The Prodigal Babe Returns
About Me
Hello! My name is Astrid, I’m 32F. I have approximately a decade of long form roleplay experience, but I also haven’t been in the sphere for about a decade as well. Now that I have a new job that affords me an insane amount of downtime, I thought I would come back to barbermonger. A lot has changed about the world in and outside roleplay since I was last here. I’m sincerely sorry if you tried to contact me last month. I don’t normally fall off the face of the Earth with no warning. It was a weird time for me to get insanely busy and forget I posted this ad and I apologize
I do have an original plot in mind this time, but am open to others. Scroll down to the bottom if you’re interested in the plot, otherwise feel free to read the rest of the ad. I did have some spare time to write some intros for the original plot if that sweetens the deal, but they can just give you an idea of my literacy if you’d like to see here
About the Roleplay
Genres
I have personally outgrown fandoms, or at least I’m not feeling any at the moment. I prefer original roleplays, and I have the most experience in ‘slice of life’, historical, and apocalyptic fantasy/science fiction. That said, I am open to expanding my writing and would love to explore more genres or genre-fusions. I’m really good at crafting plots around a few key details, so don’t be afraid to brainstorm with me!
About the Pairings
Admittedly, when I used to roleplay I would double and play two characters so that each player would have the romantic interest of their choosing. Now-a-days, I am still fine with romantic pairings, but I’m more so looking for someone who is comfortable playing at least two characters because I feel that it makes for a richer roleplay (romance not necessary).
If you are not down to play two characters but otherwise feel like we might get along, go ahead and shoot me an email or a dm
Personally, I am a boring cisgender, heterosexual, monogamous person and I have the lived experience to draw from of one so that has always tended to be the characters that I played.Don’t scroll away yet, dude! That being said, I am looking to expand my character development and writing and I am more than willing to play characters of different genders and sexual orientation. I’m not going to like, I’m nervous about unintentionally appropriating or being perceived as appropriating LGBTQ+ culture doing so - like I said, the world has changed a lot since I was last here, but if it’s not an issue I’m game.
The Frequency
While my lifestyle affords me a stupid amount of downtime, I understand that is not the case for most other people. You can expect a response from me about once a day, sometimes I’m not feeling up to it and I’ll let you know. I don’t necessarily care how long it takes you to reply, as long as you let a bitch know what’s up. You got a vacation? Have fun. You’re having a menty b? Take all the time you need. Just don’t come up with some weird outlandish lie about your brother dying after we’ve established an “out of character” friendship, follow each other on socials, and I can see all the posts of your very much alive brother. It’s so unnecessary.
The Medium
I prefer to roleplay via email, that’s what I’ve always done. I am open to roleplaying over other mediums, I just don’t know what they are or how they operate. If you have patience for a learning curve, I feel like a premature grandma getting the hand of discord.
The Contact
The best way to contact me is my email thatbabefromtheplace@gmail.com or DM here.
The Plot
Disclaimer/Note
There are many things about this plot that I am willing to change, the best roleplays in my opinion often have an element of collaboration. Although I’ve created these pre-made characters, I view every plot as a jumping-off point for brainstorming and collaboration. I’m not married to any of these characters just yet and am eager to work with you to adapt them into something that fits both our writing styles and ideas. One thing I truly care about is ensuring that all of the characters get the depth they deserve. I feel like too often, characters can be sidelined in favor of focusing too much on one pair, and I’d love to build a story where every character feels fully realized and important so please don’t be afraid to make suggestions.
Setting
The story takes place across four dynamic locations: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Dublin, and New York City. These glamorous cities serve as the backdrop for the intertwined lives of the characters, ranging from glitzy venues to private, intimate settings. The world of entertainment, media, and politics provides the perfect stage for secrets, power struggles, and romantic entanglements. It's a world where love, betrayal, and ambition intersect, and every action has the potential for both success and destruction.
• Las Vegas is the home of Sofia's art and the birthplace of her complicated relationship with Alexander. It’s a city of extremes—wealth, decadence, and hidden desires.
• Los Angeles and New York become the hub of Alexander’s music career, with its high-powered industry connections and public image constantly under scrutiny. It’s also where It’s also where Claire and Lena met and build their professional lives.
• Dublin is the city where Michael and Alexander grew up, full of old family ties and lingering conservative values that Michael has clung to as he rises in politics. It’s also where the complex relationship between the brothers began to unravel.
The Players
• Sofia: A courtesan at Moonlight Ranch and independent artist, Sofia’s success is built on her own terms, but she longs for a deeper connection. Her affair with Alexander complicates everything.
• Michael: A devout Catholic politician, Michael’s marriage to Sofia is a carefully constructed cover for his secret life. Their marriage is emotionally distant, and Michael’s struggles with his public and private selves are becoming harder to ignore.
• Alexander: A free-spirited musician and the younger brother of Michael. Alexander’s career is taking off, but his secret affair with Sofia and his fractured relationship with his brother are constant sources of tension.
• Claire: An ambitious talent agent, Alexander is Claire’s first client, starting their careers together. She knows about the affair and is struggling with the emotional and possible professional fallout. The unresolved tension from Lena’s affair, betraying Claire, the previous year complicates feelings for Alexander and deepens her sense of betrayal and confusion despite her and Lena’s attempt to move past it.
• Lena: A PR consultant and Claire’s girlfriend. Lena’s own affair still lingers between them. Though they’re attempting to work through it, there are still unresolved feelings. She’s eager to secure Universal as a client, but in doing so, she starts making decisions about Alexander’s future without consulting him or Claire—putting everything at risk.
The Situation
Sofia and Alexander have been in a secret affair for three years. Their love is undeniable, but their careers—and personal lives—hang in the balance. Claire is trying to navigate the complexities of her professional relationship with Alexander while processing her emotional turmoil over the affair. Lena, on the other hand, is caught between her own guilt, professional ambitions, and the pressure of securing deals for her clients, often making decisions without considering the impact on those closest to her.
With Alexander’s second album soon to be released, the stakes are higher than ever. Everyone has secrets, and the truth about the affair could destroy everything they’ve worked for. The question remains: Can they all keep their lives together, balancing love, loyalty, and ambition, or will the lies they’ve told catch up with them and tear everything apart?
I’d love to play: Sofia
I’m open to playing: Michael, Claire or Lena
The End
Hopefully you’ve found a worthy roleplay partner here.
