The Premise: You're a young carnivore, aged 20-22... and you've been in prison for the last five years. You went wild for a moment of weakness, or you got really pissed off, or maybe it was all an accident... but you predated a classmate back in high school. Maybe they aren't dead, maybe you could be stopped before you finished the job, but you committed the crime of predation. Depending on the severity of your crime, you're either in here for another five to ten years, or you're never leaving this prison for as long as you live. You've been forgotten by society. Maybe your own family wants nothing to do with you.
Until today, nobody cared about you.
Today, you have a visitor. He's a black sheep, smaller than any other sheep you've ever seen. He uses a fancy wooden cane with a red finish to move around, and you notice how he never puts any weight on his left leg. He wears a white dress shirt over his black wool and a black tweed vest on top of that. His yellow ascot draws your gaze right to his neck. He doesn't seem that much older than you; on the contrary, you might be the same age as him. He's carrying a notepad and pen as he sits across the glass from you in the visitor's center, and he introduces himself: "Sami Lautrec. Beastar of Redwood High." He speaks your full name aloud to you. "What if I told you I could expunge your record?" Maybe you're interested in that, or maybe you feel too guilty to take him up on that offer.
"What if I told you I was running a program that might reduce or even eliminate your potential for re-offense?" You're definitely interested, but if you have your wits about you, you're probably skeptical. He tells you he can't give you the details here, though he does understand if you're skeptical. "If it seems too good to be true, you can go back to your cell..." Obviously, you don't do that.
He starts to ask you a few questions, and tells you to answer honestly. Your answers will determine whether or not this program will work for you.
"Had you ever eaten meat before the incident?" You hadn't.
"Do you it consider it shameful for others to eat meat?" Yes.
"Do you regret your actions?" Yes.
Then he tells you your three answers mean you qualify for his program. You part ways, and a few days later, you're retrieved by an escort of armed guards and taken to a gated villa. The RP startswhen all five carnivores are inside the gates a little bit slower, gradually introducing the five to each other and the villa's scenery until all five are present.

AU Aspects: In the world of Beastars, there doesn't seem to be more than one landed country. This AU setting adds a new country with slight tweaks to the stigmas and society we know from Beastars, but in the end, it's not that different. It's just a slightly different perspective on a set of biological and emotional realities within the series. Namely, being LGBT+ isn't as stigmatized in this new country, as it is in canon, though there are definitely still animals who want to make sure everyone contributes to a new generation.
LGBT+ animals are not stigmatized at all in the walled confines of the villa, at Sami's rule. Discrimination as part of backstory is still fine.

He wears dress shirts under tweed vests, bright ties around his neck and slacks that match his shirts. His horns curl outward, an inch past his shoulders. He cuts his wool short, so the brown ends don't grow out as they should, and he appears to be a short-wooled black sheep rather than a very wooly brown sheep.

Other: Sami is not available romantically to any of the program's participants, nor his staff. He's trying to keep up the image of a very serious and in-control animal, which might make him seem unapproachable. He shows his soft side while being abrasive, more often than in lieu of his abrasiveness... but the program might require a gentler touch than he's used to handing out.

Appearance: A pale grey member of the species with a longer coat than his eastern kin. Somewhat smaller than most other coyotes, but still a large carnivore. His fur is matted and falling out; the exposed skin reveals how he's hurting himself in the depths of his stress. His belongings were sold after the incident, so he can only wear what Sami gives him. He's come into possession of quite a few black and brown wool garments as of late, simple sweaters and sweatpants; his usual style of choice before he could only wear orange.
Crime Details: He was overcome by the phenomenon known as the tablecloth effect. His number one rival, the herbivore-only sewing club leader that had always been at odds with his carnivore-only art club, made a remark that cut too deep. He lost control. That club leader is alive and well; Bach was apprehended by school security before he could do any real damage.
Family Life: Bach's family hadn't approved of him ever since he started dating a red wolf, traditional and rigid in their beliefs that one should stay within their own species. Eating any part of a living animal as Bach did... His family all but disowned him.
Other: Bach's 'one item from his past' is a photo album of the art club. His medium of choice is painting, but he dabbles in photography. Sami managed to get his photo album from one of his old club members.
