Hello! Here's the character sheet page for the Southside of Chicago rp. We're still accepting, so if you're interested, feel free to send me a DM. And you don't need to have seen the show to participate in the rp!

The basis of the rp is just life in Chicago, with a focus on those living in the Southside. There will be three different neighborhoods (Southside (poor), Eastside (middle class), and Northside (upper class)) that characters will be from, and then everyone will attend the same high school located in the Eastside. Of course, your characters don't have to be high school students -- young adults, adults, and children are welcome, too!

We will have a Gallagher-like family, called the O'Reillys. Siblings are still open for this family, but closing soon.

Personality: As a middle child, Kris has the opportunity that not all of her siblings do: to disappear. However, she is not good at it. She doesn't want to disappear; she wants to have all eyes on her; she thrives on the attention. She's not afraid to do whatever it takes to get said attention, whether it be good or bad. The older she gets, the less she likes getting in trouble and getting grounded (who does?) so she's learning ways to bring about that attention positively. Or trying to. She's got a bubbly, talkative personality-- sometimes too much of one.

When things don't go her way or she goes without the attention she so craves for too long, she starts to get cranky. She can throw a tantrum that a toddler would be proud of: foot stomping; screaming; crying; etc. She means well, but with such a large family, it's hard to have eyes on her at all times, which is one reason she likes having younger siblings that look up to her. She's not much of a caretaker, she can't cook, and she's a tad bit on the disorganized side. But she loves trying to help others-- in her own way, of course.

History: Kristina had a pretty uneventful childhood. She endured the usual stress of a large family, tried caring for her younger siblings. As she got older, it quickly became apparent that she was not babysitter material. No one ever made it to bed on time, and they were usually hungry because Kris can't cook unless it comes out of a box, and even then, it's iffy. She talks on the phone and texts all day; taking away her phone is the cruelest form of punishment there is.

She was fifteen when she got caught with a boy after hours, in her bra and a pair of shorts, in the park. She had been smoking a little bit as well when caught by her older sibling (can change). Basically, Kris was dragged from the park and told never to see that boy again. She never found that shirt either. She still saw the boy, too, for a while until he dumped her. Never one to stay down for long, Krissie moved on.

  Jack is a natural leader who has no problem taking on any and all responsibilities that come his way. As the oldest sibling, he learned from an early age how to be organized and get things done. He has a ‘take no shit’ attitude. He has little patience as is, but even less for bullshit and nonsense. He isn’t the smartest guy in the world, but he has a lot of common sense and picks up things quickly. Jack doesn't show many emotions, and he doesn’t share his real thoughts with many people. He had to learn to be strong and deal with whatever came his way from an early age. Jack does his best to not let things get to him, but he has a temper and will only take so much before letting it out, and he doesn’t shy away from a fight. Most people know Jack as a serious hard ass, but the people close to him know that he is a compassionate and caring guy who loves a good laugh.   Biography:
  Jack is the first born of the O’ Reilly family. From an early age, he was subject to the craziness, drama, and outright dysfunction that was his parents. As soon as he could walk, talk, and fend for himself, his parents stopped paying much attention to him. Initially, Jack didn’t mind being on his own and doing things for himself, he actually preferred it to dealing with his parents. Gradually over time, he began looking after his siblings. He didn’t even realize it was happening at first. With everyone of his siblings, their parents would care for them and act like good parents for a few months before slowly passing off more and more of the responsibilities off on Jack, until he was taking care of them anytime he wasn’t at school. Things got really out of hand with his family responsibilities when he was 13. That year, their mother left and their dad got put in jail. Jack actually stopped going to school to care for the youngest siblings and do side jobs to do his best to pay the bills. Unfortunately, it was too much for him to handle on his own, so he called every extended family member he could to borrow money for the bills. Once their father got out of jail, it was already too late for Jack to go back to school that year, so he waited until the next year to return, putting him back a year. From that time on, Jack always worked. He worked any job he could and tried to learn any skill he could to make money. Even with their father out of jail, Jack had to care for his siblings. Their father was a drug addict and alcoholic who spent more time out partying, than working or being at home with his kids. Jack always resented their dad for that and as soon as he was big enough, he stopped letting their dad come to the house. He figured the kids were better off without him. Jack barely finished high school because he had so much on his plate outside of school. With college never even being an option Jack saw, he just doubled down on working and taking care of his family.

  - Jack is a boxer on the side. He began training the year he was out of school, and started fighting when he was 15 to make some extra money. He is really good and would love to go pro, but it would interfere with his responsibilities to his family.

  At first glance, TK doesn’t seem like a typical southsider. He is mild mannered, doesn’t do drugs or party, and he always has money. But what can’t be seen with one look, is his disregard for authority and his inclination for reckless behavior. TK doesn’t take well to being told what to do and doesn’t trust people in power. His lack of respect for authority is one of the ways that he justifies his criminal behavior. He does however, care about how he treats people, and only commits victimless crimes. He is a compassionate and empathetic guy who feels strongly for the people that he cares about. He also considers himself somewhat of a pacifist, and will only engage in a fight to defend himself. TK doesn’t trust easily and can count the number of people that he trusts in the world on one hand. He also doesn’t take criticism well and can be very defensive.

  Biography:
  TK’s mother died from complications of his birth. Because of that his father was left to raise TK on his own, and he couldn’t help but blame his son for his wife's death. At the time of his birth, TK’s family lived in the middle class part of town and while they weren’t rich, they were comfortable financially. But after the death of his mother, TK’s father needed help taking care of his newborn while he worked, so they moved in with his mother’s sister on the southside.
  
  TK was raised by his aunt. His father, unable to ever let go of his resentment from his wife’s death, didn’t really want much to do with him. While it hurt him for his father to basically ignore him, his aunt was an amazing force in his life. She was caring and loving, and she taught him how to be a good person. His aunt was the center of his world as a kid. Unfortunately, when he was 12 his world turned upside down. One day when his aunt was walking home from the grocery store, she was hit by a police car and died on impact.
  
  His aunt’s death hit TK hard and he was lost after. He spent that time alternating between anger and sadness. It didn’t help that the cop that killed his aunt was let off scot free. His father, who at that point had become an alcoholic, didn’t change his attitude for his son at all. Instead, he took on a very hands off approach to parenting, only supporting his son financially and making him go to school.
  
  Without the guidance of his aunt, TK was lost and began getting in trouble with the law. He barely made it through high school and as soon as he was eighteen, his father put him out of the house. On his own, TK didn’t know how to take care of himself, so he stayed with his best friend and began doing anything he could to make money, mostly choosing illegal ways. As soon as he was able to get his own place, he moved into the apartment next door to his friend.
  
  Extra Info:
  - TK and Jack became friends not long after his aunt's death. He considers the O" Reilly's family.
  
  - He doesn't know his extended family well, having only been around them a few times. But he did connect with his cousin online when he was 18, and they developed a close relationship even though they haven't spent much time together in person.
  
  - His job is just a front for his illegal hustles. Those hustles include stealing (but only from companies, not people), selling stolen goods, and selling drugs whenever he gets a good hook up on some. He is the guy in the neighborhood that people go to if they need something, cause he either has it or can get it.

She thrives under pressure and loves a good challenge. She will also go out of her way to prove people wrong, which sometimes gets her in trouble. Malia is extremely comfortable in her own skin and carries herself with confidence. She is outgoing and social, a natural conversationalist. She values truth and honesty and can also be very blunt at times, especially when she drinks. She is also very opinionated and has no problem sharing her opinions, even if they get her a negative reaction. She doesn’t shy away from conflict and if she’s bored, she enjoys instigating issues. She was taught to never throw the first punch, but once a fight is started with her, she has no problem finishing it.   Biography:
  Malia was born and raised in Los Angeles. The apartments where she lived with her parents also housed a large number of her extended family, with many other family members living close by in the neighborhood. Her family has a long history of gang involvement, and growing up she watched her father, uncles, and cousins go in and out of jail, even losing some family members along the way. But it was all normal for her, and she always knew that she wanted to follow in their footsteps, much to her mother’s dismay.
  
  When Malia was 13, her father was sent to prison with a life sentence, leaving her mother to raise her on her own. And while she was loving, her mother was a strict disciplinarian who always tried to steer Malia away from gang life.She instead tried to get her daughter interested in other things. And while Malia did find interest in music, rapping in particular, her intent to join the gang never wavered. She spent her high school years hanging out with the neighborhood kids, most of which were either in a gang or planned to be, and making music. Out of respect for her mom, she stayed out of trouble as much as she could and really just put her focus on music. Malia is smart and always got good grades, so graduating high school was easy for her.
  
  Once she was eighteen and graduated high school, Malia finally joined the gang. Her mother immediately threw her out of the house and Malia went to stay with her cousins. Malia took great pride in being in the gang and didn’t flinch when it came to any of the illegal activities, she saw it as just being a part of the job. There were perks to being in the gang though, she was never broke and always had people that had her back. After joining the gang, music became less and less a priority for Malia, until she eventually stopped rapping all together.
  
  Things turned sour for Malia one night randomly at a fast food restaurant. Some members of a rival gang were there and they started taunting and causing problems for Malia and her crew. One thing led to another and a shootout popped off. It ended with one of her cousins dying in her arms and her being arrested for gun possession. She got 18 months in jail.
  
  After getting out of jail Malia went to visit her father and much to her surprise, he begged her to leave the gang, telling her that he didn’t want her to end up like him. She already knew her mother felt the same way, and this time she cared about what her mother thought because it matched her fathers thoughts. Not long after visiting her father, Malia reached out to her cousin TK who lived in Chicago and asked if she could come stay with him. He didn’t hesitate in saying yes, and she packed her car the same day. Malia has just arrived in Chicago and has no idea what to think of the southside where her cousin lives.

  - Malia's father taught her to box when she was little because she was a small kid and go picked on a lot. After learning to fight and warding off her bullies, she started to pick fights just for fun.
  
  -Malia loves music and is a good rapper. She hasn't made any music in a few years and hopes to get back to it now that she has moved.

He can be charming when he wants to be though, using it as a way to get things that he wants. Jeremy is not one to keep many friends, preferring people to respect or fear him than like him. He takes any disrespect that comes his way very seriously. His unforgiving nature means that once someone is on his shit list, there is no getting off.   Jeremy was born into a family of old money and high prestige. From birth he was treated as a prince, like all of the men in his family. He was raised by a nanny, barely seeing his parents who kept themselves busy away from their home. He grew up not wanting for anything, able to do whatever he wanted, and with little to no discipline. The only time he would get in trouble with his parents, was if he did anything that made the family look bad. The Parkers are held in high regard in their high society circles and their image is very important to them.
  
  For the elementary school, Jeremy was sent to a private school, but when it came time to start middle school, he persuaded his parents to let him go to public school. His entitled attitude made his transition to public school difficult, he got into trouble with his teachers a lot. Nut once they realized that his parents didn’t care how their son was in school, the school staff stopped disciplining him. When he entered high school, Jeremy started playing sports which he was really good at. He is a natural athlete and that became his focus. He was never a great student, but in high school he stopped trying all together, instead paying other kids to do his work.
  
  After high school, Jeremy didn’t want to go to college so he decided to travel for over a year. Only recently has he returned home. His father had enough of his traveling and called his son home to start learning the family business.

  Leo is a quiet guy who rarely says much. That coupled with his stoic look makes it hard to know what he is thinking and many perceive him as unapproachable and intimidating. And he prefers it that way, allowing him to keep from opening himself up. Even though he doesn’t speak often or share his thoughts, it doesn't mean he doesn’t have opinions, beliefs, and thoughts about things, he would just rather keep those things to himself. He is a go with the flow kind of guy, as long as it’s not something that he firmly is against, finding that the easiest way to avoid unnecessary conflict and not draw attention to himself. He has no problem standing up for himself, he is no push over. While he is not easily offended, he cannot stand disrespect and doesn’t take criticism well.
  
  There is another side to Leo though that very few people get to see. He is very understanding, compassionate, and empathetic. His lack of communication usually hides those traits. He doesn’t trust easily, but once someone has earned his trust, he is very loyal and would do anything for them. While he portrays confidence, he is actually very self conscious. He is also uncomfortable in his skin, and he has a hard time accepting parts of himself. His problems with his inner self are a large part of why he is so quiet and guarded.

  Leo was born in Columbia. He had a very rough childhood there, one that he doesn’t share the details of with anyone. But it was all put behind him when he was 5 and adopted by an American couple, the Walkers. The transition to his new life in the US was difficult for Leo. At home, he had a hard time trusting and connecting with his new parents. And at school, his lack of English kept him from making friends.
  
  When he entered the eighth grade everything changed for Leo. He had a major growth spurt and found his natural talent in physical activities, sports to be specific. That coupled with his now strong English, he was launched from quiet loner to popular kid almost overnight. And while Leo wasn’t a big fan of the newfound attention he was getting, he liked having friends to hang out with.
  
  Sports became a large part of Leo’s life. They were an outlet for him to get out his emotional and mental conflict, and he enjoyed competing. He joined every sport he could in high school. That became his primary focus. Academically, he only did what he had to in order to keep his grades high enough to be an eligible athlete. Personally, he only hung out with his teammates when they really pushed it and he wasn’t a huge fan of parties. He didn’t really date either, his reason being that he was too busy and focused on training.
  
  Leo was offered a full ride scholarship by many different universities, for multiple sports. He decided to take one for wrestling that took him to school in California. His first few months at school went great. Leo loved the level of competition he was seeing in the wrestling room and he got along with his coaches and teammates. But all of that was ruined one night when he finally gave in and went to a fraternity party with his rommate. That was where the incident happened. An incident so big that it not only got him kicked out of school and ruined his athletic opportunities, but he also had to do 6 months in jail in California.
  
  Upon his release from jail, Leo returned home a different guy. He no longer had his athletic career to look forward to, he was angry with himself for ruining his future, and he struggled even more with his self identity. He started hanging out with some of his old high school friends and started partying with them, getting high and drunk almost every night. Those things replacing training as his new outlet.

  - The Walkers own a pair of laundromats on the Southside.
  
  -Since returning home, Leo has been managing one of the laundromats.
  
  - While Leo doesn't consider himself religous, the Walkers (including Leo) attend church every Sunday.

  Dominic is a very intense guy. He takes himself and everything he does very seriously. He believes in respect above all things. He is pretty quiet nowadays, spending a lot of time in his thoughts. His personality now is very different than before his father died. In high school, Dom was a fun loving and easy going guy. He almost alway wore a smile and was everyone's friend. He was caring and wore his heart on his sleeve. While he is still that guy, those characteristics are now hidden under years of resentment and pain. Everyone grieves in their own way right?!

  Dominic was born into your normal middle class family. His father, a second generation police officer and his mother, a loving homemaker. He also had a large extended family. His childhood was a normal one, he was an average student, he played little league, and hung out with the neighborhood kids. And while his parents weren’t rich by any means, he never wanted for anything and they never stressed about bills.
  
  In high school, Dom was on track to have a typical high school experience, that was until his whole world changed. One day during his junior year, when he and his mother were eating dinner waiting for his father to come home from work, there was a knock on the door. It was his father's lieutenant. As the man spoke, Dominic suddenly lost his sense of hearing as his mother fell crying into his arms. His father had been shot and killed during a routine traffic stop on the Southside. And just like that, Dom was different.
  
  He spent the next month and a half at home caring for his mother, who couldn’t bring herself to get out of bed. When Dom did return to school, everyone treated him differently and he couldn’t stand the pity, while at the same time he just wanted to be left alone. He stopped playing baseball, hanging out with his friends, and broke up with his girlfriend. He stopped caring about anything but his family. He spent his free time at home with his mom or visiting his other family members.
  
  After graduation, Dominic decided against college, choosing instead to work at his uncle's grocery store. While he was content just existing, his family was constantly trying to get him out of his funk and encourage him to live life to his potential. Dom ignored their attempts and had no plan to change until he ran into his father’s old partner. He hadn’t seen the man since his fathers funeral, but the man invited Dom for coffee and he obliged. That cup of coffee changed Dom’s life and not only gave him a fire for life, but also set him on a new path.
  
  Dominic signed up to join the police academy the next day. He went through the academy no problem and then took the necessary classes at the community college the next couple semesters. When he was sworn in as a police officer, it was the happiest day of his life. Not only was he following in his father’s footsteps, he was also looking forward to cleaning up the city...starting with the southside.

History: As one of the older O'Reily kids, Ryan ended up with alot on his shoulders as the kids just kept coming. Things were never easy on the southside, but the O'Reily family managed. Ryan wasn't the smartest person in his class, but ever since he was young, he figured out how to work with his hands and fix things. His temper got him into trouble alot, but thankfully he had his family to back him up (or slap some sense into him if he needed it). He was decent with the ladies, thankfully never ended up a dad though because he was smart about that. He does tend to go for the crazy ones though.

He ended up dropping out of high school to get a job to help make money for the family. He lied about his age and got a job at a mechanics shop, the same place he works at now. He spends his time usually there or at home, though he does like to go out when possible and spend time with his friends. He's got a bit of a chip on his back about providing for the family, and would protect any of them in any way that he could.

She is also a hopeless romantic and wants more than anything to find her prince charming. If she is not doing schoolwork or hanging with friends she can be found watching cheesy romantic comedies or lost in a Romance novel. At school, Elsie craves to be popular and tries her best to get in with the popular kids. She can be a little naive at times, so it’s a good thing her older brothers and sister always have her back.

He is this sweet, kind, and caring kid on the inside who wants to belong to a community. • Background: Richard comes from the cream of the crop: the owners of a non-profit on the Northside with wealth beyond the wildest dreams of electric sheep. His childhood was uneventful really except for parental neglect. They never cared for Richard. They made sure he did enough to not sully the family name, but they showed him no affection at all. He was isolated at home. To impress them, he became a strong student. They still didn't care when he came home with the straight-As or the admissions letters. Why the hell would that matter? It was a clean childhood from the outside, but a loss of community from the inside. My History

Nathan grew up as the 3rd oldest in the O'Reilly siblings. From a young age Nate was described as a polite,quiet child which was a change from his older brother Ryan. toddling along behind Jack and Ryan like their shadow, he was given the playful nickname of shadow. Going into school, Nate was a popular kid because of the natural charm and confidence he exuded. Between school and doing odd jobs around the neighbourhood, Nates younger years were happy despite how they lived.

Growing into his teens, Nathan noticed how the other guys in school and even his older brothers seemed to pay attention to girls which did nothing for him. It was boys he was noticing instead of girls, and he began to hate himself for being 'different'. This started bringing about a slow but noticeable change in Nathan. He became less of a popular kid and more of a kid to avoid, prone to bursts of temper he began losing friends as he hated himself and others for what he had perceived as something wrong with him.

History: Josie actually comes from a small, middle class town in the middle of Tennessee, where she lived with her family up until she was about eighteen.   zeke is a southside through and through. he was born and raised on the southside of chicago to a pair of loving parents who always taught him the importance of hard work. his mother was a middle school teacher and his father a construction worker. they managed to put food on the table and give him a pretty stable environment. all in all, regardless of the area he lived in, his life was relatively decent and it remained that way up until he was about fifteen.
  
  his mother had been on her way home from work when another car slammed into her own. she was gone before the ambulance ever arrive, not like they ever rushed to the aid of southsiders anyway. the driver of the other car made it out without a scratch. he was a younger man, maybe in his early twenties who had been too busy paying attention to his phone. it was a hit and run so zeke didn't even find this information out until much later though. it was hard on him but harder on his father who started to spiral in the midst of his grief. missing work, drinking more, and spending his money on gambling rather than the bills.
  
  that's when zeke got a job at some fast-food place to help around the house. it wasn't nearly enough but it was something. too bad his father's drinking use caught up with him and just a little under two years after his mother's death, his father followed. since he was only seventeen the state attempted to put him into foster care which he ran away from. he dodged them and started to couch surf at friend's houses, selling drugs to make it as he did.
  
  just a couple months before zeke's 18th birthday he was initiated into a local gang that he'd been running drugs for. it was there that he felt a sense of family and like he actually belonged somewhere again. with their help, and his own hustling mindset, he managed to get his own apartment in the southside. although he's a part of the gang he still has to prove himself in many ways, especially to the gang's leader. it's only been six months after all and respect is earned, right?

  katherine davis was born on a hot june day to a young couple. as a child she believed they were a happy little family but around age thirteen she quickly got a slap in the face that she was far from prepared for. her father had been having an affair for years and finally decided he was going to leave them behind for the other woman. so he did. he took off and from what she heard, many years later, he started a family with the witch.
  
  a couple of years after her father left they lost the house. her mother had tried her hardest, juggling multiple jobs to try and keep up with the bills but it wasn't enough. they ended up living in a homeless shelter for a few months before finally moving into the apartment building near the o'reilly residence. around the same time, kat met an older guy named jacob. she was fifteen and he was two years older so the fact that he was interested in her alone had her hooked.
  
  he took her shopping, bought her booze and drugs, whatever she wanted. she had never had anyone spend money on her and it was flattering, to say the least. she never questioned where he got his money or why he'd chosen her, she didn't want to. about six months into the relationship his true colors started to show. he became even more controlling than he had been before, telling her what she couldn't wear and who she couldn't talk to. this eventually escalated to the physical abuse though and she felt trapped, remaining with him another six months.
  
  one day during another one of his beatings a friend of hers, ryan o'reilly, had been in the apartment and heard the noise. anyone else might've walked away but he knew it was kat's apartment and broke the door down to help her. kat credits him with helping her get out of the toxic union that day. without his help, she probably would've continued on with jacob even longer and endure who knows what else.
  
  in the year that followed, kat spiraled a little. partying and doing/selling whatever drugs she could get her hands on. she didn't care about any consequences and her actions landed her in juvie a few times before the age of eighteen. once for assault, another for public intoxication and twice for possession. her mother hadn't been blind to her actions. she'd been dating some hotshot from the northside who managed to get kat out everytime she ended up in the slammer.
  
  a year into them dating her mother announced they were getting married. kat tried to protest the union but it was no use, her mother uprooted her from the southside to the northside. the first year was the worst, her mother banning her from the southside and forcing her to attend all the fancy shit northsiders did. she even had to spend a very shitty eighteenth birthday with them. the only decent part was she'd met a guy who she had some fun with. unfortunately, at the first sign of seriousness she'd shut that down too.

Background: Winona spent her entire adolescent life in the Eastside neighborhood of Chicago, having a pretty normal life with her two parents, Daniel and Regina, and younger siblings, Chance and Isaiah, for a majority of it. It was Daniel who introduced art to Winona and implanted a heavily rooted love for it. When she was 13, Winnie and her father were involved in a car accident, she survived but her father didn't. Although she does not have the best relationship with her mother, she mainly moves back for her two younger siblings and to avoid the controlling ex in Colorado. The huge change in her life was a little disruptive for her plans, but she still finds a way to strive. She applied to University of Chicago and was accepted, she is ready to participate in volleyball and track again. Background: Chance doesn't know any other home outside of the Eastside neighborhood of Chicago. He grew up with his parents Regina and Daniel, his older sister Winona, and younger brother Isaiah.
