The idea of pirates have existed nearly forever. Google's definition: "A person who attacks and robs ships at sea." Vikings were a great example of medieval pirates. Here's even a picture of a medieval pirate (the attire looks like it would fit the stereotypical pirate's clothing).

This picture is based off of medieval times. Besides, the Golden Age of Piracy wasn't too far from the Renaissance.

Backstory: To tell Sorai's story, we must start with his master, the Blood Lord, Sekkai. Many lords reside in towers or underground castles, hiding from the 3 empires. But they are not cowards, no. Each lord is protecting a group of children, who soon learn their lord's skills and become his disciples. The Blood Lord spends his days in a tower on a high hill, where even the clouds cannot reach him, where he is hidden from the Aarthdon empire. A vast majority of his disciples are learning basic Magery, but a few are learning the darker arts of Sorcery. Sorai was a young apprentice swordsman Fallen (Fallen are descendants of Angels that were cast out of Heaven) living in a small village inhabited by others like him, until a Skyblade task force burned it to the ground and killed many of his loved ones. He was soon found by Sekkai under the rubble and taken in as his disciple, being one of the only disciples to learn the Blood Lord's dark arts.



Personality: Cold, yet sensitive. Becomes warmer once familiar (not by much, however...)
Weapons: Conjurer's Gauntlets - amplify Sorai's magical capabilities by tenfold. Gifted to him by the Blood Lord.

"Sanct Lor" - Invisibility (20 seconds, turns caster fully invisible. becomes frail and weak during invisibility)


"Ex Uus" - Speed (10 seconds, quadruples speed. moves incredibly slow for 10 seconds after)


"In Lor" - Light (1 hour, weak light. eyesight dims for 5 minutes after)


"Ex Por" - Unlock (removes a lock. caster becomes clumsy for 10 seconds after)


"Kal Ri" - Summon Weapon (10 minutes, summons a sword)


"Kal Por Ylem" - Mark (point to teleport back to with Recall)


"Kal Ort Por" - Recall (teleports back to the point of Mark)


Sorcery (destructive magic)


"Vas Ylem Rel" - Polymorph (20 minutes, transforms caster into a dragon, can breathe fire and swipe with claws. Cannot use any other magic while polymorphed or 5 minutes after polymorphing.)


"Ort Grav" - Lightning (casts a bolt of lightning from the caster's fingertips. Inaccurate)


"Vas Flam" - Fireball (throws a searing-hot ball of flames from the caster's hands. Slow charge and drains caster's energy)


"Xen Mani Por" - Vampyric Bite (morphs canines of caster into vampire teeth, allowing blood to be taken and to recover slightly. Must take blood in and hour from casting or caster will pass out.)


"In Vis Port Ylem" - Earthquake (3 seconds, causes the ground to shake violently. Cannot move 5 seconds before or after casting. A disruption in the caster's concentration will stop the casting)


Weaknesses:
Magery
Each spell has a weakness described above. Most are time limits.


Sorcery
When a spell is cast, the target must be hit or the caster will experience intense pain and immobilisation for 2-5 seconds. Polymorph and Vampyric Bite are excluded.


 It is possible for Sorai to teach others very basic techniques (Light, Blink, etc.) however, only a lord or other Grandmaster Mage can teach higher circle (difficulty) spells. Not all of these spells have been learnt by Sorai yet. I won't say which ones, but imagine this is his character late rp.
