Pearl was breathless as she returned to her Sapphire's side, "Your Clarity, your message was delivered to the Emerald before her flight, just as you wished it." Though, the Emerald was adamant that pearls aren't reliable messengers, she hoped the Gem would take Sapphire's warning seriously. The last thing she wanted was for Sapphire to waste her efforts. She always worked so hard. "Is there anything else I can do...?"

"Thank you, Pearl." As much as she wanted to focus on her numerous tasks, there was much more on her mind. She was relying on Pearl much more than usual, sending her out as soon as she returned. She was starting to feel...guilty. She saw herself ask, "Do you know why I'm having you run all these errands?" And she saw Pearl say--

"Because...I need to prove myself. It was my fault. I overstepped, and I--and we--"

"Shh...It's nothing like that, Pearl. This isn't punishment." She knew Pearl would blame herself. She knew she would act so strangely, and make her upset. She knew. So, why couldn't she stop herself? "Listen. Pearl. Because you helped me, I'm ahead of schedule. We can...go somewhere, and talk."

She waited, for her judgement, for her visions of a shattered pearl--but, it didn't come. She wasn't ready for relief just yet, but, she stopped wringing the bottom hem of her skirt and stood straighter. "Oh... If you wish, Your Clarity."

Off Homeworld, Sapphire needed to be escorted by guards and permissions often needed to be granted to use galaxy warps. So, they stayed on Homeworld, so they could be alone. Really alone, with no gem walls or other surveillance. It was at these times, Sapphire and Pearl felt most at peace--but, that was before they fused. Now, there was an uneasy air lingering over them. Unsure of how this will play out, neither of them felt confident enough to speak out.

"We're alone, now...it's okay."

"It's not okay...I put you in danger. If someone saw us, you could've been broken for my mistake. I shouldn't even be here! I should just--"

"Pearl...all we did was hold hands. If I didn't see it coming, how could you have expected such an outcome?" She looked up at Pearl for a moment, "I haven't stopped thinking about it. I've never fused before. Everything....is different now. My course has changed."

"--It doesn't have to be different. It doesn't have to change! If you're satisfied with me, we can just go back to how things were. I can keep serving you, My Sapphire." That was the best case scenario, wasn't it?

"I want to try it again." She said it. Oh stars, she said it.

"Oh my stars."

"Aren't you curious?"

"I...--Do you want me to be, My Sapphire?"

"I predict that you will open up to me, Pearl. Please don't make me ask again."

They stood in silence for what felt like hours. Pearl stepped closer, and took Sapphires hands into her own. For a moment, everything felt okay. And then they fused.

"We're...we're back."

Lapis
Howlite (the gemstone is white but obvs that's not a good idea))

The two had been forced to find another hiding place. Howlite as experienced as ever, knowing precisely what to look for, and how to act around the eyes of others... And then there was her charge, the young Lapis she had found, sighing heavily as the shorter blue gem insisted on flying in order to get around. "You do know you're far more likely to be spotted from up there, yes?" She stated in a rather serious tone. "I know, you don't like the... Sensory experience. Of being grounded. But we'll be somewhere safe for that soon enough. So please."

"Oh... Oh, alright." The Lapis muttered in response, gradually coming back down as she looked far up at the more serious stark white gem, eyes soon focused on the circular cabochon at Howlite's throat from which her physical form projected. She meant to look at the other's face, but to do so would strain her neck more than she was willing. Soon following along as the taller, much older gem began to lead the way, in truth she didn't entirely like being treated as if she were the young of a species, as if she didn't know, and couldn't make her own proper judgements.

But she also didn't argue, tilting her head as Howlite was humming an unfamiliar tune on the way to the new sanctuary.

Only for everything to sour as Howlite bumped into an unfamiliar gem right at the entryway into the neglected place. Howlite soon staring harshly as she looked the unfamiliar gem over, realizing they had come across a fusion. "You had better not be planning to cause us any trouble."

This new gem was overwhelmed--calm and ease--waves of anxiety. She could see--the present and probable futures. Was this how Sapphire saw? No, no, this was new. It was different before. It's amazing! And scary. So scary!

"Okay...okay. Just relax. This is fine. No one's gonna find out."

I think someone's coming.

She felt something collide with her back, having to stifle a yelp that threatened to come out. Someone found her! Someone found her! Without any combat skills to speak off, nor any desire to commit treason, she found herself turning to back away and thinking of numerous escape routes. She faced the gem--the gems, that had taken her by surprise. A howlite and a lapis lazuli. What a strange duo, to be in a place like this. Not that they weren't just as bizarre, especially looking like this.

"Trouble? No, we..."

She trailed off, not knowing what sort of explanation to give these gems.
