View attachment 411147 Vienna watched as he began to ponder about it when she had turned around knowing and hoping that he was done putting his clothes on. Vienna tried her best to always be there for Judah, even if it meant letting him crash on her grandmothers couch. But Vienna felt a little dirty for not telling him of what she was, she was going to tell him a year ago when she thought she was ready. But, one day they were talking about the amount of tourist that come in and it was because of the supernatural legends that haunted this town of Redwood. Judah had expressed his dislike of vampires and witches. When he talked of how much he despised those creatures, she got chills on her back. It sounded like such hatred. That day, Vienna stayed quiet and allowed him to talk the rest of the day. Vienna knew that he would judge her and probably not be friends with her anymore because of her being a witch, well half witch. And not to mention that she kept the secret from him for so long. Vienna didn’t want to jeopardize their relationship by saying what she is, she knew that if he left her, she would be devastated, so she remained silent all these years.
Vienna knew that maybe one day she could tell him and he could understand. But she knew with the temper and stubbornness that he had, there was no way she could find the courage to say what she was. Vienna looked around to see that he was eating a grape. He was her best friend, she couldn’t ruin that. He was all she had, besides her grandmother. Her father had disappeared to god knows where, so instead of having a father figure in her life to protect her. She has Judah, her savior. Vienna looked at him when he asked who was driving, she did a little wiggle when she realized that he agreed to going with her. “Clearly I’m driving...in my car, lord only knows that I can’t ride that motorcycle of yours, dressed like this.” She told him as she did a complete 360 in front of him. Vienna liked that she could be herself in front of Judah, it was nice and that is one of the reasons why she loved their friendship. Neither of them judged each other for who they are (personality wise of course). There was acceptance, and Vienna liked that.

It felt good to see Vienna pleased like this. Judah felt as if he was doing the right thing---something that he wasn't very familiar with, considering his past full of wrongdoings. He watched her twirl around excitedly, one of her many little mannerisms that Judah managed to pick up, seeing once again just how well the dress fit her. Judah smirked slightly, imagining Vienna riding his motorbike in that getup, seeming so out of place and just about the opposite of elegant. Of course, Judah's motorbike was made for long travels, not some fancy cab for a party by the lake.
They headed outside, the sky creamed pink and purple with hints of orange, with a nice evening breeze passing through; perfect party weather. Judah paused for a moment as they came towards the jeep, remembering to open the door for Vienna to the driver's seat, trying to be some kind of gentleman. He went around and sat in the passenger's seat, turning on the radio as Vienna started the car.
As they began the twenty-minute trip to town, Judah looked out the window, watching the passing scenes of nature and forest flicker by him. It reminded him of the nights he'd spend out in the prairies and patches of woodland, camping out when there was no shelter for him to go to. Those nights, those were the nights where he'd take the liberty to transform, to let the wolf inside him take over. He spent those nights running across the forest, like a true animal, a true predator, alone, fierce and independent. Judah had never been a pack wolf, no, no. He had always had that rebellious streak, that desire for solitariness, to be what he truly was.
A lone wolf.
And though Judah had it in his mind that he was destined for solitude, never being able to keep a long enough relationship to really count as anything, he thought differently for Vienna. It struck as strange to him that Vienna, as beautiful and genuine as she was, still hadn't managed to get somebody, some significant other, even when Judah, despite his frequent departures, knew that there were many who'd gladly take that role. What was Vienna waiting for?
Still, he thought, glancing at her as she drove, her gaze on the road. A wolfish sense of possessiveness came over him, feeling overprotective. She needs protecting. Boyfriend or not.
In no time at all, they had arrived in town. Judah was already seeing people entering cabs and cars, all dressed nicely, no doubt heading for the party. An uncharacteristic sense of unease came over Judah. Obviously, this was no small gathering---there were going to be many people. If only Judah was as good as being social as he was being alone...
They kept going, mostly following the other cabs heading towards the lake. Judah let his eyes wander, trying to spot all the old places he used to visit here as a kid. Redwood had changed and grown more than he was used to---some many new buildings, signs, roads, technology---it definitely wasn't the Redwood he had left decades ago. A sense of homesickness and dread blossomed within him. Suddenly, as they were nearing the large, church-like manor, Judah felt nervous. He never stayed in Redwood for more than a few days to a few weeks---he'd never really go into town, afraid to see just how much Redwood had really changed.
And yet now, in just a few minutes, he was about to walk in and see exactly that.
Judah rolled the jeep window down, gazing at the spectacular mansion. The moment he did, a million scents and sounds assaulted his senses. Judah winced, groaning a bit. He wasn't used to this much influx of activity, wasn't used to all these sights and smells and sounds all being in one place, especially when he had spent weeks out in the country where it had been peaceful and virtually empty. It made him dizzy---he was having trouble distinguishing them all, but the reminder that Vienna was right beside him, expecting him to accompany him to this thing made him snap out of it, more or less. He ignored the unsteadiness and got out of the car, closing the door a little harder than expected and went over to Vienna's side, opening the door for her once more.
"C'mon," he said, his voice low and slightly annoyed at all the activity muddling his senses. He took her hand and escorted her to the entrance, almost cautiously as he looked around at all the people around them as they entered the spacious manoir. His grip tightened around Vienna's slender hand, pausing for a moment. There was something wrong. His senses began to clear, his brain getting used to all the signals, and with it, Judah sensed something else. His grasp on Vienna tightened even more, surely getting him a not-so-nice reaction from Vienna herself. His muscles became tense, realizing what was wrong.
Witches.
And not only that---there was something more. Something worse.
Vampires.
