Fantasy The Return of Corruption

"It's not that simple. Think of it design-wise. What's the point in having a castle if anyone can just teleport around freely? He may as well be living in a hotel. Amos designed this castle with magic so that souls won't escape. This castle land is isolated from the realms so prisoners can't just teleport out or do exactly what you're trying to do now."
This castle was cut off from other realms, as a security measure both to protect him and the security of the prison system. Only someone with God status could move about freely in the castle

He heard Ceralder talk about Flauren. He could turn his Var Sword into Flauren and wield it just fine, but would it work, or activate the traps? "Does your flame immediately dispel all the magic? If your flame ea-"

He didn't finish the thought. The walls suddenly turned white and they all vanished. Everyone in the group reappeared in a MASSIVE room about the size of a football field. They were on one side of the room. Between them and the other side were a bunch of spikes protruding over a glowing soul pit.

"Ah fuck." Arabelle said, gripping her sword tightly and nervously.

"I'm right here, there's no need to yell," Alex said in a voice that had a sarcastic undertone. He got up, putting his pencil down from drawing to answer the door. As she opened it, he noticed Tyr. "Crap. FATHER BISHOP?! DAY KS A SLEEPING OUTSIDE THE DOOR!"
(C'mon. You can do better than that. I mean, Alex has just seen his dad lying next to him, bleeding out.)

"The Spike Pit Challenge," Ethan said, looking into the Soul Pit. Someone hit another trap.

"The thing about this corridor is that we don't get alerted as to the fact that we activated one. They don't sink into the ground. Alreos made these traps for those that actually infiltrate the castle. Khan must've armed them as to prevent another mass crash. He's either toying with us or desperate."

White glowing and stepping stones appeared between them and the end. There was no getting out if they fell. "You fall, it's over. You don't go the Abyss. This place connects to Tartarus itself. Thank Amos for that.............Any questions?"

"You've got to be kidding me." Arabelle said. If she had eyes she would have rolled them.

(Ignore the last post)

Sandro ran up behind them coughing blood. "Arabelle could you--" he died in a fit of coughing before regaining his composure. "Take off the ring now? I'm dying here..." his hood was pulled lower, but any watchful eye could see the slahes all over his face.

Arabelle nodded and took off the ring, the pain from the wounds now hitting her. She clenched her teeth.

Ethan kept looking into the soul pit for a minute before looking back. "Good question. It's best we do it as fast as possible, because every stone you step on will bring up a flying or wall demon (AKA spider). These are Tartarus's own. They're incredibly weak physically, but do have quite a bit of magic stamina. They're immune to damage, physical or magic. There are 50 stones between this and the halfway, but 30 steps forward between this and the 'checkpoint.'

If everyone looked out, they'd see a white shield dome halfway. "That checkpoint was added by Alreos as a show of mercy. All wounds healed, all magic restored, magic is freely usable, and protects against any and all attacks."

"One more thing before I take more questions: All Magic is drained after you cross this barrier, and that includes artifacts, runes, and Legendary Weapons." By 'barrier', he was referring the almost transparent blue wall in front of them. "What I suggest is using a spell to give yourself a burst of speed before crossing the border, so you can actually skip stones........or some sort of potion to increase agility."

"Any more questions?"

Sandro relaxed as pain seeped out of the non existent wounds. After a minute, he spoke. "Ok you can put it on again. I'm with you now. " he limped up and went to Arabelle, only managing to get there with his staff.

"Let's do this." Arabelle said, putting the ring back on and sheathing Lightbringer.

Sandro gasped. "Man I'm not agile at all!" Then realized what he had said. "Ok I guess I'll stay here...I'm not sure how I'd get over. Arabelle don't take that ring off. If I die it will feel cold for a minute, don't take it off. It will save me but you'll feel insane pain. "

(I go for a walk and I have 7 notifs. Well I was complaining about not getting notifs. Oh well. So, uh, recap?)

(We're basically in a god-modded trap challenge for plot reasons. A spike pit over a soul pit with stepping stones. Make it across)

(You don't have to be agile per-se. You just need to make it across with absolutely 0 magic or magic influence. Being agile just helps because it can skip stones, thus less demons.)

(Fuck it I will go)

"You brought up a good point, Sandro.......75%. If 75% of us can make it completely across, everyone who doesn't fall will return to the corridor. Thank Alreos for this too. Allow me to take a headcount:"

  1. Ethan
  2. Ari
  3. Elaina
  4. Noam
  5. Misty
  6. Arabelle
  7. Sandro
  8. Bailey
  9. Ceralder
  10. Sakaga
  11. Raziel
  12. Cross

(Did I miss anyone?)

"So if about 9 of us makes it, we all leave. Discuss amongst yourselves who goes and which 4 stays. I'm going for sure. I'm the quickest one here, plus I've done this 3 times."

"I'm definitely going. I'm fast as hell and I can skip stones."

Sandro gasped and leaned on his staff. "Only if I have to" he shuddered and coughed more blood.

Cross was pondering. "Truth be told I'm not sure if I should go or not. Something inside of me is screaming at me to turn back. While something else is telling me to go with you guys."
