Years have passed since the glory days of the Justice League. Many heroes are retiring and are nothing more than mentors in their older state. However, now heroes are rising to fight off a new age of villains. Technology has advanced a great deal as well as a few natural phenomena. The villains have a new master plan, will the heroes be ready in time?

 

[Shog]

Ian, or Alfa, stood in his wolf form at a full 7 and a half feet in the training room in the Justice League space station. A robot with a sword stood at the ready opposite him. A buzzer sounded and the robot lunged at him. Alfa jumped to the side and made a gash down the side of the robots arm with his claws. The robot spun around attempting to counter-attack, but Alfa had already jumped back. The battle lasted a couple more minutes longer before the robot was finished and Alfa barely had a scratch.


"Congratulations" Batman said rolling into the room. "I think you are ready." A few years back, The Joker ruined his spine with a joy buzzer. It was activated right in the small of his back and his legs never worked since. A few years later he was avenged by Night Wing, who finished Joker off for good. "Your physical condition is above expected, your willfulness is perfect, however your mental condition does not meet the standards. But, since you appear to be stable most of the time, you are approved for the field under one condition. You mist have at least one other Hero on every mission. This way you have a chance if you break down."


Alfa wasn't entirely happy with this decision, but knew enough not to argue. He had not spent the last year in space constantly training with little contact to the Earth for a year for nothing. He could finally have a purpose again! He finished up the conversation with Batman and walked to his room to change into more casual cloths, shifting into his human form. He then made his way to one of the many living areas. This one was designed for the younger heroes who would be working together more.


Over the last year, he had learned that he wasn't a half bad cook. He mainly worked with meats. He entered the attached kitchen and started making a pork and cheese dish. There was no occasion, but it seemed people ate what he cooked if he left it out. He had no reason to believe this would be an exception.

Max sat down in the living area on top of the skyscraper. It held all of Lex's personal labs, best scientists, medical equipment, etc. He shared this upper level with his step-sister, Lisa. It also held Lex's dying body.


Lex Luthor had been diagnosed with Lung Cancer a while ago, and not treatment seemed to work. He could very well be on his last leg if nothing else worked. While Max had no blood relation to the Luthor family, Lex had changed his life and taken him in as his own. Now it was his turn to repay the favor.


Rumors had been circulating that an underground organization had accidentally developed several cures for various forms of cancer, including lung, but were wasting their resources on other projects. Max opened his lap top and scanned the internet for any possible useful information. He was getting that cure one way or another!

Luke has just finished basic training on Oa, so he decided to take the day off. He flew off, towards, towards Earth humming a happy tune. Luke then noticed his ring was nearly depleted, he was stupid not to recharge it. So, he groaned, and turned back towards Oa and landed near the battery. "Why haven't they just switched to wireless is beyond me" He said as he recharged his ring and turned back around. As Luke sped toward Earth, The new Justice League space station to be specific, he got cleared for landing and entered before heading towards living quarters and seeing Alfa. "Sup, I'm Luke, don't think we've met." Like said as he offered a handshake.

Lisa walked into the living area in the Lexcorp skyscraper, her earbuds firmly in place and walked over to her step-brother "Whatcha doing?" She asked as she swiped on her iPod. Lisa started typing on her iPod in a frenzy before finally relaxing as a movie began to play on it's screen. "Thank you BitTorrent" She said to herself before turning her attention to Max.

 

[Shog]

Max was so deep in thought that he almost didn't hear Lisa's question. He only momentarily took his eyes off of his screen to glace at her before returning his focus back to his research. "Repaying Mr. Lutor. I think there is a cure for his ailment out there, but being used for other "research". Its just plain stupid." He said, using his fingers to air quote "research". "Feel free to help, but I have almost found it."

 

[Deadkool]

"Sure, I'll bounce the signal around a bit, make it difficult to trace" Lisa took out her lap top and started typing madly "Wow, whoever you're getting this from they're good, League of Shadows? Belle Reve? I can't even play solitaire while I work." Lisa continued to bounce the signal. "Lets see, Metropolis, Gotham, Paris, Star Labs, Moscow, and finally Rome. Lets see anybody break this encryption" Lisa then minimized the tab and asked "I thought riddled for for Nigma, what do you mean repaying?"

 

[Shog]

"From what I have so far, I'm 85.6% sure its the purifiers" max said. "Most likely trying to figure out how to make a new bio-weapon. For such a new group, they sure have plenty of resources. As for Repaying Lex, we both know I owe him. My parents died, I lost everything, and was stuck in an orphanage surrounded by morons. Then one of the most powerful men in the world comes around and gives me this." he gestured around the room for emphasis with one hand. "Yah, I don't like having debts to people who can hold me to them." Then almost off handedly he whispered "Almost there!"

 

[Deadkool]

"Yeah, I wonder who's funding them. By the way, I see what you're doing, and it's noble, but you've contributed, as far as he's concerned your debt was paid a long time ago. So, a Bio-weapon that cures disease, now all we need is Admirial Ackbar, seriously, watch yourself against traps." Lisa opened a new tab and brought up a flurry of information collected on The Purifiers. "Yep, no idea who's funding them." Lisa put her feet up on the stand and turned her movie back on.

 

[Shog]

"Got it!" Max exclaimed. "Looks like I'm going to South America. Getting in will be hard, but not impossible. Then all we need is to grab the cure and get out. Maybe I'll leave them a present depending on their behavior. You wana come?" he was already making plans to have the jet fly over where he needed. From there he would fly off as Titan, his mech-suit. He would use stealth and the element of surprise for as long as possible, but after that, well, he has the artillery for when the time came.

 

[Deadkool]

"Why not, but I'm getting my Admiral Ackbar recording ready, lemme just check with and send over my suit, So, South America, exotic." Lisa pressed a few buttons on he Ipod "Okay, the warsuit is on it's way. If we find a vuvuzela I call dibs." She said as she continued to tap her Ipod. "So, anywhere specific in South America or do we have an entire continent to search?" said Lisa.

 

[Shog]

Max turned his lap top so Lisa could see the screen. It was a map of South America that refreshed every couple of seconds. Every time it refreshed, a circle got a little smaller and shifted its position slightly. "It appears to be in the Amazon, but the details are a bit foggy. These people have some serious hackers with them. we should have about a one mile radius to check by the time we get there." A small 'ding' sounded on the laptop. "And Titan is loaded. I'll meet you down in the loading bay."


Max stood up and hurried off to his room to grab a few extra supplies just in case. He then entered a private elevator that dropped him below ground into the hanger. A few people bustled about doing their jobs or prepping the plane for departure. He walked in and took his normal seat after checking Titan was properly stored. He pulled out some tools and a small project that looked kind of like a bug. while waiting for lift off, he started tinkering with the small device.

 

[The Suspicious Eye]

Maria. Maria can you hear me? "Just a minute Tracy, my dad is on the other line. I'll call you back." Ria hung up her cell phone and crossed her arms. What is is dad? Ria asks communicating with her father telepathically. Are you on your way to the space station? Ria looked around at the mall food court Yes..... Ria could sense her father glaring at her Fine! Fine, I'm going now. Ria walks out of the food court and into a secluded corner then flew up phasing out of the ceiling. Ria was on her way to the Justice League space station. When she was cleared for landing she stood in the hanger area "Geeze I'm here! Hello? Dad? Uggh where is everyone." She continued walking making her way to the living quarters.

Lisa followed behind Max and said "Seriously, the Amazon. what's next a Kryptonite ore deposit protected by The Green Lantern Corps? This whole thing screams trap, tell me you see it." Lisa pushed another button on her Ipod as her Warsuit landed in the loading bay, it was pushed onto the plane. Lisa got onto the plane and sat next to Max. "Well, just don't be upset when I get to say I told you so" Lisa retorted as she began pushing buttons on a hologram projected from her Ipod, it looked like the area Max pulled up.

 

[Shog]

Ian stopped what he was doing. He thought he heard someone enter, yet there was not warning saying the door had been opened. He carefully walked down a hall to investigate. Then he heard a noise from the room he was just in and silently headed back. He poked his head around the corner and saw Maria. Walking out he said "Jeez Maria. Would it be that much trouble just to let the computer know you are here? And then in turn I would know?"

"Look, I know this looks like a trap" Max said. "The purifiers have been trying to figure out a way to take Lexcorp down for a long time. But if there is a chance to save your dad, don't you think we should take it?" He looked back at his map and watched the circle shrink. It was now determined that the facility they were looking for was definitely in a remote location.

 

[The Suspicious Eye]

Maria glared at him and flipped her hair, truing to him. "Why should I? My father spends almost all his time here. The stupid computer should know who I am by now." She walked up closer to him and smiled patting his chest "how have you been, dodggy? Finally stopped chasing your tail?" She smiled and walked past him looking him up and down she hated to admit it but the kid had gotten cuter since she last saw him.

Jinx was laughing manically as she surfed on top of one of her bombs. "Jinx wuz here" was painted on the side as she swayed around in the air laughing. "Oh this is gonna be a blast!!! The impact will be Aaaammaaaiinnggg!" She looked at the girl beside her and smiled "Awwww come on syndi. Smile" She wriggles her finger into her dimples as she put on a smile for Syndra.

As Luke walked down the hallway and saw two meta humans he was surprised that both of them were his age. He said hello "Uh, hi, I don't think we've met, I'm Luke, who are you guys?" He asked as he walked nearer to them.

"Yeah, I'm not saying it's not worth it, I'm just saying we should be smart about it, not take any chances. When we get there, lets not just walk in, we need to be extra careful, okay?" Lisa got her earbuds out of her bag and began typing again.

 

[Shog]

Ian growled at Maria and shifted his teeth for effect after the "doggy" comment. "At least you get to go to earth!" He called after her. The new kid walked into the room and he quickly reverted his teeth back to normal, hoping he didn't see them. "Oh, uh, I'm Ian. Nice to meet you. The stuck up brat over there is Maria. She just so happens to be a Martian."

"We'll be careful" Max said. "Its not the first mission either of us have done before." He looked out the window to see Metropolis disappearing below. Sighing, he returned to his little robotics project.

 

[The Suspicious Eye]

Maria glared at Ian's comment, and walked over to the new guy. Maria flipped her hair and smiled at the new kid. She noticed his green outfit. Uggh green, Doesn't anyone know red is the new green. She smiled and looked at him "don't listen to dog boy" she leaned in closer to his ear "he has a bad case of fleas." She hooks her arm into the boys and smiles "Let me show you around the place, I'm a much better guide than the flea bag." She smiled and began pulling him away.

 

[Deadkool]

"Well, variety is the spice of life I guess, nice to meet you" Luke offered a handshake then said to Ian "So, what can you do, I assume you already guessed me from the outfit." Luke smiled and made a construct that looked like a recliner chair then sat down and laid back. "So, what's your name fair lady?" Luke said addressing Maria.

 

[Verrici]

" Oh god please Jinx. " Syndra looked to her left to see Jinx having was too much fun. Syndra was too used to this, even she decided to sit here and ride a giant missile. She sat there casually like this is an everyday thing and sat there waiting for the high velocity villains to reach the city. It finally hit her, " AND STOP CALLING ME SYNDI!" Syndra summoned an orb and shot it out towards Jinx.

 

[Deadkool]

"I'd be happy for you to show me around." Luke said as he made the chair float to follow Maria "And by the way" Luke turned to Ian "please apply cold water directly to the burn" He snickered and turned back to follow Maria. "I think I'd rather be unfashionable than have napalm coursing through my veins, inside joke, forget about it" Luke said.

 

[Shog]

Ian just rolled his eyes and returned to his cooking. If lantern boy thought "flee bag" and "dog boy" were anything good in terms of insults, he had a lot to learn. Maria had said a lot worse before, and rarely ever called him Ian in place of her many nicknames for him. Hopefully someone with a better attitude would show up soon.

 

[The Suspicious Eye]

Maria giggled and looked up at him "So I suppose your part of the green lanterns huh? Interesting what brings you here? Business or Pleasure?" She smiled as she elongated the words pleasure. She batted her eyelashes at him and smiled.

"Woah!" Jinx said as she flipped the rocked a doing a whole 360. As she made her way back to the top of the rocket and smiled. "Oh Syndi that was Awesome" she kicked her arms and legs up in joy. She swayed the rocked over to Syndra and smiled "Oh lets do it again!" The 16 rockets were slowly and slowly heading toward the Luthor's building.

 

[Shog]

An alarm went off inside the plane. Max looked at the alert and saw 16 missiles heading towards his home. Without saying a word to Lisa, he ran to his armor and pulled it on. He yanked open a door and jumped out. He activated the rocket boosters and flew off towards the missiles. They were in his vision and he took 6 solid shots and 6 of the missiles blew up. As he got closer, he noticed 2 passengers. "Jinx" he muttered to himself.

 

[The Suspicious Eye]

Jinx pouted as her missiles blew up, "Awwww come on Maxi-pad! You suck all the fun out of things." She turned to Syndra and shouted "You keep them safe I'll hold off Maxi-pad." As she gets closer to Max she pulls out her gigantic plasma cannon and aims it toward Max.

 

[Deadkool]

In a sarcastic tone Luke responded "Actually I'm not a Green Lantern, Im apart of another group of intergalactic protectors that use a green light to create wild constructs. Really though, I just finished basic training so


I took a day off. Luke said as he followed

Lisa saw her brother run over to his armor, she followed, putting on her war suit and assisted as she said "Anti-ordinance defense, activate" Two large machine guns assembled on her armor and shot down another six rockets . She turned to Max and said "No rest for the wicked" and continued trying to destroy the missiles.
