Multiple Settings The Sound Of Breaking Glass

The sound of breaking glass stops you. You freeze in the hallway. Someone else is here. Someone else is here. Someone else is here. No one else was supposed to be here, only you. But someone else is, and there's no where for you to go.

A) Hide in the nearest closet

B) Run and jump out the back window

Not the best idea, but one of the better ones considering your situation. You run down the hallway, and quietly as possible, and tuck behind the fur coats inside. You slide the door shut, and crouch down. You hear feet pounding by. "She's here, I know it! She must be hiding, look everywhere."

"I'll circle back, you keep looking. Can't let a street rat get our loot before us!" One set of feet continue down the hallway and turn, getting fainter and fainter, while the other gets loud. It walks past your door and stops at the end of the hallway. You hear a door creak open, and the man look inside. He moves to the next door, two down from where you are, and pulls it open. You know he is going to find you. You figure you have a better chance running than you have staying put, so you creep over to the door, and push it open a bit. When you look out, you see the man is only one door away from you. You have to jump out the back window. You wish this wasn't the only option, given your bare arms and half naked legs, but they will look anywhere you might hide. So, you run down the hallway as quietly possible, and try the window. It won't budge. Must be stuck shut by paint, or something. So, you turn and walk down the hallway a ways, and then run. You hit the glass and then the ground hard, and can't even move as you hear the men running. As they look down at you, one speaks. "There she is! I told you she was here. I told you. I told yo. I told y. I tol. I to. I t. I." His voice fades away as you open your eyes. Your arms and legs still burn, but no visible marks mar them. You are sweating, but relieved that it was just a dream. Still, this is a bad omen, especially for today. You are nervous already. Why is that?

A) I have an important job to do.

B) I'm meeting someone I'm not supposed to meet.

C) I'm going a place I'm not supposed to go.

Yes, yes you do. In fact, almost the same job you had the dream about. Your employer assured you there would be no one there, and there is quite an incentive if you do the job right. It fairly easy too, just a quick in, grab, and out. But, if something were to go wrong, if someone was there, your life could be in jeopardy. Will you still do it?

A) Yeah, of course. There's no choice anything could go wrong.

B) No, I don't feel like dying today.

Chickening out? Alright, feel free to tell your employer that. I'm sure he'll be delighted. Want to reconsider?

A) Yes, I'll do it.

B) No, nope, nein, no way.

Good choice. Do you know where you're going?

A) Yes

B) No

(Sorry about the short post, I had this story partially pre written, and some of the sections are going to be only one or two sentences long)

You pack up your materials, then head off towards the wharf. Everything going according to plan until you reach Main Street. You are almost to the warehouse when a man in a long, ragged coat with frayed edges steps in front of you. What do you do?

A) Outmaneuver him.

B) Run and hide.

C) Fight.

You aren't fast, and you aren't strong. It's time to duck and weave. The man reaches out to you, but you duck to the side, just out of his reach, and run into the crowd. You run into the warehouse when you encounter another man in the same coat. You swing at him, but when you hit him, instead of the sharp pain of fist connecting with jawbone, you feel nothing. And the man turns to dust and his coat drops to the floor. Several other men emerge from the shadows of the warehouse and circle you. You pull the bo staff your employer supplied you out of your bag and hold it out. You spin in a circle, the staff hitting each of them in the stomach on the way around. Not the most elegant fighting style, but it works. There is man-dust all around you when you run up the stairs.

What the hell have you gotten yourself into?

A) I don't know, but I gotta get out of here.

B) I'll still complete the job. I do need the money.

Money is money...and it's especially money when it's hard to come by. So, you need to complete the job. You pause on the top step to evaluate your surroundings. Ahead of you is a large closet with dark wooden doors and silver handles. You step up and look down the hall. There is a window about 25 or 30 feet down from you. It's not broken. Not yet, at least. There are also three other doors. One is bright green, with golden handles. It is also large. One is grey and small. It's handles are small knobs made of wood, and if you want to go through it, you'll have to crawl. The third is pure white, with some black words painted in an ancient language on the top. There are also some more letters running down the middle of the door, but they glow a faint purple. Which door do you want to go through?

A) Dark wood, silver handles

B) Bright green, golden handles

C) Tiny grey, grey handles

D) White, weird words and runes
