arrogant youth borne of Euron Greyjoy's malicious desire and flesh of Sansa Dustin, Quellion Greyjoy is the only child of this short lived coupling. as sole child of the mad priest, many hardships befell Quellion from a tender age. Learning to read and write came second to proper prayer and sacrifice to the Drowned God. Consumption of seawater natural to the child. as most children of nobility, Quellion experienced all the sea had to offer before he was a man in earnest. from sailing to swimming, hunting and fishing, Quellion was forced to master his environment or be lost to it. the relentless whip of religion wielded by Euron Greyjoy caused insurmountable stress on the young child, compounded by his mothers eventual illness and flight to the greenlands. alone, Quellion felt naked and raw under the tutelage of his father. tho friendships did bloom in the wanting eyes of Quellion Greyjoy. a cousin, heir to the rocks of the sea, made comfortable the youth at home, despite the minor difference in age. maverick cretins of the pyke island and its lesser extensions were drawn to Quellion after he ascended to adolescences. as the same as all other fresh faces who glimpse of true independence on the horizon beyond, Quellion Greyjoy took these orphans of fate and molded them into the crew of his first seaworthy vessel ---- raven wing ---- and flaunted to all others what he perceived as accomplishment. aboard raven wing, Quellion converted a life times stress towards Euron into burning rebellion and, to crew alone, swore off the drowned god that his father sacrificed for. Quellion, in teenage indifference to evil and misfortune, swore himself to the enemy of his father the storm god. Quellion managed to keep hidden his herrsy for months before, agrieve in the night, Euron came. upon his boy with righteous indignation. upon inquisition, Quellion bent and admitted to Euron, reaffirming his pledge to wound Euron. Quellion fell to his scion's fist of fury, as blood pooled at the feet of the elder, Quellion begged for life and forgiveness. Euron gave both at a cost. days later, Euron demanded of his son sacrifice. he was told to take ravens wing and his bastards and leave the sanctity of the iron islands, banishment for falsehood to the drowned god. tears collected as the implication truly struck quellion, tho Euron added clause to keep safe his son, should the god below give mercy that Euron was hesitant to deliver. Quellion was set to sail the world, to go beyond the sunset sea and return to westeros' opposite coast. only then would euron welcome Quellion back, knowing that the drowned god had spared his son his ire. these words provided kindling for the embers of hope in Quellion's heart. at the age of 15, he and his first crew left the iron islands. a ghost ship on the horizon. years had past. Quellion assumed dead, lost at sea, and life returned to normalcy.
tho the seas stir and storms cloud the horizon. as pirates reinfest the step stones after many years of abscence the word of survivors is of a man who sails upon a ship of nails and with a crew of immortal souls, lost between life and death.
Notes:
1) Quellion Greyjoy left the impression of an unruly youth upon his departure, no more talented at sailing than any other noble son. his skills were lacking in combat and his ability to read hindered by his father.
2) Quellion Greyjoy found it difficult to reach out as a child due to his fathers strict philosophy of returning to the old ways, conflicting with the compassionate callins his heart sang.
3) Quellion Greyjoy supposedly sailed the earth, tho he has not returned to westeros formally. he has made his base in the step stones with his pirate fleet.
4) his pirate fleet is strong but not too strong k. it is made of many cogs and galleys and not greyjoy made ships for war. but pirated ships.
