The Winds of Change

That's what I assumed. What I meant is that I'd probably ask before creating/describing any locations, buildings, etc. that might be important for the main story.
Oh! That makes sense. Yeah, if you think it will change the game at all, go ahead and ask me to see if I approve. Chances are I will, but still. Better to ask.

So... Here's my thought...

I have had this interesting idea in my head, and I have begun to notice that it is VERY well built for an RP...

I don't have much yet, but I'm working on a basic plot and have already created a fairly decent intro/overview of the whole thing. On top of that I also have a pretty good idea of how the worlds' rules work.

Enjoy, and tell me if you like it.

--------------------------------------------

Who are you? Are you the dream, or the dreamer? Do you rule the world, or does the world rule you? Even if you knew, would it make that much of a difference?

You see, things are in so constant a state of flux that nothing stays the same for very long. It doesn't matter if you are sane or mad, walking or resting, solid or liquid, talking or silent, resting or waking. None of it matters. You will not stay the same for long. Of course, time is subjective, but after a time all things will change.

But then, what of the things that never do change? Many things are always the same. Dreams never really come true, people never really fly. You'll never really get younger, never really get smaller. So many things in life are simply stable, never changing, never with an exception.

There is a universal law that states something similar to this: For every constant there must be a place where it can be in flux. The same law states that the places of flux must also be accessible to the places of constants, although there must never be that great of a connection or else the worlds will begin to corrupt their counterpart.

Earth is a place of so many constants. It has been since it started, really. However, having a place that was so constant disturbed the fabric of existence. In the very instant the Earth was made another world was born, destined to be Earth's shadow. There things that - where on Earth are constant - can be in flux. There the large grow small, the mad go sane, the strangers are identical, even the land allowed to flip in places. It is truly Earth's shadow.

This new world brought balance to existence again, but like all things it did not last. Things had changed once more, but this time it would be the catalyst for infinite change: Humanity was born.

With the birth of Humanity, men and women were formed on the face of Earth's shadow. Spectators of the greater scale sighed in relief, noting that they would not be forced to take action to save their own existences as well. But something was strange was revealed with Humanity's rise that would have never been known before then: Dreams could not be formed into reality on Earth.

This revelation did not require any action still, but it piqued the curiosity of many watchers. They watched as the Humans dreamed, and watched with glee as their dreams were brought to life in the world of their shadows. The stories they would write would make themselves manifest in their shadow world, their songs ringing through the air and changing lives on their counterpart's surface. And yet despite what should have been ultimate chaos it was organized, and Humanity continued to thrive in the shadow of Earth.

For a long time the other world was known simply as The Shadow or The Other, but finally one watcher read the words of a strange man who - while it was not his intent - had described The Shadow perfectly: Wonderland.

Many of the watchers gathered as the one who discovered this name called them with the intent of discussing what was to be done with Earth and Wonderland. The others were pleased with the name, and were even more pleased with the result of the meeting. After long discussion the watchers decided that they would take their places on Earth, joining Humanity like they had been for ages although without leaving this time. With their extended stay the watchers began to create connections to Earth and Wonderland, places where the separation between them was thin and easily breached by those with the Talent. However, the creation of these places also allowed powerful, malicious creatures from Wonderland to come through to Earth, slowly leaking the shadow world's horrors onto Humanity. The watchers panicked, quickly gathering those from Humanity that could cross and use Wonderland's gifts, training them to be able to cross the border and fight back against the terrors of their shadows'.

While there are few that know of Wonderland and fewer still that can reach it, Humanity has been crossing the Divide - the name of the separation between Earth and Wonderland - since 1869, just two years after Wonderland earned its name. There are sanctuaries in each major region of the world for the people who know, although each are very small, the largest hosting 27 members (Western Europe Sanctuary, London, England). The organization has no clear name, but their mission is very clear: those with knowledge must act using that knowledge, helping to keep the peace both on Earth and in Wonderland. Those who cross come out changed, never again to be as they were. Many welcome it, but a few reject it.

So here we are, although I suspect not for long. Either way, O Wanderer, welcome. Welcome to Wonderland, where lies and dreams become legends and realities. Do try and survive.

Same goes for me. I'm sorry for not saying anything before simply disappearing but I hope that this RP can continue once everybody's got time again.
Also, I completely forgot to give you some feedback for your story, @Darth Corvus. I can't remember everything (and unfortunately I don't have the time to read it right now) but I at least remember that I really liked it and it seemed to be well thought out.
Hey, thanks man. I appreciate the feedback. It's currently a running RP with about 7 people able to post (only three have, and two of the three have some work to do to make sure their characters can interact at all) and more that I am just waiting for CS fixes from before they can post, but other than that it is going well.

And yeah, I agree with you. I hope that it can get back on its feet soon.
