Chase walked into the apartment after a long day of work, taking his jacket off, and dropping his keys unceremoniously in the key bowl he had next to the door, making a loud CLANK.

"Andy?" He heard Chase call.

"Yep. I'm home..." He said, a bit less enthusiastically than he had meant to. He reached up and removed his cap, letting his ears out for the first time in a few hours. He rubbed the tips, trying to get the circulation moving through them again.

Chase came clopping into the room, a piece of pizza in his mouth, and the television remote in his hand. "How was your day-"

"Seriously, Chase!" Andy cut him off. "You need to shut the shades if you're going to not wear clothes! How many times have we talked about this..." He said, walking quickly over to the window and yanking the shade shut.

Chase rolled his eyes, walking back into the living room and flopping back down on the couch. "Because the BRICK WALL across the alleyway can totally tell people that I'm half goat. Chill man..."

Andy just shook his head, exasperated. While it was true that this apartment, unlike their last one, was hard to see into, Andy didn't want to take any chances that Chase would be seen. He followed Chase into the living room. "I'm sorry Chase... I just-"

"Yeah yeah, you just don't want me taken away and disected like the aliens in those sci-fi movies... I get it..." Chase snapped. Then he sighed. "I just... I like the sunlight... and feeling of it on my fur..." He finally admitted, his tone changing to sound a bit sad.

Andy felt guilty about snapping at him. He sat down next to his brother. "I know... I'm sorry..." He sat there awkwardly for a moment, not sure what else to say.

"Uh... Oh! There's a school dance this weekend, and I was invited!" Chase said, snapping out of his sadness instantly. "Can I go?"

"Chase...."

"Come on! A girl invited me! I promise I won't let go of my crutches once!" Andy thought it over. "Please! I never do social things!"

"... fine!" Andy finally gave in.

"YES!" Chase said, jumping up from the couch and doing a little dance.

Andy sighed, but chuckled as he watched his brother dance, quite horribly in fact."Don't make me regret this." Chase was busy dancing. Andy stood up and went to get his own slice of day old pizza for dinner. He found the box empty. "Really Chase? There were three slices of pizza in here this morning!"

"I'm a growing Satyr! I need my food!" Chase responded, flopping back on the couch, making a point of stuffing the rest of his piece in his mouth. Andy sighed as he examined the empty fridge. "I'm gonna head down to the market." He finally said, closing the fridge and walking back over to the front door. "I've got my phone." Chase waved from the couch in affirmation, distracted by his TV show.

Andy exited the apartment and climbed down the dirty stairs of their apartment building and finally stepping out onto the street, pulling his jacket a bit tighter against the chill which had arrived earlier than usual. It was already getting dark. He turned down the street, heading for the market.

A wraith walked down the street in the city that never sleeps but unlike the city, the wraith literally never slept. He had tracked a wounded demon to the city and had engaged it a few days ago after it made the mistake of attacking humans. He had landed a fatal blow but the demon survived it and a chase ensured thus leading him the New York.

Béros walked down the street whilst clutching his sword and was on the lookout for the demon. He ignored the humans and any insults that they hurled at him for he was used to it. He walked down the alley and encountered the wounded ice demon. "YOU! YOU ARE A MOCKERY OF DEATH!" The demon unleashed a barrage of ice spikes at him and it hit him but no blood poured onto the street. "Begone demon. Go back to your realm and i will spare your life. Fail to do that and i will kill you." The demon failed to take heed of the wraiths warning and was killed by it.

He continued to walk along the streets of New York and was unaware that he was a wanted man for mass murder.

Andy was walking home from the store with his spoils, counting the cans of to make sure that the guy at the store hadn't ripped him off yet again. Satisfied he looked up and almost rammed into a man coming down the street in the opposite direction.

"Woah, sorry man, I didn't see you-" He stopped, mid sentence, as the man in front of him's features became more clearly visible. The man almost literally skin and bones, and appeared to tower over Andy despite the fact that he was only a few inches taller. "Uh-uh-uh-uh" Was the only sound that Andy could make, and he was pretty much frozen with fear and confusion. He knew the man before him was a Wraith, a mythical creature associated with death. He had heard of the before, but never thought they were real. Of course, the same could be said about him and his brother.

A terrifying though came into Andy's mind as he stood before the wraith. Why was her there?

Béros felt something hit him and looked down to see a scared boy. "You should watch where you are going, child. There are some things that do not take kindly to being bumped into and you have nothing to fear from me unless you have something to hide."

Andy's eyes widened. Hiding something? He and his brother were hiding something quite large from the general human public, namely the fact that they weren't human. Andy could only hope that that wasn't what the Wraith was talking about. Truth be told he knew practically nothing about Wraiths.

Béros looked at the child and studied him for a few seconds. "You should get home, child. The streets of this city are not safe and there are many bandits that would seek to relieve you of your wares along with demons and other foul creatures who seek to murder you just for fun or for food."

Andy nodded weakly, then walked quickly past the man, glancing back once before practically sprinting home. He threw the door open to his apartment, then slammed it and locked it behind him, for all the good that would do. He leaned against the door, then slowly slid down it, trying to recover from the experience.

Chase stuck his head out from where he was sitting on the couch to see what was going on. "Andy? You ok?" He asked. He got no response. Worried Chase got up from the couch and walked over to his brother. "Woah man, you look like you've seen a ghost."

"Not exactly..." Andy replied.

Béros watched as the boy walked past him and saw him sprinting away. He thought nothing of it apart from the fact that the boy was the first interaction he had that didn't result in violence for a long time. He decided to follow him to make sure the lad was safe and was rather good at staying out of sight. After a while, he saw the boy enter the building and believed he was safe.

He heard the sound of what the humans called a car approaching him and loud noises. A car chase was happening in the neighbourhood and the wraith had no concept of what happens when a car going 100MPH is coming towards you. He wasn't aware that it was a machine incapable of fear and did not move out of the way. The car's occupants had just robbed a small store and were shooting at the pursing cop car. The Wrait withdrew his sword but found himself being thrown into the air then being crushed.

His bones were crushed and were jutting out of his skin. His neck was at an angle and his skull was fractured in various places. He was killed but for him, it was just him getting knocked out. His body would repair itself when it brought itself back from the dead but for now, the wraith was lying in the street and was dead. But he wouldn't remain dead for no wraith is capable of dying via normal means.

Andy was just telling his brother about his experience when he heard the sound of the car hitting the wraith, and the terrible crunch. He hurried over to the window, and stuck his head out, observing the scene, and the abandoned body on the street below. Without a word he rushed downstairs again, his brother throwing on a hat, pants and a jacket and quickly following him, figuring in the dark no one would notice his feet or his odd gate. Andy rushed over to the crumpled body. "Oh, god... Sir... Sir can you hear m-" He asked as he knelt down next to the figure. He stopped speaking when he realized it was the wraith.

"What?" Chase asked, surprised by his brother's apparent fear. "How bad is it-" Then chase saw the wraith as well. "WOAH!"

Andy sat there next to the wraith for a moment, struggling to decide what to do. Finally he sighed. "Grab his legs." He told Chase.

Chase stared at him, now knowing that his brother was insane. "Dude... no..."

"Chase, grab his legs. We're taking him upstairs."

After another moment, Chase sighed, and with disgust and fear visible on his face, he helped his brother carry the wraith upstairs. The laid him on a blanket on the couch in their apartment. "Now what?"

The wraith did not stir and it would have been impossible to tell if he was actually dead or just knocked out by wraith standards. He stank of decay and was unaware that he had been moved. His bones were slowling knitting themselves back together as a black layer of smoke surronded them. His bones were slowly withdrawing back into his body and his skin was closing slowly but he was still knocked out.

The two brothers watched the wraith with a sort of horrified fascination as his bones knit and his skin few back. Chase finally shuddered. "Um... What do we do?"

Andy sat there for a moment, then sighed and shrugged. "I have no idea..." He realized he hadn't thought this plan through very well. He knew little to nothing about Wraiths, and wasn't even fully sure if the man was dead, or if he could die. And now he had put his family at risk by bringing the man in.

Béros's body continued to repair itself and a few minutes later, the wraith was brought back to life. He saw two boys looking at him and recongised one as the boy he had seen earlier. "It is very unwise to bring a dead wraith into your hope. He may believe you are the enemy that killed him and strike you down before realising his mistake." He slowly sat up. "But i thank you for bring my body here instead of leaving it outside at the mercy of bandits."

When the wraith began to speak, both boys jumped. Chase backed away, not sure what to think. As odd as it sounded Andy thought he had been getting used to the man's appearance, but the moment he moved, it surprised him yet again. "Y-yeah. It didn't seem right.... and the humans could have seen you..." Andy replied. He made a note to never bring a dead wraith into his home again.
