Lucy smiled softly as her father joked with her before telling them to round up the others and head out to the car. The kiss to her temple brought her back to when she was a young girl, her father was the only man she had loved unconditionally in her life and looked up to him as the amazing father and husband he was. Looking to James, she had realized that that same unconditionally love she had once felt for just her father had been turned onto James, but in a more intimate sense. She watched as her father went to find her mother and smiled fondly at their relationship. She wished to have that with someone, and as she looked to James, she realized that she might be able to. Somehow, she would figure out how to get out from under Angel's grasp, she had to.

James hugged her and asked her if she was okay. If she were to be brutally honest with him, she would have told him that she was just living, not really feeling anything besides nervousness and stress. But the familiar warm and fuzzy feeling that she gave him allowed her to feel something real for once this past week. Lucy hugged him tightly and smile softly. "I'm okay now...with you here." She murmured gently to him before he released her.

Laughing as he rallied up the troops, they headed out arm in arm towards the car. Lifting her dress slightly to avoid getting it wet from the damp ground, she noticed that the rain had finally stopped for a while and was relieved.

Finn smiled happily at Sinead optimism. She had been hit hard by the recent events and to see her in such good spirits tonight would be refreshing for the whole family. Having heard James call them to get to the car, he laughed at Sinead's whispers. "Oooh I might just go tell them you said that Tink!" He said teasingly before standing and holding a hand out to her. "Come come, tis time for a party!" As he walked with Sinead towards the car he patted Conor and Aidan's shoulders. "Tonight is the night I prove my worth, I shall drink circles around you men." He said confidently before walking out the door.

Alex's short dress hadn't gone by unnoticed by Vinnie, but he was forcing himself to keep quiet on the matter for the sake of a peaceful dinner. Besides, he could mention it to her later. Tonight, he couldn't be happier and who better to share his good mood with than his family. He was certain tonight would be a great night and he was excited for the outcome of it. He listened to his daughter's response and nodded. "Don't waste too much time thinking about it. You don't get anywhere in life by hesitating. If an opportunity arises you grab it and make it yours." He didn't want Alex settling working some part-time job in a greasy diner. She was capable of better.

"Athena!" Vinnie pleasantly greeted the young lady, giving her a warm smile. "You haven't met my cousin Lorenzo yet," he began, before introducing the two to each other. "Athena is practically family," he told Lorenzo. Vinnie's eyes then wandered to Leo briefly, giving the young man an encouraging wink. He listened a little as Lorenzo and Alex conversed, leaving them to chat without interruption.

Leo caught Vinnie's look, but ignored him so he wouldn't feel embarrassed around Athena. "I'm so glad you made it tonight," he told the pretty lady. "I've been getting better... slowly. That night was awful and I'm sorry you had to see it too," he quietly told her. He briefly glanced to Nicolo, having heard rumours about him going on a date with Olivia, he figured that was who he was saving an empty seat for. He then focused back to Athena. "How about you? How are you holding up?" he asked her.

Alexandra nodded at her father "I'll be sure to have an answer tomorrow" she said with a reassuring smile before looking around the restaurant again, she liked the idea of working here, it was a much better establishment and was without a doubt better run but she loved the girls she worked with and the regulars which came in for lunch so she knew it was going to be hard decision to make, however for tonight she was going to push the idea to the back of her mind and focused on it later or tomorrow. When Athena entered the room, Alex looked in her direction and smiled, she would talk to her later properly to make sure that she was ok, as she scanned the room, Alex's eyes caught on Leo and she sent him a reassuring smile before taking a sip of her drink.
When Lorenzo sat down beside her, Alex turned to him with a friendly smile playing on her lips. While he had been living with them, the past couple of days Alex had not really spoken to him much due to her work schedule and her adventures at night. When he asked if she was adventurous a grin broke out on her face. "I'm very adventurous" She agreed "there's nothing better than seeing a new place or exploring unfamiliar Territory". At the mention of Tuscany, her eyes lit up and she was clearly very engaged in the conversation "Oh do tell me about your time there, I've never got to have my own little explorations there" She said before taking a sip of her wine.

Lorenzo glanced at the pair, Athena and Leo, giving them a friendly smile and a wave. They seemed preoccupied, as was he, so the greeting continued no further.

Turning back to Alex, he simpered as her interest grew, glad he was able to connect with his niece. “My time there? Alexandra I lived there for 19 years!” His Tuscan flairboance clearly showing, but he had a wide grin. “It is spectacular! It is the prettiest countryside known to mankind I believe. And the people are just as great as myself.” A smirk at the last part, he sipped his scotch.

Have you been to the west coast? I’ve spent most of my time in America there. Wait. Have you even left the country..?”

Emmet Sullivan

Emmet moved his hand to Shannon's hair, catching a couple of loose strands, before tucking them behind her ear. "It's good to be back, love. Sleeping alone was like a knife to the heart." He kissed her one last time, smiling down to her. "C'mon, we have guests to entertain." He winked to her before putting his arm around hers and leaving the bedroom. He was in no rush, smiling as they moved outside. The limo was already waiting for them. Emmet nodded to Conor, who was in the back of the limo, a smile proving that there was no place he'd rather be. He escorted Shannon to the limo, holding the door open for her. Once they were all inside, Emmet climbed in as well.

********

jumanamain480.jpg
It was about a half-hour drive to the location, giving everyone in the family plenty of time to catch up. The limo arrived at the restaurant just as the sun was beginning to set behind the water. "Alright, everyone out." Emmet said. As the chauffeur opened the door, the large family climbed out of the limo. The young children ran to the front of the restaurant, laughing and skipping along. Emmet stayed in the back of the crowd with Shannon and Conor, still engulfed in their conversation, which was held throughout the duration of the car ride. "I still remember your eighteenth," Emmet told Conor, reminiscing, "It was right after Sinead's sweet sixteenth. Remember Buttercup? That beautiful horse we got her for her birthday? Well," He looked to Shannon, reminding her of the story as well, "Apparently your mother and I set the bar a little too high, because that morning you jumped out of bed and ran outside, expecting to see a brand new car with a bow on it. Apparently socks weren't the appropirate present." He started to laugh, tearing up a little, almost unable to finish the story. "I just handed you a pair of socks, it had a bow on it and everything. I have never received such a murderous stare in my life. I was sure you were gonna' find someway to strangle me with them."

The glass doors of the restaurant were held open for them. There was a bar in the center of the room, a small floor elevated around it for the seating area. They were escorted up the two steps to their seat, a round cushion with a table in the middle. They were immediately met with their extended family who were already seated. They shot up to their feet to greet them. After everyone was aquinted, they squeezed Emmet into the center of the seating, everyone sitting around him.

Conor and Shannon kept back with Emmet as the man told the story about the present he got him for his eighteenth. "I remember it too," he said, pretending to still be angry. "Sinead got a horse and I got socks! That scarred me for life, I'll have you know. I really did want to strangle you," he joked. "I wanted to be angry with Sinead, but that adorable face of hers just melted me. Still, what a little daddy's girl, huh?" he remarked. He meant it all in jest. As far as Conor was concerned, Sinead deserved all of the good things she'd been given. She and Carrick were always the innocent ones of the family and deserved to be spoiled.

When they entered the room, Shannon linked her arm with Emmet's. Conor followed behind, letting out an impressed whistle as he scanned the fancy setup with his eyes.

Sinead Sullivan

vhg-png.355040

Once people were settled, Sinead approached Emmet and gave him a tight hug. "Happy Birthday, Daidi," she sweetly told him, before placing a kiss on his cheek. He might be a little confused to see her nimble frame quickly rushed away in her high heeled shoes. She only stopped when she reached the stage and carefully ascended the stairs. She took a deep breath as she took the microphone from the stand. She scanned the room, taking in everyone watching. It was only when she saw Emmet's and Shannon's eyes fixed on her that she blushed. "Um..." she began. clearing her throat. "This is for my family, even Conor who I foolishly let talk me into doing this at all. Mostly, it's for my Daidi on his birthday." She took a deep breath as the pianist began to play and soon enough, she was in her own little world, belting out the lyrics to a love song about family. Those who hadn't seen her perform before may be surprised by the powerful voice that came from sweet Tinkerbell. The overwhelming mixture of the love of her family and the heartbreak she was suffering seemed to mix together with surprisingly positive results, ones which would send a wave of emotions throughout the room.

When the sound came to an end, she closed her eyes for few seconds as she anticipated their reactions. She opened them and shyly replaced the microphone on the stand.

"WOO! GO SINEAD!" Conor embarrassingly yelled out and clapped to his little sister. He knew how nervous she'd been about singing in front of family, so he wanted her to realise there had been no need to be scared.

James Porter
hh-png.355018

Since they got out of the car, James was on high alert, though he managed to hide it mostly well. As he sat next to Lucy, he spoke into her ear. "You did an amazing job with this, love." Once again, he found himself focusing on everything around the room. Looking for balconies, hiding spots, escape routes. It wasn't until Sinead spoke that he fixed his eyes on the stage where Sinead was standing. When she started singing, he found his attention was focused on her performance alone. He'd heard her sing many times when he used to keep watch over her at the jazz club and he loved her voice just as much then. She didn't appreciate him babysitting her, but he appreciated getting to listen to her sing while he was working. He was so glad to finally hear her sing again, after all of the awful things she'd gone through over the last couple of months. It made him genuinely moved to hear her still doing what made her happy.

Emmet cheered with Conor, standing up and clapping. He squeeze out of his seat to meet her halfway. "My god, Tinkerbell. When you get signed, the world won't even know what hit it." He grabbed her face and kissed her right on the cheek. They both walked back to their seats, Emmet moving back to the center. The family continued to conversate, buying up all the bourbon the restaurant had to offer. Towards the end of the meal, Emmet raised his empty glass and tapped his fork against it. "Excuse me everyone." The side conversations died down, allowing Emmet to speak.

"I just wanted to thank everyone for coming just to rub my old age in my face." He got a laughter from the crowd, laughing a little bit himself before continuing his speech. "In all seriousness, I have been gone from my family for a long time, due to business. When I came back, I was... Well... I was expecting everything to be different. Instead, they all welcomed me back with open arms, with the amount of love no single man deserves. As you all know, we have recently been faced with adversity, but this family has proven time and time again that there is nothing we can't overcome together. Family doesn't have to be exclusive to blood, it is anyone you accept in your heart as your own," He was clearly paying homage to James in that line. "From what i've learned from my 45 years on this earth, you will eventually hit a wall in your life. You will fall and you will doubt yourself. In your time of need, however, family will always be there for you. For in the end, nothing is more important than family. So, to my loving wife, Shannon, my two beautiful daughters, Lucy and Sinead, my equally spoiled sons, Conor and Carrick, and to all of my family. May you all live a happy, fulfilling life and remember, we will always be here for you, to catch you when you fall." He raised his glass with a cheers, causing an applause throughout the restaurant.

Alex bit her lip when he mentioned living there for 19 years, her eyes lighting up when he talked about how beautiful the countryside was, a smirk played on her lips at his modesty but she let that slide without a sarcastic response. "so why did you leave?" She asked curiously. Alex was never one to beat around the bush, nor did she think about how there are some questions that may be personal, it was a habit of hers since a young age to ask personal questions without thinking about it.
When he asked if she had been to west coast Alex shook her head "No, Ive been to Italy a few times when I was younger but no I havnt really left this town" she said sadly "Im working and saving, I plan to travel" she admitted with a sheepish grin

Aidan Sullivan

Aidan chuckled at Conor's mock reaction. "I'm happy to make you proud big cousin." He replied with a grin. The young man wasn't exactly expecting on meeting a girl tonight but he knew that he could trust his cousin help him out should it happen. Even if he's someone who can't tie a tie properly. Once James called everyone to get in the car, Aidan headed with Conor to the vehicle. He chuckled at Conr' joking.
"Coming Sargent Porter, sir yes sir." He whispered, putting his hand to his forehead, military style with a grin.
Aidan sat in the back of the limo with Conor.
Once they reached their destination everything was settled, Aidan spoke to his uncle, "Happy birthday Uncle Em." He praised with a beaming smile. He watched Sinead perform on stage and let a smile show up. As she performed, Aidan's mind was blown. In all the years he'd known the girl, he didn't know she could sing like
that. Upon finishing, Aidan cheered Sinead on along with Conor, probably seeming embarrassing to the girl but it was only because Aidan was so proud of the usually shy girl for getting out of her comfort zone and conquering her fears.

Athena Archer

Athena directed her attention to Lorenzo as Vinnie introduced them to each other. The young woman flashed a friendly smile, "It's nice to meet you." She greeted. She tucked a tendril of hair behind her ear. The man then continued a conversation he was having with Alex. The girl didn't catch the wink Vinnie gave Leo as she took a glance at the menu on the table. Even the menu looked quite prestigious. She noticed there an empty seat next to Nicolo, if the rumors were true then he was waiting for Olivia. The girl thought the two were quite adorable together.

Her eyes focused on Leo as he conversed with her. "Me too. " She said with a faint smile. Athena loved to spend time with the family she's known for most of her life but she had to admit, knowing Leo would be attending made her doll up a little bit more than usual. Though it's only been a couple weeks that she's known Leo, she missed spending time with the young man.
Athena lightly frowned at his next sentence but it was gone in an instant. "You don't have to be sorry. It wasn't your fault." Athena spoke softly in an gentle, assuring tone. She was not going to accept Leo blaming himself for not one minute.

When Leo asked her how she was doing, Athena let a low sigh out. "I've alright. I've been better though. It'll take some time before I'm one-hundred percent okay but I'm alright for now." Thena voiced, focusing her brown eyes on Leo.

Athena changed the subject with a bright smile, "My cat Indie has been a great emotional support partner. She's a great cuddler." She playfully joked, a giggle escaping her mouth.

It was then that the waiter came with a plate of bread-sticks. He set it down on the center of the round table. The waiter looked to be around Athena's age with tanned skin and emerald green eyes. Short wavy blonde curls were on his head. "Hello, I'm Elliot. I'll be your server this evening. What can I get you guys tonight?" He questioned with a cheery smile.
He asked for everyone's order. When he got to Athena however, he flashed her a little-too friendly smile. "Now what can I get you dolly?" He asked with a smile sent her way.
Athena looked to the waiter, "Um I think I'll get the Tuscan macaroni and a coke." Thena responded.
"Alright. Tuscan macaroni and a coke for the pretty lady." Elliot spoke, sending a flirty wink her way.

Lucy quietly observed as Sinead sang, she loved her sisters voice. It was always so very comforting to her. But something about it felt so final that Lucy felt like she couldn't relax. Her eyes continued to watch her sister, but would occasionally scan around them looking for anything out of the ordinary. Once the performance was over, she had hardly noticed for she was too focused on her own thoughts. So she ended up clapping a bit later than others to try and make up for the fact that she neglected to give her sister the props she deserved. Once everyone was seated again, her father stood to give a speech.

She had always admired his way with words, he always knew exactly what to say in times of great stress. He was the calm before the storm. If the Romano's hadn't been so stubborn in making peace, perhaps there wouldn't be a storm to even mention. But she knew what Vinnie's intentions were with her father and the future didn't look so great. Lucy forced down a glass of bourbon, not allowing herself to have anymore until the night was over and done with. We will always be here for you, to catch you when you fall... His last words in the speech ringing in her ears, and she couldn't help the sudden wave of emotion that hit her as soon as he finished. Applauding with the rest of them, she let her eyes look to her lap as she modestly tried to wipe the tears that had fallen from her eyes.

Finn was amazed with it all. The Venue, the performance his amazingly talented cousin gave and the speech his uncle gave just then. He applauded and smiled happily. It was nice to see all the family together again without any worries or cares...that was until he saw Lucy's face, her eyes blurry with tears as if she were deeply saddened by something. Finn felt like he was intruding on a private moment so his eyes looks away from her and towards Conor and Aidan. Noticing the one drink in Conor's hand he chuckled and whistle to grab his attention. "Oui! Only one drink eh? Not the Conor I remember." He egged on his cousin with a teasing smile while the rest of the family casually conversed.

Sinead Sullivan

When Emmet met her halfway between the stage and their table, Sinead felt a little overwhelmed but mostly happy he liked her song. When he kissed her cheek, a lone tear rolled down her face as she realised she had her dad back home now. When she sat down, she lowered her head and kept a little quiet as she made a convincing job of looking like she was eating. Really, she was just moving the food around her plate, having had no appetite for over a week.

When he father made his speech, Sinead fixed her eyes on him and she gave him her full attention. She loved his words and was so glad that of all the fathers in the world, Emmet was her dad.

Conor Sullivan
hnbkjhb-png.355015

Conor watched Emmet and Sinead, feeling happy that his old man was home to help coax his sister out of the sad shell she'd been in lately. As he listened to his dad's speech, he found it quite touching and encouraging. After all he'd done and failed to do during Emmet's absence, it felt good to know he still had his father's love and support. There were cracks in their home, but Conor felt his family were at their strongest right now and they could only keep getting better from here. Conor was willing to do everything his father asked of him to knock the Romano down.

He looked to Finn and raised his glass, with a sarcastic smile. "I have to keep my other hand free so I can slap you silly, mate. Once the formalities are out of the way, you're on!" he said, challenging his cousin to a drink-off. "Prepare to lose."

James Porter
hh-png.355018

Despite his applauding for Sinead, James was not oblivious to Lucy's delayed reaction. He kept an open-mind, pretending he believed she'd just been so caught up in the song that she was too blown away to immediately clap. James then went on to listen to Emmet's speech, not missing the homage he made to him. James glanced away for a brief moment, feeling rather touched by that acceptance. Maybe he really could have a family, despite always intending on keeping himself distant and uncompromised.

After the speech was done, James folded his arms and leaned sideways towards Lucy. Her tense state was not going unnoticed by him. "You know, the party is a success, so you can stop worrying now," he lightly suggested to her. Deep down, he didn't believe that was what was bothering her anymore. Which only meant there was something else wrong or something she wasn't telling him. "Remember, you can be honest with me, no matter how harsh the truth," he quietly added.

Leo briefly looked around the table as the others conversed, noticing Olivia still wasn't present so sent Nicolo a reassuring nod. From what he'd heard, the two had hit it off at the theatre, but he also knew Olivia did a lot of behind the scenes work for Vinnie so perhaps she'd been delayed.

When Athena told him he didn't have to be sorry, he nodded once. "I'm just glad we can finally have a relaxing evening tonight. We'll get past this, I'm sure of it," he told her. Vinnie was in the building, as were Lorenzo and Fortuna, so Leo figured they were probably in the safest place possible It was usually Vinnie's attacks they got accidentally caught up in anyway.

Talk then turned to Athena's cat and he grinned as she spoke of how cuddly and supportive her pet was. "Animals are just the best, aren't they?" he asked. "I don't have any pets, but there is a stray cat that sometimes hangs around my street, so I give him a treat every once in a while."

Leo stopped speaking and sat back to allow the waiter to place some bread-sticks down on the table. "Can I just get the chicken risotto and a glass of red wine, please?" he asked. Leo then watched on curiously to see what Athena was going to order, raising an eyebrow as the waiter referred to her as "dolly". It was probably just the guy being friendly, but his smile just seemed a little too much. Then the guy winked at her and Leo sat up, straightening his posture. Once the waiter had gone, Leo looked back to Athena. "He seemed pretty friendly Do you know him?" he asked, his voice still friendly.

The cake was being brought out at this point, 45 candles aligning the edges. The waitress began to sing happy birthday as she walked up the steps to them.

Giovanni "Angel" Gambino

IMG_0805.JPG
Angel walked out from behind the bar, uninvited. A heavy trench coat covered his shoulders, a fedora covering his head, and a black bandana tied tightly around his nose. He fast walked up to the Sullivan table, his arm shoving past the waitress and causing her to drop the cake on the floor. His gloved hand brandished a 1911 from the inside of his coat. He quickly aimed down to Emmet's chest, hatred in his eyes. The first round shook the crowd, no one aware of what was going on. Angel rapidly discharged four more rounds into his chest, the steaming hot shells falling to the floor. He quickly readjusted his aim to James, firing off a round into his right shoulder, disabling his ability to move for his holster gun. He then aimed to Conor, the bullet striking just below his collarbone. Angel turned around, causing his trench coat to sway behind him. The smoke trail followed his pistol as he walked back down the stairs. As he moved for the exit, he twirled the pistol off of his fingers, allowing it to bounce off the floor. He then pushed his way through the glass doors. As he walked outside, the back of the ford opened up for him. He climbed inside the back doors, allowing the gangsters to close it for him. The tires spun in place for a second, before excelling the car deep into the darkness.

Emmet laughed along with his family, sharing in the memories and stories that were being passed around. He heard the familiar birthday song and looked to see the waitress bringing up the cake. He looked back to Conor, jokingly shaking his head. When he looked back, however, he stared into the barrel of a pistol. He had no time to react before the first bullet struck him. It dug it's way into his chest cavity, pinning him against the wall. The next four bullets also found a home inside of his chest, the last two ripping out of his back and digging into the cushion behind him. He looked to Angel, confusion in his dying eyes. He let out a cough, feeling the blood rushing to his mouth. His ears began to ring, unable to hear the next two gunshots which would strike James and Conor. He attempted to stand up. His blood streaked up the couch as he stood above the table. His legs quickly gave out, causing him to collapse. This caused the table to flip and for him to fall, sending glasses and silverware across the room. Emmet laid lifeless on the floor, dead before he hit the ground.

Lucy was just about to reassure James that she was alright, that is was merely nerves from being out in the open with everyone. It would seem understandable enough, seeing as how almost every date they've been on ended in a blood bath. She was interrupted however, when the waitress began to bring out the cake. Her eyes turned in the direction of the waitress, and that's when everything turned to chaos. It was so quick that everyone was unable to react at first, but Lucy shot up from her seat almost immediately upon recognizing just who was behind the fedora, trench coat and mask getup. Angel Her mind confirmed for her. Before James and Conor could do anything, he fired at them mercilessly. Lucy looked to James with wide eyes, before turning to see her father trying to stand up...as if he ever had a chance.

When he came crashing to the ground, taking the table and everything with it. Lucy could hear the screams of horror, the cries coming from all around. The shock of the whole situation that was clearly her fault not allowing her to react in such a manner. Her blood burned as she realized that she had been tricked and lied to. He had no intentions of not killing her father. He had used her to get him here, having her think that she was doing the right thing and yet she ended up with the same result. The world around her spun as everyone got up quickly to move around Emmet's body and Finn and a few abled men who hadn't been shot went running after the gunman.

Lucy struggled to get out from the table but after crawling on her hands and knees not caring if the glass cut her up, she quickly moved to her father's body. As her eyes took in his lifeless form, she fell to her knees as sobs built up in her chest. This was all her fault, she should have never agreed, she should have told James about the plan! She could have prevented this! Her hands when to her mouth as she covered it, muffling the sobbing and screaming that came from her mouth. "I'm sorry...I'm so sorry.." She continued to chant out.

When the waitress came out with the cake and singing to his father, Conor looked to his old man and laughed at him. But his face dropped as a figure suddenly appeared, shoving past the waitress before firing multiple shots in his father's chest. Conor froze in shock for the briefest time, but long enough for him to hear another bullet aimed at James' shoulder. Snapping out of it, Conor's instant reaction was to lunge at the shooter and he was just about to when he heard a final gunshot. The bullet ripping into him, below the collarbone, jolted him backwards. He stumbled out of his seat, clutching at his shoulder. He looked around just in time to see his father collapse, falling lifeless onto the floor with blood flooding out of his chest and mouth. He looked down to see Lucy and Shannon who were down on the floor by Emmet. He saw Shannon look up at him and the devastation in her eyes confirmed the worst to him. "Oh no... Please, no..." he spoke quietly to himself. By now he'd become numb to the pain caused by the gunshot and for what felt like an eternity, he just stood, frozen in stunned shock. This wasn't supposed to happen. They were going to work together and fix everything. Make a better life for the rest of the family. This didn't feel real to him at all. It couldn't be.

Shannon Sullivan
bhj-png.355014

As soon as the first few bullets were fired at her husband, Shannon instinctively fumbled for her handbag to retrieve her own gun. The panic and shock made her unable to perform such a basic task and when she looked back up, she saw the love of her life fall to the ground. Along with Lucy, Shannon rushed over to him and knelt by his side. She placed her hand at the back of his skull and lifted his head from the ground. "Emmet!" she yelled. She knew he was dead and the brief look she gave to those closeby would tell them too, if they had any doubts. "Emmet..." she sobbed. She heard Lucy's voice nearby, but it barely registered with her. She leaned her face close to her husband's as she kept his head raised. "Mr. Sullivan, you wake up right now," she whispered to him. There was a huge rage within her, but right now her grief was doing a good job of fending it off. "We need you, damn it," she said, almost struggling to breathe beneath her cries.

Sinead Sullivan

Sinead was in one of her daydreams when the waitress brought the cake out. She was enjoying the fun atmosphere but she just wished she had it in her to be upbeat too. She did, however, smile to herself as she thought of how proud her dad had been of her singing. When she heard the gunshots, she flinched and automatically cowered, hiding her her face behind her hands and letting out a surprised yep. More loud bangs were heard and she tightly closed her eyes, hoping it wasn't happening if she couldn't see it. The gunshots ceased but the cries and panic surrounded her. She moved her arms away from her face and saw her father fall to the ground, blood pouring from his chest. But it would be okay. He was her Daidi and he was invincible. She got up from her seat, noticing James and Conor were also injured, but they were still standing. She would help her father stand too.

As she stepped forward to approach her dad, she saw the pool of blood surrounding him. She could see the severity in her mother's and sister's faces. "No, he's okay..." she began. As she was about to crawl down to help Emmet get back up, Conor intercepted her, placing his bloodstained hand on her shoulder. When she tried to fight him, she fell into him, her face burying into her taller brother's chest. "Move, Conor," she tried to fight him, getting his blood on her face and clothes in the process. When she heard him say their dad was dead, she stumbled backwards and fell into one of the seats. She froze for a moment as it sunk in that her father was gone. "NOOOOO!" she let out a blood-curdling scream and stood back up. She stumbled away from her brother, placing her hands to her chest as it felt like her bones were caving in, crushing her heart. As she tried to run away, her legs buckled beneath her and she fell down onto her hands and knees. She didn't even try to get back up, instead, she just curled up on the floor, her loud sobbing taking all of the energy out of her.

Lucy watched as her mother begged her father to wake up. It was useless, he was already long gone. Slowly, Lucy stood from her knelt position and stumbled slightly. She blinked a few times as her vision was blurry and thick with tears. The anger shook from her as she willed herself to find the other men who had tried to go after the gunman. She wasn't sure exactly how she was able to get outside but when she did, the cool rain felt surreal. Finn turned around as he ordered a few of the men to check the perimeter, "Luce, fucking jesus I am so sorry." He said meeting her and grabbing her shoulders.

Lucy felt as though Finn wasn't actually there, that none of this was real. It had to be another one of her nightmares. She would wake up any moment to James trying to soothe her the best he could and she would eventually fall back asleep and see her father in the morning. "Luce?" Finn asked softly as he saw the blank stare that his cousin was giving him. "This is all my fault Finn.." She had to tell someone, anyone! The guilt was eating her from the inside out and she felt as though she couldn't breathe. Her heart raced at an abnormal and unsteady pace and her breaths came quick. "Lucy you can't blame yourself for this...you didn't know." Finn tried to rationalize with her as she suddenly leaned against him. Her legs gave out as she went into hysterics. "He said he wouldn't! He said he would leave him alone! This is all my fault! I killed him!!" Lucy cried out as the rain seemed to fall down harder completely soaking the pair. "HE WOULD STILL BE HERE IF I HADN'T BEEN SO FUCKING BLIND!"

"Everything I love dies, everything I touch dies! I killed him Finn, my father is dead because of me!!" She screamed at him over the roaring of the rain. Her head was pounding and the entire building was spinning around her again, she felt uncontrollable, like something finally snapped inside of her. The blow was so intense that her knees buckled underneath her, Finn caught her when she fell but she didn't deserve it. "I'm so sorry dad.." She continued to chant as she rocked herself slightly.

James wasn't as shocked by the sound of gunshots as most around him were. His head shot around to see Emmet being piled with bullets. James was too far to shield his boss with his own body. He quickly turned back to the shooter and looked the man deep in the eyes. He recognised those eyes and would likely keep them at the forefront of his mind, should he survive tonight to get the chance to rip them out of the man's skull. As he was about to reach for his own gun, he felt the bullet rip into his shoulder, making him unable to complete the task. He clutched at his shoulder as another bullet was fired at another target, Conor. James got out of his seat, but saw Finn, David and some of the others run after the shooter. James turned to see Emmet collapse onto the ground. He took a step back as a lump formed in his throat. He didn't need anyone's confirmation, he was certain his boss was dead. He felt his eyes filling up as he realised the man he'd known for so long was gone. After the kind and welcoming words Emmet had given him this evening, it was an even bigger blow. This was the only chance he'd had for happiness, but now Emmet was dead and the man's family was in turmoil. He bit his lip, feeling like he wasn't permitted to grieve or cry, despite how deeply this would affect him. He'd failed Emmet, Lucy, Sinead, everyone. He should have stayed focused and not been distracted by trying to be one of the family. Hearing Sinead's devastation was too much. If that scumbag was still outside, he wanted at him. James turned and rushed in the direction he'd seen Finn and David go in. He was soon stopped when David approached him and told him the shooter had escaped. They were all too late.

James continued to clutch at his shoulder as he looked around, realising Lucy had left the room. He was about to look for her when David got in his way and forced him to sit down so he could get his wound tended to. "Fucking hell, David. It's nothing. I'm fine," he protested, the anger clear in his voice. "Every fucker involved in this will die. I should have been faster and killed the bastard when I had the chance. I had multiple fucking chances." Secretly, James had no doubts that this was Angel.

As their food was being served Olivia entered the restaurant, closing up her umbrella as she did. She was certain someone had been following her on her way to the dinner, so she'd taken much longer getting there as she'd continously detoured until sure she'd thrown the unknown man off the scent. She couldn't tell Vinnie else he'd stop letting her hang out with the family if he thought she was going to blow her cover. "Sorry I'm late, everyone. I had a wardrobe malfunction," she said with a wink. She spotted an empty seat by Nicolo and sat next to him. "Did you miss me, dear?" she playfully asked him. She caught the waiter's attention and ordered something light to eat, not minding that the rest were already about to eat.

"We'll, isn't this nice?" Vinnie spoke up. "A relaxed and peaceful meal, all together." He tried a bite of his meal and smiled. "This food is wonderful," he cheerfully added. If things had gone as planned, the Sullivans were having the worst family dinner. Good. Now they will know how it feels.

Finn let Lucy fall apart in his arms, the things she was saying didn't make sense to him...he wasn't sure who he was and why Lucy believed that this was all her fault. After a few long moments, she had hyperventilated and actually passed out in his arms. "Fuck." Finn gasped out before holding the girls lifeless body. After 3 minutes she came to and Finn had to lift Lucy from her kneeling position into his arms. As he carried her bridal style back towards the inside of the building, he noticed the look on her face. It was completely blank now, more than it had been before. There was no trace of sadness or anger in her. It was like she wasn't actually there. "Luce?" He asked softly and she just shifted her head from his shoulder to stare at him, letting him know that she could hear him.

Lucy had nothing left to say. The pain in her chest was painful and when she tried to speak, no words came. She was neither sad nor angry. She was alive but dead. Merely existing in her current body in that moment. The warmth from the restaurant warmed her from the cold rain, but she still continued to shiver as Finn found James and David. He set Lucy beside James. "Lucy, say something." Finn said again to her but the blonde only stared at him. "She passed out and woke up like this." Finn told James as he waved a hand in front of Lucy's face. She didn't react to him or the hand, her eyes didn't even follow it. "She's in shock."

Carrick had been looking at everything that was happening with a small smile the time. Heck he had been amongst the first to start clapping after hearing Sinead sing but than everything had gone to shit. He had been frozen in fear when he saw the guy with him, he hasn't been able until to move until he had heard the third gun shot. The first thing that he had done was push Aidan down so nothing would happen to either of them. At least it was like that until he had come out of hiding, seeing his dad down on the floor, he had stood still. He wasn't able to move at all. "Fathe... Dad... Athair." He whispered, once he got hold of his body back. He slowly walked toward his dad, with fear taking hold every step he took.

"That should hold for now, until the real doctors arrive," David said as he finishing patching James up, used to tending to gunshot wounds by now. David saw Conor nearby and rushed over to check on him. When David left, he paved the way for James to see Finn and Lucy approaching. Lucy was placed beside him. James looked to Finn as he explained she'd passed out and was now in shock. "That's no surprise," he replied to Finn. The poor young woman had just lost her father. Luckily, Lucy was sat on his uninjured side, so James placed his arm around her, pulling her in close. "Lucy, love," he said, leaning his head forward so he could look at her blank face. "Talk to me, Lucy. Or don't, but at least acknowledge you hear me." He placed a kiss on her forehead. "I'm not going anywhere. I've got you and I'll do what I can to help you," he reassured her. Things were going to be tough for everyone and he'd make damn sure Lucy got through this.

Conor was sat on the floor where Sinead was curled up crying. He pulled her a little towards him, her body was limp as she switched off from everything around her, mentally and physically. David was attempting to fix up Conor's wound and make him sit up at the table, but he refused and made David do it from where he was or just let him bleed. Conor lifted Sinead's head and rested it on his leg, so he could reach down to gently stroke her hair. Seeing his little sister like this seemed to make it easier for him to block out his own grief, for now. Sinead had been on the edge for weeks and he was certain this would be the final blow. He knew he needed to find strength from somewhere if he was going to keep everyone together. It then dawned on him that his mother, Lucy, Sinead, Carrick, and everyone else, would be relying on him to keep the family propped up. Right now, he didn't think he was capable. He was going to fail them all.

Shannon Sullivan

Shannon looked up to see Carrick nearby. She back to Emmet once more, looking at the face of the love of her life. She knew she had to be strong, like always, but she wasn't sure how she would ever get over losing her husband. They were so perfect for each other and every minute with him was always a breath of fresh air. Nobody ever made her feel as good as Emmet had. When she had to keep a stern and strong face around the kids, she'd always been able to drop the mask and show weakness to her husband. She wasn't sure how she could keep being the strong woman her kids had grown to believe she was.

Shannon saw Carrick approached and this prompted her to gently placed Emmet's head back down on the floor. She slowly got up onto her feet and approached her youngest son. "Come on," she said, pulling him in for a hug. She could see how afraid the young lad was.

Aidan Sullivan

Aidan clapped after Emmet's speech. A small gentle smile appearing, happy that his favorite uncle was back home. It was great to spend time with family.
Family was the one thing that Aidan could always count on. "So how does it feel being a old man now?" Aid asked the birthday man with a playful grin on his face.
Little did he know that those would be the last words he would would speak to his uncle.

The boy had been chattering along with everyone else, partaking in some laughter when he heard the gunshot. Turning his head, he saw that Emmet, had been shot. But then he was shot a couple more times.
He watched as his dear uncle fell to the ground. "No." he whispered under his breath. This can't be happening. Shannon had gotten down on the floor next to the fallen body of Emmet and she glanced up at everyone with a look that confirmed his worst nightmare. Aidan was frozen, beyond shocked. But the sound of poor Sinead's cried was what did for him. He bit his lip, trying desperately to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall. He clenched his fists, looking down. He was struck with grief, saddened, and enraged. He just knew that the Romanos had something to do with this. The only reason that Aidan knew was because he worked for the Sullivans for quite a while before taking this break to focus on school. Aid was devastated, it was in his eyes. He was fighting tears but he was slowly crumbling with each second. Emmet's been there for Aidan for all his life. He was the perfect uncle, when his parents divorced, he would escape over to his uncle's to just talk and even fish.

Athena Archer

When Leo told her that they would get through the catastrophe, Athena lightly nodded her head. She was glad that she would finally get the chance to spend time with the male in a while. Thena figured being that Vinnie was around, the two would be the protected.

She smiled as went on to comment on her previous statement of her beloved feline. "They sure are." Athena replied, agreeing. Animals were just one of the things that brought her intense joy. Thena listened as he spoke of a stray cat that he often gives treats to. She softly formed a smile, "There's a stray dog that often wanders outside of my apartment. When she first came around, she was pregnant with and the poor thing was extremely skinny. It broke my heart. I gave her food everyday and thankfully she was healthy when she had her puppies a couple weeks ago." She spoke, a relieved smile on her lips.
"I have thought of bringing them inside my apartment but my landlord doesn't allow dogs" Athena said, a frown showing up on her face.

The interaction with the waiter was interesting. The girl was oblivious to these sort of things. Flirts went way over her head until it was way in her face.
She turned her attention back on Leo once the waiter had gone. "I don't know him. He seems pretty nice." Athena voiced, grabbing a breadstick from the plat and taking a bite.

It took Lucy a bit to register who exactly had put their arm around her, but James' familiar and soothing voice graced her hearing. The comforting kiss to her forehead seemed cause her shoulders to relax slightly but she still couldn't find her voice to speak. His voice sounded as if it were underwater and a low ringing noise echoed in her ears. He reassured her that he had her, and that he wasn't going anywhere. Lucy's head slowly moved to look into his eyes, blinking to let him know that she had heard him. Her eyes then glanced to his shoulder and she lethargically lifted a hand to rest a few inches below the wound. Her face was blank but she was concerned for him, not being able to express it on her features, she felt disconnected from her body.

Finn watched the pair for a moment before heading off to see if there was anything more he could do to help his family. The shock of the situation hadn't exactly hit him yet, he was sure he would be able to fall apart in the comfort of his own room, but for now there was work to be done and people to help. Walking towards Sinead and Conor, he took in the poor girls appearance and knelt down beside them. Looking to Conor, he placed a hand on his arm lightly. "I am so sorry Conor...Sin...he was a great man." Looking to Sinead, he noticed that both sisters were in the same shape. "Its going to be okay." He whispered lightly and looked around the room at everyone. "We will get through this..." His words held little confidence.

Nicolo sat at the table quietly listening in to the conversations going on around him as he drank his beer. When he heard someone approaching the table, Nicolo turned and caught sight of Olivia, he couldnt help the smile that took over his lips. He looked her over before she sat beside him "Well you look lovely as always" he complimented her before a playful smirk took over his features "Oh terribly, I couldnt even eat" he motioned to his untouched food, ignoring the fact that it had only arrived seconds before Olivia arrived, before picking up his pint "I was relying on my pint to get me through the thought that you mightnt show" he said in a playful manner before taking a sip of his drink, replacing it back on the table before he began to eat his food. While he'd never admit it, he was glad Olivia had shown and seeing her walk in was like a relief off his chest

James felt Lucy's shoulder relax every so slightly and he made sure to keep her close. When she looked into his eyes and blinked, he quickly nodded his head. "I hear you, sweetheart," he reassured her. When she reached her hand out and touched him a few inches below his wound, he did the only thing he could and that was shrug it off. "This is nothing, Lucy. Just another for the collection," he told her. It was true, he now had another gunshot wound to accompany the many other scars. Another memory permanently etched on his body. They were becoming too frequent these days and he knew it had to stop. For now, it was the bullet holes in Emmet's chest that were of importance. They were the ones that mattered to the Sullivans and would change their lives forever.

Conor and Sinead Sullivan

When Finn joined him and Sinead, Conor looked up to him. He felt his cousin's hand on his shoulder. "Finn..." he began, his voice faltering. He was sure Sinead could hear them, so he mouthed his next words, so only Finn would know what he was saying. "I can't do it. I don't know what to do," he admitted, hoping Finn could read his lips. Sinead hadn't stopped crying the entire time and Conor would have wondered how she hadn't exhausted herself by now, if his head was clear to wonder about such things. "Please," he spoke aloud this time. "Can you help Sinead up and take her away from th-that?" he asked, glancing to Emmets body that was still in his view. Conor knew he needed to let David finish helping him, but more than that he knew he was of no use to Sinead right now.

If Finn helped Sinead up, he would find at first she couldn't stand, but then she regained control of her muscles and clung tightly to him wherever he led her. "I can't feel my heart," she finally spoke to her cousin. She'd entered the party with a broken heart and now it felt like it had been crushed beyond repair. She was afraid everyone else would leave her too.
