The Stone's Scent (Narumi & Mediocritys Muse)

Narumi

Five Thousand Club
Rue heard the doorbell go and watches as her mother Julie when to answer it. Recently since she had turned eighteen she was going to be forced to marry a man of which she didn't know. This was a well known family tradition that had been running in her family for years and now she was it's next victim.

She swallows gently and runs a hand through her soft, brown hair. She didn't know how to feel. She was nervous. What if he didn't like her? She thought to herself.

Kurosawa Yuki was from Japan and just as Rue his family has a long running tradition as well, arranged marriage. He didn't really want to go along with it but at the same time he didn't want to dishonor his family by refusing, so now here he is standing at the door of the future brides parents house. Honestly he didn't really know what to expect, his family abhorrently abiding by their traditions to show no photo of the woman in question. The first time he is to see her is the first time that they will meet, a tradition that annoys him deeply. The whole blind mans buff phenomena jumps to the forefront of his mind as his mother rings the doorbell.

Yuki watched as the door opened, him in a bundle of nerves because of the whole situation. He placed his hands behind his back, trying to at least look presentable to the girls parents. As the door opened they were presented with what he suspected to be the girls mother, Yuki awaiting whatever may come next.

Rue stood up once he was let inside, she watched her mother shut the door once he had entered and she blushes. He was so handsome and cute, she smiles at him lightly. She then curtsies in a polite manner. "Hello sir, my name is Rue" She says gently. "I am the daughter of Julie and your Fiancé, its lovely of you to come to our home" She added.

He watches as she did a curtsy, such a thing isn't something he encounters that much back home but he has been around the world so it didn't surprise him that much. He did a sight bow as is the custom in his family, his mother now talking with Rue's mother about something or other. It is nice to meet you, my name is Kurosawa Yuki, but you can just call me Yuki." His first impression of the girl was that she was nice and attractive, although his father-who is a tough as nails business man back in Japan-often told him to not rely on first impressions heavily.

His eyes moved over to his mother and her mother and then back to Rue, this who situation being rather stressful to him. He posed a question as their parents were facing the other way, speaking more casually now, the opposite as a moment ago when introducing himself, "Are you as stressed as I am?"

Rue nods gently and smiles with a little blush. "I an very nervous, but I'm kind of excited, you know?" She says softly and then sits down, gently patting a seat beside her. "Sit down, make yourself at hone" She says gently.

"Tell me more about yourself?" She suggests.

He sat down beside her, still feeling a bit out of it at the moment. The whole marrying someone because your parents say so is-to him at least-old fashioned. Yuki looked over at her as she asked him to tell her a bit about himself, which sort of caught him off guard seeing as how he didn't have anything in mind at the moment. He paused momentarily to think about something worth mentioning, "Um, I'm not really sure." He rubbed the back of his neck nervously, "Well My family's and I are initially from Tokyo." He added with a smother tone, "What about you?"

She smiles lightly. "I'm Native Japanese, um, I have six brothers and one sister... There isn't an awful not to say about me. but I'm sure you'll get to know me a lot better soon" She says with a light nod. To avoid the silence that was bearing in, she came up with a little idea. Instead of just sitting around awkwardly maybe he would like to see the rest of the house they were currently living in? "Do you want to see the rest of the house?" She suggest softly.

He cleared his throat before she asked if he wanted to see the rest of the house, him looking over at her and nodding. "Sure," he said standing from the couch. He thought back to what she had said earlier about having seven siblings, which he himself could not begin to comprehend. Something like that would be beyond the scope of an only child that never really had any other kids to play with at his home. He sort of felt like he should add something to his description of himself, seeing as how she probably wanted to know more than just where he is from after all.

As she stood from the seat as well he said with a slight smile, this time being the first time he had smiled in her presence. As he grew up many people would sort of stare at him when he smiled, him not knowing but they were transfixed he just has that kind of face it would seem. With the smile present he added, "Quite the opposites aren't we, your seven siblings to my zero." He awaited her response and the tour around the house.

(Sorry for the late reply!)

She smiles again, nodding and then stood up herself, helping him up to his feet and then beginning to manoeuvre him around their large house which held nine children including herself and her mother and father. She stood him to nearly every room in the house, ever bathroom, every bedroom. She described each object carefully.

She soon took him into her bedroom and toured him around, taking him into her connected bathroom and started talking about the items in the room. She hoped he wasn't growing bored.

(It's all good, we all have stuff to do sometimes)

Yuki had followed her to each room, listening to what she had to say about the house. She seemed to be going over board with the explanations but he figured to let her go ahead and continue, it most likely being nerves on her part. Honestly he probably would have the same problem if he had to show someone around a house he lived in, which in truth he was glad that he didn't. They finished the tour with a visit to her room, the house being quite large considering the amount of people that live within it. He stood in her room and said with a light smile, "You do have a lovely room."

He paused and stepped further inside, running some fingers through his hair in nervousness. "So," he said and then paused and he turned around to face her, "How do you feel about this?" Him meaning the whole arranged marriage thing, surely anyone would have some sort of reservations about something like this.

Rue blushes and thanks him, sitting down on the edge of her bed and patting a space down beside her. "I'd like to see your room sometime, I'd bet your house is very nice" She says and smiles, wrapping her arms around herself. She was quite liking him, she honestly thought he would be mean and uncooperative.

"I like the idea, but I'm nervous at the same time. You?" She asks.

"Well," he said and then paused for a moment, thinking about how to exactly word his response. He double blinked and then said with a slightly uncomfortable smile, "To be completely honest I didn't like the idea at all, having someone else decide who you're going to marry isn't exactly how I figured on doing it." He paused once again and looked up at the ceiling placing his hands behind him to support his angled position, saying in a more complacent tone, "I always thought I'd fall in love with someone and then propose in a romantic way." All in all he did figure that was how it was going to go, but his parents had another idea for him entirely. He looked over at her with a slight smile adding in a sort of embarrassing tone, "But I guess this isn't so bad, I think you're a good person and you're cute...so..."

Rue's smile sort of faded at that. She knew that an opinionated side would come out soon enough. "Hm" She mumbles and then turns away slightly. She soon stood up and started heading downstairs with him. She didn't say much. She wraps her arms around herself and sat on the sofa as she watched her mother talk with his mother, almost endlessly.

He followed her back down to the living room area, him noticing an abrupt change in her demeanor. The change was probably due to what he had said up in her room, however he didn't think it would have been right to lie about it. With that in mind he glanced over at her from his seat on the sofa, her sitting next to him but a foot or so apart. It was apparent that she had something on her mind at the moment, her not acting as she had been earlier when he had first met her. Their mother's had quieted down in the other room, him figuring that they had decided to sit around the table or something.

With that in mind he twiddles his thumbs saying as he looked down at the floor, "I'm sorry if I said something to upset you." He paused for a moment and then added shortly after, a look of slight embarrassment appearing on his face hinting that he wasn't use to such things, "I wasn't saying that I am against being with you...I just would like to get to know you before we, you know."

(Oh. It's fine)

Rue didn't say much she just nodded lightly, she could just be an I sensitive person. She thought that he was making her feel like she wasn't good enough or something. She didn't ask to marry him after all. She rolls her eyes lightly and flicked through a book, glancing at the clock here and then wondering whether his mother was quite busy discussing irrelevant things win her own.

She soon puts the book aside and crosses her arms, watching them until they finally broke the conversation apart and he was ready to go home along with his mother. The next few days Rue would have to visit his house.

They eventually concluded their conversation, which took a good bit of time considering he didn't think there was that much to talk about I the first place. When they were done speaking him and his mother left back their house, figuring on some comfortable days at their house were ahead. Yuki didn't really know what to think about al of this but at the same time he figured on just going with the flow for the moment, her seeming to be a nice girl. With that in mind he spent three days at his house with his mother, his father overseas at this time. Three days have passed since the first meeting and it seems that she will be paying a visit to their house soon, him wondering what this day would be like.

Rue was currently travelling with her mother to her new Fiancé's home. They had travelled for only a few minutes and were soon there. She looks around. It was rather large and extravagant, but him having a lovely house wouldn't score points on how much she was attracted to him. She watches as his mother greeted them, inviting them inside and telling her that her future Fiancé was in his room. She hesitated, but went off to see him, just to be polite. She knocks in his bedroom door lightly.

It seeming that he was in the middle of drawing something, the drawing seeming to he a rough sketch.

As she came in he looked back over his shoulder, a brow raising as he wondered who was at the door. When he realized who it was he smiled lightly, him not expecting her until later today. With that in mind he just figured that they decided to come on out a bit earlier, him and his mother having done the same when they had visited them. When he realized who it was he said he pushed the sketch to the side of his desk and stood from his seat, "Oh hello Rue, I didn't expect you until later, sorry for the mess."

(Haha c: That's okay! I love pictures way more)

Rue smiles weakly. "Hey" She says quietly. So far his bedroom was very nice, quite impressive. It just goes to show that he was probably a very wealthy man. She just shakes the thought away, it was about love after all, not money. She slowly made her way towards him. Maybe she was being too hard on him. She smiles. "Nice drawing" She complimented. She goes over to the window, one of which had an amazing view as she gazed out of it. "I'm sorry for my recent behaviour. It was unnecessary and I guess I just took something you said in the wrong way and I'm sorry" She says.

"Your recent behavior," he stated aloud not getting what she was talking about, him not remembering her acting in a bad manner. "Don't worry about it," he said with a light smile, him adding as he walked over to the window as well, "We can't be expected to like each other on the first day after all." With that he stretched and looked out of the window as well, the sun perched in the sky as he added with a warm smile, "I'm sure the moon and the sun didn't get along to start with either but after a while they did." He didn't really know if his comparison held any water but he figured it would get the point across one way or another.

She nods lightly as she turns to him. "I guess so" She says with a shrug and then began to wander around his room. It seemed very mature and artistic. "Do you like drawing?" She asks, curiously as she looks at some paintings on his wall. He seemed to be good at Art, whilst she couldn't even manage to draw a stick figure. She smiles as she gazes at the paintings.

He looked over at her as she asked if he liked to draw, him nodding in response, "Yeah, I have ever since I was a child with crayons." In truth he had always like to draw, which is odd considering no one else in his family really liked doing it at all. That in itself just might have been him trying to be independent from his mother and father, him waning something all to himself. He walked over next to her as she looked up at the paintings that he had hanging on the wall, them all being from throughout his life.
