It was late April 1848 when we set out from Independence, Missouri. Our wagons were loaded with supplies, our horses freshly saddled and shoed, our guns loaded, and the soles of our boots still in one piece. The blood in our veins thrummed with excitement: We were headed west, towards Salvation, California, aptly named for the opportunity it provided.
Land. Freedom. Riches. The soil was fertile and the rivers ran thick with gold. It was a 2,000 mile trek through the unknown, but it would be worth every step once we got to the promised land.
We all signed on for our own reasons. Some of us were greedy, some of us were fleeing past mistakes, some of us were looking for a fresh start, and some of us just didn’t know what else to do with ourselves. We were all so different, from different walks of life, that we probably never would have met if it weren’t for James Miller and his naive tendency to sign on anybody with a pulse. With Mr. Miller’s money backing us, we set out with our heads held high and hope in our hearts.

Howdy folks, and welcome to The Path to Salvation, a realistic horror western where our pioneers will be forced to grapple with things far beyond anything we could hope to understand. We will be following them through the California Trail and towards Salvation, where they will build a life for themselves or die trying (and by God, many will die.)
This is a mature multi-paragraph rp, but we are open to rookies and experienced roleplayers alike! We are, however, looking for realism, and as such feature a diverse cast of reasonable folks that may be driven to unreasonable things and have their own sets of moral failings. This is a story where research is heavily recommended, but we're more than happy to point you in the proper direction! We're also only looking for folks 18+ due to the graphic horror elements of this story and mature themes. (That being said, players are expected to abide by RPN guidelines.)
