Athena smiled softly, "You should." In response to his wish on meeting Rayna. The girl coughed lightly into her arm, "I'm fine really. I just have a little cold." Athena spoke, trying to brush it off. Though another cough into her arm would beg to differ. When it came to being sick, it tended to take a toll on her overall health. It's been that way ever since she was a little girl.
One thing that's for sure, Leo always was a worry wart when it came to Athena.

The caramel toned girl bit her lip as Leo explained how he had been feeling since their breakup. She knew that he was right. The talk with Olivia a few nights ago had made her realize a few things. One, Vinnie may act like her father but he was not. Two, she had a mind of her own so she should use it. Three, the act of breaking up with Leo made her realize that the girl..loved him.

"What I did was very stupid and you deserve to be upset with me." Thena responded with a sad chuckle. Athena looked down, "I guess I'm always scared to stand up to Vinnie." The girl voiced softly. Athena looked at him, "Don't wait forever to find another girl though-" Athena could hardly finish her sentence when she felt a bullet meet her side. Athena gasped at the sudden and a painful impact.

It was then that Athena felt two arms pulling her backwards.

Rayna certainly wasn't expecting James to welcome her with no questions asked but she definitely wasn't expecting this kind of reaction. His date looked surprised. But what came next had her taken aback. Her son's response was very cold and seemed to be closing himself off from her.

The woman bit her lip, "I know that me coming here after so much time is a bit much. But, can we please talk?" Rayna asked softly, James shutting her off making her feel very guilty about leaving all those years ago.
"Vinnie's planning something but I have no part in that. I-I just want to explain what happened all those years ago." She voiced in a gentle, warm tone. Praying that he'll come around.

Lucy bit her lip as James spoke such harsh words to his mother, wincing as they stung even her, though she wasn't on the receiving end of his words. Of course, Lucy understood why her fiancé acted this way and he had ever right to, but Lucy could see the hurt in his mothers face and Lucy couldn't help but speak up. "James..." She murmured softly to him as she took his hands, knowing that he probably needed her now more than he ever had in this moment. Rayna simply requested to talk...something that Lucy was willing to grant even though it was their engagement dinner. He needed family, blood relatives. Lucy wouldn't know what to do with herself if she didn't have her family...but she knew this would be difficult for James. The woman certainly hadn't changed much in appearances, having aged rather gracefully. Her dark italian features were contrast to Lucy's blonde hair and blue eyes and it was going to take some use to seeing this woman as James' mother. She could see resemblance though... not that she would dare say that to James.

"Perhaps..." Lucy started and looked James in the eyes pleading for him to take the easy way out and just talk with her. "The sooner she can explain herself the sooner we can get back to this date.." She murmured as an incentive and raised an eyebrow at him. Lucy had no doubt that Vinnie's goons were around here somewhere. Turning back to Rayna, her face was serious. "Who brought you here?" If there was a chance the Italian boss had came with her, Lucy wanted a word with him.

(Will have Finn up tomorrow after my party tonight ^.^)

James listened as Rayna said she wanted to explain what had happened for her to walk away from him all those years ago. He then looked to Lucy as she encouraged him to hear his mother out. If only so they could get back to their date. James looked down to his hands which were resting on the table. He knew he couldn't live not hearing her side of the story and he decided this may be the only chance he had.

"Okay..." he exhaustedly gave in. He motioned to the empty seat beside Lucy. "Please, sit down, Rayna." He waited for her to explain who had brought her here before continuing. "So... You look younger than I expected," he awkwardly told her. James hated small talk and wasn't fond of engaging in it. "Why did you walk out on me and my old man?" he simply asked. This was a pretty uncomfortable experience for him. He was nervous, angry and disappointed. At the same time, there was a part of him he was pushing aside that was relieved the woman was still alive. For now, it was easier for him to keep his expression detached and neutral. He was grateful Lucy was there to keep him from walking out or saying anything more harsh to his poor mother.

Leo watched Athena cough and he shook his head. "You should be inside resting. The evenings haven't quite warmed up yet."

He listened as she explained she was scared to stand up to Vinnie. "You shouldn't be, Athena. I don't think he would even hurt you if you did stand up to him. How could he?" Then she told him not to wait forever to find another girl. "But I don't wa-" Leo was cut off by the sound of gunfire and it seemed Athena may have been shot. He couldn't check as someone grabbed her to pull her backwards. "GET OFF!" he shouted and then attempted to dive onto the man to drag him away from Athena.

"Let's just hope you aren't adding me to the list of crazy and fun drunks." Carrick said to her, while in the inside he had still felt ashamed that he had gotten drunk again and almost cut off his own brother finger when said brother had gotten a ring stuck on his finger. "I could but you know that those doctors will run away from there once they find out it's a Sullivan household, honestly pisses me off how scare they can be." He joked with her on the last part but the first few part was correct, considering that he had seen how certain doctors had run away whenever they stepped on the Sullivan household. Honestly it was one of the reasons he had wanted to become a doctor, he wanted to save lives, especially his family in case anything happened to them, but certain events always got on the way. "You wanna know what my dream was before my father death happened?" He questioned her while taking orders from the new customers that just came in. "I wanted to be a doctor, heck I had the chance to go attend a certain college to pursue my dream, but now, its just a dream, so many things have happened that I sometimes feel like mg head is gonna explode." It was his father death that had caused him to drop out and come back to the family. "I had the chance to attend a college to pursue a dream but now, here I am, happily chatting with you Cassie and hanging out with the crazy drunks and at the same time smiling while seeing my family try to forgo what had happened, even trying to keep out what had happened to Father*May he rest in peace*, Mother and Finn out of their mind, while here I am remembering what happened with every step I take." It felt weird to him telling this to someone like Cassie, someone who he had never spoken to outside of work. "My head is in jumble with everything that's happening, you know I had dropped out of the college a week after arriving there, but I stayed there learning to handle a gun, something that I had never touched before."

Angel wrapped his arm around Sinead's shoulder, keeping her warm. "I'm alright," he looked over his shoulder at the sheet of ice, illuminated by a net of hanging lights. "Let's see if you can keep up," he said, smiling down at her. They walked through the entrance, grabbing a pair of skates.

After managing to slide the boots on, he tried to stand up on the sleek blades. His first attempt didn't go as planned, the skates sliding out from under him and sending him to the cold concrete. "Alright, so I need some practice." He groaned, getting up on his feet. He used the railings to slide himself to the entrance of the rink. Holding Sinead's hand, more in a way to keep his balance, he grazed across the ice. "Oh," he said looking down to the ice he was skating on. "This isn't so bad." He smiled up to Sinead, a surprised look on his face.

Sinead smirked when Angel commented on seeing if she could keep up. From the way he talked and the fact he'd brought her here, she figured he was going to be some closet skating pro. She found a bench to sit on as she removed her high heeled shoes and traded them for the skates.

When they stepped onto the ice, Angel slipped and fell onto the ground. At first, she was shocked and covered her mouth with her hand, but then the commented about needing some practice. This caused her to laugh at him, but at the same time she reached her hands out to help him get his balance back as he stood up again. "Looks like we're both rusty," she noted as he kept hold of one of her hands. She cautiously skated across the ice with him and turned to look to his face as he seemed to become accustomed to it. "Ahh, we'll be whizzing around here and doing piroettes in no time!" she joked. They picked up a little speed and Sinead momentarily lost her balance, but she fell into Angel's supportive arms before she had chance to fall onto her back. "Whoops!" she said, laughing at herself.

After steadying herself, they continued to skate. "So, what made you bring me here? It's very different to our usual dates," she curiously asked. "I love it, though," she quickly reassured him.

"I don't think I've seen you drunk, yet, Carrick," Cassie lightly told him. "Well, perhaps Conor needs to sort that doctor situation out. If you guys aren't going to go to a hospital you need someone who's willing to go to you guys. Maybe Conor or Finn can put on that boyish charm of theirs to get someone on their good side. Hell, I'm sure some doctors would jump at the chance for some extra behind the scenes cash," she added.

Cassie frowned when Carrick told her he wanted to be a doctor before Emmet died. "You know, you could enrol again and start college later this year. Your dad wouldn't want you to throw away your dreams because he died. He'd want all of his kids to do what makes them happy." She sighed. "Sure, it's useful to know how to use a gun with family and friends like yours, but where's that going to get you in the long run?" She shrugged her shoulders. "You don't want to end up like me, tending drunks all of your life. I'm not smart enough to go to college or anything, but you are and Conor would be super proud to have a legitimate professional in the family."

Rayna then watched as James's date tried to encourage him to talk with her. She waited patiently, yet nervous as he came to a decision. The woman turned to Lucy as she asked who brought her. "Vinnie did. He's somewhere around here." Rayna answered truthfully, eyes scanning around the area. Her eyes relaxed as James asked her to sit. Rayne sat down next to the blonde-haired young woman. She lightly smiled as he expressed that she looked younger than expected, "Yeah..everyone says that I look young for my age." she voiced softly.
The woman was taken aback by the straightforwardness of his next question. The tan-skinned woman cleared her throat, then focusing her eyes on James. "It's kind of complicated.." She spoke.
"I'll start from the beginning then." Rayna told James.

"When I was eighteen I started being involved in the Romano family business. I would go undercover as a spy to gather information from the Sullivans." She started. Rayna tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "There was one mission where I was undercover at the Crystal Ballroom. I was acting as a performer along with the other showgirls in the bar." she voiced, brown eyes focused on James.

Rayna thought of what occurred next. "Afterwards, your father asked me for a dance. We spent almost the whole night together in the bar." She smiled at the thought. She looked down at the table, "After that, we became friends and spent time together during my downtime but your father still didn't know I apart of the Romanos."

The woman looked up, pushing hair away from her eyes. "I did tell him after some time.We started seeing each-other without anyone from either family knowing." Rayna commented, sighing softly.

"We were together for about a year when I found out that I was pregnant with you." Rayna spoke, looking at James. She tapped her fingers lightly on the table. "My father wasn't the happiest but he was happy that he was getting a grandchild."
Rayne bit her lip, "No one knew that Ronan was your father. That is until you were two years old." Rayna voiced.
"Somehow, my father found out that Ronan was your father, which was not what I wanted because I knew what the reaction would be. But I did not expect the reaction to be so severe..."

The woman sighed softly, "My father and uncle forced me to return to Italy." Her gaze rested on James. "I did not want to leave you and your father James. I tried and tried to stay but there was absolutely no way I was allowed to stay here in Chicago. I was forced. However, if I couldn't be with you I trusted Vinnie and the others to keep you safe, which I hope has been the case." Rayna voiced, a hint of suspicion in her voice. The response she got when she came let her know that James wasn't too fond of Vinnie for whatever reason.

The woman looked her son in the eyes, "So that's why I left, I never wanted to leave you." Rayna explained in her gentle tone.

A soft smile formed on the blonde's lips as James gave in to her reasoning and let his mother explain herself. The woman sat beside Lucy and she couldn't help but notice how tiny she was compared to herself. For whatever reason, she felt like a giant next to this little Italian woman and it was making her feel self-conscious about her height for the first time in her life. Was it because it was James' mother? It had to be, she wanted to make a good impression, like most fiancé's would but it was a conflicting feeling, hoping that his mother had left for other reasons instead of not wanting her son. Clearly, she wanted some contact with him if she was here. When Rayna confirmed that Vinnie was here, a certain fire ignited in Lucy's eyes, having wanted to talk to the Italian Boss for quite some time, pick his brain on a few issues.

Lucy was about to excuse herself when Rayna dove into her explanation. The blonde was instantly intrigued and listened to the woman with rapt interest as she explained why she had left James and his father so many years ago and never returned. The story was summed up rather quickly, Lucy and James having learned the entirety of the situation in a mere matter of minutes. Lucy was horrified, to say the least. Horrified that everyone let a petty war between two families get in the way of another new family, one that was just starting out. One that could have brought change and peace to Chicago even. Lucy was furious and she knew exactly who she needed to talk to.

After Rayna had finished her story, Lucy cleared her throat. "If you would excuse me, I need to use the ladies room." She murmured to the woman and let her move out of the seat before stepping out. Now both were standing and Lucy felt even taller. Her cheeks pinked slightly as she offered a small smile to both of them, staring at James for a moment longer, hoping to give him the strength he needed before departing.

Lucy strode through the small restaurant in search of the Italian man that her family so deeply despised. She spotted him seated away from most, as if he were trying to remain unseen. Her eyes narrowed and she slowly moved forward. This was until a man stepped in front of her, blocking the path between her and Vinnie. "Oh cut the crap you goon, I don't have anything on me." Without another word, she shoved the man slightly and he watched bewildered that she had the audacity to do such a thing. Lucy took a seat opposite of Vinnie at his table and crossed her arms. "Why is she here Vinnie? Why is Rayna really here?" She boldly asked, her jaw set in irritation. Vinnie having set this whole thing up was a serious red flag to her.

Finn and Aidan had gotten pretty far ahead of Conor and Finn was taking great care in taking smaller steps than usual so the man could catch up with them both. He was really beginning to worry as the two continued to walk the dogs, the time was passing rather slowly and Conor still hadn't returned. His anxieties about what could have happened fueled his imagination and made him think of the worst possible scenario. He had hesitated slightly as he was debating on turning around and helping Conor but that's when he heard someone jogging up behind them and was relieved to see Conor catching up. "Jesus Christ Conor...You alright mate?" He asked as he crouched down to pet the pups. The both happily jumped up on the man, appreciating the affection. "Freaks me out when you just disappear like that." He told Conor honestly, his own heart rate had spiked because of it. He bit his lip lightly and didn't like being out in the open any longer.

Once the pups were done being pampered by Conor, they hopped down and began walking forward again, signaling that it was time to continue walking. Samson seemed to be skipping with happiness as he moved to tackle his sister as they walked. Lady growled playfully and pawed at the pup, swiping him to the side.

Giovanni "Angel" Gambino

IMG_0929.JPG

Angel had gotten lost in the lights above them when Sinead fell. He instinctively wrapped his arms around her as she landed into his chest. "Alright, that makes me feel better about myself," he chuckled. He lightly released her, still holding her hand. When Sinead asked him why they were here, he pulled her in closer. "Well, you're a special girl and I thought a night out would be better than our usual string of restaurants." He placed a kiss upon the top of her head. As they soared across the glassy ice, he kept her in the opening of his coat. "Plus, you were running my pockets dry," he joked, squeezing her arms lightly.

Angel had gotten used to the skates, cutting through the glass smoothly. He had his coat wrapped around her and his arms crossed across her chest. As she shifted into him, he felt the metal revolver press against his gut, reminding him this wouldn't last forever. His smile faded slightly as he rested his chin on top of her head. "Remember when I said we should run away together?" He kept his eyes on the horizon, securing his arms around her. "It's still a nice thought," He looked down to her, his face appearing more serious than what was expected.

James clenched his fists as Rayna said Vinnie had brought her to the restaurant. He didn't know enough about the woman and it wasn't that he didn't trust her, but he really didn't trust Vinnie. He decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and hear what she had to say for now. When Rayna said everyone mentions how young she looks, he simply nodded, but his eyes softened ever so slightly. When she said her story was complicated and that she would start from the beginning, he relaxed his shoulders and listening attentively. "Please, do..."

James couldn't help but feel a warmth when she spoke of his father and how she met him. It was strange for him to think of Ronan at least trying to settle with someone, but he always knew it was his father's broken heart that made him unable to commit to a woman since Rayna. It was a trait James took on, until he met Lucy and she made him realise he could be with someone for the long-term.

As Rayna explained that she was forced to return to Italy, his eyes locked with hers. The woman seemed genuine and when she said she didn't want to leave him, it felt like she was being honest. He could only assume his father never got an explanation or the man telling him she'd walked out on them would be easier. James remained silent as Lucy excused herself and the two women got up for a moment. He was too busy trying to process what he'd been told that he didn't have chance to suspect Lucy was going somewhere other than the ladies room. "This is just a big shock to me, Rayna," he told her, his voice now softened. "I've spent the last ten years with no family at all. I never expected anything like this. I'm just... Way out of my comfort zone," he admitted, slowly nodding his head.

James' mind then backtracked to her mentioning she'd trusted Vinnie to keep him safe. "Vinnie?" he asked, letting out a mocking laugh. "Vinnie has done the exact opposite of keeping me safe," he informed her. "My dad didn't have the greatest time after you left and when I was a teenager, he ended up in prison. Vinnie had him murdered in his jail cell." James pretended he had to think of what else the Romano boss had done. "I'm sorry to say, I'm far from a son you can be proud of and I can't tell you I've done much good in my life. I ended up in jail a couple of times and Vinnie had his friends in there beat the crap out of me while I was locked up." He let out a whistle as he realised the evidence was stacking up. "If you want to go for more recent... Well, last year he personally tortured me to punish Lucy..." James looked to Rayna and his face softened as he realised this might be a lot for the woman to take in. "He did not keep me safe," he concluded.

As the waitress passed them, James got her attention and told Rayna to order any drink she wanted.

Vinnie was having a sip of his drink and looked up in time to see Lucy making a beeline for him. He smirked to himself as she barged one of his men aside. When she took a seat opposite him, Vinnie sent her the warmest of smiles. "It's always a pleasure to see you, Lucy," he taunted her, taking another sip of his drink. "Rayna is here because she wants to see her son. I tried to warn her that he's a disappointing waste of space, but she wouldn't listen. Apparently he's family now," he remarked. Vinnie was a very observant man and the ring on Lucy's finger didn't go unnoticed. "So, what's the etiquette here? Does James want me to be Uncle Vinnie or Cousin Vinnie? I'm easy either way. Let me know when you set a date for a wedding and I'll keep the day free," he suggested. "I love weddings!" he cheerfully told her, rubbing his hands together. He knew the woman wasn't here for niceties, but he would let her get to the point in her own time.

Before being grabbed, Athena shrugged him off, "I'm fine really. I just need to finish a few errands.."
Athena nodded along to his words, "You're right." she muttered softly.

The girl whimpered as the grip the man had on her tightened. Out of nowhere, another man came to shove Leo away from the other man that held Athena. It was as if this was a repeat of the last altercation except these were different men. The man that pushed Vinnie was tall and muscular. The man had begun to attack Leo, not like last time but enough to come some damage. Once finished, he would step back. Athena would struggle against the grasp of the man in black, "Tell Vinnie if he wants his precious Athena back, then he's going need to give us 1 million ransom money." The man warned, with tears gathering in Athena's eyes.

The man never left go of her and with that, the two men scattered along with bringing Athena with.

Conor looked up at Finn as he was clearly relieved he'd arrived back in one piece. It was clear to see the anxiety on his cousin's face. Like just watching a murder and helping to dump the body, Conor also felt guilty for worrying his cousins. Conor stood up and place a reassuring hand on Finn's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "I'm sorry, mate. I'm fine. Everything's fine," he assured him. Conor could hardly tell him what he'd just done and he certainly couldn't mention he was helping Alex.

The puppies began pulling to continue walking, so Conor took a position between Aidan and Finn, placing arms around their shoulders for a short time as they walked. "Let's head back home now. I think Lady and Samson have had a fair walk," he decided.

Conor hoped Alex was alright. This was the second time he'd seen her kill a man and he remembered how much it had upset her the first time.

Sinead Sullivan
150931413810510-png.365389

Sinead smiled when Angel told her she was special. With Conor and Lucy actively keeping the Sullivan business afloat, and Shannon clearly favouring Carrick, it felt good to hear someone appreciate her so much. She knew her family tried and they did love her, but they had so many things to worry about that she'd stopped burdening them with her own troubles. She felt like she could tell Angel everything and he still loved her. "Well, I did tell you I'm not cheap!" she reiterated. "But this is fun. I like it."

Sinead could get lost in his warmth as he wrapped his arms around her. She wasn't sure if he felt quite the same, but he made her feel so happy - as happy has she could when some of her heart had been buried with her father.

Angel then mentioned the time he'd suggested they ran away together and she turned her head to look up into his eyes. "It's a lovely thought," she softly told him. "Is that what you want to do?" she seriously asked. Every time she imagined running away and spending her life with Angel, she thought of her family. Conor, Lucy, Finn... everyone. Though she'd always dreamed of moving away to follow her singing dreams, when the opportunity stared her in the face, she was apprehensive. She worried so much for Finn and she wasn't sure how he would feel if she suddenly left them. "I could think about it?" she offered. "I love you so much, Giovanni. You also know how much I love my family..." she said, clearly being torn apart by it all. She just wished she could have both worlds.

Lucy wasn't in the mood for Vinnie's games, she was so happy that James had been reunited with his mother but the circumstances were too dangerous to ignore. She watched Vinnie cooly as he mocked her fiancé and the fact that they were related, seeming to rub it in Lucy's face, her hands clenching as he called James a waste of space. She said nothing as he continued to tease and taunt her. At the mention of the wedding, she looked down at her left hand and moved to cover the ring. It was dangerous for the Romano's to know of such an event, seeing as how the last big event they had ended in her father's death. She couldn't help but feel a little intimidate by the idea of a wedding now, for the reasons of safety. Lucy didn't give Vinnie the reaction she was sure he was looking for, satisfying the sick and twisted need to destroy any light in the Sullivan family.

He mocked her about joining them at the wedding and it struck a cord in her, the reminder that this man was the reason her father wouldn't be there to walk her down the aisle, to walk Sinead down the aisle...that she foolishly played into his little sidekicks tricks. She still felt accountable as well on some part, no matter who told her that it was in the past and that she was forgiven, there would be guilt inside her heart forever. She felt ill in that moment and she was sure that it showed on her face. The next words she chose carefully, "I am sorry Mr. Romano, you may be blood related to my fiancé but you will never be invited to such events," She leaned forward, the emotions clear as day on her face and it was thick in her voice. "Because you killed my father, Angel simply didn't scheme all the plans on his own. You are the reason he won't be there to give me away, to give Sinead away.." Lucy leaned back and fought to keep some composure, clearing her throat in the process.

"This may be very, "un-Sullivan" of me...but another reason I barged over here was to apologize for a mistake I made long ago." It was hard for the blonde to tell Vinnie that she was sorry for killing Gianna, that not a day goes by that she doesn't regret what she had done to her. She didn't deserve it, just like Sinead didn't deserve to be dragged into this mess. "It won't bring her back, but I really am sorry for Gianna...my father warned me not to get involved and I never really understood why. Guess I forgot that actions have consequences.." Lucy didn't meet his eyes, feeling uncomfortable and even questioning why she was apologizing. He had gotten even. She was clearly still devastated by her father's death, but she just couldn't walk away from all this without saying what she felt.

Finn offered his cousin a small smirk as he reassured him that he was okay. Finn knew his cousin well, having been practically like brothers since birth it was easy to tell when something was off. Conor's exterior was collected and happy even, but it definitely didn't meet his eyes the way it should have. Finn tried not to narrow his eyes in suspicion as Conor decided that the pups had a decent walk for the evening and that it was time to head home. Finn was on the fritz tonight so he couldn't have agreed more with his cousin. The walk home was seemingly as pleasant as it had been before, Finn was content watching little Samson try to play with Lady as they walked and the older pup swiping the pup away and occasionally chasing the young for a brief moment. Finn offered small smiles at this, wishing he could be as happy as the pups seemed to be.

No matter what was going on, the pups seemed to be in there own world. They could sense when things were wrong, but they simply didn't possess the brain power to consciously let it effect them, unless it directly affected them. Finn wished he could be that far uninvolved with this whole mess. His face was distant as they continued to walk home, deep in his own bitter thoughts for a while, not even noticing when they finally did arrive at the house.

"Well, that is a shame. I do enjoy a wedding," Vinnie sarcastically remarked. He could see the emotion on her face and heard it too. She spoke about Emmet not being able to give her and Sinead away at their respective weddings. Vinnie sat back and folded his arms. For a while it seemed like he wasn't going to say anything on the matter. He let Lucy go on and she surprisingly apologised for murdering Gianna.

"I must admit, it feels more genuine to hear you apologise for Gianna's death, without a knife being held to your lover's throat," he told her. "Unfortunately, Emmet was not innocent like Gianna was. In business, the man had crossed the line and it was just the way things had to go. He screwed up and there was no turning back from that," he told her, perhaps seemingly indifferent to the matter. "However, Emmet was a decent enough man and I didn't really mind him as a person. I'm sorry he can't be there to watch his daughters get married. I don't like your family, but I do care about tradition. So, like Gianna never got the chance to watch her children get married, I'm sorry Emmet never got to witness the same and that he won't be there to give you away on your big day."

Once they got home, Conor checked his cousins were okay once more before heading upstairs to get out of the stuffy suit he was still wearing. Instead of heading to his bedroom, he headed straight for the bathroom and started running a shoulder. For a time, he stood facing the mirror in something of a trance as he tried to purge his troubles away and put on a brave face for his family. He still couldn't believe he'd stood by and allowed Alex to kill a man, not even once attempting to talk her out of it. Then there was Finn, who he'd unintentionally managed to put on further edge, especially when he was failing so miserably at cheering his cousin up in the first place. His mother was refusing to go to the hospital and he wasn't sure if he could get a doctor to come see her without too many questions being asked.

Conor snapped out of his thoughts and stepped into the cold shower, not even attempting to use the warm water. It was as the chilly water hit him that he finally woke up and cleared his head. But the emptying of some thoughts brought on others. Thoughts of Sinead and that bastard who had hurt her - he'd wanted to kill Steve himself, but someone had beaten him to it. As soon as he'd finished in the shower, Conor dressed in some casual clothes before knocking on Sinead's bedroom door. After finding she wasn't home yet, he made his way outside to ask if she had been home since work and David confirmed she hadn't. This was happening too often. He wondered if he'd been too neglectful of her and she was just staying away to avoid the family's troubles. He knew he needed to make it up to his youngest sister as he missed how close they'd always been in the past.

Conor returned inside and sat in the lounge, deep in thought as he decided to stay home until at least Lucy and James returned. He looked to his two cousins, hoping they were both feeling alright. A smile finally reached his lips when Samson jumped up on the sofa and started climbing all over him for attention. "Woah. Alright, buddy," he said, playfully fighting with the adorable fluffball.

He knew it wouldn't be easy for him either. He basically had an empire to run with clients, bookies, and extortion rackets to hold in order. He couldn't just up and leave town. Although, he was the kind of guy, that if he wanted something, nothing was gonna stand in his way. Angel could feel Sinead start to panic with the idea. He gently rubbed his hands against her shoulders to calm her. "Hey, it's okay, I won't make you choose. As long as you're here, I will be too.

He leaned down to kiss her, slowly rocking back of forth to remain on their skates. The feeling of holding her made him never want to let her go. The thought of how things were going to continue to escalate, made him want to pull Sinead out of her family and away from the gunfire. If only she weren't a Sullivan.

After kissing her, he continued around in the circle with her, lost in thought. He hadn't really thought about where this was going. A gangster like him only ended up in one place, and that was a shallow ditch. Sinead actually had a bright and fulfilling future. The fact that this wasn't going to last forever broke his heart, he just wasn't sure when it was going to end.

Sinead took a deep breath as Angel attempted to calm her. It was a huge thing to just leave her family, but he seemed to understand that, which was a relief. "Thank you, Giovanni," she softly told him, fighting back any emotion that tried to overcome her. Her smile grew with the warmth of his hold and the reassurance of his kiss. "I wish they could all see the person I see. You're so sweet and caring. You make me feel safe," she told him.

Sinead eventually led Angel to the sidelines and she turned so she was facing him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and held him close. She tilted her head upwards and looked to his face as she thought about her next words. "You know so much about me and my family, but I know very little of yours. Do you have a family?" she curiously asked. "I don't mean the Romanos. I mean, a mother? A brother? You never tell me about your past," she sweetly asked, burying her head in his chest in case her questions offended him.

Alexandra watched as Conor quickly left the docks to catch up with his cousins. As she passed the Sergeants car, she felt a pang of guilt hit her but quickly brushed it off and forced herself to keep walking past it and away from the docks. Alex was on high alert as she approached the town, she was constantly looking over her shoulder afraid that the whole thing could be linked back to her, what if he had told someone he was meeting with her? What if someone witnessed it?. She jumped from her thoughts when she heard a gunshot, just around the street from her, followed by a loud voice, who she was almost certain was Leo.
Without so much as a thought, Alex broke into a sprint. Her eyes widened as she turned the corner to see Leo lying on the ground looking hurt. She stopped beside him and dropped to her knee's in one single move, ignoring the pain it caused her as she helped Leo sit up. "Leo? Are you alright?" She asked as she looked him over "what the hell happened?" She questioned , her voice full of concern.

Angel let Sinead lead him to the sidelines, following behind her. As Sinead turned to him in a serious manner, Angel jokingly pretended to be serious as well, putting his hands on his hips. As she wrapped her arms around him, however, he gave in and listened to what she had to say. He was a little taken back by the question, not putting much thought into his family at all. He let go of Sinead, resting against the metal bars of the sidelines.

"Not much to tell," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "I was born to a 17 year old mother and a father I never knew. Never had any siblings, my mom sure learned her lesson after me." He chuckled to himself, a bit of sadness overwhelming his features. "I was never easy on her. I always assumed she was the way she was because she hated me. I hadn't stopped to think about the fact that she was raising a child, young and without any help. My deadbeat dad left all alone to suffer and I think about being in the same room with him and just..." Angel scrunched up his face and clenched his fists. "Kicking the cazzo fuori di lui." He shook his head lightly, looking back to her. "I'm never gonna' be like him. If i'm a father one day, I will always be there, like he wasn't." He ran his hand through Sinead's hair, smiling to her.

Leo struggled onto his hands and knees, spitting out the blood that was forming in his mouth. As he clutched at his battered ribs, he looked at the ground beneath him. He couldn't believe he'd failed again. It seemed like Vinnie was right and he was too weak to be anywhere near Athena. He realised he would have to speak with Vinnie now and face the man to pass on the message. He knew the man would be furious with him. He struggled to get up and rolled over onto his back just in time for Alex to arrive on the scene.

"Alex, I'm sorry. Some men took Athena and I couldn't stop them. I wasn't strong..." He stopped himself as he struggled for air. "They said they want one million, from Vinnie, before they'll let her go. I'm sorry, Alex..."

Alex's eyes widened when Leo told her what had happened "1 million, do they think we're rolling in money" she muttered, this sarcasm was a defense mechanism, she had so much already going through her mind that this news was going to make her crumble. "Fuck" she mumbled more so to herself. She looked over Leo again before looking him in the eye "Dont you dare blame yourself Leo, this is not your fault" she told him in a very stern voice "you's were jumped" she told him with a sigh. Alex slowly got to her feet before helping Leo up, holding her arm around him to give him support if he wanted it. "We have to get you cleaned up and then we'll try sort this" she said softly, giving him a half smile as she began to lead him towards her apartment. She hadnt been home in a while and really needed to check on Rocco, hopefully he hadn't destroyed the place by now, although that was the least of her worries. As they walked, Alex replayed when Leo had told her but all she could think about was when Alena had been taken so many years ago, it hurt her just the same now that Athena may be going through the same treatment.
"Did you get a good look at them?" She asked him suddenly, breaking the silence. "Did anything stick out? Accents, scars?"

Carrick shook his head at her, when she said she hadn't seen him drunk before. "Honestly if you would had seen me, you would be laughing, especially when I wanted to cut off Conor finger after he got a ring stuck on his finger." He explained while laughing a little, mostly because he had found it funny when he remembered what he had done. At least he hasn't fall asleep like the first time he drank some alcohol. That had been very embarrassing to him. "Well I myself could convince one of the doctor to help us out for free but I don't think he would really want to do it." That was true, before his decision to drop out if school, he had met a doctor who was willing to teach him or help him however he could when he wanted but for a certain favor. When she mentioned how he could go back to school, he had shook his head at her. "Not right now, I just feel better knowing I'm close to my family." He had a stern look on his face when she mentioned how she wasn't smart. "Don't say those things Cassie, you're a smart, wonderful and beautiful woman, so don't ever say you aren't smart, I rather be here with you than someone else."

Lucy sat numbly and listened to what he had to say, a firm nod confirming that she understood this. "Can't help but think this isn't ever going to end between our familiar Mr. Romano." She murmured softly. "That any of us can go a single day without some sort of dramatic experience, don't you tire of it?" She wondered out loud. "My family is human you know...despite what you might think. Nobody ever seems to say it, but we are all stuck in this cycle till our either unfortunate or untimely death. Gianna or my father will never see any of their children marry, never live to see their grandchildren. But you wish to yes?" Lucy looked for any kind of confirmation that the man had thought about the future of his own family. It was the only way to get through. If there was one thing she had caught on to, it was that to both sides, family meant everything.

"Hell I'm the first born and I have no idea why this feud has continued on for so long." The blonde was simply making small talk, trying to pick Vinnie's brain. He was a bit of a mystery to a lot of people, unsure of what exactly went through his head. Lucy knew that she had probably pushed her stay and she needed to get up and join James again. "Thank you for your time, Mr. Romano. I will let you enjoy the rest of your evening. But I think there is another thing you should consider. Ronan and Rayna had managed to find some kind of good in one another despite the difference around them...I am sure that this isn't the first time something like that has happened...If it ends up being one of your children for example, would you force them to leave everything they hold dear just because of some silly argument that is most likely not even valid now? I don't think I could do it to my own children, I don't really know anyone who would." With those words, Lucy stood up from the table and sauntered off towards the private table again. The two goons who had been guarding Vinnie stepped out of the way almost immediately as she passed. Lucy was satisfied and content with what she had done. Taking the chance to do something that she was sure no one had tried, appealing to the man's emotions. Sometimes, the best way to fight a war was through words, not weapons.
