, Quincey Morris, Dr. Van Helsing, and the Harkers finally succeed in ending their torment by killing the beast- Count Dracula, Vlad Dracul; the last of the Tepes line.

Battered, bruised, but relieved beyond measure, the Harkers return home, naming their newborn son after the brave, late Mr. Morris, and having forged a lifelong friendship with the good doctor.

They believe the nightmare is finally over.

Little do they know, they may have just unleashed something far worse...
    Premise
    The year is 2024.

Since the death of the last heir to the Tepes line, the Court of Blood has been in chaos. The other four families (the Bathorys, the Varneys, the Karnsteins, and the Ruthvens) have essentially been vying for the throne since Dracula's death, and it is not going well.

Meanwhile, as the vampires scheme and conspire, making alliances in the shadows and backstabbing each other left and right (sometimes literally) as they try to restore the Court to its former power, the descendants of the Harkers, Morris, and Van Helsing have formed a league of professional monster hunters to eradicate every last one of them.

With hunter attacks increasing in frequency and efficacy, vampires, dhampyrs, and their witch and werewolf allies must band together to outsmart their dangerous foes, while at the same time still vying for the ultimate prize- that which will bring the children of shadows back to their former glory.

When the dust settles and a victor is crowned at last, who will claim... the Throne of Night?

F.A.Q.
1.
Is this RP first-come, first-served?
Not quite. We won't be requiring applications or anything like that, but we might ask you a couple questions about your character concept(s) &/or writing style just to make sure you're a good fit before directing you to submit a CS.

2.
Is there a character limit?
As many characters as you can handle reliably posting a paragraph for once a week. Each House/Faction will be capped at 5 PCs, for a total 30 PCs max for the RP.

3.
What species are available?
Vampires, dhampyrs, werewolves, and witches are the playable races in the RP- information on each can be found in the Lore thread.

4.
Will FCs be realistic or drawn?
Drawn, please.

5.
Can we invite our friends?
Of course! We just have to confirm they'll be a good fit. But please, no being clique-y or exclusionary.

6.
When is the CS deadline?
Once you've been directed to start making characters, we expect to see profiles go up within a week.

7.
When does the RP start?
Once we have at least 2-3 characters per House. We want each House to have approximately the same number of player characters to keep things on a relatively even footing between them in terms of interactions, relationships, and power/influence, so we will be watching that balance between the Houses as we accept new characters, and we recommend you do the same when you apply.

8.
Is there an overall plot?
We do have some overarching plot points to help drive the story forward, but we'd also like it to be directed and led by the interactions of the characters and desires of the players.

9.
Who decides the outcome of IC combat?
Unless we feel there is a story-related reason why a fight should have a certain outcome, we will leave that to the players to decide.

10.
Can we collaborate on posts?
Absolutely- collaborations are especially encouraged in combat scenes and fast-paced dialogue, to help maintain the RP's pacing.

11.
What is a posting round?
Basically, a specific GM post will open each round and, from that post, everyone has a week to get in at least a paragraph per character.

12.
What about posting more or less?
Totally fine as long as you discuss it in OOC. If you're busy/lacking in inspiration, ask to be skipped. If you're super into a scene, ask to post more. We just want to keep things fair, so that no one feels like they're being left out or pressured to post faster than they're able to/comfortable with.

13.
What does 'be proactive in plotting' mean?
It means that, once you have your character concept(s), you should start reaching out to other players with ideas for what the relationship is like between their character(s) and yours. Don't just say 'I'm open for plotting' and leave it at that.

14.
I have more questions?
Awesome- ask away!

I'd like to voice my interest here, looks like a fun concept :3 I don't have anything too specific in mind just yet if accepted, but I feel myself gravitating perhaps towards recycling an old concept I have for a witch character, and maybe a second werewolf character as well. I'm pretty flexible at any rate though, so happy to change things around or pick up more/drop characters as needed.

As for availability, I have to admit I might be a little scarce over the Christmas break next week, but afterwards I should be available after work some days/most weekends to catch up on posts and such. Will understand if you're looking for players who can commit to a faster pace than that though.

One question I did have, can I check where you plan to host OOC planning and chatter? Apologies if I overlooked that somewhere haha.
