was magic more common in the first age? I mean after Brigid discovered it obviously. It would explain the variety of transport spells. Taking a Crrus Skiff to work and back would be fun

Er... Well, that's the whole point of the thing. Yes, it was more common. There were more Essence users (many more), more sorcery academies (many more too), less social censure, even more mortals with potential to learn it someday.
