  Anyone who has met Andrea will say that she's sweet as pie. Which is true -- she's a kind girl, always one to keep the mood light and lift others up. She's playful, quirky, artsy, outgoing, and loves to have fun dressing up and going to parties. But what most people don't realize is that Andrea would rather stay home reading or practicing fun makeup looks than going out every night. She's an introvert in her soul, no matter how fun partying can be.
  
  The other thing that those who know her don't quite realize, and that she doesn't even quite know herself, is that she's a bit spoiled. Yeah, she's had struggles, and she can't always do what she wants (who can?) but, being a Two her entire life has shielded her from the harsh realities of the other castes. Being the daughter of a politician, Andrea has heard a lot about what needs to be changed in the world... but the castes were never a topic of interest. Like many in her caste, she's ignorant to just how bad it is out there, though she is constantly reminded of how good she has it.
  
  Her hobbies outside of modeling include gardening, horseback riding, reading, creating fun makeup looks... but, they're mostly things she does all on her own. Yeah, she goes to parties (and has a lot of fun at them, don't get her wrong) but... she's missing true connections with others, and it's made her lonely. So, she hopes to bond with the Prince, and she wants more than anything in her Selection journey to get to know the true him.

  Biography:
  
  When she was fourteen, Andrea got into modeling.
  
  Her mother had always wanted to be a model, but had never been much good at it. She had a pretty face, the photographers said, but her posing was just too stiff. Her acting, though, had always been good. At least, Andrea had thought so. When her mother caught her doing poses in the mirror, something clicked, and the very next day, they were going to sign up with a modeling agency. Andrea was on the cover of a magazine within a month.
  
  At first, she didn't like it much, though she did love getting to dress up in all the latest fashions. That's what really sold it for her, in the end. She was told a lot that every other girl her age would kill to be in her position, but she didn't really see why. Modeling was fun sometimes, but mostly it was a lot of waiting -- waiting for her hair and makeup to be done, waiting for the photographers to set up, waiting for the director to decide her poses. Still, she grew to enjoy it. It wasn't like she had anything riding on it, after all -- she'd been a Two her entire life. The success of her career as a model wouldn't change that.
  
  As Andrea grew older, she came to understand the scene more, and was able to make connections she never would have before. Her life quickly became more glamorous than she'd ever wanted it to, full of gigs and parties and cute boys and girls wanting to hook up with her. She didn't usually say yes... but there were exceptions.
  
  The best part, though, besides the dressing up and the changes to her life, was that she was able to use her extra money to invest into whatever she wanted to. A portion of it went to her mother (who was owed some since she'd been the one to push Andrea into modeling in the first place), but the majority of it she was able to spend on herself. Yes, a lot was spent on clothes, and a lot on books, too, but her real passion wasn't modeling at all...
  
  Her mother insisted she didn't need to garden -- they had people hired to do that for them -- but she'd always loved it. Yeah, it wasn't proper for a young woman to be playing in the dirt, but she loved the feeling of connecting with the Earth like that, taking care of each and every plant, and arranging her plants in ways that made them pop. And horseback riding was just the same -- she loved the feeling of the wind in her hair, the sun on her skin, the way she became one with her horse as she guided him along forest paths and across bubbling brooks.
  
  To her, those things were magical. And though she made her money by modeling, she'd garden and ride her horse all day long if she could.
  
  Plus, she knew modeling wouldn't last her forever. Even though she's only eighteen, she knew she was reaching the age soon where she just wouldn't be 'appealing' anymore. It would be years, yes, but she knew that could go by in a heartbeat if she didn't savor it. And what would she do, then? She couldn't make a living by gardening... at least, not if she wanted to stay a Two. And horseback riding wasn't exactly a job, either. So... should she be a housewife? Start a family of her own? That, of course, presented a different problem...
  
  Andrea, as famous and popular in the modeling world as she was, had no real friends. Yeah, there were models her age who she hung out with from time to time. And yeah, there were people who absolutely adored her who she'd never even met. But friends? She'd never had one in her life. Nobody had ever taken the time to look past her caste, to look past her job, and to see the person she was inside, and truly want to get to know her better. And that's exactly the reason she applied for the Selection.
  
  She figured if she, a Two, felt isolated in part due to her fame, then the Prince must feel the same in some aspect. She couldn't image him having many friends who weren't with him only because he was royalty. So, she hoped that maybe, if by some chance she got chosen for the Selection, they could bond over that. She knew there'd be many people who'd be intimidated by his status, and that would probably cause them to be anxious, but she knew better than anyone that their castes were just titles. Underneath that, they were just people... and she wanted to get to know the person under the crown. She hoped he'd want to get to know her, too.

  Mark Harris - Father - 52
  Mark is a well-known and respected politician, representing Angeles in various ways since Andrea was born. His current job is very high up in the ranks, though his aspiration has always been to sit by the King's side. With his connections and the support of his family, he believes it's just a matter of time before that happens. He wasn't always a Two, but his father was an architect who became very famous for his work, elevating the entire family to Twos. When he met Vivian, he didn't have to worry about lowering her status, and took the opportunity to raise a family with a wealthy actress right away.
  
  He is a stern man, rarely seeing his family but trusting it to be perfect when he does. He expects everything in his life to be perfect, actually, and though his career has seen some kinks, his family life has remained stable. He's charming and a good speaker, making him one hell of a politician, but as a father he's always been pretty disconnected and only makes sure to maintain his authority over the household instead of helping raise his daughter.
  
  Vivian Harris - Mother - 40
  Vivian has been a Two since her big break as a teenager when she played the best friend character "Sophia" in the widely-known television show, Angeles. Her life changed in an instant as she skyrocketed to fame and fortune, and she's never once looked back. Those who know her will tell you she's kind -- she donates to charities for Eights, after all -- but if you ask her employees, it's an entirely different story. Vivian is obsessed with wealth, always trying to keep her family's status important and current, and she'll do anything to keep their fame. Though her acting career has slowed down as she's grown older, her roles now mostly loving mothers and influential teachers, she keeps up with the world of art through being a patron for various paintings, sculptures, and music to be exhibited in her house. (Of course, she only employs Twos for such things... what use is art if it's not by someone famous?)
  
  As a mother, Vivian has always been pretty "hands-off". She employs the help to do pretty much everything, from maintaining the garden to teaching her daughter the alphabet. Of course, she sees her daughter during meals and they do activities together from time to time, but she's far too busy to actually raise her. As her daughter got older, however, she became more involved, encouraging her to pursue modeling and taking a portion of her checks because of her involvement. She does love her daughter, that much is obvious, but it's also obvious that she could be far more involved.
  
  As for her relationship with Mark, it's seen better days. With the two of them so busy all of the time, she will do anything to get (and keep) his attention. Still, they are loyal to each other and definitely look like the perfect couple to everyone else.
  
  Marta Cañero - Nanny - 42
  Marta raised Andrea, to put it simply. She fed and weaned her as a baby, taught her to speak and walk (though of course she let Vivian think her first word had been "mama", which they had practiced, and not "hola", which would have been far less impressive to the woman), and gave her the skills to succeed in life, always telling her to be kind and thoughtful, which she was, but then of course, she was still a Two. Marta and Andrea have always been close, though Andrea feels Marta is more of an aunt to her than a mother, despite all the mothering she's done.

  Let's get one thing straight: Alex isn't a douche.
  
  Yeah, he may like to joke around a bit too much sometimes, and he complains about everything that annoys him, but really, he's not a bad guy. He works hard, he's always willing to help his friends and neighbors when they've taken on too much to handle alone, and he's passionate about his work. Music is his life (literally, since he's a Five), and he puts everything he has into his songs.
  
  Well, okay... that's not completely true. He doesn't put his true feelings in. Because, see, people like love songs. And Alex... well, he's never been in love.
  
  Besides, putting his soul into his music is too personal. Anything like that... he wouldn't be able to share it. And what's the point of music if he can't use it to pay the bills?
  
  Anyways, most people who meet Alex will immediately see that he loves his family more than anything. They're tight-knit, which is really the only way to survive in the lower castes. He's a caring older brother, willing to do anything for his sisters, though he might not admit it. With friends, he's just a regular, chill guy, doing stupid things and usually getting scolded for it. (Nothing too crazy, of course... nothing that would actually get him in trouble.)

  When Alex's mother died, he thought his life was over.
  
  He'd been nine at the time. His baby sister had just been born. None of them had known how to raise her without their mother. None of them knew how to do anything without her.
  
  Still, they'd learned to live. Their father got another job. Alex started helping out more at home, learning how to cook and clean and do everything he had to to take care of his younger sisters. He played songs when they were sad and he cleaned their cuts when they got hurt. When he got old enough, he started booking events on his own, earning money from his music and even playing in the square of his town, where the richer people would often tip him enough to make a difference.
  
  Taking on so much responsibility, however, was impossibly difficult for him. So, when he wasn't working, writing songs, or watching his sisters, he was out with friends, doing things they weren't supposed to and trying to have as much fun as they could while they escaped from their lives. It was around that time when he realized he was gay... but he didn't tell anyone. At least, not until he broke down one night and confessed it to his sister, Natasha. She was more supportive than he ever would have dreamed, and with her support, he came out to the entire family.
  
  Still, he never dated anyone. For most of his life, that was illegal, anyways. And he'd rarely had crushes, mostly just random thoughts about one of his friends or actors he watched often on TV. Though, he had always found the Prince pretty attractive.
  
  Imagine his surprise when he found out the Prince liked men, too. And that they were going to be allowed in the Selection. That gave him the courage to come out to his friends, who insisted he should apply. Thinking he couldn't pass up a chance to a. get money from the Selection and b. get laid (by the Prince, no less), he sent in an application, not taking it too seriously.
  
  And then... he was chosen. He, Alex Sterling, is going to be in the Selection.
  
  He's decided not to take it too seriously. He's not looking to fall in love or anything, and he's sure the Prince would never fall for someone like him. But, he's going to try to stay at least long enough to get some money out of it, since leaving means his family won't get the money he brings in from performing. Who knows, he might get some good songs out of it...
  
  (Or, maybe, just maybe, he'll fall in love for the first time, and write a song with his heart.)

  Sarah Sterling - Mother - Deceased
  Sarah, when she was alive, was the rock their family all relied on. She took care of the children, she cooked, she cleaned, she worked nights... she did absolutely everything she could to help their family survive. She was a kind and gentle soul, someone who always believed in helping others even when it came at her own expense. She was the epitome of motherhood, seen as a parental figure to many children in their community.
  
  Mark Sterling - Father - 42
  Mark has seen better days.
  
  Of course, so many years after his wife's passing, he has moved on, for the most part, but there are still days where the past haunts him, and every day presents new challenges as he struggles to keep their family safe. Luckily, with Alex working, the stress isn't solely on him anymore. Still, it's hard for him, not being able to see his family often due to his working all the time.
  
  Still, things have gotten better in recent years. In the community, Mark is known as the "helper", the reliable guy you can always call upon if you need help. He's helped countless families from going into debt (or worse), and is always one to try and improve life for everyone around him. That part of him has always existed, but after Sarah's death, it's come out tenfold.
  
  As a father, Mark has always done his best, instilling his moral values on his children and teaching them the importance of hard work. He loves all of his children equally, though he sometimes wishes Alex didn't rebel so much, and he has always treated them not as tiny, helpless children, but as equals.
  
  He never suspected Alex's secret, though looking back he supposes he should have. He's very accepting of it and hopes his son can live happily, whether that be with the Prince or otherwise.
  
  Natasha Sterling - Sister - 14
  Though Natasha can be found almost constantly arguing with Alex, she does love him. When she was young, all she wanted to do was to be Alex's equal, but he always seemed to like his friends more than her. So now, as she's trying to be her own person, she finds him... quite the bother. Still, she's always loved him with all her heart, and when he told her that he was gay, she knew exactly how to support him.
  
  She is kind at heart, but easily annoyed and carries far too much responsibility on her young shoulders. She is a talented artist and hopes to become a very successful painter someday, but in her heart she's always wanted to be an architect. Still, painting gorgeous buildings is about the same as designing them, right?
  
  She remembers her mother, but not much of what she was like. To her, it was her father who raised her, and it was Alex who annoyed her to death with all his smothering.
  
  Anna Sterling - Sister - 10
  Anna is the sweetest little girl you'll ever meet -- or at least, the sweetest one in Alex's opinion. She's as helpful as a ten-year-old can be and wants to be a dancer when she grows up. Currently, though, her main goal is to be just like Alex, which means she follows him around whenever he's home and is very easily impressionable (and will definitely say some words she's not supposed to after being around him for too long.)
  
  Really, to Anna, she was raised by Alex. Of course, her dad raised her, too, but he was always working and Alex... Alex was the one to tuck her in at night, to maker her lunch, to hug her when she was sad. Because of this, she and Alex have a great relationship that's full of love and support.
  
  She's super excited for Alex to go to the Palace, and wants him to send back an autograph from the Prince. (Or, better yet, bring back the Prince himself!) She's jealous that he gets to go instead of her, but is rooting for him all the same.

  Many words have been used to describe Kate Roberts. Cunning. Calculating. Cold. (Lots of C words, apparently.) And yes, it's true. She's a cutthroat boss bitch, through and through. She's not afraid to be selfish, especially when it comes to bettering her career, and she'll do anything to get a story.
  
  Sure, not everyone likes her. But that's just part of the industry. The best reporters are the ones who are feared and gossiped about, because they're the ones who you'll know will deliver the best news and drama. Besides, what is there to gossip about with Kate? She's carefully planned out her life and avoided any rash decisions that might lead to a scandal. (Of course, not everyone in her life has avoided being so careless... )
  
  All in all, Kate isn't someone you want to mess with. Yet, if you get close (and that means really close), you might find that there's more to her than what she shows to the world. There's a sense of humor in there somewhere -- that's something most people can pick up on, even if they can't quite figure out what exactly it is she finds funny. She also does have the capacity to care for others, despite rumors saying she can't. It's just that she seems to pick those people very, very carefully. And, if one looks deep, deep down... they might find that she's lonely.
  
  Of course, she'd never let anyone see that. Besides, her feelings don't matter. Especially not when she's working.

  Raised as a Three, Kate always knew she was going to grow up to write. And once she realized her love for gossip, she knew reporting was how she was going to do it. Her childhood was filled with magazine clippings on her walls and pretend interviews with her stuffed animals, all in preparation for her dream career. She was always told how lucky she was to be a Three -- not everyone got to follow their dreams so easily.
  
  Despite the odds stacked in her favor, things weren't all sunshine and rainbows. Her intense personality kept her from making many friends, and her family wasn't much better. Her father taught her to be bold, to never take no for an answer. Her mother, on the other hand, told her to use her attributes as a woman to get what she wanted in life. Apparently, her mother took her own advice a little too well, because when Kate was fifteen, her mother had an affair.
  
  Nobody found out. Nobody could find out. Her father's career was too important to be ruined by such a thing, and Kate's future needed to be looked out for. Most importantly, they all knew they'd be lowered castes to Sevens or worse... they couldn't let that happen. So, her mother broke off the relationship, and they managed to use their influence to keep things quiet.
  
  Still, it haunted Kate as she entered her first internship. She worried every day that the secret would come out, that rumors spreading would now be hers, and her life, her job, her dreams... they'd all be over. And yet, she managed to climb the ladder with few obstacles, and when she landed a job at The Daily Illéa, she was ecstatic. Still, she knew she had to be more careful than ever.
  
  All it would take was one slip-up, and everything would crumble.

  Davis has always been the parent who Kate is closest to, but that doesn't mean he isn't strict. He sees value in hard lessons and even harder work, no matter one's role in life. He is a strong supporter of the Royal Family and shows this through his work as a lawyer when he defends Illéa's laws. At home, he is often busy, but still makes time for his family. Though, after the affair, he's spent less and less time with Amelia outside of the home.
  
  Amelia Roberts - Mother - 52
  Looking back, it's easy to see where things went wrong for Amelia. She'd been a Four when she'd met Davis, but her charms had quickly convinced him to marry her before anyone else could get the chance to. They'd rushed into things, what with having their daughter at 21 and buying a house they could barely afford. Still, they'd managed to make things work. She instilled in Kate manners and the secrets to a successful life as a woman -- using her sweetness and flirting was the only real way to rise up.
  
  She'd been more occupied with herself, though, than with raising her daughter, and eventually, she'd found she just didn't care for Davis anymore. Maybe it was because his career forced him to work all the time, even when he was supposed to be spending quality time with her. Maybe it was simply because she'd fallen out of love... if, that is, she'd even been in love in the first place. In any case, things had gotten boring, and when she got the chance to spend time with someone who truly seemed to care... well, the affair wasn't a surprise to anyone.
  
  Now, after the secret has been revealed to her husband and daughter, and her senses have come back to her, she's doing her best to support her family in their careers, hoping that her mistake won't catch up to her and ruin things for them all.

Personality:
Andromeda, despite her pretty face and somewhat enamoring smile, is never what people think she is; competitive and moody, she tends to dwell in the shadows, carefully studying the competition from afar without the need to actually come in contact with the individual. Her observant nature aids her in spy work as well as her occupation; hacking. She can easily spot weaknesses and vulnerabilities and is clever enough to know when to and when not to exploit such weaknesses in her favor. One could say that her secluded nature is fueled by her pessimistic and apathetic personality.

As an individual who was never encouraged to have friends, she tends to be extremely blunt and cares very little about how her words affect the other party’s feelings. But, despite her efforts to push people away, Andromeda has picked up a few friends along the way, though her lack of social practice has resulted in her inability to properly socialize with those around her. It’s most likely for this reason that she doesn’t socialize as well, as she is terrified of embarrassment and losing her dignity.
Andromeda also harbors an extreme hatred towards the royal family, though she doesn’t understand exactly why. A feeling instilled in her by her parents, Andromeda is someone who is secretly very confused about her family, their beliefs and how she herself wants to live her life: as the slave to a preset destiny or as a free bird, flying in her own sky.

Biography:

Andromeda Dioses was born into a family of Southern Rebels. Her mother, Lucia, and her father, Emmanuel, were extreme activists in the group, each holding high positions in the rebel party and leading many of the few, yet lethal attacks on Illéa. Her elder siblings, fraternal twins, were also heavily involved in the cause. Interestingly, Andromeda looked more like her older brother than his twin sister ever did, some even mistaking them for the same people accidentally. Raised with the idea that Illéa was led by bloodthirsty and cruel rulers who cared nothing for their people, Andromeda was indoctrinated with an extreme hatred for the ruling family of Illéa.

She grew up in a cruel and competitive environment, pushed constantly by her family to do better though she was always branded as the useless child who could never achieve what her parents wanted. This constant need to please her parents encouraged a rather cunning and competitive side turning her into a reserved and despicable creature of competition. It was through this that she developed her keen ability to observe and exploit, though it heavily destroyed any ability she had to create meaningful relationships with other people. She found a bit of peace from this crushingly competitive environment of her home in programming. It gave her joy to create things for herself, not to win or to prove to her parents that she was good enough, just something for herself. The small, cheerful and giddy little girl that was buried deep inside of her thrived when she coded, squealing in delight whenever she accomplished something.

Soon, she graduated out of college, a professional programmer ready to take on the world when her parents presented her with a job: hacking. Her skills had proven her to finally be a useful asset to her parents, who put her to use hacking into governmental files and military weapon designs that were kept top secret. Her future remained set, unchangeable until her brother died in a suicide bombing. After a speedy funeral, it was revealed to Andromeda that her brother Apollo was supposed to enter into the palace as a Valet, acting as a spy; his forms had been submitted already and it was too good of an opportunity to miss. Her parents decided to send Andromeda in his place; she already looked like him, all she would have to do was dress as a man and act the part. As always, Andromeda accepted, glad that she could finally please her ever-disappointed parents. Now she prepares to enter the palace as a boy, not only as a spy but as an assassin as well.

Sharik is a bit of a drama queen, to put it mildly, though she’s far from obnoxious. An optimist and a social butterfly, she’s normally seen with a large smile on her face, a friend on her arm and caught up in a conversation which tends to involve her chatting away excitedly while the other person either silently listens or shouts back in a similar fashion as well. She’s a very curious individual, which aids her in her field of work and though she’s never afraid to be too nosy, she sometimes doesn’t quite understand the limits of personal space. A bit of a blabbermouth, Sharik’s mouth tends to talk faster than her mind can think and she ends up saying things she doesn’t mean. Besides her exploding personality, Sharik can be very serious when she does her work. A bit of a perfectionist, when she throws herself into her work, no one can pull her out until she’s done. Despite this quality, she’s a very disorganized person and tends to dwell in a...ahem…”organized” chaos.

Despite her positive attitude, Sharik is easy to rile. Though she never stays angry for very long, nor can she hold a grudge, she tends to throw a bit of fire when she does get angry. So watch out, or you might get burned. Friend-wise, Sharik will always be there. Loyal to the core, she loves her friends, though she tends to allow her life to revolve around them.

Biography:

Sharik has always lived a normal life. Well at least for someone whose Caste is 3. Born and raised under the careful guidance of her parents, Sharik was always held to high standards, especially since her brother was a high achiever. Living in his shadow, Sharik constantly sought to outstand the standards he had set; to be her own person, not just Cato’s little sister. That’s probably how she ended up here, writing for The Daily Illéa. She liked to write, yes, but Sharik wanted to tell the real stories, not the stories to cover up problems, or the ones used for propaganda and promotion, the real stories. She not only wanted to stand out, bright against her brother’s shadow but to bring light to the darkness around the Caste’s and the royals themselves. But instead, she got placed in the gossip section of the paper. Now she has to report on the selecteds and watch as their destinies unfold within the palace walls.

Personality: Zero has lived a harsh life full of hurt and disappointment. Despite this, they can be quite witty and outspoken to people who don't know them very well. As a sort of shell, they can perform a staged charisma which protects them from the expectations that most nobles have that Northern Rebels are anti-social and non-conformist. It's a struggle everyday to smile at the people who have made your life a living hell, but Zero has trained their whole life for this very act. Now that the Selection is actually happened, the tension is building. Zero's life and lives of those they care for hang in the balance. It's a desperate time, and they will do anything to see the Northern Rebels succeed, no matter what sort of backstabbing need be done.
On the inside Zero is legitimately quite apathetic to the cares and struggles of those around them. They don't actively seek to see others suffer or to play with people's hearts, but Zero has a small family, a support group which means so much more to them than some strangers in a far away castle. If it came to a choice between saving all the people in Illea or saving their mother and older brother, then they would always choose the latter.

Backstory : Zero has been a Northern rebel for as long as they can remember and longer. Whatever their original name had been, if they ever even really had one, has long since been forgotten.
Around 22 years ago, in the Northern lands of Illéa, a young child was born to a single mother in the 8th caste, the very lowest caste. Due to a mental illness, she was isolated from more 'proper' people, treated like a criminal, and made destitute, starving while freezing in the never ending winter. It came to the point where she could no longer even feed her child, and in an act of desperation, she sold it to the Northern Rebels in return for a week's worth of food for herself. Thus Zero was given their name in reference to starting with nothing and to the destiny that they were given for simply having been born in the 8th caste. The Northern Rebels raised them while training them in combat arts, infiltration tactics, and courtly manners. More specifically, they did so because they knew a selection would soon be coming and that they would need an inside person who could cause the chaos necessary to start the revolution.
The Norther Rebels do this for every selection, though, and it has yet to work. This time we will see if the results are any different.

Personality: There is a trope among artists that consists they will never be fully happy with their own work no matter how good it is or how much acclaim they receive for it. Though Xerina has yet to cut her ear off, this trope very much befits her. She's a bit of a philosopher, constantly considering ideas that never get to seek fruition or exploration. The world is art, and unless she is creating, she never feels truly fulfilled.
Xerina loves people. She loves meeting people and getting to know them. She can be a bit shy at first, but once you get her talking it's hard to make her stop. Enthusiastic for life and nature, the socially-constructed mannerisms of the court have never fit well with her despite her best efforts. Long flowy dresses, make-up, and courtly proprieties have always looked like a sham when she was wearing them. Despite her desire to be here and to see what the castle has to offer her creatively... well, the path to true art is always full of thorns and pitfalls. Though it may be a painful experience for her here in court, she wants to learn as much as she can and make as many new friends as possible before being shuffled out the door. After all, someone from the 5th caste would never actually be picked by a prince of Illea and especially not someone like her...

General Backstory : Xerina was born to a middling family somewhere between the 5th and 4th caste in their stature. Her mother, Alana Smith, and her father, William Smith, had a total of seven children, of which Xerina is the 4th child, the middle child, the overlooked child. Perhaps because of this... unrequited feeling of separation between herself and her family unit, she began to grow into the arts, adopting creative expression in its many forms as her new family, a self-made family. Somehow this attracted attention, and at the age of 18 Xerina was suddenly famous, drawing crowds of wonder-struck onlookers to her gallery openings and events. The paintings that she was making began to sell for fortunes worth of money. The songs she was writing began to play in the courts of nobles. Despite her lower caste, she was invited to the selection and made unable to refuse.
Most of Xerina's paintings depict a darker version of humanity, playing to the concept of emotional numbness as a commentary on the grandiose of the monarchy in Illéa. She's not a rebellious person by nature and despises conflict, but her philosophies for what Illéa should be and what it is at times come to blows.

The Alderidge family is well known for its dealing with the mining, production, trading, exploration, and retailing of precious gemstones. While the family does provide gemstones for jewelry stores, they have their own stores scattered around the world. Giselle’s life was one of luxury and comfort, she wanted for nothing and was given the best that life had to offer. She was given the best tutors up until she could attend regular school, lessons on etiquette and things like dancing. horseback riding and languages. Her parents cared for her as best they could. But with their careers it was hard to care for a child. Her father had the responsibility of managing a billion dollar company. Like her father, her mother from comes from old money. She worked as a model and actress in her prime before retiring and becoming a fashion mogul

Personality: she has been raised in the castle, raised under the protection of her older siblings and the doting love of cameras and the whole of the nation. she's everyone in Illea's little sister, to a point. she's always been known as the sweet, loving, supportive, but quiet child. she's exactly what every princess is supposed to be. she doesn't get in her older sibling's way, nor pine for her parent's attention. even if she yearns it, she knows she's not the focus of the family. but that doesn't mean she doesn't love the family. you better believe she's got her eyes on the selected, hoping to make a friend out of her new sister or bother. gain her affections and she'll help you with your studies and etiquette lessons. dismiss her, or be rude to her? she's going straight to her brother to go lick her wounds. yeah... she might be a little bit of a tattletale... but come on. how else is the baby of the family supposed to help?

Biography: Emmy is the youngest child of the royal family of Illea. she was raised in the palace on a steady dose of tea parties, finishing courses, and the brightest tutors the country had to offer. Her father was busy with his work, which Em understood. or tried to. truth be told, she wanted her father's attention the way he seemed attentive to the child who was set to inherit the throne. but she said nothing. she smiled and stuck close to the parent that did pay attention to her, working hard to make her mother proud. she studied hard with her tutors, but worked even harder at her poise and ettiquite. she was able to balance six whole books on her head while she walked in as many years. in fact, she made that a game for herself. however old she was, she wanted to try and be able to balance that many books. it got a little hard after nine, but there is video proof of her with 14 books this year. even if they are slim, she got there.
in fact, this is just one of the things the public has always loved about little Emilie. she works to be poised, but she isn't made of stone. she's naturally charming, and does little things that have always endeared her to interviewers and visitors to the castle. she'll grant permission to touch the candy bowl, braid her hair... whatever. she actually quite likes the press's attention on her. she has her siblings, and her mother, but they all live such important lives. the press all want to sit down and talk about whatever she wants to, she loves it. she's always willing to take interviews, which in turn helps keep the palace's public relations high. and that was how she found her place in the family: being the girl who's videos of room-decorations and harp playing along with bad puns helped with the kingdom's love of her family. she loves helping her ever-important family. she loves them, she wants to make their lives easier. she's not a problem. she never will be.
and as for the selection? she thinks of the whole idea of the selection as terribly romantic. she's been excited for her brother's selection for years. now it's here, and she's determined to be of use.

at the age of sixteen, alyssa knew lewis had fallen in love. he started to distance himself from her, spending more and more time away. alyssa’s mother did nothing about it, and aunt agatha said to trust the boy’s heart, but alyssa herself couldn’t let it go. she tried to meddle in her brother’s life. although she had the best intentions, she ended up fighting with lewis’ lover, causing a wedge between the couple. after the fact, lewis refused to speak to her. to this day, he’s yet to say a word. alyssa takes comfort in the fact that he no longer looks totally pissed when around her.

with her skills as a housemaid well-recognized by wealthier families, she was lucky to be offered a spot as a maid for this selection. ecstatic, alyssa swore she wouldn’t ruin this opportunity. she plans to keep her mouth shut and obey all orders, for the sake of honoring her family. with her luck, however, and her constant (although usually hidden) emotional outbursts, it’s quite possible that things won’t work out her way.

Coming from a lineage of Doctors, Rosa always had the pressure and high expectations to follow through with what her family had planned out. Both her father and mother were strict on her about her studies, the rarely ever let her have time to be with her friends and to socialize. They would constantly hold it over Rosalina's head that she needs to uphold their caste status because everyone looks up to them for answers and for help; it is an honor that they have such high use to the society so they should not take that for granted. She believed that her parents did not have ill will for planning out her every move, so she simply went along with it and did not complain. However, things did become stressful when her intelligence were not matching up to their expectations because her parents would take disciplinary measures. Certain actions had caused Rosalina to have knee-jerk reactions to specific scenarios, but she cannot pin point what exactly triggers her reactions, after all her parents would claim they do this because they "love her".

Since the day that Rosalina turned 16 years old, her mother was constantly reminding her that she would one day be the lucky girl to participate in The Selection process, in which she could truly make her parents proud and happy. To be affiliated with the Royal family and eventually be converted to a Caste One is the ultimate goal they had for Rosalina, so they did all they could to prepare her. In this they signed her up in dancing classes, music classes, and classes for manners that will make her act appropriate in the chance she would have to be in front of a Royal. Rosalina did not care much for the etiquette and grooming because she already had formed her identity around becoming a doctor like her parents.

Rosalina's accomplishment of becoming a physician like her parents was overlooked when they had received in the mail that Rosa was selected to be in The Selection. Not once did they express joy for Rosalina passing her license exam, instead they just lectured her about what she needed to do and to prepare. In all honesty, Rosalina was content with being where she was and felt she did not have to be selected to be happy, since her parents already had told her she was going to participate Rosalina had no choice but to join. In short, they had packed her stuff and sent her on her way without a single thought for Rosalina's wants or needs. The only family member she had that looked out for Rosalina and truly listened to her thoughts was her younger sister Lillian. The most her younger sister could do was talk to her Rosalina afterwords and give her some cheerful words to boost Rosalina's mood or give her a crying shoulder. Lillian rarely ever got in trouble with her parents because they were not as hyper focused on her like Rosalina.

But it's hard to let go and accept the pain of departure.

  Caleb's family belonged to Caste 7, where his father worked mainly as a ditch digger, it was tiring work but very much worth it in order to care for his large family. Caleb had 4 other siblings all of which were younger than him. Caleb did what he could to help his mother around the house in order to help ease the stress because his father rarely had time to be there.
  Without a chance to really experience his childhood like he wanted to made him grow a little rebellious in which he often went out in secret to cause a bit of trouble around town. Whether it be stealing some produce on a farm area or playing a prank on store clerks. Caleb was fearless enough to do almost anything if it meant that he could get an ounce of thrill which would made him feel somewhat alive in the dreary life he had to live out. Caleb wanted more out of his life living in life of riches instead of rags and he prayed for that day to come every day but with each passing day it felt like it probably was not going to happen.
  In an unfortunate stroke of luck, Caleb's tom foolery caught up to him when he was captured by the royal guards one night when he wanted to try his luck to break into the royal grounds. Caleb was just so curious what was on the other side and possibly what kind of token souvenir he could bring back for his experience. He clearly was not slick enough because he got caught. Maybe this was his lucky day because the royal guards did see his potential in Caleb's strong physique and his ability to fight and be sneaky. The guards had given him the ultimatum to be trained to be a guard or to be jailed and possibly killed for his actions. Of course, Caleb chose the former because this would mean he could be a part of Caste 2. The only downside was the fact he might not see his family from his decision, but hopefully he could return his blessings back home one day. He just couldn't drop this one of a kind opportunity. After a few years of training he was an official Guard and was hired to be a Guard for a Caste 2 family, the best option he could possibly get! melissa was always a bright kid. she had shown potential in many different subject areas, but she had a certain connection to foreign languages. her mother spoke to all the children in french and spanish from a young age, and melissa craved more knowledge of different languages. she decided to focus her studies on language and developed a special interest in foreign literature. melissa was also always quite sociable, she had many friends and loved meeting new people, which lead to her discovering her love for teaching. she decided that she'd like to share her love of languages with other people and became a professor at one of the top universities at the rather young age of 21.
knowing that she was around the same age as the prince, melissa was always aware of the selection. she knew she would be eligible but wasn't quite preparing for the competition as some other girls she knew were. she wasn't opposed to the idea, but she felt like being the queen wasn't really her life calling. still, when the time came, she applied because most of her friends were. plus, it might turn out to be fun!

By the way, as a quick comment, I suggest you have a maid, royal family member, guard or reporter character as well since selected do have the chance of disappearing from the story. This way you can ensure that you stay in the RP
