Character

Companion system

The title companion speaks for itself, basically someone who accompanies your main character in their quest to survive. If you choose to kill your companion off or they die due to error, you can introduce a new companion.

Companions do not need to be human and they are completely optional. They can also be temporary and as long as a companion does not die they can return at any point

Ranged (bow, crossbow, throwing knives etc)

Light guns (pistols, revolvers, sub-machine guns)

Sanity is probably the most important skill. It can be lost if the character goes through extreme trauma such as losing someone or if their home is overrun. It can be slowly re-built however through actions such as talking to another character about their feelings, but it is very hard to regain once sanity points are lost.

Bio: Pureheart isn’t even his real surname. It is a name he gave to himself. He’s worn the name for three years. When the first tears started appearing across the globe he was a cop in a small quiet town in New England. On his worst day he would deal with wild or rabid animals that had made their way into people’s back gardens or the occasional drunk citizen causing havoc, maybe the occasional domestic violence every six months or rape case every other year. On his best day he would sit in the office almost all day, sort out paperwork and go on patrol later in the afternoon. He’d never fired a gun apart from target practice and as a kid he’d had an obsession with Westerns.

Everything changed when reports came in about brutal murders. There had only been two murders since he started. The death count began to rise, eventually while out on patrol he spotted a man dressed in Ceremonial Japanese warrior armor, which fitted the description of the killer. In one day he had taken five human lives as well as killed two family dogs. John was prepared to arrest the man, but then he charged. In the panic, John opened fire, killing the man with three shots.

He attempted to remain in the town as things started to get worse, and then a gang came into town on horses and in model T Fords and began causing havoc. They forced him and the other “marshals” out of town, leaving them for the creatures in the woods. Out of five officers, only two made it back, including him after a full six months in the woods. He discovered that the outlaws had slit his daughter’s throat as she had attempted to resist.

John then went on a brutal quest of revenge, killing a number of outlaws. While he was able to re-claim the small town, several of the gang escaped and hid in Mexico and Europe. He left the remaining officer in charge of the town and made his way into Mexico first. It was in the Southern States that he was ambushed by a soldier from the future. They played a deadly game of cat and mouse in the wilderness for a month before the two caught up with each other. He spared her life and they sat around a campfire as her wounds healed. This was how he learned of the Preservation Institute (see Sarah’s bio)

After he told her of what had happened to his town, A.C.A. (Advanced Cybernetic Assassin) or Sarah agreed to assist him on his quest for vengeance and so they headed on the road into Mexico, but were caught off-track during the failed Nazi invasion of America and so wasted even more time. After another year, they made it through the now shut Mexican/American border. This is where our story starts off…

Name: Sarah/A.C.A

*Age: Mid-twenties

*Gender: female

*Nationality: South African

*Enhancements: See skills. She also has a strong, yet lightweight armor covering her as well as enhanced vision and can go longer than an average human without food or water. But she “still bleeds like everyone else”

*Species: Cybernetic human/Cyborg

Appearance: Dark hair tied back in ponytail. Her armor is a deep shade of red with some black markings on it covering her from the top of her chest down to her toes. There is also a battle helmet but she rarely wears it. Over her armor she wears survival clothing. Her eyes are protected due to enhancements, as is the rest of her but she feels uncomfortable walking around wearing nothing but her armor. That and it helps her keep a low profile as cyborgs are discriminated against.

Build: 5ft 4, skinny.

Starting equipment and weapons: Dual Katanas made of future materials. A futuristic one-handed submachine gun, blaster pistol, a lightweight bow and a sniper rifle.

Stealth (33)

Knowledge (30)

Craftsmanship (30)

Bio: In her mid-teenage years, Sarah was abducted from the streets of Durban by the Preservation Institute. Over the next few years they ran various twisted experiments on her, turning her into the ultimate assassin to be part of a deadly task-force of cyborgs that would turn the tide in the war the Institute was losing. However, a week from when they were scheduled to perform brainwashing she made a daring escape, killing everyone in the facility before destroying it. This only angered them and so the Institute continued chasing her, becoming a fugitive she was eventually pulled into a tear. Lost in another chaotic world she encountered Pureheart, and mistaking him for a member of the Institute she attacked and hunted him.

Sarah tends to be quiet and socially awkward but when thrown into any combat situation she can become the most “destructive, deadliest angriest b*tch you've ever seen”

Relationship with character

Trust: Strong level. She trusts pretty much no one else.

Feelings: Close friendship

History: He sparing her life was the only display of human kindness she had seen in three years and to top it all off he healed her wounds. She hadn't had a proper conversation with anyone in two years, and suddenly this man who shot her was being kind, charming and helpful. In exchange for him saving her life, she agreed to join him on his quest for revenge, despite his protesting at first.
