A child is born in secret. Half Angel, half Demon.

Neither Heaven nor Hell are happy now.

So in an attempt to kill the child, they kill the parents. Unknowing that the child is hidden with mortals.

Twenty-three years pass. The child seeming to have disappeared...

But Heaven and Hell aren't quite finished, they still want the abomination dealt with. So they send out a hunter to kill the child. Many weeks pass, the hunter unable to succeed, then he enlists help from a woman said to know how to find the child...

What will happen when he finds the Halfling?

A young man around the mortal age of 23 walked the street where the "lost child" supposedly lived. Sadly, he was misinformed once again. A growl escaped from his throat as he punched the dumpster in the alley.

This child has caused him nothing but problems ever since he was assigned to hunt down and kill this....thing that was created so long ago.

After an hour of walking around he walked into a bar and ordered a drink as he rubbed the back of his shoulder. He didn't look like much, but he was powerful. As he sat there his cell phone rang his dark eyes looked at the screen, an unknown number calling with a grunt he answered it. "Hello." he spoke into the phone before taking a sip of his beer. "Hmm...fine. I'll see if this woman is a good source or not for myself. What's the address or how can I locate her?" He hung up the phone after the call was done and ran a hair through his raven black hair which wasn't too short, but just enough to spike it in a messy look.

As picked his six foot figure up form the chair he paid for his drink and headed out the door. Once more he was on the hunt. As he walked down the dark streets he stuffed his right hand into his baggy, faded blue jeans which had a rip at the right knee. To cover his upper body he simply wore a white t-shirt with a black leather jacket over it. Around his neck was a silver chain as if he was dog. This chain however had no end to it as if it was meant to be on him for a reason.

He arrived at the place that he was given and knocked on the door with the side of his fist. *This better be the right place* he thought to himself as his eyes glanced around to make sure there were no Angels. He hated Angels they were always around and in his way. The only person he saw walking this late was a woman around his age walking alone. Good thing he wasn't some sick demon that killed decent looking woman for the hell of it. Though, he had some female Demons and Angels come after him, both for his blood and just to have their way with him. A shiver at the thought shot down his spine as his eyes went back to the door, waiting.

Her feet hurt, her back hurt, and she could honestly go straight to sleep. Working at a diner all day wasn't as fun as one would think. Sure, it brought money in, but it sure was exhausting. Maybe if she hadn't taken the job at the diner she would have a chance to do other things... Maybe pursue her career in phot- "Lillian! Close up the register, doll." Her thoughts were interrupted by her manager's high pitched voice. Honestly, listening to that voice all the time got really old. "Got it, Charlotte."

She pulled the door to the diner closed, locked it, and then handed the keys to Charlotte. "I'm off. See you next week." Turning she started down the road, her shoes making soft thuds as they hit the pavement. Lillian always walked home, finding it better than driving... Not to mention she couldn't manage to make enough to get a car. Even when she did have enough... The money always went missing. Bank account hacked, Car accident... The list went on and on.

Lillian was around five foot eight, a decent height for a woman. She had a good figure too, not skinny, but just enough curves. Her hair was extremely blond, reflecting the moonlight wonderfully. Her skin was pale, making it seem as though she wasn't a fan of sunlight. Her pants were a dark denim, shirt a simple light blue button up. It wasn't quite the diner's choice, but hey, Charlotte didn't care.

The walk home was boring, the same thing she had seen almost every day. An apartment complex, a grocery store, gas station, library, night club... She learned how to ignore the stupid people and keep going. Her house sat on a street that looked just like most others. Rows and rows of houses. It was cozy though. A nice, quiet place.

She turned onto her street, looking down and digging into her purse. The keys avoided her the entire time... "Where did I put my keys?" She stopped at the bottom of the stairs, still searching through her purse. Ah-ha! There they were. She pulled out the glinting ring of keys and glanced up, freezing in her steps. "Um... Can I help you with anything?" Stepping up onto the first step she looked to him, her sapphire eyes searching his.

Lillian had this uncanny ability to... Read people's minds. You'd think it would help her... But no. It was almost a cruse. She could also find people. Anyone. Give her a name, address, piece of clothing. Lillian could help. The police force had seemed like a good option at one time... But a certain deputy was a pig, always trying to corner her... She had left very quickly.

Though with both of these abilities, she couldn't quite figure out who this mysterious man was. His mind was blocked, not allowing her any access into his identity... And it honestly scared her. The only people that could shield their minds were... Demons.

Emmett's eyes looked her up and down, slowly. Not in a sexual way just sizing her up and making sure she fit the description that was given to him. "Lillian I'm assuming?" he asked as he stepped down to her level with his hands still in his pockets. "The name's Emmett. I was told to come to you if I need help in finding someone. Are you as good as they say you are?" his eyes sized her up once more when he stood some what near her on the step, but yet kept his distance for both their sakes. "I'm not here to cause trouble unless you plan on doing something." he snorted coldly not really in the mood to have a fight break out, but than again she didn't even look like somebody who would put up a fight. "It's been a long day of disappoints, hopefully you're not another one." he mumbled as he pulled out his right hand and simply scratched the back of his head.

Lillian watched him, standing her ground. She wasn't going to give him any sign of being afraid... Though she was. "Yes." She sighed lightly, glancing around and then looking back to him. "Who are you wanting to find? Ex girlfriend? Lost parent? Someone that owes you money?" Turning she walked up the stairs, putting the key into the lock and turning it. She pushed the door open, glancing back at him. "I've been on my feet all day long, I don't really want to stand out here and chit-chat. So if you want to continue this conversation then come inside." Stepping up into the house she kicked her shoes off by the door, letting out a content sigh when her feet touched the floor. Reaching over she flipped on a light switch, bathing the room in light. It was a simple house, dark brown walls and a wooden floor. A brown leather couch was pressed against the far wall, a glass table in front of that. Tall, black book shelves against all four walls, completely full with books. A table was perched beside the door with a lamp on it. A mirror sat behind the door, a coat rack beside that. There was no TV... Anywhere in the room. Lillian had just never enjoyed aimlessly sitting in front of the thing... So she had gotten rid of it.

"You coming?" She asked, looking back to him once more before she stepped farther into the house, setting her purse on the table beside the door. No, she wasn't worried about him stealing it and running off. He looked to tired to even try right now.

Emmett watched her go into the house, "I don't have much of a choice, but to follow." he stated as he stepped into her house. He closed the door with his right hand. A soft click from the door was heard when it closed, then he walked over to the room she was in. "From the only this I know of this person. She's around 23 give or take and clearly a female. I don't know here name, but I do know she lives in this area." he stated as he leaned his body on the door frame to the room his hands staying in his pocket and his right ankle over the left. His dark eyes watched Lillian closely, "If you don't mind me asking...How do you track all these people down? By the way...Nice place." his eyes fell to his feet for a few seconds before coming back up to meet her eyes. Emmett couldn't tell her exactly what he was looking for. After all who believe him? Oh I'm looking for a woman who half Demon and half Angel. Got any idea where I could find her? Emmett shook his head at the thought of him asking it that with, but a small smirk came on his face at the thought. He found it slightly funny as he pictured somebody's reaction if he asked it that way.

Lillian had made her way into the kitchen, opening the fridge and pulling out a bottle of water. She twisted it open, making her way around to the other side of the kitchen. Bringing it to her lips she took a sip, listening to Emmett as he talked. When he stated what he knew about the person she choked, setting the bottle down on the counter and then pressing her hand into her chest. Her coughing finally stopped, Lillian swallowing shallowly. "That's not a lot to go off of," She choked out, clearing her throat. Lifting the water she took another drink, swallowing quickly this time. "How do I find them?... I have a gift for finding people, you could say..." Turning she leaned back against the counter, crossing her arms lightly as she watched him. "What are you smiling about? You don't think I can find her?" She bit her bottom lip, trying once again to nudge into his mind. Maybe if she could just get past the barrier... Her concentration was so put to his mind, that her eyes slowly closed and her teeth released her bottom lip... Lillian almost looked like she was sleeping.

While she was choking on her water he didn't bother to move a muscle instead he simply raised a brow. "Wrong pipe? And it's not my fault. People now a days don't give me much to go on when they hire me to hunt somebody down." he told her with a sigh as he shrugged a shoulder. The smirk had faded from his face quickly when she mentioned him smirking, "Like I said...let's hope you're not a disappointment like the others were." he eyed her a bit when she seemed to be sleeping. "Is another one of your gifts sleeping while standing up as well?" he asked as he pushed off the wall and stood straight now, without his hands in his pockets. "Usually I don't need somebody like you to help me find my prey....but this woman has been avoiding us for a long time." he rubbed the back of his neck, closed his eyes and leaned his head back slightly to stretch it out.

Even if Lillian would be able to get into his mind it wouldn't be a pretty sight in there. Besides the fact of the knowledge he knows about both worlds, Demons, Angels, mortals and powers. Emmett was special as well for a demon. Just like any demon he had power, speed and his senses heightened. If he so chose he could transform his right hand into demonic arm which mainly turned into a claw that he ripped his enemies to pieces to and to block attacks. It was hard as a rock. But, she would see his 'other half', his demonic form which doesn't play nice with others. Lillian would be able to see people's worse nightmares come reality thanks to Emmett's demonic form.

With another sigh Emmett let his hand fall to his side, "What kind of information to you actually need in order to find her? The last we ever saw of her was when she was an infant so you can imagine how hard it is to track somebody down who basically vanished into thin air 23 years ago about."

Her eyes opened slowly, Lillian gazing over at him. Emmett really was a strange character. "Maybe if you would put your guard down I could," She muttered under her breath, looking down at her feet. "Something that used to be hers. A blanket... A shirt..." Wiggling her toes she sighed lightly, reaching over toward her water. "Oh! I'm so sorry! Do you want anything? Something to drink? Eat? A chair to sit in?" She pushed herself up off the counter, eyes slightly wide. How inconsiderate! She hadn't even offered him a chair to sit in... Reaching up she pushed her hair out of her face, watching him for a second before she started around the kitchen. She pulled out a chair from the kitchen table, turning it around for him.

The kitchen was similar to the living room with it neutral colors, the table and chairs a dark brown, walls cream, counters black, fridge white. It was homey...

"Water?" Lillian asked, glancing back to him for a second. She didn't wait on a reply though, pulling open the fridge and grabbing one. Setting it on the table she turned and pulled out a chair for herself and then sat down. "Sit, please."

"What did you say under your breath?" he asked as he took a seat crossing his arms over his chest now. He shook his head, "Like I said how am I suppose to get something of hers when we cannot even find her?" his eyes looked at the glass of water before he grabbed it and took a sip from it. He stared into the glass as if watching the movement of the moving water.

"Maybe this was a mistake to come here. I don't have anything that would let you locate her." he stated softly as he placed the glass on the table. "Sorry to waste your time." he stood up, stretched and started to head towards the door now. This was a waste of time clearly he wasn't going to need this woman anymore unless he found something of the child's, but how? He sighed as he ran his right hand through his hair, "Damn it!" he muttered under his breath as he opened the front door.

Lillian watched him, sighing lightly. At least he drank a bit of water... So she needed some more stuff to go off of. That didn't mean his trip had been a waste. "I can help. I just need more inform- Hey!" She stood up, following after him. "Emmett! I can help." He didn't stop though, continuing on through the living room. It hadn't been a waste of time to come here! If he would just listen to her for a second.

"How do you know the child is even alive? She could have died all those years ago." Lillian followed after him, right on his heels. She stopped in the middle of the living room, knowing it was no use trying to stop him. He had already searched long and hard for this girl, yet he continued coming up empty.

"Is she an angel or a demon?" Lillian asked, crossing her arms lightly over her chest. Maybe that would get his attention.

As soon as the words 'Angel or Demon' hit his ears he froze in his tracks. Luckily, his back was towards Lillian so she couldn't have seen his eyes widen slightly. Emmett turned back around to her, "She was born of both, angel and demon. She is still alive because of the balance between Heaven and Hell is off. What do you know of angels and demons anyways?" he asked stuffing his left hand in his jean pocket. "Her parents were killed because they decided to cross the line and fall in love." he snorted as he looked off to the side, "Anyways, if I don't have anything of hers...how would you be able to track her for me?" he questioned her as he eyed her.

Lillian smirked lightly when he froze, feeling like she had accomplished something. One eyebrow raised as he talked about the Half-ling. "Oh. That is interesting. I know a lot, considering I have more angels coming to me than anything." Stepping back she turned, heading toward the book shelf beside the kitchen door. Reaching up she grabbed a black leather book and pulled it down. It was an old, worn down book. The thick binding falling apart in the back, pages ripped out.

"I must say, I was surprised when a demon came to me, seeking help. Normally pride gets in the way of seeking help. You must be desperate." Stepping away from the shelf she opened the book, flipping through some of the pages. "This is my log book, of sorts. I write down anyone that has come to seek help, who they were looking for, and a piece of what they gave me." She ran her fingers over a few of the names and then fingered a piece of light blue silk. "I need you to tell me exactly what you were told when you were sent on this mission. You may have a key piece of information that I need..."

He wrinkled his nose as she said the word 'desperate', "I am not desperate." he snorted as he stuffed his hands into his jean pockets. When she opened the book he walked over to her, standing behind her slightly as she ran a finger over the names. "Don't worry. I don't plan on harming you. I'm not that kind of guy who just aimless hunts and hurts innocent people." he told her softly as his eyes quickly read the names to follow along. "How did you now I was a demon anyways?" he asked softly and watched her finger a piece of light blue silk.

Emmett turned his head off to the side, "I only know the history of her really. Her father was a demon and the mother was an angel. They kept their love hidden for months, long enough to have this baby girl who set the balance off." he walked over to a window, moved the curtain with the back of his hand and peered out. "Her father protected them against all the odds. Angels and demons. Her mother was able to place the child here on Earth, hidden." he let the curtain fall back into place and turn to face her. "Both parents died protecting her as if they knew something." he sighed, then looked up to her. "I told you what I know. Sometimes I have to figure out the rest and try to figure out more." he snorted, "The higher ups don't release or know everything either. Clearly."

Lillian laughed lightly, shaking her head at him. "I'm not worried about you harming me." She flipped to the very last page, reading over the last name and then looking over to him. "I couldn't get into your head. Your mind is shielded by... something. Normally only demons can do that." Watching him she bit her bottom lip slightly, her mind flying.

An angel and demon... Coming together as one and having a child. That sounded like... Nah. Not possible.

Shaking her head lightly she looked back down at the book. A pen. She needed a pen. Standing up she stepped over, opening up a small black box on the shelf and pulling out a silver pen.

"What shall we call our mystery girl?" She asked, sitting back down and pulling the book into her lap. Lillian looked over to him, her eyes glancing over his face before she looked back down at the book.

Like most demons, Emmett was very handsome. But something about him gave Lillian a shiver. Maybe it was the fact that he almost acted helpless when he came to her... But in truth he wasn't. Emmett could kill her with one hand if he wanted. Yet he repeatedly told her he wouldn't.

Age: 23 Race: Halfling Name: ?

She wrote down what she knew in the book, leaving the name a simple question mark for now. They could always fill that in later...

"You can pick the name. I don't care what we call this mystery woman." he stretched his arms over his head, but a sudden crash came through the window. A white winged male tackled Emmett to the floor.

"Son of bi-" Emmett started to growl, but was cut off when the Angel punched the back of his head. Emmett laid there motionless.

The Angel snorted as he stood up, "This piece of trash didn't hurt you did he?" since Angels mainly came to her they became protective of her. "You know who this demon is right? He hunts Angels and mortals down, then kills them." he crossed his arms over his white button up shirt as he stood near Emmett's body. His black dress pants clearly had been pressed recently.

The Angel's name was Anthony and at the moment he looked angry. Usually he had a smile on his face whenever he saw Lillian. He stood around 5'9 with a slim build and blond hair that was short. "I'm surprised you're helping such a thing." he snorted as his green eyes went to Emmett's body. "I'll take him off your hands now." he knelt down on one knee and placed Emmett's upper body over his shoulder. "He won't be bothering you anymore." he grumbled as he used his legs to stood up. "For just a skinny guy he's heavy." finally that bright smile he usually wore came back on his face.

Emmett's eyes flew open as soon as Anthony of on his feet, "I'm not going any where with the likes of you." his voice was cold as ice as his right arm transformed, from his finger tips all the way up to his shoulder. He drove his claw right through Anthony who's eyes widen as he let Emmett slip off his shoulder. Emmett softly landed on his feet as the blood dripped from his claws.

"I forgot you hold that damn thing." Anthony smirked as he held his wound, "Reasons why everyone and everything hates you." He suddenly spun around with a a small blade in his hand, but Emmett blocked the blade with his right arm.

"Lillian...I better leave before this thing makes a mess of himself in your house." Emmett growled in a cold voice as he grabbed the blade suddenly in the demonic hand and snapped it. His eyes flashing red, but only for a brief second before Emmett took his leave through the same window the Angel came through.

Anthony snorted clearly annoyed that Emmett decided to run off. "Coward!"

Lillian gasped as Anthony came flying into the window, standing up suddenly. The book slipped from her lap and landed on the floor. Emmett was out quickly, and Lillian stood there scowling. "Anthony! Do you honestly think I would have let him in here if I thought he would hurt me?" Uh, yeah. That was exactly what she had done, but no matter. That wasn't the point. "I know very well who he is! And yes! I know what he does!" No, she didn't know who he was, or what he did, but Anthony didn't need to know that! "Let him wa-"

"I'm surprised your helping such a thing."

"I don't mind. Actuall-"

"I'll take him off your hands now."

"Leave him al-"

"He won't be bothering you anymore."

"Anthony really. Just leave him alone." Lillian huffed, stepping toward them. Emmett's eyes flew open and they started fighting again. Though this time Emmett didn't wind up on the floor, in fact neither of them did... Emmett stormed out of the house, broken glass crunching under his feet as he walked. "Emmett wait!" She stepped forward, reaching out to him... But he continued on.

She turned to Anthony, anger bubbling to the surface. "How dare you?!" Her hand had made it across his face before she realized what had happened. "Get your mess cleaned up. And don't you dare leave a single drop of blood on my floor. So help me..." She left the threat there, turning and starting toward the door. If he thought he could get away with charging into her home, breaking things, and make her guest leave he had another thing coming! "Clean it!" She ordered, looking back at him and then pulling her shoes on.

Rushing out of the house she pulled the door open and then closed behind her. Emmett was walking down the sidewalk, head hung, hands in pockets. She hurried to catch up with him, putting her hand through his arm. "Where do you think you're going? We're not done talking yet."

Anthony had opened his mouth to get a word in edge wise with her, but failed. Like most men do. Once the door closed behind him he made a face before he went about cleaning up the mess. "She hits hard...maybe harder than that damn demon..." he snorted as he rubbed the side of his face.

After he swept up the glass from the window, straightened the room up a bit and even adjusted the minor things for her. But, as he picked up the book his eyes laid on the 'mystery' woman's information. "Why is she helping him...she's pairing up with a demon." he snorted as he slapped the book close with one hand.

Emmett looked down at her, "Is feather brain following you?" clearly he was still angry since his voice was still cold. His right arm returned to a plain old mortal arm once again. "Maybe you shouldn't help me since I see the feather brains believe you're on their side." he snorted, but he sighed as his eyed closed for a second. "And I was going to wonder the streets since there is no where to stay really in this town. I'm assuming that feather brain has a thing for you, huh?" he smirked a fang showing as he shook his head. "Good luck with an Angel."

Emmett kept his hands in his pockets, but his anger was slowly boiling back down.

"Nope. Just me." Lillian held onto his arm, glancing around the street. She looked down at his arm, smiling lightly as it went back to normal. "I want to help you. And they can shove it." A light laugh escaped her lips as she looked up to him. "You could stay with me. I have a spare room in the house. Anthony? Yeah... I'm not really sure. He's a strange character." Her smile only grew when she saw his fang, "Eh. I'd rather not try." Nodding lightly she looked down at their feet, watching as they walked. "He's cleaning right now. I told him not to leave without making sure my house was clean first." Lillian laughed again, glancing up at the street corner.

"Don't tell me you prefer demons. We're just as much as a pain in the ass." he chuckled a bit. The first time laughing in front of her or even showing a true a emotion around her...besides anger. "At least there is no blood in the apartment, right?" when her eyes looked down at their feet so did his, "You have small feet. Also, if I stay with you...you know that little Angel of your's is going to watch you like a hawk if I stay there. Plus, you realize either more demons will come to your place or we're going to have a field day with angels coming to kill me and make sure their little source is safe." Emmett looked forward once more as they walked together. It felt weird having somebody besides him who wasn't trying to kill him. Since Lillian had slipped her arm through his right arm he had slipped his left hand out of his pocket. His eyes glanced off to the side, "Sorry to have caused you trouble by the way." he grumbled not really one to say sorry to anyone.

Lillian laughed lightly, shaking her head again. "No, Humans are good." She grinned when he laughed, looking up to him again. His laugh was nice. "Right. No blood. That's alright. He can watch all he wants. But that's it. And the angels and demons... Eh. I'll figure something out."

They walked in silence for a few seconds, Lillian still glancing around the street. It was a nice night out, a cool breeze was blowing, the sky was clear, and the best part was that it was mostly silent.

She looked up to him when he apologized, grinning once again. "It's no trouble at all. Anthony's the one that caused trouble, not you." Her eyes spotted a bench and she nodded lightly. "Let's sit. If we walk to far the town get's sketchy. I'd rather not get into another fight..."

Emmett slipped his right hand out of his pocket after he led them to the bench this way her arm wasn't linked with his anymore. "I wouldn't know which parts of this town is good or bad. Than again I really don't care.' he shrugged shoulders a little as he sat down. His eyes glanced around since they were silent again, but when his eyes glanced towards her direction, but at first he wasn't really studying her body language. Now he was. "So, what else do I have to try to figure out about this mystery woman of mine? Also, going back to your offer about staying at your place. I hope you know you're letting a bounty hunter stay. I either kill or capture my target." Emmett was trying to give her some information about himself this way a complete stranger wasn't staying in her house. "Ask whatever you want. I figured you may not want a complete stranger stay at your place." he let his head fall back on the bench, his eyes watching the sky while he crossed his arms over his chest. His body was tense though as if he was ready to move at any second, but than again that's how he always seemed.

"So, which side does your gift come from?" it was a blunt question.
