Fandom The New X-Men: Mutants Rising

Vincent eyed the man who had interrupted them and realised they hadn't even budged from when they first started to talk. Oops. He apologised quickly as they went into the classroom as directed and he found himself a seat toward the back of the room as the teacher moved to the front of the class and surveyed the gathered students for a moment.

" "Good morning, 1B. I am your teacher, your mentor, the one you will come to if you have any questions. My name is Logan."

He looked around at his fellow students nervously, the one class he was currently dreading? Art class. He knew he wouldn't be able to do just landscapes and such, and he just... wasn't comfortable with his power. At all. Not after what had happened.

After quietly panicking about his embarrassing trail he left, Maxwell's attention was forced onto a semi-tall, muscular man that looked way too similar to the Wolverine he once read about in his younger days.

When the man's eyes scoured the room, Maxwell silently tapped his foot onto the ground so the trail of dirt would either move out of the classroom or out the window.

The pebbles, dirt and rocks decided to do the second option, flying to the window and brushing past some students' faces and heads . It crashed through the glass and back outside. Maxwell remained calm, his face stoic.

'Fuck, why is this happening!?' He thought, curling his fingers tightly.

Maxwell sat down quietly on his seat and didn't look up afterwards.

(I ain't forgetting about the others, dun worry.)

Yen, despite appearing calm, was all over the place. Her back was sweating waterfalls and her scales were getting worse. She just hoped they hadn't appeared more obvious. "Gosh, this sucks. Being nervous, sucks...." She thought angrily. Yen was too busy thinking to see Maxie's rocks start rising up. It wasn't until a few brushed her face when she payed attention. "What the h***?" She said quietly, looking at the rocks.

Suddenly the various forms of earth went towards the window and eventually crashed right through them. Yen looked at the red-haired man and raised an eyebrow. She sighed and figured that we were all new, and didn't exactly know how to control their mutant powers.

She had read a file on this one before. Mr. Howlett, James, preferably known as Logan, or more preferably, Wolverine. THE Wolverine. Metal radiated from within him, a unique resonance. Near indestructible metal, only penetrable by bullets made of the same material. It was more or less trivial knowledge, when Paul had taught her this during one of their breaks from the frontlines. It seemed that was Logan's only weakness, however. She technically could rip the metal from him, but there was something of a resistance put up by it when she scouted out her ability. She didn't peruse it further out of her promise not to kill anyone. Yet. The metal had been bonded entirely with Logan's skeleton and his claws, making it extremely difficult for her to even grasp it with her mental prowess.

When the rocks shot towards the windows by her, probably by accident from an overload by the redhead, her hand shot up, snatching one right out of the air. The window pane behind her distorted, bent, and then curled around her in a defensive half-sphere, as more rocks headed her way. They clanged against the metal, slid past, and smashed through the glass, sending shards scattering all over the floor in front of her. It may have looked like an impressive feat, to create a shield without a problem. The fact is, however, Morris was just as surprised at the appearance of the shield. The metal had bent to her will just because she had simply thought that she needed a shield. She had no control over the whole ability. Her emotions did. It didn't seem like a nuisance, but if she relied on feelings to get her through, it was better off that she went home right now. She cast a look at the warped pane, now shaped like a semi-sphere around her. The excessive metal usage had caused the rest of the window's panes to shrink and warp. She took a deep breath and exhaled, calming her adrenaline. The metal shield slowly sank back into its origin, and attempted to return the rest of the pane back in place. It did a rather messy job, and it seemed that the panes were permanently stuck on 'ugly distortion' mode. Morris glanced at the others in the class, before turning to the window to hide herself biting her lower lip, while creating an excuse to do so by chucking the rock she had caught out of the broken window. She dusted her gloves and turned towards Logan. She opened her mouth to say something, paused, realised she had nothing to say. It looked exactly as it had looked. She gave a exasperated sigh and slumped down onto a chair, crossing one leg over the other, and gritted her teeth.

Okay, that did it. The girl near Yen had taken a part of the window pane. This action caused the whole window to warp incredibly. She understood the fact that the rocks headed right towards the girl (boy?). They would have hurt her, so she made a shield, from the metal window pane....

Yen had jumped when the action happened and the scales worsened. They now covered half of her face, turning one of her eyes an amber hue. Her eye looked like one of a reptile. It was FREAKING embarrassing for her to look like that. This never happened to her, yet it happened now. It was the first day of school, and it just got a lot worse. This was also, one of the few times she started to have a slight panic attack

The black-haired girl looked to the girl/boy who stood up and tried to explain to Logan. No words came out, though, and she gave a sigh and slumped onto a chair. She crossed her leg and said nothing more. Yen decided not to say anything, seeing the situation COULDN'T get any worse. She suddenly got a cold feeling. What if she suddenly turned into the 20-30 feet serpent she called a dragon. That would be very interesting. Yen shook her head and silently swore she wouldn't do it, not now at least.

Finally raising his head after hearing the pang of rocks against metal, he glanced at the windows where his mess crashed into. A blonde, long-haired male was standing near the window panel...or was it a woman? Hell, Maxwell was too glum to think about it now.

His red irises swept to the front of the class-room as a nearly scale-covered girl slumped on her chair after standing up for something. He sighed. "Can we just get this briefing over with?" Maxwell muttered, lowering his head again.

Riley sat in the classroom as her fellow students wrecked havoc. At first she had even scared by the sudden rocks flying towards the windows, some of them grazing her cheek first. Then out of nowhere the window had been destroyed and all the while their so called teacher just sat with his arms crossed. She couldn't help it. Trying to cover it with her mouth, she started giggling before it turned into a guffawing laugh. She felt the teacher raise an eyebrow at her outburst.

"S-sorry! It's just... It was just so funny, seeing everyone nervous and excited. I mean I did it too!" She said, lifting the frozen bottle up so they could see it. "Good thing, we're here to learn right?

Logan sat quietly while she spoke. He hadn't been surprised at the sudden outbursts of powers, but his instincts had made him twitch. After an awkward silence, he just smirked at his students. "That's right. You're all here to learn. Thank you for the display of your powers, but you may sit down." He gave the metal-girl a nod towards her chair. They were an interesting bunch this year. Logan hadn't taken any students the last two years, and now he was back teaching a class of rookies.

"I'm not much for formal stuff. But as said you are assigned to me. That means you'll have some classes with me, some regular boring classes with other teachers and students, but most importantly you'll be sparring and learning to control yourself and your powers with me. A schedule will be sent to you when necessary, but you all live here, so it shouldn't be a problem." He informed them, having stood up, still with his arms crossed. "1B consists of all in this room. It's a small class but a perfect sized team. That's what you're gonna be this year, a team. So you better get to know each other, cause nothing splits up a team more than distrust." He gave a pointed look at Morris first, then to the red-head, having noticed they were the ones who would probably have the most problems with teamwork. He gave them all a smirk. "If you don't have any questions, stand up and give a brief introduction of yourselves."

Yen watched as all of a sudden, Riley had burst out into laughter. Yen laughed a little under her breath. "S-sorry! It's just... It was just so funny, seeing everyone nervous and excited. I mean I did it too!" Riley said, smiling and holding up the frozen water bottle. Yen smiled, knowing she had also let her power get out of control. Well, sort of. Her real power would have to be revealed outside in a bigger space.

Logan, their mentor, spoke up after a long uncomfortable silence. "That's right. You're all here to learn. Thank you for the display of your powers, but you may sit down," He said after the awkwardness. On his face was placed a smirk. He probably, clearly, thought this was very amusing. Yen sighed, but silently agreed with the teacher.

Logan then continued, "I'm not much for formal stuff. But as said you are assigned to me. That means you'll have some classes with me, some regular boring classes with other teachers and students, but most importantly you'll be sparring and learning to control yourself and your powers with me. A schedule will be sent to you when necessary, but you all live here, so it shouldn't be a problem." Yen nodded and made note of the other classes with other teachers. This school was bound to have classes that taught them something else, too.

He stood up now, arms crossed. Logan then started talking again, "1B consists of all in this room. It's a small class but a perfect sized team. That's what you're gonna be this year, a team. So you better get to know each other, cause nothing splits up a team more than distrust." Yen blinked and then started realizing there weren't that many people after all. It was just them and now they would be a team. It all started making sense. Then, Yen noticed the made specifically looked at two students, the rock man and the masculine girl (feminine boy?)

"If you don't have any questions, stand up and give a brief introduction of yourselves," He ended with and smirked.

Yen figured she would go first. She stood up and said, "My name is Yen Nguyen and I am currently 22 years old. It is nice to meet you all." She didn't add anymore, figuring she shouldn't give a demonstration of her power.

Listening to Logan's speech made Maxwell nearly nod off to sleep. As much as he was excited to be here, in a room full of mutants like him, he was still bored. He was a party-pooper, not much enthusiasm lived in this guy. Well, except if the subject was geology or land-based...

Schedules, powers, learning, team...blah, blah, nothing related to stuff that he wanted to hear. Until the introductions part. Maxwell lifted his head for the third time to see who was gonna say hello, my name is whatever and my power is this and that.

The woman that he bumped into was first to introduce herself, much to Maxwell's surprise. 'Yen Nguyen and 22 years old? A year younger than me.' Maxwell thought, inspecting the scales on Yen's face and arms. 'Well, at least you don't need to show your powers or anything, it's right there.'

After Yen's introduction, he decided to go up next. Slowly standing up and straightening himself, Maxwell said with a clear voice.

"I go by the name of Maxwell Tierra, I'm 23 years old and please don't bother me with your senseless chatter. Thank you."

Maxwell was pretty sure that everyone, also saw his power, much to his dislike. He destroyed a window, for gods sake.

Yen had sat down and was now listening to the next person to introduce themselves. It was the red haired male. Yen gave her full attention to him. "I go by the name of Maxwell Tierra, I'm 23 years old and please don't bother me with your senseless chatter. Thank you," he said loud and clear.

"Interesting. Maxwell Tierra, age 23. He's only a year older than me, also doesn't seem like a people person," Yen thought. She figured he would be interesting. Yen then waited for the next person to introduce themselves.

(Sorry for the small post, not sure what else to say... xc)

She noticed that glance Logan cast at her when he mentioned the word 'team'. If he thought she was not one to cooperate in a team, he should have thought better. She didn't try to be a buddy of anyone in particular, but she had worked in a team before. Cooperation was needed for most things to succeed, and she promised a guarantee of 100% satisfaction over every task undertaken. She let Logan finish and watched as the girl, whom she had nicknamed "the girl outside" due to her seeming enjoyment of being outside the class, introduced herself as Yen Nguyen. Vietnamese, Morris recognised from the name. The redhead came next. Tierra, Maxwell. Tierra, as in Terra, earth, and the ability to wield rocks and earth. How fitting. He made a statement, as if to assure the others of his aloof persona. Morris sniffed, and rubbed her nose, before switching which legs were over the other.

"Morris, Lana." was her exceedingly short reply. They knew enough of her. They knew she had an affinity with metal, which was enough to determine a weakness. They should know her emotions triggered her metallokinesis to react, and could also use that as well. They didn't need to know more.

Riley nodded along as the introductions were made. They seemed well... Interesting enough, these people. Some perhaps more unfriendly than others, but she was sure she could break the ice and melt their barriers. She giggled slightly under her breath at her own stupid puns.

Seeing as no one else was getting up, she rose from her seat. "I'm Riley. My powers are well... Ice things." She said lamely. "I enjoy long walks on the beach, " she continued before realizing this might not have been the best audience for stupid jokes. "That was a joke, I can't be out in the sun too long, since I'll melt. Oh well! It's nice to meet you all." She gave them a smile and a little wave, before accidentally dropping the frozen bottle in her hand. It hit the ground and broke into pieces. "Whoops. Sorry, Mimir, I'll get you a new bottle." She told the boy next to her sheepishly.

Mimir listened closely to everyone's introductions, he was going to write all of this down after class in case he'd forget. When Riley stood up to speak he realized he'd be next and he felt a sliver of panic building. His concentration broke when the frozen bottle slipped out of her hand and shattered. Her apology didn't feel necessary, he had no plans to ask to get it back.“Don't worry about it” he mumbled to her. She was nice, he really hoped they'd become friends.

He took a deep breath before he stood up, feeling a bit nervous. “Hi,,, I'm M-Mimir and...” he hesitated if he wanted to mention his powers, everyone else had so much more interesting mutations. A few seconds passed and he realized he was just standing there awkwardly “yes... nice to meet you all” he finished and sat back down again.

Hopefully he'd be able to go the rest of the day without embarrassing himself.

The quiet brunette stood at his desk and looked across at his classmates, having a feeling he was going to forget almost all their names in the next half an hour.

"I am Vincent Rochat."

He didn't want to mention his mutation, or the fact he refused to embrace it and he quickly say down. At least he wasn't the only one giving a short introduction, so he didn't feel too awkward about it.

(Short post coz ill D: )

Logan was quiet for a moment after listening to the poor introductions from his new students. "Very well then." He looked at the clock. 9:56 am. "Since it's the first day, I'll allow you some free time to drop your bags and perhaps get to know each other better than those measly introductions. Your dorm rooms are all next to each other and can be found further down the hall. Meet up for your first training class with me at 12:30 pm sharp." He said as he dismissed then, walking out of the classroom and disappearing down the halls.

"He didn't actually tell us which dorms were ours, did he?" Riley asked quietly to herself after Logan had left. "Hey are you a natural red head, or is it dyed?" She turned to Maxie and asked. He had seemed cranky all morning, but Riley thought for sure, he shouldn't stay mad at them, since they were supposed to be a team.

The Wolverine-like man dismissed them after talking about dorms, time and first training class. After this, he left the classroom and the chatter started to pick up again.

As Maxwell was about to leave the classroom as well, the girl with the name Riley abruptly asked him about his hair colour. His red irises slightly widened in surprise and his mouth pursed to a line in annoyance.

"It's natural." He replied bluntly before staring at her own hair. "What about yours, hmm? Natural or is it because of your mutant powers?"

@khuyen

She smirked at him. His face shouted annoyance but he had still replied to her. And asked her a question in return! "Well I'd like to think it's natural. It's always been this way, but I guess it's part of my mutation. If we stuck our heads together we'd look like the Japanese flag. Or the Danish one!" She told him with a serious look on her face, even though she was joking.

"Hey since we're all basically dorm-mates, we should go together!" Riley said loud enough for them all to hear, although not actually sure if anyone wanted to go together. There seemed be a bunch of lone wolves in their group. She looked at the brown-haired guy that sat in the back and smiled. "Vincent, was it?" He was the only one, she hadn't really seen yet.

'This girl struck me like an icicle.' Maxwell thought humourlessly as Riley talked about 'sticking their heads together and looking like the Japanese or Danish flag. Before he could retort, Riley spoke up to the class and said the word that made the red-head quickly shuffle to the exit, "Together!"

Luckily, the ice maiden turned to french man named Vincent and started striking up a conversation. Biting his lip, Maxwell left the classroom with a sweaty hand running through his red locks.

As soon as Logan said his piece, Morris stood up, her eyes following him as he left the room. The door shut behind him, and immediately, the room burst into a cacophony of voices, most of which comprised of the lady's whose hands froze everything they touched. Morris picked up the duffel bag she had left by the window and slung it over one shoulder, watching the Riley girl try to make conversation with Maxwell. Morris could not contain a sigh as the Riley girl failed to make any sort of visible impression on the redhead. She had to admit, it was amusing watching them. It sort of reminded her of Kingsley and Namara back at her organisation, whom she had great interest watching.

Morris set her bag down, and leaned against the window, next to the shattered one, and studied the Riley girl, who seemed impossible to get down. Everything was a silver lining, even the clouds it rested on. A picture of absolute positivity, so much that it may have burned Morris, who was not known for her cheeriness. Maxwell left with a huff, a disgruntled look on his face, but Riley seemed unperturbed and went on to chat up yet another one, the one named Vincent. Good grief, did anything slow her down? Morris had the look of amusement shining dimly in her eyes as she folded her arms and continued to watch.

Yen had listened to everyone give their introductions. "So we have Maxwell, Lana (prefers Morris), Riley, Mimir, Vincent, and I. This will be interesting," Yen murmured under her breath. This was certainly an interesting bunch. Yen hoped this "team", as Logan said, would work out. She had heard of certain mutants that had gone rouge and things. Let's just hope that wouldn't happen to them.

"Since it's the first day, I'll allow you some free time to drop your bags and perhaps get to know each other better than those measly introductions. Your dorm rooms are all next to each other and can be found further down the hall. Meet up for your first training class with me at 12:30 pm sharp," Logan finally said after all their short introductions. Yen noted 12:30 PM in her head. It was best not to be late again. She supposed she just liked to help people. Right, now let's go to our rooms.

Yen grabbed her bag, which had been invisible until now, and headed out. She then decided to leave. Yen wiped the sweat from her forehead, it was then she found her scales had started to disappear. "It's about time after all," Yen thought to herself, smiling a little. She looked down at her hands, they were just about okay. Geez, was it hot in here? Yen decided to take her cardigan off. Normally, Yen would never do that, but she felt at home here, she figured it wouldn't hurt. She grabbed the fabric of the sleeves and pulled it off.

At that moment, her tattoo/birthmark was shown. The jade dragon on her back smiled wisely from its pose at anyone who was behind her. With her every movement, it moved with her. She stretched and wrapped her cardigan around her waist. "Now, let's go," she whispered under her breath.

"Vincent, was it?"

Oh, someone was talking to him again. This time it was a pretty girl, pale with white hair. He smiled and nodded in response to her question, watching as some of the other students started to leave the room.

"Oui." He replied. "Is a pleasure to meet, and who would you be?"

Maxwell did his best on following Logan's instructions on finding his dorm. "Further down the hall, all next to each other..." He muttered. "What bloody great directions he gave us. I'm pretty sure my luggage should be here. Damn Transrockportation. Should've gotten it my-"

A rock-shaped briefcase blasted through one of the hallway windows and slammed against the wall, making some of the students near the area either scream or jump in surprise. Maxwell stopped dead in his tracks and hissed. Not because of his stupid luggage flying into the window and BREAKING IT, no, instead, his skin was being carved onto. The curse was in-effect and it made the poor red-head even grumpier.

Maxwell blinked his eyes a few times, his vision was brighter with Solum. Gritting his now sharp teeth, he made a dash for his briefcase clad in rock and made his way to the dorms. Which was, exactly what Logan had told them, close together. A plate with his name on it was attached to the front of one of the rooms and he quickly yanked the door open before slamming it shut.

Two windows broken and it was just his first day.

Yen sighed and shouldered the bag with most of her belongings. She looked around, looking for her dorm. Then, she heard a huge bang hit the wall. She looked behind her back to see a rock shaped briefcase on the floor. She squeezed her eyes shut and realized it was Maxwell. She sighed, but shrugged. It would take a while before mastering their powers. She then looked to Maxwell and saw that he had begun to glow. Well, more like his markings were. Man, he looked angrier, grumpier?, than before.

Maxwell then made a dash for his suitcase and then headed further down the hall. She sighed when she heard his dorm room slam shut. Slamming doors wasn't a big thing with her. Her parents always said not to slam doors, it made other people annoyed. Yen realized that was mostly true a long time ago. "Well, I suppose this would be pretty normal for newbies like us," Yen said quietly. She then proceeded down the hall like Maxwell.

Yen walked to the room labeled with her name on a plate to the right of the door. She opened the door and saw her suitcase had arrived and was neatly placed on front of her bed. She smiled, silently fist pumping due to the delivery service not loosing her things. Yen walked over to her bed and threw her bag on top. She smiled, knowing there would be no more rent paying. She then proceeded to unpack her clothes into the drawers in the room. She stretched and smiled softly.

"Home sweet, home," she said very happy.

Riley's eyes followed first Maxwell out the door, then Yen. Tsk, what's so wrong with going together?! We're all going the same way anyway. She turned back to Vincent, as he spoke. "Oh you're accent is... French? Ah, I'm Riley... As I said in my introduction, but I guess it's hard to remember everyone." Unless you weren't paying attention. She shrugged to herself and stood up, grabbing her backpack.

She wasn't normally this perky. Her nervousness just had a strange way of showing itself, and she had always liked talking too much over silence. Thinking back to her old home, her eyes glazed. "Promise me, that you'll be sweet and make the most out of your new home, Riley." She had made a promise, and she would keep it, so whether these people liked it or not, they were going to be her new family. Snapping herself out of it, she fidgeted with her backpack-straps and looked up at the others again.

"Well, we should get going to our dorm rooms, right?" She grinned at Mimir, before turning to Morris, who had been watching her. She was so hard to read, Riley thought. But at least, she didn't look as annoyed as rock-dropper had been. How rude to walk out on a conversation, she thought to herself, clicking her tongue. "Are you coming, Morris?" She looked up at the girl, leaning against the window.

Vincent laughed sheepishly and nodded. "My remembering of the many names is not too well. Faces I can remember, names like to do the escaping from me. It is nice to meet you, Riley."

He got up from where he'd been sitting and grabbed his bag. "This is all so exciting, no?"

Exciting, and kind of daunting... At least for him. "So, does anybody know which way our rooms are?"
