Futuristic Times have changed, but not really [CS][CLOSED]

I do love, though, how we're arguing about weapon practicality in a made up universe in which space vessels are not only used for transporting goods and personal travel, but preyed upon by theives, who also live either in deep space or another planet and travel around in an oddly familial group to ravage the galaxy....
SHUT UP EXPLOSIONS ARE THE BEST MEANS OF TRAVEL AND WARFARE

yeah while you guys are trying to be "Practical" with your weapons I would much rather destroy a planet or a city sized vessel with the powers of the cosmos.

Name : Verne Micajah Kingsford, or simply 'Verne'.

Age : 25.

Previous Occupation : Colonist Scientist/Technician.

History : Verne started life like most - a perfect student with a thirst for knowledge and a good hammer arm. Eventually, he rose up in the ranks and was hired by the government for his academic talents to go on a adventure beyond the stars, as they called it. Verne wasn't stupid - they didn't want to waste the doctorate scientists on a dangerous mission, but he agreed anyway.

As a result, before the 'incidents', he was made the head scientist in a small human colony in a relatively far away planet. Their job was simple - build and colonize so that more people could come in to properly build a city. However, then there was the fiasco about that whole moon exploding laser cannon, and that bio-weapon...of course, there is no proof of the thing he didn't do. Because he didn't do it. Problem is, once the government frame you for something that there is still no evidence for, you don't get off the black list easily. So, he's decided to stay low for a while until the multiple accounts of genocide and crimes against humanity blow over. There still is no evidence.

That was a good while back, and the planet he doesn't know about and has never been to still hasn't recovered from the weaponized virus he 'supposedly' released into the air.

Weaponry : He owns a powerful railgun based on the design of the death laser there's still no evidence of Verne's involvement for. It slowly recharges, but it is devastating, and good luck with personal shields with it, as it is very powerful. Other than that, he doesn't carry much else than his trusty multi tool and his size changing wrench (all of his own design).

Occupation: Weapons Engineer. He can do a great deal of varied things, but his specialty is in weaponry. For no reason relating to the death laser or the bio-weapon. He doesn't actually have a project as such, but he has been working on one of the guns to try and improve its accuracy.

Note: He isn't mad or anything like that, he was just a victim of mistakes and bad press. He used to work hard to try and solve his mistakes, but he has lost luster for it now and has now become more attuned to the outlaw life.
