Effervescent
Rests Chin In Hands
It's been two hundred years since the kingdoms last saw peace between those with magic and those without. With the following death of the land's peacekeepers, known in legend as Dragon Wardens, humans allied with orcs and drove those with magic from their lands in fear of the power they could possess against them. As time passed, animosity grew between the two societies.
Not but three years ago rumors passed through the lands of a Dark Army rising, a society of Shadow forming within the Twisted Woods once again. The rumor grew to reality as they slowly crept out from the woods, kidnapping innocents for nefarious purposes and slaughtering those who resist. Magical beings began to feel a threat upon their magic as it grows weaker. And then, as the Dark Army grew in number, the threat became too grand to ignore. Humans, orcs, and all manner of magical beings must now set aside their differences to combat the Shadow before it consumes the Four Kingdoms.
Now open for CS submissions: The Seed of Life | RpNation.com - Best Roleplay Forum
The Seed of Life will be a character driven story arch where players and their characters shape the outcome of the story. It will be a loose linear format with several set objectives that carry multiple paths and outcomes for the characters. Each character in the story matters and impacts the story with what they choose to do (or not to do).
This will be a detail oriented roleplay.
There will be provided lore to aid in immersion within the lore and universe. Players are welcome to expand with creative freedom where lore is vague pending approval.
OOC communication is important to me. If you have questions or concerns or even ideas for subplots, don't hesitate to PM me!
Real life always comes first with my roleplays. If you are going to be gone due to family or you just don't have any creative juices flowing, let me know!
This is a free standing sequel to my current roleplay The Dragon Wardens. It is not necessary to know/read/participate in that roleplay in order to participate in this plot. There will be allusions, and what has happened and will happen in The Dragon Wardens will come to shape what happens for this plot.
Magical and non magical beings will have different goals in mind while attempting to work together against this common enemy.
Humans and Orcs will be more focused on protecting and aiding their people, as they suffer from physical attacks on a daily basis. Their lands are constantly ambushed by Shadow Casters. Their people disappear without a trace. Some are tortured or turned into tainted to plague their lands on a more personal level. Their dead are raised as puppets to the Shadow Casters. It's torment for these non magical people, and they want the suffering to end.
All magical beings are far enough away from the daily tyranny from the Dark Army. While they may see some corruption with the Twisted Woods weaving closer and further into their lands, the Shadow Casters are preoccupied within the other Kingdoms, and it seems that their path will not lead them to Eversyth. However, the growing use of Shadow Magic has begun to taint the World Tree, and in essence, weaken the aether to which their magic derives. It is causing a sickness within them, making casting their magic painful if done in excessive amounts. Those made of pure magic, like the nymphs, are fading and dying. The shae spout premonitions of despair. They all know their World Tree is dying, and if that happens, magic and everything connected to it will die. They feel they must find the Seed of Life. The Seed of Life is practically a myth. No one living has ever seen one, for it is only created when the World Tree feels its life is coming to a close. All magical beings wish to find a Seed of Life so that they may preserve all things magic. Without their magic, they feel the Dark Army will prevail.
So that people can get an idea as to what they would like to play or can play in this plot, I will provide a list of playable races. The biggest thing to note that it is impossible to have a red headed character. There are lore reasons.
Elves - Naveri, Sur, and Vuaturi
- Naveri - akin to high elves. Dark hair. Beautiful. Elegant.
- Sur - typical woodland type. Rugged and survivalists.
- Vuaturi no longer nomadic, and forced to settle in Eversyth. Their technology has been banned, setting technological advancements back. Their culture is preserved and out of respect they are the only race allowed to tattoo themselves magically. White hair, white eyes, dark skin, tattoos that glow when magic is used.
Tainted - shapeshifters tainted and formed by Shadow. They are hunted down and typically kill on sight once they shift. These once-humans can only cast Shadow magic, and appear typically in their human form. They shape shift without control and go on murderous sprees giving them no refuge in any society. They will even kill each other. Special permission needed in order to play a tainted. Must be willing to the idea your character might be killed, and is the only playable race that can be killed by me (the GM) without prior warning.
Half-elves - part elf, part human. only accepted in magical society. Procreation between elves and humans is outlawed. If the baby is discovered in human society, it will be killed. Magic society will accept them with open arms. Mild
Nymphs - appear as women. charming. traits of the element to which they hail within their appearance. They are the embodiment of their element (earth, wind, fire, water) and are not casters of magic
Shae - goat-like in appearance with cloven hooves as feet. Their magic is not typical in that they cannot cast. They are connected with the World Tree and therefore considered part of the Magical society. Dwindling numbers. Just as rare as half-elves. Special permission required in order to play.
Humans - Fallenites, Baladuri, Maldviri and Thalls
- Fallenites have been a struggling society. It is poverty stricken, and in efforts to bring the kingdom up from the brink of failing the king has sold portions of land to Thallas. Some Thalls used to hail from Faledrin and are bitter about their land being sold away. Thieves and sailors are common.
- Baladuri still remain strong in the North. They have since claimed the native lands throwing a large portion of natives into slavery to mine in the mountains. Known for their warriors and strong military.
- Maldviri hail from the desert lands of Maldvir (South). They are mysterious and ritualistic, claiming to be immune to Shadow Magic. They worship the Inner Light.
- Thalls hold the largest portion of land and have the most advanced society. It is ruled by the young king. Very typical upper class society. Not much poverty to be found, almost strangely so.
Orcs - their lands extend into the Woodlands of Valnahar. They work peacefully with the humans to mechanize their armies to combat magic. Highly intelligent, though their intelligence is often overlooked due to their smarts being applied to mechanizations of war. High population of engineers and forward thinkers.
- Naveri - akin to high elves. Dark hair. Beautiful. Elegant.
