Jada is a wild thing who prefers to spend each day as if it’s her last. She’s the type to try anything twice. Her resting bitch face tends to make others steer clear of her and so does her reputation. Jada has a slight air of mystery around her, since she doesn’t really talk about herself unless prompted. She’s more inclined to let others do the talking. She has no problem with letting people vent to her and will lend an ear to friends and family when asked. Jada is a perceptive young woman with a knack for reading others, Though she tends to keep what she sees to herself for the most part.

Jadahas a backbone made of steel. She’s by no means a shrinking violet and definitely bites back when pushed. She’s been told that she can be incredibly stubborn and stuck in her ways. Jade isn’t someone who is swayed easily and doesn’t back down when it comes to something she believes in. Her mouth has definitely gotten her into trouble in the past, it doesn’t help that she’s confrontational and not afraid to throw hands. Jade has control over the senses of herself and others, including sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste, balance, pain, etc, allowing her to freely alter and manipulate them. She can enhance, reduce or remove them temporarily, protect herself or others from being overwhelmed, cause targets to sense things that aren't there or prevent them from sensing things that are, and cause/remove sensory ailments. ​

Her ability is versatile and manifest in two ways, though touch and through a pitch black fog that she can generate. With touch when she stops touching someone whatever sense she manipulated returns to normal. Her fog is more long lasting though. If someone is completely surrounded she can cause them to experience complete sensory deprivation or sensory overload. With those of these she is able to cause hallucinations, making others or herself experience things that aren’t there.​

Weaknessesβ€”
Seeing as she’s only just discovered her power jade doesn’t have that much control over it. There are times when she uses her powers unconsciously, one minute she’s hearing fine and suddenly she can’t hear at all or hears too much. Her power can lead to migraines depending on what sense is altered. The same happens with others so she doesn’t touch or get too close to them. Currently her fog is ranged, it only reaches around five feet when she tries to expand it.​

HISTORY

Jada was the product of a one night stand between an eighteen year old high school student and a rich sophomore in college. There was no love between the two of them and after their night together they parted ways. When Jada’s mother, Shani, found out that he was pregnant she had been terrified and definitely unprepared. At one point she had been contemplating getting rid of it but she found that she couldn’t. Shani tried to hide her pregnancy from her parents but it was hard when she lived with them, which eventually led them to finding it out. They were disappointed, concerned with how others thought of them. They kicked their own daughter out. In the beginning they provided little for her but eventually that stopped.

Jada’s birth was only known by her mother and the staff in the room. For Shani it was love at first sight, she knew that she would do everything that she could for her daughter. Life for Shani was hard as a single mother, going from job to job in order to provide for her. And when that wasn’t enough she turned to stripping and prostitution. From then it was a downward spiral. Jada grew up in poverty and there were definitely hard times. But the love of her mother was enough to get her through. She knew that the woman worked hard for her, cared for her like she hasn’t cared for anyone else. So it broke Jada’s heart when she would notice her mother returning from work with bruises or behaving weird.

As she grew older Jada knew the hardships of life, understood what her mother had to go through in order to provide for her. She didn’t hate her mother for what she did at night, even as people whispered as she walked by and kids taunted her for it. Her love for her mother held firm. Even as Shani began to spiral out of control with drugs and alcohol. Jada was there to pick up the pieces and let her know that she appreciated her. Throughout the years Jada spent her time getting it out the mud and trying to survive. With no real guidance and someone to watch over her she spent her days causing trouble. Stealing, vandalism, and fighting were just some of the things she got into. Though things for her changed when her father suddenly appeared in her life, wanting to take her in to join his family.

In the midst of the chaos Jada’s life changed drastically. After witnessing glowing orbs littering the night sky she began to notice that something had changed about her, that she could do things had she couldn’t before. It all began when she was arguing with another student, all she remembers is how much she thought that their voice annoyed her and suddenly she was deaf. Other instances happened and Jada realized that she had powers. Of course she kept it to yourself, reading that she was alone and how she would be judged. Ever since she has been struggling to control her ability, working in secret to learn more about it.

Build: Alexander is muscular, more than most of the kids his age, all courtesy of his years in the football team and love for exercise.

Alex might be one of the kindest, most welcoming people you will ever meet. The type of person who gives tours to incoming freshmen and helps them accommodate to the life of a High Schooler. The type of guy you know you can always count on, despite a lack of a strong relationship with him. His friendly and charismatic personality made it easy for him to make friends, which made him quite popular amongst his peers. His overly empathetic and selfless nature comes with a fault, as he often puts people before himself to an unhealthy degree. Not only that, but his connection with people makes him deathly afraid of loosing said relationships. Which is why he has a hard time standing up against others, often choosing to "try and understand where they're coming from" rather than cause conflict.

He considers himself someone with a very "free soul". With wishes of escaping from his normal life to travel the world and see what places outside the country have to offer. His escapists tendencies also involve his wish to escape from all of his responsibilities; often manifested by his complete disregard of assignments and tendency to procrastinate. Its true that he isn't the best student, not by a long shot. Most classes bore him, and he is known for skipping school quite often. The only reason he tries being his sister and his wish to stay in the school's sports teams, rather than his own academic interest or wishes to go to university.

If Angela knows little about their biological family, Alexander knows even less. He can't remember a single thing about his original family, other than they were "stupid, filthy little idiots who couldn't even bring themselves to give a shit about their children," - in Angie's words. As young children in the system, Alex always felt that for every positive step his sister took in order to get them out, he took a thousand steps backwards. He was loud, reckless, hyperactive, brash, and lousy in most of his school classes. Leading to some less-than-positive results with prospective parents. He knew there was something wrong with him, after all, everyone always told him so. And he knew he needed to stop, to behave more like a "normal" child, but he didn't know how. And he tried, he really did. But no matter what happened, no matter how much he tried to control himself and be more like the other kids, he was never good enough. He lived in constant fear of his sister leaving him (the others teased him, knowing prospective parents and even the foster family they were staying with were interested in adopting her), but she always reassured that she was never going to leave him. After all, if she left her behind, that would only make her just like their parents. Family was too important.

As they grew older and Alex's behavioural issues began diminishing as he started going to therapy, he began seeing his sister's change in demeanour. He knew full well of what she was doing to the others, and the horrible implications it had for the others, but he couldn't bring himself to speak up. Not against the person who'd given up opportunities of a lifetime to stay with him. He owed her too much to go against her actions. So he let it slide. Often seeking out and comforting the other children when he knew his sister wasn't watching to make himself feel better, but always feeling that he wasn't helping as much as he should have.

Once High School rolled around, Alexander quickly tried out for the school's football team. Having always been a fan of the sport and always wanting to find new ways of letting loose and letting go of his frustrations through exercise. Being in the team gave him friends and popularity, more than he'd ever expected. Despite the stress and boredom that came with school, he found it to be an amazing and liberating place to socialise and, more importantly, feel more like a normal kid.

Extras:
- When his sister told him about her powers, he pretended to be happy for her. But really, he doesn't like the idea of someone like Angie having the power to control people. Not more than she already does.

- He has a part-time job as a retail worker. The pay is bad and the costumers are horrible, but he's saving up for an apartment and (hopefully) his own car.

Bio: Being the youngest of the Hansen siblings (by only a few minutes) left Aria feeling like, well, the baby of the family. Even if Alaina was her twin sister, she always felt second best. Like a step behind her. Still, she loved her sister and the two were inseparable when they were younger. Everything Aria did, Alaina was right there beside her. They dressed alike. Had the same hobbies. Same friends. Everything.

When she was about six years old, her mother passed away in an unexpected accident. Aria doesn't remember much about it -- at the time, she hardly understood what "death" meant and didn't truly understand what it meant until after the funeral. The loss hit their father the hardest who started to lose himself in the bottle and then their older brother, Cade, started to drift away until it was just Aria and Alaina on their own.

The older they got and the more they found themselves fending for themselves, the bigger the divide between Aria and Alaina grew. Well her sister just kept being that picture perfect daughter, Aria grew tired of always feeling second best and started hanging out with a different crowd. A crowd that was less, well... they got into trouble.

Aria started lashing out more -- at Alaina, at their dad, at Cade. When she was thirteen, she was caught stealing from a local gas station and it was just downhill from there. At fourteen, she stopped spending most nights at home and was sneaking out nearly every night to hangout with whoever would give her the time of day. Anything that would take her away from the broken household that she was growing up in. It wasn't long until she started smoking pot and getting invited to high school parties where she quickly started drinking the night away. What can she say? As far as Aria is concerned, she's young and she might as well have fun.

On the night she thought that she saw stars, Aria was convinced it was a high. She pushed it away and forgot about the memory until about a week later when she discovered that she could... summon light? Honestly, even Aria isn't sure what happens, but sometimes she can make a little ball of light in her hands. She hasn't told anyone, but she does go into the woods to try and learn more about it.

Backstory:
Indigo spent the first six years of her life in Nigeria, her family being part of the Yoruba tribe in the southwest of the country. Her mother wasn't of the tribe and had only been brought in when he met and married her father. It was difficult going, as her mother was very much a white woman and it had been difficult for her to gain approval among the tribe members to even marry her father in the first place. When Indigo was born, it was evident that she would never be quite accepted among the other children. They treated her as if she was some sort of an alien, a being with foreign blood who did not belong. Alyssa, her mother, saw this and was very aware that if they were to stay, Indigo wold get the same treatment she had gotten and far longer. Not wanting that, her mother begged desperately for her father to come to the U.S. with them, stating that they would never be welcome here. Adebale, her father, took a lot of convincing as he held high status in the tribe and it was the only life he had ever known. Eventually his love for Indigo and her mother won out and he left the tribe to travel back to America with Alyssa and Indigo.

They moved to her mother's home town and settled with her grandparents until both her parents could get a steady job and buy a house of their own. Alyssa finally made use of her teaching degree she had gotten before meeting Adewale in Nigeria and became a teacher at her old highschool. Adewale was a different story, as he had never had any traditional schooling and it was hard for him to find work. On a stroke of luck, her father found a man that would hire him to help him on his ranch land a few miles away from town. Her father fell into his own as a stableman on the farm, his love of horses netting him a decent payout. Indigo's young life was relatively calm. She went to school, she played soccer, she came home. There wasn't much luster to it as she never had any friends, so there wasn't much for her to do besides school. Besides, Indigo was good at school and she was good at soccer so she didn't really feel the need for much else. She was perfectly fine being nondescript and quiet. It wasn't until a month ago when all this shit started happening that she began to feel like she may be more important than she would like. Over the past month she has talked to more people than she ever has in her entire life, but she supposed that's what happens when you suddenly have ghosts following you around everywhere. She just really hoped no one else knew. When you see ghosts, everything suddenly becomes a lot less nondescript.

About her
Zoe's the middle child and only daughter out of five kids. Her parents had the whole star-crossed lovers cliche, although not really. Her mother, Xia was in an arranged marriage, she'd been set to marry someone of her parents' desire since birth. As she got older, she had made peace with it until she had met Zoe's father Dave. The back and forth with her parents went on for years when she called off the wedding and ran away with Dave.

Although he was willing to learn everything about Xia's culture, and religion of Buddism. But even though he was willing, Xia's family felt betrayed. So betrayed in fact, they didn't show up to their wedding. A few years and a grandchild later is when the family made amends. American Buddhists weren't very common in the US, but Dave had quickly converted if it meant his wife was happy. Her family aside, Zoe grew up as any loved and sheltered child would.

Insecure and ready to rebel. Although, always with a limit. It's not like she'd burn a place down for the fun of it. Zoe's brothers were typically a bad influence on her, but they grew out of it.

Think class-clown, yet the girl who stuck to herself? A few laughs to grab out of anyone and then boom, Zoe was just Zoe-- with Elliot of course, as soon as she laid eyes on him, she knew they were going to be inseparable. A little over five years later and here they are, a few months into their freshman year and ready to... take on everyone else?

before anything else, atticus can be described as a funny guy. most people know him by sarcastic remarks he makes in classes which can sometimes make him seem as mean and self-centered. of course, like with most people, humor is just a mask atticus puts on before going out of the house. those who know him better and consider him their friend know that he is actually a caring and insecure guy who is just looking for validation (both from his peers and from his parents).

ability

Atticus' ability is copying and manipulating other people's abilities. While this might seem very overpowered, it really isn't because to be able to copy other people's abilities and use them, he has to have skin-to-skin contact with the person in question. Of course, when he does have skin-to-skin contact, he still doesn't know how to use the ability because he doesn't copy the knowledge on using the power.

Another part of his ability, like stated previously, is manipulating other people's abilities. As all of the powers are created from star energy, Atticus can switch the star energy in different individuals, basically switching their powers. Of course, he doesn't know how to do this, and even if he did, it wold probably be extremely difficult.

Power: Ice Manipulation-can create and control ice at will. A side effect of her power is that the temperature around her is cooler.
Limitations-It takes a lot of energy for Mi-Young to use her powers. The longer she uses it the more drained she feels / It is harder for her to use her powers in a dry environment. This means it take more energy for her to use it in a dry environment and vise versa in a more wet environment.
Disadvantage- Her emotions are strongly connected to her powers (as are most). If she doesn't control them her powers can lash out when she is afraid or mad or even just excitement can cause it to come about.
Personality: Mi-Young used to be a major social butterfly. She loved being around people, sharing gossip and starting drama. She wasn't always the nicest person on the block but she knew how to treat her friends right. Mi-Young still is very active with her friends but ever since the night the stars fell she has been more quiet. She isn't always seeking out new friends or even going out to parties. Reserve was a new term used to describe her personality and she lost some friends due to this.
Mi-Young is very cautious about how she shows her self now and works really hard to control her emotions. She doesn't want anyone to find out about her powers. which usually leads her to stay away from those she doesn't know, where before she would just go up to anyone and start a conversation.

Bio: Mi-Young was originally from South Korea before her parents moved overseas due to a job offer her father had. They moved into town while she was in middle school. At first Mi-Young was not happy. She had to move away from her friends and anyone that age would be mad. Though, over time, she realized it was much better here. She had more time to socialize and didn't have to go to school after normal school. It was great! Mi-Young instantly took to making friends wherever she went. It helped a lot because her parents were always too busy for her. She knew they had good reasons but she still felt the need to fill that void of never seeing them.

Once she got into high school it was all over, at least for her academic career. At this point she was more focused on her looks and social life than she was to getting into college. As long as she was 'passing' her classes, her parents didn't pay much attention to her. She was offered a modeling career once she graduated and she was planning on taking it. So basically as long as she had C's and didn't ruin her looks she was set. This, of course meant a lot of partying and kind of doing whatever she wanted.

The night the stars fell was an interesting one for her. She still doesn't quite understand what she saw that night. At first she thought it was beautiful but now she wished she never even saw the once in a lifetime event. After that evening she noticed a change in her and not in a good way. Ice. Ice everywhere with the slightest bit of emotional distress, both good and bad. It confused her to no end and she had been super lucky that no one was around when it happened. She also noticed that even when she had he emotions calm, the air around her tended to be colder. She couldn't feel it of course, but others would shiver when not wearing jacket.

It was around this time that she started to retreat into herself and try and remove her self from most situations. She didn't want anyone to find out and be called a freak. It could ruin her potential career. She didn't care what it looked like to others, since she stopped going to parties (she couldn't control her emotions as much when she was intoxicated) and only talked to her close friends. In the comfort of her own home did she even try to control this new power, for she hopped to one day go back to her usual life style.

Darkness Manipulation - She can manipulate darkness and shadows. She can also control and manipulate the beings that exist there, create and dispel shields and areas of total darkness, create constructs and weapons, and teleport one's self through massive distances via shadows, for example.

power drawbacks
She's weak against beings with light powers that expel darkness. While she can create darkness, it is not unlimited and may only stay around for a short period of time depending on if she can find a source for the darkness. Darkness can also corrupt her mind, if used too frequently or without rest.

Alaina is the second born of the Hansen children, and the oldest between her and her twin sister, Aria. For the first few years of their life, the twins were super close, as most twins are. Their parents dressed them alike, and they did everything together. Their older brother was both their tormentor and their protector, but as most good things do-- they came to an end. The death of their mother was the first tragedy they endured. No one saw it coming. The accident was quick and came out of nowhere, and their mother died at the scene.

Everyone was shocked, but their father suffered the greatest loss of all. He lost his lover, his best friend, and this affected him greatly. He became friends with the bottle, and started to not be able to function. He disappeared for long periods of time, and Cade ended up having to take over the 'fatherly' duties of the house. At first, it was small things, odd jobs here and there. But as he got older, the jobs became riskier. Of course, neither Alaina nor her sister saw any of this. They just saw that both of their remaining family members were leaving them, and this created a divide between the twins as well.

The once inseparable twins drifted apart, growing distant more and more with each passing day. Alaina became a perfectionist, wanting to impress the people around her. She was the bright and bubbly twin, as opposed to the dump her sister grew into [her words]. She makes sure that no one sees the darkness hidden inside of her, and that all they see is the perfection she wants them to see.

Cade is the oldest child in the Hansen family, though only by a few years. He had to grow up quickly at a young age due to his mothers death when he was about nine years old. His father handled things okay for a little while, but then he started drinking heavier and disappearing for long periods of time, so Cade had to resort to stealing his fathers money and doing odd jobs around the neighborhood. At first, it was just grass cutting and some light handywork, but as he got older, the wrong set of eyes found him.

He got approached by a local gang and offered money for other types of jobs. Stealing cars, robbing peoples houses. It was scary work that would have landed him in juvie if he got caught-- so he learned to never get caught. The money that came in was decent enough that he could help provide for his younger sisters, but it made him not home alot, too. He missed the divide that was created between them since he wasn't around alot to see more than the usual sister squabbling.

Ever since his own powers manifested, he's also been trying to avoid them more, not wanting them to get hurt. He hunts down people with powers now for money, though he doesn't know what happens to them after he betrays them.

Bio: Born as the only son to a fairly well-off family, Connor can say that his life hasn't been nearly as hard as many other kids. Growing up was easy. His parents never had to worry about money, Connor never had to worry about where their next meal came from. Plus, being an only child meant that he had both of his parents' attention for most of his life. Everything seemed great, right? And from the outside and from his viewpoint, it was.

Turns out his mother was cheating and around the time that Connor turned ten, she ran off with her new boyfriend and left Connor and his dad alone. It wasn't necessarily bad, even though Connor holds a lot of bitterness to his mother who still contacts him occasionally. He and his dad grew closer and everything ended up great again... until his father met a new girlfriend and, eventually, wife who had two daughters. One was a year younger than Connor and the other was three years younger. Having them move in changed everything.

She didn't work, so his dad had to start working longer hours to support his new extended family. And Connor liked her, until the wedding vows were said and his dad wasn't around. She said she hated him, insulted his mother, started making him go to his room and wouldn't let him out until his dad would come home. But no matter what Connor would tell his dad, his dad never believed him that his perfect little wife could be anything but perfect.

So he grew used to being quiet and unheard. His school life wasn't as expected, but Connor did start to grow quieter over the years. Now, it's just a part of his personality. He's still popular and most people know who Connor Wright is, but most days, it doesn't really feel like he has that many friends. Sure, he knows he does, but it's just easy to feel alone sometimes.

When he saw the stars, it was on a day that he was locked in his bedroom and working on homework at his desk. Just out the window, he saw something that looked like a floating ball of light. Connor opened his window and tried to touch it but by then, it had faded away. He still doesn't know what that was about and doesn't feel any different. And he hasn't shown any signs of his own power yet.

  • As for drawbacks, it takes a lot more energy to conjure her own fire and it drains the heat from her own body. She's also not immune to all fire and can be burned by existing fire or her own if she loses control. It's very tied in with her emotions, easier to use when she's feeling strong emotions and harder to use when she's cool headed.
Personality: Off the bat, Pip can seem a bit rude and unwelcoming. That's how she likes it. She doesn't want anyone poking into her personal life or trying to get too friendly until she trusts them. She's always ready to fight and isn't afraid to call someone out if she believes they deserve it, but she's also not a macho 'all eyes on me' type. She would rather just stay hidden in the shadows and not have to deal with anybody. She does, however, have a secret desire to fit in and find friends. Bio: Pip is an only child and was born to parents that just don't care. As a teen, she was even left to get a job (or more likely, pick up a coupleand feed herself. At 18, she got her own apartment, slipping money from her dad to help with rent.

Bio: Spinner was born in upstate New York, to a college student who wasn't prepared to raise a child, especially when that child turned out to have a myriad of health issues. She did her best for the two weeks her son was expected to live, but when Ethan exceeded his life expectancy, she decided the best course of action was to give him up for adoption.

Ethan was lucky enough to escape the system two years later, helped by Roy and Samantha Spinner, a couple who had already adopted one child and had more than enough room for another. Not only that, but they were fairly well-off and could afford all of the crazy expensive treatments that their second child needed every few weeks. Spinner's earliest memories were of their home in the outskirts around NYC, and the large elementary school he and his sister went to, where his classmates started using his last name to distinguish him from the other Ethans in his class.

Spinner's life in elementary school was normal for the most part, other than the high frequency of doctor's visits that the other kids were jealous of, since they meant he could leave school often and they didn't fully understand why he needed them. In middle school, however, his health took a nosedive, to the point where he was in the hospital more often than not. His parents made the tough decision to uproot the family and move to a small town on the other side of the country, where Spinner could receive better medical care in a more laid-back environment. Whether or not it helped is still up in the air, but he did eventually recover, enough that he could go back to public school for the first time in years.
Relationships:
Power: Flight - Spinner can levitate and fly at speeds of up to 60 mph in any direction. With no control over his momentum, Spinner has to be careful to slow down well in advance of stopping or turning to avoid hitting things. He also can't carry anyone with him.

Sam can specifically manipulate nails, screws, and staples (and other small metal bits smaller than 4 inches wide and 7 inches long) within 25 feet of himself (including above himself).
Drawbacks
It takes literal minutes for the screws, nails, and staples (and other tiny metal things) to get attracted to him (upwards of five minutes, usually more like fifteen). The metal things act like legit objects, so they have their same weight, their same mass, and everything; thus, they cannot phase through objects to get to him-- and thus, it's pretty easy for people to stop him from controlling the things by just grabbing them if they aren't traveling at a very high velocity. The objects will, however, push against other objects to get to him. He can still throw things at people outside of his 25 feet range, but, again, laws of gravity work.
As far as willing the nails and things go, he must fully focus and mentally envision what he wants to happen with the objects. It's like a muscle-- an extremely weak, invisible muscle that gains power and strength over time with practice-- and it's a bit difficult to discover. His power is mostly a nuisance.

Cosmo has the ability to locate people, objects and resources without the use of scientific apparatus by thinking about it/them, or having come in contact with it/them in a 5 mile radius. When target is located in radius, it appears in Cosmo's vision with a glowing aura around it that grows brighter the closer Cosmo gets. Cosmo can not be tracked themself/aren't on a blip of a power scale, unless they go beyond their power radius of usage.

Drawbacks
Cosmo can't just magically make things appear, their ability just leads them to it. They have to visualize or have touched the object/lifeform to track it. Trying to seek outside of their radius will cause severe headaches and them to 'short-circuit'. They will lose track of the item if they lose their focus on it, or if who/what they're searching for can evade tracking.

History
Cosmo was born as the youngest child of a family of four, their mother having left the picture when Cosmo was just four years old. Claiming that she was raising the devil for a child and that she couldn't bare staying with what would be her doom. Instead, Cosmo was raised by their father Jeremiah Darlington, a senior director of a glasses company just outside of town. A job that required him to travel from the different plants constantly and leaving Cosmo's sister Adelaide to raise both Cosmo and their little brother Stephen mostly on her own. Still, they made things work, and when Cosmo was old enough to help around the house Adelaide was quick to put them to work. The siblings were close, and the first to support Cosmo once they began exploring themself and realizing not only were they queer, but genderfluid as well. Their father, however, was very much against the whole idea, and by the age of fourteen, Cosmo was kicked out of their childhood home.

A few months of living on the streets and eventually moving into a hostel for students and other homeless kids, Cosmo was quick to develop a hard and independent mask for himself. Although the workers of the Hostel were supportive of Cosmo's clothing decisions and identity, they were very quick to snap at them and go against whatever they would ask of them, no longer trusting of authority or adults that tried to shape them. They also resorted to small jobs and stealing to get the fabrics, items, and accessories they needed along with pawning off other things they stole to keep a decent look for themselves, not wanting a single person to think they were in a bad situation.

On the night that the stars fell, Cosmo was just leaving a liquor store ready to sell off their alcohol to some kids in the hostel. On their way back home is when they saw them. They were curious and interested, even made a stupid wish like the younger kids would do a night, hoping that things would change from here. What they didn't realize yet, was that the change wasn't just their sudden luck of an influx of finding things they needed, nor the random money they kept finding on the streets.

Power: Molecular Acceleration: Following exposure to the "stars," Ricky developed the ability to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy, thus β€œcharging” that item with explosive results. He prefers to charge smaller objects, such as his ever-present playing cards, as the time required to charge them is greatly reduced and they are much easier for him to throw. The only real limitation to this ability is the time required to charge the object. The larger it is, the more time it takes to charge.

The charging takes place via direct skin contact, with the mass of the explosion depending on how long he continues charging said object (like blowing air into a balloon until it pops). He's unable to utilize this ability on living matter or organic molecules.

Ricky creates a natural static, because of the charged potential energy always in his body, that shields his mind from intrusion by telepaths. Although reportedly uncomfortable for the parties involved, this shield does not totally prevent telepathic invasion. Likewise, with his skin in contact with the temple of someone else, Ricky would be able to temporarily scramble a person's sensory awareness, rendering them dazed, confused, or knocked out cold.

Though rather simple, Ricky's creative nature has allowed him to apply his abilities in a variety of different ways. It will likely grow as such.

Personality:
Chill is honestly the best, and most appropriate way to describe Ricky.

He's easy-going in nature, and isn't necessarily one to pick fights unless absolutely needed. He definitely does love to poke fun, especially at larger threats, and uses his quick-wit and sarcasm to his own benefit. With lazy eyes that make him seem high at all times, and a smooth, nonchalant voice, Ricky is the epitome of laidback pothead. Ultimately one finds all too quickly that Ricky doesn't seem to take much seriously, and due to his go-with-the-flow habit, he shrugs things off with fairly no remorse. Perhaps as a defense for his own self, and his refusal to be hurt again by someone he loves, Ricky also isn't all-too emotional (hence the plethora of jokes and snickers). Ricky also tends to be very bold with women, and though he's nothing close to a player, he feels no fear in projecting his thoughts and admiration for the opposite sex.

Deep down though, Ricky's somebody who (though he wishes he could deny it) reminisces his past and the decisions he's made. Someone who was broken down by the family that was supposed to have his back at all times. One who has found it difficult to let anyone else close enough to become a new, real family to him. Towards those "close" to him, Ricky can be blunt honest, and mean, generally coming off as insensitive. He doesn't understand how to cope with the emotional spectrum of things, and so his advice and thoughts on situations is often basic, and without consideration for emotional consequences. Still, like with his drug brothers, Ricky's loyalty is through the roof when finally earned. He's a dog for his friends, and in spite of his passive nature, would go tooth and nail for those he cares about.

Ricky's own love only truly lies within his crafts, drugs, and cars. Though he doesn't care too much for trying, he's a quick learner, fine-tuned to seeing and mimicking (hence why he was so hyperactive as a child. while his peers were stuck on one thing, he was itching for the next).

Ricky generally enjoys late night smokes in his drop-top, and occasional talk with minds on the same intellectual spectrum as his.

Ricky has a lean, muscular physique standing at 6'1. With his weight only just over 150lbs., depending on his diet from the day he veers between looking anorexic, pale, or healthy on few days. Ricky naturally has a light, olive skin tone, with thinned out eyes holding emerald green stars in them. His hair is usually left gelled up into bangs on each side of his face, and currently the straight her reaches down to his shoulders. He has thin pink lips that only seem to accentuate his (surprisingly) clear skin.

He has both ear lobes pierced, along with a double set of nose rings. His ears are often adorned with faux-diamond studs, or hanging cross earrings. Though he doesn't have any tattoos, he doesn't refrain from doodling on his arms as a form of stress relief.

Ricky veers towards darker shades in his wardrobe, famously sporting dark leather jackets, black skinny jeans, etc.









History

Ricardo is the third-born son of Washington senator, millionaire politician, Pablo Santanna the first. His mother was the lead surgeon of the Washington General Hospital. And as one could guess, Ricky was ushered into the direction of education-based greatness. Like his father, it was expected that Ricky would push past the racial restraints of being latinx in America, but unlike his older siblings that eventually followed suit, Ricky was far from pimp perfect.

Though his parents were almost always absent for work, and meetings, it had never hidden the fact from Ricky, even at a young age, that he wasn't like the rest of his family. Where his eldest sister excelled in dancing arts, and his brother in football, both paired with academic expertise, Ricky found a love for thrill and excitement at a young age. He was always the loudmouth student, irresponsible child, and explosive personality. He never quite fit in with the debutantes and kings that his family tried to usher him into.

Following his expulsion from his third prep school in the eighth grade Ricardo's parents eventually felt enough was enough. He was relocated down to the Washington town of Wilmont, living with his aunt and cousins. Alone, and abandoned, Ricky wanted nothing to do with any of his own "blood" or family. He left the home of his aunt in tears, only to be found by Wilmont's thugs and boneheads. Taken under their wing, Ricky soon found a family amongst the drug-running men, and developed his own role selling dope in his freshman year. Due to his sly persuasion, and uncanny intellect (due to state of the art tuition in his former life), he was given the nickname, "Tricky Ricky."

Although he seems to have found his "place," Ricky continues to struggle with finding a place of true belonging. He's almost always too high to focus on this though, and if not, he's too busy distracting himself by cracking a joke. In spite of the filthy new life that he lives, Ricky's grown to be a fairly popular/known Wilmont student. The drug dealer that doesn't get caught, prankster friend, or just a funny pal to rest a shoulder on, perhaps he'll truly find his own place in the lives of others.

Pablo Santanna: The relationship between Ricky and his father is a strained one. The two haven't been on speaking terms since his relocation, nor does Ricky plan on rekindling said relationship.
Maria Santanna: Though he hasn't made any effort to reach out to his mother, Ricky's aunt continues to pass the envelopes with cards, and money his mother delivers on most holidays. This was the hardest relationship for Ricky to leave behind, though he believes he's doing her a favour by staying gone.
Pablo Santanna II: Ricky absolutely despised his brother growing up. Pablo made sure to rub his achievements in Ricky's face, and further push him away from the rest of the family. Ricky is unaware of what Pablo is up to nowadays, though he's sure it's some preppy shit that involves golf clubs and chauffeurs.
Riley Santanna: Ricky's eldest sister, Riley, had always been good to him. Till this day the two have continued to keep in contact. He enjoys face-calling his sisters kids, and can't help but smile at the sight of her, and her law firm in the general Washington papers/news.
Aunt Kelsie: Ricky's relationship with his aunt is "normal." Though he ran away following one day living under her roof, and only returned weeks later, Kelsie had been nothing but good to Ricky. So much as to offer bunking space if the block was ever to get hot. Ricky finds himself dropping bands of cash at her doorstep from time to time, just to thank her for looking out, though he doesn't keep in touch with her too much for her own safety.
Cousins Wyatt, Jade, and Marco: Ew. Ricky despises kids and they're all less than five.
Wyatt Tinsley: It only seems like it was yesterday Wyatt had pulled up with the rusty old convertible, and cigarette to take in a scared, and afraid Ricky. Though it's only been three years bunking with one another, Ricky has quickly becoming a brother to Ricky. Showing him around the ranks of the "gang," buying him clothes and food when he's in need, etc. Ricky is truly in debt to Wyatt. As the "kid-brother" of the head of the drug-slinging group, Ricky has also acquired some respect, and been left alone from time to time because of his relationship with Wyatt.

Wyatt is a Wilmont High graduate.
Alex Cariou, fancries1 fancries1 : Alex is Ricky's brother from another mother. Where Ricky is reckless, and arrogant, Alex is sort of his jiminy cricket. Having met in the freshman year as Ricky's first jab at selling weed, Alex quickly humbled Ricky and rejected his offer. Sightings in classes, and around the school only continued to peak the interest of the king of mischief who eventually befriended Alex. Rick and Alex quickly acquainted each other, and at their lowest point, were able to bond over the family issues of one another. Having finally shared something so sensitive, Alex was cemented as Ricky's brother, with the two having become seemingly inseparable. From lighting the cafe on fire, to their abrupt Seattle field-trip (leaving midway through lunch), Ricky and Alex have been through thick and thin. He'd do absolutely anything for Alex.
Angie Cairou, fancries1 fancries1 : Introduced to her through Alex, Ricky and Angie's start was initially a rough one. He was a terrible influence for sure, but Alex was already a bad kid in his own right. Having realized just how close the boys were, and even how much Ricky reminded her of Alex, Angie eventually came around to Ricky. He now sees her as sort of an older sister, and loves stopping by the lounge just to piss her off. Hey, she's cute when she sings!
Aria Hansen, Winona Winona : Aria was the first girl Ricky came across following his move to Wilmont. He'd only just met Wyatt too, and was grateful to find someone that matched his wavelength. Though he doesn't quite remember if they'd met at the park, gas station, or arcade, all Ricky remembers was the robbing of gas stations, slashing tires, and getting high all through freshman year. Though he'd never tell a soul, Aria went on to be his first kiss and girlfriend (he'd went to all boys prep school before then!). On one of the many times they'd snuck out, Ricky still recalls the pulsing sensation radiating from the stars above. A pulse that vibrated into his person, and unlocked extraordinary abilities. Ricky had always wondered if the same had occurred to Aria, though the puppy love soon dissipitated.

Aria remains one of Ricky's good friends though, and regular buyers. The thought of whether or not she was blessed that night only continues to linger in his mind though.
Sam Maeger, ohdittoh ohdittoh : Sam and Ricky are the epitome of frenemies. Having acquainted one another in a freshman year Mathematics class, and gone on to bicker on the results, they had a rocky start to their relationship. Eventually the two men developed a sort of respect as well, for having someone who could put up with the crap of the other. Still, the boys have only continued to argue, make up, and hang out as time has progressed. Though Ricky sees Sam as a pain in the ass, he also praises him as an intelligent adversary/friend.
Cade Hansen, apolla apolla : Dickhead. That is the only word that can sum up the way Ricky sees Cade. Having met the older man during a joint drug exchange requiring both a runner and enforcer for their gang, Ricky knew at first sight that Cade was just a big bag of asshole. He was awfully serious, arrogant, and immediately appointed himself as boss of the operation. While Ricky wasn't a stickler for being in charge, he didn't enjoy being bossed around either. Part of the fun of each run was the thrill of it all, and Cade was getting in the way of that. He made that awfully clear to him. And so Ricky went out of his way to get under Cade's skin, force him out of his comfort zone, and ridicule him whenever he could. The two have had a constant tension whenever they're together since, all thanks to their clashing personalities.
Alaina Hansen, apolla apolla : Ricky and Alaina hadn't done much talking until the second semester of sophomore year. He'd struggled with science, and had luckily found himself paired with none other than notorious perfectionist, Alaina Hansen. While things hadn't started off on the highest note with Ricky slacking off for the most part of the project, Alaina gave him a rude awakening and sparked some work in him for the remainder. Said awakening had only made Ricky all the more interested in Alaina, grew enough into acquaintance and then friendship.

Over the sophomore-year summer, Ricky found himself spending more and more time with Alaina. She was someone, who in spite of being his near opposite, seemed to understand him well (maybe as much as Alex). He grew a strong admiration for her beauty, and intellect, and it seemed she was just as drawn to him. Ricky didn't like the feeling initially-- he liked girls, sure, but somehow Alaina was the only one he wanted. Only one he truly noticed. And so he kissed her.

Seated on the hood of his Lincoln convertible, crickets sounding in the night, and the moon illuminating the both of them... Ricky kissed her, and she'd returned it. From then on things only seemed to click in place. The two spent almost every night together whether it was going out for a drive, or Ricky sneaking into her place. With him, Alaina was able to be her true self without judgement. And with her, Ricky found himself gaining a sense of belonging.

Still, knowledge of the pair is secret. The only people he's shared information of their being together are Alex, and Wyatt, both sworn to secrecy. If Cade, Aria, or even some of the gang's rivals managed to find out... all else would break loose.

background: evelyn brooks was born to a family of three; her parents and her older sister, willow. as a toddler, eve and her sister were closer than best-friends with an unbreakable bond, or so eve thought. soon eve grew up stuck in the shadow of her older sister. no matter what she did, it was never better than what her older sister had achieved. this brought sibling rivalry and constant taunting from her sister. eve always felt as though her parents never cared for her as much as they did willow and willow seemed to remind her of it every day. the only times she felt cared for was when her father would visit her in the evening with some chocolate chip cookies and tell her he was proud. eve lived for those nights but as she grew up, they stopped happening. throughout middle school, eve spent her lunches in the library, daydreaming about having a new life where she didn't have an older sister and unproud parents.

despite having a rough time with her parents and sister, she did have a shining light in her family: her aunt sophia and her cousin rory. her aunt sophia was like a second mother to her and rory was like her real sister. she spent many weekneds over at their place where she felt she got the attention she needed. her and rory told each other everything, and i mean everything. there wasn't a secret rory didn't know eve. the year her aunt sophia died was a bad year for both and her and rory grieved together. instead of pushing them apart, they became even closer than they were before and the term cousin didn't quite fit them as well. they were sisters at heart. while rory became a little wild, eve became a little more anxious. she no longer had a parental figure rooting for her and it hurt, but she still had her cousin and that was all that mattered.

one night, eve got into a huge argument with her sister and stormed out, promising them to never come back. she wandered over to a nearby park and watched the sky. everything seemed normal until what looked like brightly burning stars fell into the sky wide-eyed and scared, eve ran back home and told her family what she saw. they claimed that she must've imagined it instead and told her to go to bed. ever since then, eve began to notice that every time she was upset or angry, it would either rain or thunder. she only put two and two together after one night. it was a few weeks after eve had taken the SATs and she was nervously awaiting results. after profusely checking online, she received them with a squeal of excitement. she immediately showed them to her parents who in turn shook their heads in disapproval, stating that willow received a much higher score on her first try. as soon as the words left their mouth, a sinking feeling was left in eve's heart and all she could feel was pure rage. before she could release her angry words, hail began to pour from above despite the weather being sunny with a few clouds. after that, eve began to test the waters, trying to summon different types of weather. the first few tries were unsuccessful and eve felt as though she might be going insane until she finally made it rain.

while eve is aware of her powers, she still struggles to fully understand them or how to use them. she feels as though the one time she made it rain was just a lucky coincidence and is anxious she might cause weather that could destroy or kill people when she gets upset.

plant manipulation: she can create and manipulate plants of all sorts. she can cause plants to grow, move/attack and even revive withered or dead plants (as well as cause them to wither/die). she can use her power for defense and support, cause flowers and other plants to bloom instantaneously, manipulate tree branches to use them as whip-like weapons, and use plant chemicals to heal people/objects.

drawbacks: she's powerless in areas without plants or at least the potential for plants to grow (infertile soil). limited to how long she can control them. this can drain a lot of energy when used excessively or against certain powers; fire and ice for example. although she can control poisonous plants she is not immune to them herself. they do affect her less severely than others though.

backstory
Aurora Harlow was born to a loving couple, William and Sophia. They were ecstatic to have a daughter but of course, they were young and in love then. Freshly graduated, the couple had been high school sweethearts who eloped and had a baby way before they were really ready. They tried to make it work and for a while they really were happy. All good things come to an end though. Eventually, the relationship took a turn, and having a kid only made it harder. Not too long after Rory turned six, her father was caught having an affair with his co-worker. This devastated her mother and she filed for divorce a few days later. Soon after the divorce was final the woman whisked Rory away to a new town never to see her father again. Not that he ever tried looking for her. He had started over with a new life. Why would he?

From then on it was just Rory and her mother and she was content with that. They moved to Wilmont, Washington where her grandparents lived and settled into life as normal. Her mother had landed a job pretty quickly at a local bank which paid well enough to keep their heads above the water. Things were actually going well until December of Aurora's freshman year. Two people, likely hurting during the holiday months, decided to rob the bank and they didn't care who they hurt in the process. Unfortunately, her mother was working that day, and in the midst of everything she hit the panic button to alert the cops. One of the men noticed this and fired two shots at her before fleeing. They caught him later but it didn't matter, her mother was dead. Rory was immediately placed in the care of her grandparents.

Around this time was when Rory started to act out. The loss had hit her hard and to be honest, she didn't want to deal with it. At first, she'd just grown cold and distant but eventually, she became more outgoing though not in the best way. She started to party more and worry less. Cut classes, smoke, stay out past curfew. Her grandparents have been threatening to kick her out. Then there was the night the stars fell. She was pretty drunk after yet another huge party and thought she was seeing things, naturally. But not long after that night, she started to notice weird things occurring around her like the fact that she could seemingly bring a dead flower back to life. How the hell was it possible that she had...powers? Either way, life is gonna be more interesting. Even though she can't control them completely, it sure will be fun trying.
