The Second Griffon War (Casual Thread - All welcome!)

"I think the big problem with having a haunted leg that moves on its own, is the fact that it might start moving without me." She rubs her eyes with her one good hoof and sighs. "What if the leg starts tripping me? What if it takes off on its own, detaches from me, and then pummels an old mare to death?! What if I am charged with murder for a crime I didn't commit and have to spend the rest of my days in a prison for necromancers even though I don't do necromancy?! THOSE PRISONS ARE BAD AVE! REALLY BAD!"

Avedon doesn't know what to do! He shakes her
"Calm down! Calm down Trixie or I'll stab you with needles! I think theyre morphine! That's a calming though right? RIGHT?!"
>Shakes her up and down like a rag-doll. it was alot easier now that she weighed less! Thank you Griffin Weight-Loss Programs!

Two hooded ponies made their way over a nearby hill. Both stopped and looked towards each other. "Here it is Pine! That nice town I told you about!" She squeaked. The stallion beside her looked onward at the peaceful village before turning back too her. "Are you sure about this Berry?"
"YEAH I'm sure. I've sold goods here many times!"
They both went down the hillside with a cart of goods behind them. "Here. Under this tree this is where I sell at." Pine unloaded baskets of fruits and vegetables meanwhile, Berry sets up a sign claiming the genuine freshness of the shop's treats.
"There we go! Now we wait Pine~" She nuzzled up against him.

A pair of binoculars were lowered. A mare standing at a farm window solemnly lowered her hat. "Bah Celestia. They're back!"

---

A blonde, orange coated mare with a brimmed hat would be trying to discreetly watch you from the bushes, squinting suspiciously, and failing to be conspicuous.

Berry's ears twitched. "Pine? Did you hear that?" She whispered without breaking her embrace. "Yep. I can hear it."
Pine whipped around and stomped a hoof into the dirt. Puffing air from his nose. "Come on! wouldya just stop snooping on us?" Pine's eyes scanned the area for movement.

Asa would be awoken by the sound of metal being pounded on. It was the same thing she awoke to everyday. Silvanus was tireless in her work to break down the steel door, convinced that if she kept trying she could actually do it. But this particular door was well over 2 feet wide, a locking sliding door which meant no easily breakable hinges, and made of something much stronger than steel. It would take a great effort from Celestia to break open this door, let alone this small alicorn who didn't yet have a fraction of her mother's strength.

To Silvanus' credit, she dented the door. Dozens of times. But nothing ever came close to actually putting a big enough hole in the thing to climb through. And her magic didn't work, either. That would be the greatest thing, if she could simply tear the thing apart with her magic. But that wasn't happening any time soon.

Like every other time, she gave up after a few minutes. The door and her hooves both ended up covered in blood from the way her hooves shattered against the metal, only to be repaired moments later by her innate regeneration. "This is stupid!" She remarked for the third time since they'd been here, doing the exact same thing as she'd been doing every other morning.

Asa was really getting tired of being woken up by that every day. It was about as useful as was her staring at it, as if she could put a hole through it with her eyes. She realized completely that her paranoid behavior wasn't healthy in the least, and neither was Silva constantly hitting the door, but guessed there wasn't much she could do about it. Maybe it just came as instinct like it did for her. Or Silva was just so stubborn as to not realize that it was, by definition, insanity.

She raised her head, lazily rolling over onto her belly and burying her face in the pillow. "Itz nawt gumma werk," she said into the pillow, muffling the words. So she pulled her head up to speak aloud a second time. "It's not gonna work, Silva." She said again. "They made this place princess proof."

Applejack emerged from the bushes, sheepish yet trying to maintain an air that she was in the right and they were suspicious.

"...Howdy. So watcher doing over here?"

Asa popped out of the teleport with Luna after the little fiasco with the Adventuring Guild back in the castle. She almost immediately wanted to vomit, not being used to that mode of transportation yet, but managed to keep it down. It burned the back of her throat and made her cough. Ugh.

She rolled her shoulder, feeling a sharp pain of protest come from the muscle. That last bandit had really done a number on her with that lightning after her scales had been opened up. They could reflect magic occasionally but it had struck her just right to not hit any of her crystalline scales at all. Right to the hide underneath them. It left a scorch mark along with some angry red tissue, and a very sore shoulder.

Letting out a long sigh, she smiled up at Luna. "Thank you for coming to save me, aunty," she said once again. "Dunno what woulda happened if you weren't there... being captured by strange ponies again so soon..." She shuddered at the thought.

"You're a part of the Royal Family now, Asa. That means you get free Deity Protection whenever you want." She chuckled slightly and shook her head. "Seriously, though... Remember that I can't always be there, nor can Celestia or your mother. Be more careful next time. It would break all of our hearts if anything were to happen to you, especially Princess Silvanus!"

Unfortunately, Luna couldn't exactly help Asa with the discomfort... because she was incapable of using healing magic. Her daughter wasn't though. In fact healing magic was sort of Silvanus' thing.

Speaking of Silvanus, she just burst out of the ground beside them, covered in little bits of rock and dirt and having worms stuck in her mane. "I heeewd mu na-..." she paused for a moment before biting apart a large rock that was in her mouth and spit out the chunks. "... I heard my name!" She exclaimed happily, before looking at Asa and raising an eyebrow. "... You look awful."

Asa nodded her head. "It's still... a little odd," she replied truthfully, voice soft, "you know. I still remember the cave still, but... not by much anymore. Don't even know how young I was when papa found me." She shrugged her shoulder... yes, the one, because the other hurt too much.

When Silva suddenly appeared, the baby dragoness froze up for a second at the sight of her. She was still in the mindset of noise = danger from the adventure. Realizing who it was a moment later, she visibly relaxed and sat down, looking over at her shoulder. The crystals on her neck were a bit damaged but nothing bad.

"... Yeah." She mumbled, turning her eyes back up to Silva. "I, uh, may have made a big oopsie with the Adventurers Guild."

Dumbledoof Dumbledoof
Once Silva had shown up and the two began to talk, Luna motioned for them both to be silent for a moment before speaking. "Asa, I trust that you are fine now that you're back in Canterlot. I'm going to find Shining Armor and have a talk with the Adventurers Guild who allowed you to sign yourself out; you two just take care of each other. No crazy adventures." She said, directing that mostly at Silvanus. She knew that Asa probably wasn't wanting to do any adventuring right now, and she didn't want Silvanus pressuring her.

Silvanus lazily saluted Luna, who flew away to do her own business.

Silvanus looked Asa up and down, frowned, and then let her horn glow a light green color. A cloud of revitalizing green mist flowed from her horn, wrapping itself around Asa and seeping in between the cracks in her scales, nourishing her body to help speed up its natural healing. Once she was done giving Asa that light regeneration spell, Silvanus just sighed. "I can't do much more yet, but it should help get rid of the damage over the course of a few days. You look alright anyway..."

Nope, Asa had absolutely zero intentions of stepping outside the castle right now. Actually, all she wanted to do was get cleaned up and go to sleep. She still had dirt and other things on her scales and definitely wasn't interested in any infected wounds or something. Leave that for somebody who is unhygienic!

She gave a small shake at the rejuvenating cloud, giving Silva a small smile. "Anything helps. Thank you, Silva." She limped over and gave the little alicorn a quick hug before heading off. She was due for a much needed bath. She stopped in her tracks for a second, turning and wondering if Silva would follow. "So... how has your day been?" She asked.

Dumbledoof Dumbledoof
She didn't even have to turn, because Silvanus was step-for-step beside her. It didn't look like Silvanus was going anywhere; not as long as Asa was hurt. "My day was good. I spent most of it exploring the caverns below Canterlot... pretty interesting stuff down there! A lot of things to run away from, though. I just stick inside my walls and don't let anything near me. It looks like you don't get away as easily as I do."

Silvanus sighed and shook her head. She didn't like seeing Asa hurt, but there was nothing that she could do about it now. Instead she would simply help run Asa a bath and clean the dragoness up. "... So, are you going to tell me why there is wolf blood on you, or do I have to pry?" She asked with an arched eyebrow.

Dreamweaver Dreamweaver
Asa winced. "Uh... I signed up at this Adventurers Guild thingie to help find this teddy bear for a foal..." She really did want to help! "And then it led to me going to the Everfree Forest with a bunch of weirdos..." 'Weirdos' was an overstatement possibly, more like a bunch of misfits. "Then wolves attacked that I really didn't wanna kill but they wanted to eat me for dinner, so..." Not much choice there.

She looked at Silvanus guiltily. "You're not mad, are you?"

After some magical meditating near the waterfall entrance to the Sacred Tree, Cassian went out to the woods to find medicinal herbs and minerals to make some strong natural pain-killers for Trixie. And maybe fix up something to eat for the rest of the patients He wasnt sure how her condition was since he spent more of his time helping with escorting supply caravans and liberating captured soldiers from small enemy camps. But he knew Starlight would always be around her to help keep her spirits up. Still, it never hurts to check in and bring a few presents. However, he encountered several griffon scouts spying on him. They nearly got away and compromised the location of the waterfall entrance. Luckily, the young dragon was in the mood for a little.....bird hunting.

Once the situation was resolved, Cass made it back to the hospital with a few minor injuries. But that was the least of the dragon youth's problems. He nearly gave away the location of one of the Royal Family's treasured secrets. He was lucky he was able to nip this problem in the butt before it triggered an entire event of problems. The enemy probably would have found an advantage in the war. And....Princess Luna would have most likely ripped him a new one. The mere thought of what she might do sent chills in his scales. After all, He promised to keep the Sacred Tree a secret. Which, doesnt seem to be helping if he keeps training so close to it. When he trains near the tree, its easier for him to focus somehow. So far, he was making good progress on harnessing his Earth Magic while applying it to his fighting skills. But unfortunatly it seems he will have to train else where, so the enemy wont get any hints to make things difficult as it is.

As soon as he was bandaged up, Cass made is way to Trixie's room and gave it a gentle knock. "Hey Trix! You awake? It's me.".

"We're setting up shop here." Berry pointed at the small clearing. "I hope it's not an issue."
Pine stepped forward "Of course it's okay Berry. We are staying here and that's that."

Silvanus listened to the young dragoness speak, and shrugged her shoulders slightly. "... No, why would I be upset with you?" She frowned a bit, clearly confused at that notion. "They attacked, you defended yourself. That's sorta how nature works most of the time. It's not like you sought them out to kill them and take their pelts... if you did that I'd be mad, but you didn't."

As time had went on, Trixie became less exhausted from her wound and more ready to deal with it. The painkillers, mixed with healing magic from the clerics at the hospital, had meant she made a pretty speedy recovery. It didn't hurt too much anymore, and from now on the doctors said she'd be able to make due with minimal painkillers and no healing magic. Good deal.

That didn't mean she was done in the hospital, though. She had an entire month-long session of just learning how to walk again. A prosthetic made it easier, but Trixie didn't really want one... so she was learning to walk with 3 legs. 1 front one and her 2 back legs. She was in the middle of practicing this with Starlight as her guide when Cassian knocked. "Coming!" She said.

She got over to the door about a whole 20 seconds later.

Starlight was glad that she'd graduated from Twilight's teachings. It meant that she could devote all of her time to being with Trixie, even if she was welcome about 45% of the time. The other 55% she insisted that Trixie just ignore her as she sat down. She hadn't argued with Trixie's choice to refuse a prosthetic, but she clearly disagreed with it.

Starlight helped her as she practised. It was a slow and embarrassing process, but one which Trixie couldn't do alone. Starlight put up with the abuse and the blame and the 'Don't look at me!'s with a smile on her face. It wasn't exactly a pain-free time of her life, but it could be the happiest.

When the door was knocked, Starlight aided Trixie, who was making definite progress, to the door. When the door was open, she saw the Dragon Cassian. They hadn't talked that much, but maybe that could be fixed.

Asa breathed a sigh of relief. Of course Silva wouldn't have been mad over that. Nature worked in specific ways, and there was a clear difference between 'not dying' and 'hunting for sport.' Those ponies were just plain despicable, only hunting for the animal's pelts. Perhaps she just wasn't in her right mind to be getting worried over such things.

"Sorry, just... out of it!" She said half-heartedly, but smiling anyway.

With those possibly illogical thoughts no longer plaguing her mind, the little dragoness just limped her way to her room. She was just focused on getting that bath and then going to bed now. Every part of her body ached, the worst of it centered on her shoulder, but it wasn't as if that was the only thing being put to use. She was not used to combat yet and so her body hadn't toughened up to it. Yay being mortal.

When they arrived at Asa's suite, she made a beeline for the bathroom.

The sound of Trixie coming to the door surprised the young dragon. Last time she could barely move or make sentences due to the painkillers she was on. He waited for about a good twenty seconds while tapping his foot before the door finally opened. There was one of his favorite patients he liked to visit and entertain while she recovered. Seeing her walking again made Cass smile. Although he couldnt help but notice she was only on three legs, which explains why the slow timing on answering the door.

"Heya Trix! You're walking!.", he greeted with a little gleam of excitment and a casual smile. "Barely..." he thought to himself. "Anyway, I thought I'd come check in since its been a while", he nervously scratched the back of his head, hoping she was too upset.

Trixie was surprised to see Cassian standing there. She had been expecting a nurse or doctor first of all, and if not that then Avedon or even Expellix. But Cassian? Not so much; they hadn't spent much time together. But that could change at least. Trixie was happy to have any visitors that weren't Starlight!

Not that she didn't love Starlight being around. It's just that Starlight was like the only pony to regularly visit. Ouch.

"Cassian! Hello!" Trixie nodded her head and waddled back a few steps to give him some room to enter the room. She wasn't hooked up to any machines anymore, so it was basically just a regular hospital bedroom.

Dumbledoof Dumbledoof
Haha, stupid weak mortals. Even the dragons were weak! The ponies must be really weak.

Of course Silvanus wasn't thinking that, she was just thinking of ways to make Asa feel better. She followed the dragoness up to her bedroom and prepared her bed while the young dragon went into the bathroom. Silvanus summoned a few vases of nice smelling flowers to make her feel better and quickly washed the sheets with magic, as if they'd just been freshly cleaned!

Anything she could do to help.

Asa just stood there for a minute looking around the place. Her thoughts were just a bit scrambled, so taking the time to reorder them was due. Whenever she finally realized that she was actually doing nothing at all, she quickly moved forward towards the bath, leaning over the edge and turning one of the faucets to let water begin filling it, and of course, making it boiling hot. Because what dragon didn't like hot baths?

While she was waiting for it to be filled, she looked down at her shoulder, mostly peering at all the cracked and splintered crystals lining it still. Those... would have to be removed, make room for new crystals to build and form. She daintily reached over and worked some of her claws underneath one of the crystal plates, leveraging them like a crowbar and ripping it up.

She let out a long, loud hiss in pain from it, clenching her eyes closed, but that piece was at least removed. It was at least the worst and biggest one, so the others weren't that bad, mostly just cracked along the surface. That one had been almost completely pulverized.

The young dragon steps in and starts putting his bag and weapons in the far corner of the room. But not before noticing a familiar light purple unicorn with a cyan streak in her purple mane. "Hey there, Starlight.", he greeted.

When placing his gear down, he took in his surrounds. The equipment Trixie was hooked on was replaced with rails to help her learn to walk again. "So, seeing as though youre already on rehabilitation, I guess i was more busy than i thought", he stated. He wasnt sure how long its been since he last visited. After the second assualt, Cassian made time helping and feeding the injured while training. He was surprised to find out Trixie lost a limb during that fight. No one would tell him how it happened, but he decided not to press it and help her however he could when he had the time. He disnt see much of Starlight during his visits, which was possible at a different time since he always came in during dinner time too cook. Everytime he visited, Trixie was always on her painkillers. Which made her pretty funny and loopy. Still, the dragon felt terrible seeing her like that. When he first met her and Starlight in ponyville, he found them to be an odd but interesting couple. And watching them practice thier spells, showed him they had amazing potiental. Even though, Trixie was a bit annoying with her boasting. But it didnt take long until it grew on him. And her speaking in third person made her an interesting character to know. But now seeing her like this.....all he could do was put up a strong front for her. Even when she was seriously high on those pain killers. He wouldnt be surprised if she doesnt remember those times he played music on his ocarina for her until she fell asleep.
